stop email notification - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I am wondering if anyone knows how to stop the email notifications. I get emails all the time, and I use phonealarm on my today screen to monitor them. It is very annoying to constantly have the left soft button come up with a notification .
I have gone into setting>sounds & notifications and turned everything off.. but I still have the soft button notification. I would think there is some registry setting to do this but I have not found one.

Notification Softkey Help
Bumping this thread.
I too have all notifications for email turned off, but still get that left softkey changing to "notification" every 10 minutes to let me know I have unread email. I know I have unread email and already have the # of messages listed on the Today screen. I am tired of having to dismiss this.
Please, somebody tell us how to shut this off.

settings/sounds & notifications/notifications tab/event drop down box/messaging:new email messages.
in there will give you the options for all types of messing to turn on/off

Thanks, but that's the point. All those options are checked off. We still get the soft key notification.

And there was me thinking I could just use the key listed and change the duration to 1, like I did with SMS notifications. Alas it has no effect so disabling it entirely seems like the only option.

Thank you. This is a big help. Should be added as a "tweak" if somebody can.

Wake up for text message, not for email

I noticed that my phone will wake up when I get a text message, but when I get an e-mail it does not. In both cases, the sound notification occurs, but I was wondering if there was a way to get it to consistently do one or the other. i.e., get the phone to wake up for both e-mails and text messages, or, only have the sound go off for both and have the display stay off.
Thanks in advance!

Check out the sounds a notifications. There are many options to play around with in there. I'm sure your answer lies within.
Get there by going to
Stat > Settings > Sounds & Notifications.
My ATT tilt does the same thing. In SETTINGS > SOUNDS AND NOTIFICATIONS, all settings are the same for the two items.
If my phone is asleep, it will wake up, show the message notification and play the sound for a text.
But for an email, it dosent wake up, but it does play the sound.
Let me look in the registery real quick and see what it shows.....
this is how it is..
emails do not wake the phone.. been like this on the 81/85 and now the 89

Stop ringtone for SMS and/or email

Anyone have any idea how to stop the ring/vibrate alert when I receive an email or sms? On most phones if I push a button it'll stop, but obviously it doesn't work for the tilt.
Is there a cab for this?
Thanks!
Are you looking to change the settings?
Start > Settings > Sounds and Notifications > Notifications
Or hit the dismiss softkey when you get a notification.
kinda.... When I hit the dismiss softkey the ring/vibrate doesn't stop. When I did a search I saw someone else with a Wizard had the same problem. But to elaborate, my ringtone for sms isn't just a beep, it's a ringtone, so I just need it to stop when I hit a key or something.
Thanks for the help

Uhhh... no it doesn't. Am I doing it wrong?
I'm not trying to adjust the settings, I just want to be able to have a ringtone for my sms, and then when it rings, be able to stop the ringtone/vibrate with a button (or a scroll wheel) anything really...
Any more ideas?
Help? whimper?
Really? Nobody knows how to fix this? Am I the only one who has this problem? I know I can just turn the ringtone off for txts and email, but then why let a great feature go to waste? There has to be a way to stop a ringtone from playing all the way through when receiving a sms. Someone? Anyone?
Thanks

Disabling the notifications bubble?

Can the notification bubble be disabled?
Its absurd that in the sounds and notifications, I uncheck all notifications from all events and still get the "Dismiss" button for a notification of a missed call or voicemail or email or mms.
I really dont need to see new email counter increment, plus notification/dismiss bubble at the bottom of the screen and finally the envelope icon at the top. Im not that dense.

You need to uncheck "show message on screen" from the connection established event under sounds and notifications.
no that just dosnt allow the message to pop up on the notification. i dont believe there is anyway to disable the icon that pops up in the top.
but what you can do is disable the message that pops up

The instructions I posted prevent the notification bubble from popping up, which is exactly what the OP was trying to accomplish.
no i think he means the icon that pops up on the top not the message that comes up when ever something happend...
at least thats what i think he means...
Which one
I dont mind the envelope on top, what I do mind is when I have the keypad locked and it take 4-10 button presses to get the normal soft key navigation back.
Example:
Missed call, new email, new mms, new voicemail. Each has a seperate "notification" that has to be viewed and dismissed in 2 keystrokes.
So for example, on a missed call only:
1) Turn display back on
2) Unlock (left softkey)
3) Unlock touch right mid screen (or *)
4) click softkey notification (left softkey)
5) click dismiss softkey (right softkey)
As you can see, it takes 5 buttons to get my left softkey back to normal and get rid of the notification bubble. The handset icon with the ! on it is sufficient to indicate the missed call.
Now, how about a missed call, which of course causes a new voicemail:
1) Turn display back on
2) Unlock (left softkey)
3) Unlock touch right mid screen (or *)
4) click softkey notification (left softkey)
5) click dismiss softkey (right softkey)
6) click softkey new message
7) click softkey dismiss
Now add new voicemail, missed call, new email, new text message and you can see it takes a ton of annoying keypresses to get rid of the bubble notifications and return the softkeys to normal where I expect them to be whenever I need to use my phone.
I have everything unchecked in the sound/notify section so that doesnt help.
If I dont use Today but instead, a Today replacement, does that go away?
Thanks
take a look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1843894
goto HKCU\control panel\notifications\
and change whatever you want to not show up to 0 or 1 in the options. What i do is set everything to 0 and i used to have a 1 ring lag due to that stupid bubble but as a disclaimer i use S2U2 to Handel the phone calls and phone alarm to Handel notifications so i am able to turn all this stuff off and still have the notifications i ask for.
No Luck on that thread
No luck on that thread. I still get the missed call changing the softkey to Notification and then a bubble, then dismiss.
I tried setting all the "Options" in each key under notifications to zero. So far, I think they all went away except missed call.
I have also been looking for a solution to disable the left soft-key notification / notification bubble. It seems that anyone who receives a lot of calls, voicemail and e-mail on there phone would find this "feature" annoying. I've tried various phone alarm type applications and not had any luck.
You're idea of replacing the today screen sounds like a good idea.
...but so far I just have to disable all on-screen notifications in notification settings and then press the left-soft key over and over again to dismiss all those stupid notifications.

Absolutely! I also can not understand why it seems impossible to get rid of this "feature". Specialy since HTC Home Plugin (and lot of other today plugins) make this notifications absolutely unnecessary.

how to disable the notification on left softkey?

I was using NON-TouchFlo with Windows Mobile default today.
everytime a new mail comes up, the left softkey change to notification.
i don't want it, i want my left softkey always is contact.
i try to disabled setting-notifications-new e-mail message-display message on screen. although the mail will not display in the today's screen, but the left softkey also change from contact to notification.
how can i disabled this?
anyone know this?
turn off notifications on left soft key?
Would love to have the answer to this one.
Me too!
At least a hint where to search in the registry?
Thanks!

PopUp Notifications not clickable

Morning everyone, so I've been using my N6 since Thursday of last week, and really like it so far. But the one thing that is kind of frustrating is that I'm unable to interact with the pop-up notifications. I would assume, if I'm lets say in my Gmail app, reading an email, and I get a test message I should be able to click on the pop-up notification and it should take me to Hangouts. But the only thing I'm able to do is swipe the notifications away and then pull the notification bar down, then click on the notification it will take me to the application. Anyone else have this issue? Is this by design?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Brocja01

That only works from the lock screen. I'm talking about when you're actually interacting with an Application lets say Gmail, and you get a text message. Those pop-up notifications. I can't do anything with them but swipe them away. That includes the pop-up notification for a phone call, I actually have to swipe away the notification, then pull down the notification bar to answer the call. Very frustrating...

Not for me, I can double click, click and hold, swipe down and nothing works but swiping left or right to dismiss.

I have exactly the same problem. I also see it on incoming phone calls -- the popup appears with "answer" or "dismiss", but I can't click either of them. All I can do is swipe the notification away and the phone keeps ringing. I just missed a call due to this.
Anyone else seeing this? I'll let you know if I find a solution.

Make sure you come back here and let me know if you figure this out. Kind of annoying. I've gotten really quick at swiping away, swipe down to answer calls.
Thanks,

I tried a couple of things this morning that seemed to help. I re-enabled the default Messaging app (I had disabled it because I don't use SMS on my phone). I also disabled Hangouts, cleared its data, and re-enabled it. Then I rebooted the phone.
Now Hangouts pop-ups seem to work correctly (I can tap them to go to Hangouts, swipe them down to go to the notification bar, etc.). I haven't had a chance to test it with incoming phone calls yet.
This worked to fix phone calls too, for me. I hope it works for you.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
I did a reboot and they started to work. Very wierd.
