I've had a succession of pocket PCs since the ipaq 5450 right through to the Vario II and today I took delivery of the Vario III.
I installed Tomtom, google maps, live search and memory map. They all work perfectly.
Am I doing something wrong ?
mine came too - am farting about with it now!
Got mine at 2pm this afternoon - this is how it looks now:
hi patcooke,
how did you get the screen to look like that !!
Ofiaich ...
same as little_rock - farting about! - and I see that, like me, you also live in the people's republic of yorkshire
Hi patcooke!
OK, I kept the big clock, so better try to learn to fart around a bit more..
Yes, I live in the Republic of Yorkshire too, East side, but of Emerald Isle descent.

What carrier did your Vario II come by? Mine should have came yesterday :-(
hmmm I think it was mercury or jaguar or some sh!t... it wasnt dhl i know that much... I'll look later when i get hom - i till got the bag.. did you check with your neighbours to see if it is therE?
I had them send it to my works so I wouldn't miss it. The T-mobile sales guy mentioned UPS but when I pounced on him yesterday he said they don't usually do phones.

Mine (T-mobile) came by Lynx parcel delivery due to the Royal Mail Strike - I ordered the phone last Friday at about 6pm and the phone arrived Monday. So they are still trying to do next day delivery..
I ordered mine on Monday, no joy yet. Supposed to arrive by Lynx yesterday. Phone T-Mobile, they basically said sorry, tough luck it'll turn up eventually.

T-Mobile store
I went into the T-Mobile store last night to get one, after speaking with a rep on Sunday and being told it would be £80 on an 18 month tariff at £32.50p/m (with the £5 p/m discount they're currently running). The checked the price again when I got there, and they said on that tariff it should be £139.99, but since the other guy had told me £80 they'd do it for that. Then when they got to the checkout and it asked for payment, it was only £49.99!
Very happy indeed!!! There's a few things I'm not sure about tho, like I can't find any settings for HSDPA, no network wizard thing included, and strangely no satnav software (even tho T-Mobile point out it has built-in GPS) and they didn't even offer me any!
Has anyone bought the kaiser at a decent price recently? From the feedback in the forums, tursted web stores are a lot more expensive Even ebay is getting expensive...
I got mine from Orange (in the UK). My contract just expired - I spend about £50-80 per month and I negotiated 300 minutes, 500 text, 30MB data per month with unlimited data at evening and weekends for free, plus I got the phone for free as well!
The only other vendor in the UK that I know is selling the Tytn II is T-Mobile. Hit Orange with T-Mobile's web n walk service and they will probably bend a little, especially if you talk to the cancellations department - they will do everything they can to stop you leaving...
I got mine from egadget depot .com price match available and honest merchant with fast shipping.
Cheapest I found was £428 inc P&P at http://www.handtech.co.uk/

Att website has the TILT for a reasonable price:
http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-ph...etails/?device=AT&T+Tilt(TM)&q_sku=sku1060009
I own a small business. I recently moved 25 lines over from Sprint to AT&T. This was via an authorized dealer (AT&T franchise). They gave me my Tilt for $300.00 bucks. I will never deal with a corporate store again. It's almost like they have more freedom to do what they want in order to win business. My friend moved his family plan over from Tmobile to AT&T with the same franchise and they gave him the same deal as me.
Got mine from craigslist. Brand new at&t tilt for $400.00 even. best deal ever.
got mine for 300 euro's at a place they call the black market they sell all sorts of things before the official release date and for a reasonable price oya and thats only the phone with no contract or monthly payment it used to be the vario 3 but i sim unlocked it and flashed it with the dutch rom

There getting 499.00 at the att stores here. Retail ,no contract needed.
Add in 6% tax and 15 bucks to unlock it and your at 534 grand total.
Just walkin and walk out with a new phone.
What gets me is how someone would pay over 600 plus shipping on Ebay for the same thing (locked to att also). And theres alot of buy it nows on ebay over 600 bucks for a tilt. I must be missing something, I dont understand that.
OK whats the lowest price available for the tytn ii not the att tilt?
2 weeks ago from an AT&T store in NYC featuring a special $50 additional discount for 3 days - paid $350 + tax less $100 MIR = $250

care to explain the details?
I have bought 4 units so far for family and friends. For Shops I would recommend Inkino Ltd at 48 Tottenham Court Road and 9 Great Russell Street. They recently had deals for HTC TyTN II P4550 Kaiser and 6GB Micro SD for £499.95.
I have also bought a unit from www.htcdirect.co.uk I was impressed with their speedy service, responses to my email queries and the unit turned up very nicely packaged. I will be using them in the future too. The only reason I went with HTCDirect was that Inkino had sold out at the time. Its always good to know more than one good source.
Hi there
Haven't been on here for a while (hello everyone), but I thought I'd post a note to say I've just been on the phone to O2 and have ordered my Ignito.
Has anyone else got one through O2 UK yet? What are they like?
I'm currently using a Stella BTW.
Cheers
HPJ
Got mine too..
Just got off the phone with O2, had to go through rententions finally got it for £25/month 600 mins 1000 txts with unlimited web browsing. should be with me tomorrow.
Hey I'm with o2 UK but bought my diamond sim free, they still think I am using my Orbit 2. Just wondered how you managed to get unlimited web bolt on etc for £25, I have been with o2 for years and I pay £37.50 for less calls and less texts.
So has no-one actually got one yet (an XDA Ignito from O2 UK, to avoid any ambiguity)? The guy at O2 who I spoke to said they had only just been released, but I didn't think he meant it literally!
Ordered one for the wife this afternoon. Should be here tomorrow, got tracking details from DHL tonight. All I've got to do now is teach her how to use it, her present phone is a Nokia 3100!!! £25 for 600 mins, 1000 txts and unlimited smurfing. Well pleased!!

maljay are you a new customer or just renewing your contract?
im think of moving to o2 from orange if they dont give me a decent upgrade deal on the diamond.
Retentions sorted me out nicely, matching the offer i got from Vodafone direct sales. Ordered yesterday afternoon came this morning at 9am
600 mins
1000 txts
Free data bolt on
18months
£20pm
Now need to wait for people to post up how they get rid of this silly O2 software
Not on web
Can't find anything at the O2 website....anyone have a working link?
Not on their site, although they do have the spare battery on there.
best to ring them
just ordered one myself, new to the site, hello btw, just wondering, anyone know best place to grab some good software for it? im pretty clueless atm, I seen some app threads on here, i assume they are what Im looking for??
This is my first renewal of an 18 month contract. Received Ignito 9am this morning. Just need to figure a way of getting back the nice black HTC theme. O2 branding not good but way better than Orange or T-Mobile.
Just ordered mine on o2 will be 3-5 working days but gives me time to get rid of my orbit 2 but on a £30/month contract for 18m but im on the o2 select scheme so upgrade in 15 months
O2 select used to give just a 12 month contract with an upgrade in 9 months....all but finished now according to the guy I spoke to.
Anyway got my Ignito today. Very different from Stellar. Not impressed with the TouchFlo 3D thing....very slow and not particularly intuitive. But the overall size combined with the usual suspects (exchange syncing etc) is great. I've yet to put any music or films on there however. Very much work in progress.
Anyone else's initial thoughts?

Or so I am told by O2 as i ordered mine on saturday and it should come by Wednesday.
Got mine free with Online 35 (600 mins+1000 text and inc web bolt on)
paying £21 as I have been with O2 for 10 yrs.
Can't wait but hope I have no CP7 issues.
Had Orbit with CP6 and Orbit 2 with CP7, no issues.
Has anyone managed a rom dump backup of Ignito?

Orange have left the Diamond unbranded - no crappy orange bloatware. The only thing that tells you the phone is Orange is a small logo at the bottom of the back of the phone. This is unusual for Orange though...
XDA Indigo
Got my Indigo about two weeks ago, am long term o2 customer so good deal free phone, 1000 txts, 600mins, unlimted web (subject to fair usage) discounted international calling package & add ons.
Taken me this last couple of weeks to get it how i want it, (previous mobile was XDA Orbit) changed softkey programms etc. So far pretty good apart from hands free speaker phone which is quite, have posted on this issue elsewhere.
Just ordered my Ignito this evening from the o2 website. Due to my excellent credit history I'm confident I will get a second contract with them.
I'm so damn excited!
Anybody else ordered one?
Hi,
Have you got yours yet.
I got mine this morning but have not opened it yet.
I was expecting co-pilot sat nav software a car holder as in Orbit 1 and 2.
But it does not appear to have any of these.
No car holder and no mension of sat nav software either on the box or now on the o2 web site.
Has anyone else got a Ignito with sat nav?
I specifically asked for co-pilot and was told it was installed alraedy. is that the case?

I can't find the Ignito on the O2 website for UK...can someone in the know post the link please?
I can open it and find out but that rules out the option of selling on Ebay as new by breaking the seal.

I hoped that if someone else had a Ignito they could say if co-pilot was installed.

O2 Ignito,

I did negotiate. Got O2 35 (600 mins and 100 txt) for £21 on two contracts. waiting for SE C902 to come in stock for other contract.
Cancellations told me sat nav software was included, but on mentioned on box or site. So I now think its not included.

Hi All,
I'm new here. Been lurking around a while, but finally making my 1st post.
Can anyone who has got the O2 version please tell me if it has the Diamond Back or is it flat like the T-Mo one ?
I can get one FREE with a £35 / m contract or can go £20 SIM only and pay £400 for one. Works out at about £130 more over the 18 months if I go SIM Free tho.
Any opinions would be much appreciated.
Ordered mine today too, should come tomporow morning, I've only been waiting for it to come out for like 3 months. woo hoo
Hi, flat matt back.
Did not come with co-pilot.
Nearly sent it back as the usb connection is different from all others I have had before, more D shared. So the usb-pc and the phone cables are D share as well but the mains and car chargers are the old shape. Finallay worked it out......... the phone takes both shapes but the old shape goes in upside down. Why the change? good job I did not ring O2.
I assumed as it was new O2 had got it wrong and sent out old charger shape cables. DOH!
How long you been with o2. negotiate. Much better deals out there. I quoted my written quote for t-mobile as free phone and £30 month with internet. see my last posts.

Had my O2 Ignito since last friday now, and at last I think I can be of help...
1) no it doesn't come with Co-Pilot as standard (just trying to decide whether to get tomtom navigator or Garmin mobile on mine)
2) The O2 version has a flat matt black back (try saying that with a few stella's inside you!)
Matt.
Could you post some pictures of the back cover ?
Does it come with a MicroSD slot like the o2 site is claiming? also, could osmeone post a couple of pictures from the camera, and does it have a flash?
Cheers!

It doesn't come with an expansion slot no, and the camera doesn't have a flash. As for posting photographs - I'm afraid I'm not that technically minded.
However should you pay a visit to www.coolsmartphone.com you will find they have done a viseo diary entitled 'a week with the HTC Touch Diamond'. It is well worth spending the time watching the vids.
Matt
Just got in after an 11 hour shift :| to see that one of my housemates signed for it for me! It's now in my hand Gonna be a late night tonight
Don't get it stolen!!
Thanks for your answers Johny1fin. I'm currently in the process of moving from Orange to O2, so my options are limited. Looks like I'm going to go for the O2 £ 35 /month option to get a free Ignito. Can always put the new firmwares here on it.

Ravin Dave - Hi !
You're in my hometown, so I wanna help (live in clitheroe now though).
Negotiate - lots of places offering 11 months HALF PRICE rental on orange, ie 17.50/month for your contract size. Ask O2 to match orange, and if they don't, imply that you'll stay with orange (meanwhile waiting for some1 else, eg Carphone Warehouse, to get Ignito on O2).
There will be more competitive deals available once it's available in other outlets.
It's worth waiting just a week or two more.
Patience........
Mine Ignito arrived earlier this week as well, £35 contract dropped to £20 a month to beat the Orange deals going on at the moment. So 600 mins, 1000 texts, and a free bolt on (Unlimited data...no brainer).
Pretty please with it so far, prefer the flat/matt back to the std diamond one anyway!
Not a fan of the O2 blue theme though...am I safe to put the modified HTC Diamond ROMs on it?

Yes I think the MDA version has only been released in Germany so far.
When I spoke to T-Mobile UK they also said it will be released for Business customers before it is available for personal users.

The T-Mobile overseas always seems so much better to me than the UK counterpart. You guys seem to have a faster and more organised release dates of new handsets.
No MDA Compact V available (to me anyways) here in the Netherlands, still waiting for mine.
It does not always work so good
The Diamond was available 1 month after their official release date and they always told me: "The device should be available in some days"... so I had to wait a long time.. as u guys now!

Very nice deliverytime.
Yes, no hassle in Germany. Ordered mine two weeks ago to make sure I'm in the delivery cue. Received it Monday May 18th by DHL. First I was pretty shocked about the size of the device. Compared to the Diamond 1 (aka MDA Compact IV) it is HUGE.... Not so much length and width, but that thing is one hell of a thick sucka... reminds me alot of the Touch Pro sizewise, just without the sliding keyboard. My beloved Diamond 1 feels almost tiny compared to it. But anyway, feelings do grow slowly I guess, once that ugly magenta branding will be gone Hard SPL rulez!!!!!!!

I had 1 in my hands last week in the T-mobile shop in Eindhoven, but the original TD2 looks so much better, so i chose for the original one instead of the MDA V. At first i thought i want the MDA V badly because it looks good on the photo's, but it isnt true when you see it in real life.
I called T mobile (upgrades department, UK). They said it will be available from 1st week of June and will give me a call when it is out.

Found this post on CoolSmartPhone.com from funkstar(uk)
I had a phone call this morning from T-Mobiles upgrade team and he said the Compact V wasn't due for four or five months!
Got a £15 a month discount on my old Flex25 (£60 or credit a month) tariff instead of an upgrade. Might need to call them back once this has been confirmed as being available.
Either that or I just buy a handset from DeviceWire.

Less impressed with the rigmarole you have to go through to try and transfer number from T-Mobile to T-Mobile... ended up just telling everyone my new number.
