Hey, I had just set-up my email on my wing to auto sync. Once I had successfuly done so, everytime i try to send an SMS i would get this message after hitting the "sens" button:
"cannot recognize one or more recipients or the address is not valie. Would you like to send the message anyway?"
So when I put in my contact in my "to:" field in the message, i just type in the name and it auto completes the name and number for me. All my contacts are on my phone and I cannot come to understand why I constantly get this error. Can anyone help me resolve and remove this error? thank you.

After few troubleshoots & hard resets, i finally got the solution:
go to messaging/menu/options/address tab
(in, contacts, get email addresses from) : choose [all e-mail fields].
it will solve ur problem.

The above error drives me nuts!
I got that popup error everytime I send SMS.
If I click YES, the message will be sent anyway.
I tried all sort of combination of number in the Outlook Contact:
+31624000222
Or 624000222
Or 0624000222
+31 = the country code.
Anyone know why I got that error?
How to fix that?
Thanks
Anyone does not get this problem?
have you tried using 011 (011624000222) instead of the + ? i had to do that when i was living in germany and using t-mobile on my wizard that had wm6 on it.. just a thought ...though adding the 0 in front of the dialed number (0624000222) seemed to work too
Yes, I did that. And it did not work.
Anyway, I gave up and hard reset the device.
I installed everything again and now it is ok, no error popup like that anymore.

i;m having the same prob. the phone can't recognize the country code or something ... when the country code is added to the number the local caller name is not displayed. and if the country code is removed from the number then in SMS the sender name is not displayed as most operators send the numbers with country code in the message headers ... damn !
checking the get address from all fields does work.
i forgot that I had unchecked that the other day..lol
Hi,
I tried doing whats described above but in my case, the phone already had the option "selected all fields" selected. I tried deselecting and selecting it again but in vain...
Any other suggestions??

P.S: I have a samsung omnia
thanks - found this and it appears to work for me. Message was bugging me.
i swapped my sim over in my tmobile vario 3 when my battery died. since then i've not been able to send any texts. i can recieve them but it wont let me reply. nor will it send a new sms if i create one from scratch.
any ideas as to what might be causing it?
anybody know what the problem could be? its effectively dead if a cant text
What is the exact error message you get when you try sending a message and is the SIM capable of sending SMS with other phones?
Did you check if message center number is entered correctly?
Regards,
Carty..
Hmm. For some reason its started working again. Basically, under the message list in the small bar where it says "SMS/MMS 3 Items, 2 Unread"
it just displayed the message "Error Syncronising" and a pop up alert read "Your message cannot be sent"
Not sure how it started working again though.
When in the message inbox, press right or left arrow button. It navigates to Outlook mail area.. Probably you tried sending SMS thru outlook account
Regards,
Carty..
My HTC Touch Viva keeps displaying me the error message "Failed to send message" while I try to send a simple SMS...it only happens with only one mobile phone number... I can send SMS to all the others contacts without problems!
I can resolve this problem deleting the conversation with this number and creating the new message: only in this the message is sent.
Is there anyone with a solution?
I had same problem with my friend's number. My SMS did not go when I replied to his SMS.
You just make a new SMS and send it to your friend.
You may remove his contact information and create a new contact to him. I guess this problem will be solved then.
i just got a new xperia and facing a strange problem. If some contact is saved in my contact list and i recieve sms from him. The window open showing the following thing
From: (Test messages)
To: "John" <+966xxxxxxxx>>
And when i type the message and press send option , i get the following message
Cannot Recognize one ore more recipients or the address is not valid. would you like to send the message anyway?
Yes NO
When i press Yes, i can see the message remain there in the Outbox folder, but cannot send it, I am really irritated due to this problem, need some solution to it?
One more thing i need to ask, where is the option in xperia, to see the message center number and details for SMS Settings...

Jade
No reply from anyone ):
I am having problems with "Replying" to a message.
I am unable to reply to messages and I get this "Your message could not be sent".
If I send a new message and select the "contact" from the address book the message goes. but if i manually type in the number the same error is shown...I have noticed that when I select a contact from the address book it shows like this
"contact name"<no> ;
and when I type the no manually there is no ";" which is same in the case of "REeplying"
When I type a message manually///Relply and add ";" the message goes...
WHY IS WINDOWS MOBILE is not adding this ";" to my messages anymore.,.
I have tried a hard reset .. the problem is solved for some time and comes back again.
I restore my contacts from OUTLOOK by sync and Messages from
PPC-PIMBACKUP software....
Pls help
The ";" is for separating names if you want to send the same message to several people at the same time (like in email). I don't think this is the issue with your problem, as I can send messages with and without ";" for just 1 recipient
Issues solved... Its a network issue only...
