increase the volume by using whatever program you used to cut the ringtones in the 1st place

Any way to increase a ringtone that's already made? I have The Office theme song as my ringtone, but it's not as loud as I'd like. I know I can increase the overall volume with itunes, just not sure how I can get that file resaved with the increase.

you can use Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
or you can use the 'Audio Recorder', which came with windows, but the file has to be a .wav file ................... I had a tutorial somewhere which I did a long time ago when I had the mpx200 and mpx220 which had a low speaker output, I will look around and see if I can find it and repost it here

1: Do a google search for a free Mp3 to wav converter or use the one above
2: Convert all you mp3 files to wav
4: Now on your PC (OS =XP) it START ~~ ALL PROGRAMS ~~ ACCESSORIES ~~ ENTERTAINMENT ~~ SOUND RECORDER.
5: after you have opened the sound recorder at the top hit EDIT ~~ INSERT FILE.... now in the new box that pops up locate the folder with the files you just converted and select one by double clicking on it.
6: No with the file in the sound recorder play it and take note of how loud it is then hit , EFFECTS ~~ INCREASE VOLUME (BY 25%) do that about 4 times (you cando it a lot more if needed) and then listen to it again and make sure it does not sound distorted. If it does just hit EFFECTS ~~ DECREASE VOLUME.
7: Now that you have the volume you want hit FILE ~~ SAVE AS and give it a title and hit save.
8: to insert a new file hit FILE ~~ NEW and then start from steps 5 - 8 untill you've did all of them.
they are all going to be in wav formate after you finished so you can use a converter and convert them back to mp3

How to change ringtone directory + improve?

Hey, guys. I have a storage card with a folder called "Music" on it. There is all my music. How can I set a .mp3 as ring tone without any software? Kaiser has this option, but it always needs to copy the .mp3 file, that I want as ring tone in the main memory in "My Music". I think there's a registry tweak to do this... does somebody know how?
What I want: on the today screen in Sounds to be able to chose a .mp3 from my storage as ring tone without to copy it to the main memory.
I hope you understand me.. sorry for my terrible English.
Thanks.
I think I have seen this option change in SK Tools
Do it using Audio Manager
Audio Manager has this option to use any song as Ringtone.
It even has a function where you can Select the in-out points for the ringtone in a song.

Two questions on ring tone

I have 2 questions:
1)I've note that for apply the ring tone for the calls, the format must be only mp3, instead for the notification the format must be only wav. Is there a program that resolve this problem? I would apply an mp3 file for the notification and a wav file for the ring tone. moreover when i choice vibrate and ring, the vibration work continuosly, in other cel the vibration work at regular interval. What i resolve this problem?
2)The volume of ring tone are very low, but i up his at max. Is there an registry or file hack for increase the volume?
Thanks for the attention
I would be intrested to know the answer to this also, it would be worth having the sound increased if possible. at the moment i am having to normalise the mp3 in a sound editing program before sending to the phone.

2) For ring tones, are you using mp3's that you ripped from another source?
If so, can you compare the volume of these mp3's to built-in ringtones, such as "Capri?"
I ask b/c I find the volume of my Tilt to be very satisfactory; In fact, when using Capri ringtone I usually turn it down a little b/c it is very loud.
Usually when I rip mp3's, though, they turn out at a much lower volume than the included ringtones and I use Audacity (a free audio editor) to bumb up the db of the mp3.
If there is a volume hack, it will likely be system wide which may have unwanted side effects.
Hope this helps some.

set as ringtone my wav. file.

where can i download a app, that set the wav. file as a ringtone or messages alert?? can you give me some links. thanks in advance..
are you dislike mp3 ? )
Use ur laptop to send the .wav file to ur X1 through bluetooth. And then u can see the wav file in the ringtone list
making the wav into mp3 would dec it's size by a factor 11 though
The best software to encode between mp3 and .wav is free CDEx.
I use it all the time in profi usage.
With 320kbps mp3 you get perfect quality without any loss for a ringtone.
well for ring tones I would advise mono and a pretty low Kb/sec as the speaker in most devices don't really do high quality audio much justice
Put it in either the My Documents folder on your device or in Storage Card\My Documents and it'll show up in the ringtone list.
Works for mp3, wma, wav, mid etc

Nope. It works in My Documents as well, even on a card. Try it!

Creating Ringtones Output Level Question

I downloaded some ringtones (mp3 files) but the sound levels aren't consistent. I'd like to normalize the files. I have little experience with sound files, I found a few programs like audacity but I have no idea what the correct output settings should be for the Droid. Is there a "standard" db level I should set or is it just trial and error? Thanks.
If you want to normalize the volume across MP3s I'd suggest MP3Gain. It will scan the MP3 file and report an average db value. It will then change the file to the average db value you specify. You'll still have your loud and soft parts, but the average volume is fixed so going from MP3 to MP3 the volume feels the same. I run all my songs through this.
http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/
Yes, but on the phone, how do you know what the best setting is so it isn't distorted or too low. Mine are all over the place. I know if I pick a db value and normalize it, that will "fix" the problem but how do you know the best value for the phone?

Custom boot sound low volume

So I have this .ogg file that plays nice and loud.
When I copy it to /system/media/audio/ui and rename it to PowerOn.ogg with root explorer it works.
But it's very quiet. Why is this?
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Premium HD app
That depend. What is volume in ogg file set as. It should equal what the regular file is. If file is saved low will be low

It plays nice and loud using the built in sound player.
Guess I will have to find a sound editor and manually bump the amplitude of the waveform.

I can't believe I forgot about Audacity.
I used to use that program a lot back in the day.
In this case it was exactly what I needed. Some amplification, normalization and background noise reduction.
Just for the curious, I set my power on sound to be "He who controls the spice, controls the universe" from Dune.
It is one of my all time favorite movies and series of books.
