All the cooked roms end with .rar. After I downlod the cooked rom (bepe) the file ends with rar. According to the trinity giude it should have ended with zip so that I would be able to extract the files (see section 4, upgrade rom - Open the folder where you unzipped the files and click on ‘ROMUpdateUtility.exe’). However, there is no exe file but only rar. How do I upgrade then? I m a beginner in this and I need your help!!!!!
Download WinRAR and extract the Files.
RAR is like ZIP only other compression
thanks a lot!

HI
Just download New ROM from O2 Asia, trying to update but coutry Error
Please help.

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgrade
Download update to desktop
Unrar or unzip all files in exe or rar into a new folder
Open the folder with the extracted files
Download this file: MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP (See link)
Extract MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from this file and place it with the other upgrade files.
Run this new exe file instead of BaUpgradeUt.exe to update your rom
If you get an error the first time, run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe again
it working now
Thanks

how did you extract .nbh to .nb file? hope you don't mind to share. thanks.

Hi vibranze,
To extract the .nbh into .nb you need to use NBHextract.exe
ex. NBHextract ROM.NBH ROM.NB

thanks oferprtz,
i managed to do the conversion, and using aChef and aWaiter I also managed to dump out to imgfs_raw_data.bin, however I failed on extracting the content of imgfs_raw_data.bin, by either using viewimgfs or fdmsflsh.pl script.
if you are able to extract them out, kindly let me know what's wrong with my step. thanks.
cheers,
vibranze
Hi vibranze,
To extract the .bin file you will need the 'ImgfsToDump.exe'
You can find all these tool at:
http://content.modaco.net/ROM/ImgfsTools2rc2b.zip
ex. c:\htcrom\ImgfsToDump.exe imgfs_raw_data.bin
That will extract all files from the binary file.
br,

Hello,
I would like to follow the procedure for customizing the splash screen as described here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_SplashScreen
At first, I didn't know where to get the program ROMUpgradeUt.exe, then I found (quite difficultly - sometimes the obvious for one is so obfuscated for the other one) that is contained in any ROM image. And that any ROM image is an archive. Well, I downloaded 2 Dopod ROM images, renamed them from .exe into .zip (and .rar) , but neither WinZIP, nor WinRAR is able to open the archive.
I remember doing it, could you please help with this issue ?
If you have any other advice on how to customize the splash screen(s), I would be very grateful.
Thank you all.
Please, could somebody help me with this ?
It is not clear what you want!
You should not be renaming any .exe files to .zip or .rar.
Try right clicking on the .exe file (dopod rom downloaded) and if you have winzip installed you will have a winzip menu in the context sensitive menu. - Choose Extract to - and extract the contents of the .exe to a folder.
You also will have extract to as an option on your right click menu if you have 7-zip (free) installed.
Once you extract the ROM you will have all the ROM and upgrade files. You can Now delete the .nbh file (the ROM) and replace it with the splash ROM .nbh file that you created using the instructions that you are following. (Use the same file name to be sure).
Now use the RUUtility.exe to flash your splash
Hi, thanks for the reply. I remember that last time I did the same operation I had to rename the file. I might be wrong. Anyhow, I'll try to do as you said.
Thanks again.
Hello fellow HTC-ers!
I've made a dump of my Blackstone (using pdocread -l), all seems fine. Got 4 .raw files. Now, Dr. Jay in his movie says to "get" a .nbh file. From where?? I'm confused. Read several postings about IMGFS, but those didn't help me to get to the next step.
To be precise : I want to have a flashable backup of my original (NLD : Original NLD ROM - 1.14.404.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14) ROM before I install HSPL and start cooking my own. Preferably, I want to create this original flashable ROM myself, just to get familiar with the tools and the process.
Could anyone tell me where to go from here? (4 .raw files)
Thanks.
Grt., K.
ps. when I search this forum for ".nb" or "nbh" I get no hits.. Does the searchkey have to consist of a minimum number of characters?

Please read and use this very usefull tool from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438456
You need to download an official stock rom. Copy your part1 and part2 raw files and the RUU_signed.nbh (from the downloaded and extracted stock rom) into the baserom folder. You need to launch the BlackStoneKitchen.cmd from the rom kitchen folder and follow the on-screen instuctions: extract the content (push e then b), then re-cook it (push c then a).
thanks, tsummer.. I've downloaded the kitchen and the original stock ROM's a few weeks ago. The stock package consisted of 4 .rar files, extracting to one .exe file. No .nbh! So, where should I get it from? If I start the .exe, an application pops up, wanting to flash my device.. The thread you posted does not shed any light on where to obtain or how to extract the right .nbh file..
I really read in to this stuff, but somehow the whole "getting the .nbh-file" remains foggy to me. Please advice.
/edit : I've got a "RUU_Signed.nbh" from a zip called "Restore_Stock_SPL_114_2.zip". Is that the right one? It's 513 KB (526.193 bytes) big. Question remains : How should I extract the existing .nbh from my running ROM / Device?
Found it!
To get the .NBH file from a Stock ROM .exe file, right click the .EXE and select "Extract Files..." from your rar-quickmenu!
Wow.. took me "only" 8 hours to figure this one out...
*shame* dr.Jay does explain it in his movie "rebuilding".. ouch.

Open the exe with winrar and you will see the RUU_signed.nbh (this is the correct nbh). Copy this nbh into the baserom folder and use the BlackstoneKitchen.cmd.

The SPL in an another issue.
I was just wondering if I wanted to re-cook a rom such as Dutty's or L26 to add one extra package is that the same procedure as above assuming I dump their rom from my device?
i can flash all nbh files.. but some of u chefs make 7z files. how do u flash these
You don't.
.7z is a compressed archive, like a .zip or .rar. You need to unpack it on your PC, and the .nbh is inside.
If you have WinZip or WinRAR on your PC, they should automatically open the archive when you click on it. If you don't have one of those, then look for a free .7z utility. I don't use any free ones, so I can't see which one is the best.
As already mentioned it's a compressed archive
Not ROM Development on that note thread closed.
