[email protected] Today Screen Plugin - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

On my Vario III there is a today screen plugin installed by default. Enabling/Disabling does not appear to have any effect. Does anyone know what this plugin actually does?
I have RTFM, actually I searched it with Acrobat real Men dont read manuals, but there is no mention of the plugin.

Post a screenshot??

Doesn't work on my Vario III either. Not that i'm bothered, as I think its the same thing that was on my Vario II - a line of 't-mobile-esque' icons for stuff like wnw, mail etc.

no msn/live messenger on tmobile Vario III?

has anyone else got a vario III and noticed that there is no msn/live messenger installed? is there a legit way of getting this on there?
also, when viewing text messages, can i replace the function of the left soft key - its currently set to delete, but on the previous vario II it was new - so i find myself constantly trying to delete messages when trying to write a new one. and its also a friggin pain in the ass to go through the menu selection to start a new text....
any help is much appreciated guys..
A couple of minutes with the forum search function will answer all your questions.
i did try and search it but can't find the answers to these few things... have found other stuff though that has been useful..
edit: i've found a cab for WLM, but still cant resolve the soft key issue in messaging... so if anyone knows... !
Im also looking for this anyone?
Toilet-Duck, Windows live mobile is available here - ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Software/
Rob.
Theres been a windows live cab uploaded on coolsmartphone.com
Heres the link for the thread: http://www.coolsmartphone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11696
And heres the link for the direct download (off megaupload.com)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WSEQT0ZN
Word of warning, when I installed this app on my phone, it worked fine. However, downloading this app will install both, what seems to be an outdated version of windows live, and also windows messenger onto your phone (well with me it did anyway). But when I decided I didn't want it anymore on my MDA Vario III and tried to uninstall it, the app still remained on my programmes list, but faded out- kind of like if you were to click on a document on your computer, and click on 'cut'.
This problem meant I had to hard reset my device to get rid of any trace of windows live messenger.

Search through appointments

Hello,
yesterday I tried to lookup my appointment for the dentist(!) on my S730. With my former phone, MDA Vario, I could search with the search program that was originally installed.
Now with my S730, there seems to be no way of searching through appoinments. Have I missed something, or does WM6 miss something?
gr. Rob
Yeah, WM for smartphones misses a built-in find utitility. However you can try SmartphoneFind.
Thanks for this answer.
I really hate to pay for something that was standard on my previous WM phone, but there are no other options.

Any reccomendations for a new user?

As title really , i've had a WM2003 based PDA before and a couple of S60 mobiles in the past.
But this is my first PDA/Phone device.
I have the O2 version of the TYTN2 (XDA Stellar)
Can anyone reccomend me any essentials I should be looking at getting.
Looking for a decent web browser and any other Utilizes that are recommended
Also is there an easy way to switch between running apps without going back to the today screen first?
recommendation is to search + read the gweni
Hmm while its an interesting read most of it seems to be concerned around changing things in the Firmware/Rom.
There's a couple of useful things like a stopwatch/countdown timer listed but I didn't see anything that resembled a list of Recommended apps (ideally freeware)
I feel your pain. It's tough to find a list of recommended apps. I may actually put a list together this weekend. I got my Tilt about 2 weeks ago and I have my list of apps. Actually, I'll start:
Audio Player: HTC Audio Manager or Windows Media Player
Backup: Sprite Backup and PIM Backup
Calculator: I like the skin that comes with dutty's ROM
Camera: HTC Camera
Compression: PocketRAR or HTC ZIP
Config Tools: KaiserTweak and Schap's Advanced Config
Cube: Slither's Cube (I don't like the Cube much, but this one is pretty damn nice)
Dialer: DualTouch dialer
File Manager: Resco or Total Commander
IM: Palringo or IM+
Maps/GPS: Google Maps and/or Windows Live Search
Picture Album: HTC Album
Registry Editor: Regeditor
Screen Capture: pocket Screen
Start Menu Replacement: QuickMenu
Other:
HTC Action Screen
HTC Home
HTC Home Customizer (I like v1.0 and don't like v.1.05b)
HTC QuickGPS
HTC Comm Manager, 6 button, Schap's style
HTC SIM Manager
HTC Voice Recorder
HTC Field Status
Sipchange
Can't find a good one:
Battery monitor
Task manager
Media player (TCPMP is a popular one, but there are a lot of them)
Office - I keep using Pocket Outlook for Contacts, Email, Appointments, and all that other jazz. There are other apps out there like FingerFriendlyFriends but strangely I'm happy with Pocket Office.
Does this help?

Start with Kaiser tweaks. That will rid your phone of most annoyances. Read all info on Touch Flo, Touch Flo Cube, Htc Home Customizer. Read the Wiki here and on htcwiki.com. Everyone here needs different things from their phones. And different ways to access those things. Read read read, follow links. One search will take you to another search to another.
I got my Tilt in early Nov came accross this site shortly thereafter, read and listened and searched and did not have a need to ask a question until April, my first post. Lots of info here for the grasping. No offense to anyone here, but a list of all " apps " isn't necessarily a list of what you want or especially what you " need".
I'll add one more to this:
Voice Commands: Microsoft Voice Commander or Cyberon Voice Commander
Wow isn't this post repeated every week or so?

Edit Internet Shortcuts?

Hi!
I was looking around quite some time to find a solution to this problem with no result :-(
In fact I have a SFR branded HTC Diamond and installed the manila scheme.
everything works fine except on the internet tab:
On the internet tab there is now neither the SFR logo neither the globe ..
and the fixed shortcuts like "info", "tv live" and "sports" are also still there even though I deleted all the favourites ..
Anyone has an idea how to change or at least delete these interent shortcuts?
Thanks lot,
Daniel
You should look at post #8 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408641
This should be the solution to your problem.

touchflo for the vario IV of t-mobile

I will start first by saing sorry because I know this question is asked many times before but after I checked out the thread at one point i get lost.
The point is that i have bought a MDA vario IV from T-mobile and I really don't like the touchflo colours / theme.
What I'm looking for is a way to (preferably in Dutch) change the theme of the t-mobile colours, the standard htc black will be good enough.
If somebody could help me out here it would be great, with all these threes (read threads) I can see the forrest anymore.
With kind regards,
Hans
Ok, thats easy:
First turn of TouchFLO in Settings>Home>Elements.
Download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?rzbcz1dzwnc and save it to your memory card.
Open the cab-file with file explorer and install. After a soft reset (usually preformed by installer automatically) you will find the original black TouchFLO when you activate TouchFLO in settings>home>elements.
With a MDA Vario the t-mobile or t-mobile2 theme in settings>home> may work for you - but there is still magenta in it. Search for htcblack.tsk to get the original black taskbar.
Hans, Did it work and is everything in dutch when this cab is installed?
I can tell you that everything is in german on my Vario and Diamond. Just give it a try. Have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475611
