Exchange Push vs Hotmail (Live) Push - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Has anybody tried these two options?
I've been playing with hotmail push (configuring windows live for getting emails "as they arrive"), but it seems to drain battery very fast... then I've changed configuration for checking email every 15 minutes...
Which option drains more battery?.... activesync exchange push configuration?, or hotmail checking every 15 minutes?
Thanks!

It's not pushmail that drains your battery it's your data connection.
Pushmail is only a piece of software that keeps an open connection to a mail server. No difference between hotmail and exchange pushmail.
HSDPA is using a hell of a lot more power then GPRS. Try switching HSDPA off and use GPRS instead.

I've disabled 3G, always use GPRS.... does HSDPA setting affect if I've disabled 3G???
Does Live Push work same way as Activesync push email?, maybe one of them uses more cpu, I dont know, the data connection may be open, but the programs running can do different things (Live vs AS), and therefore the battery drain...
If I use Windows live (items as arrive), everytime I soft reset the kaiser I get a lot of data connection errores until I enter my sim pin... continnnnnnnnuously... but this is not happening if you use Exchange push...

Push Email

Hi
I'm runing the latest version of Helmi BA WM2k5 AKU3.2 and have setup activesync to work with mail2web.com.
If I setup activesync to sync as items arrive everything works great via gprs.
The problem I have is if I activate wifi. After a few seconds activesync drops the wifi connection and dials gprs.
Is it possible to stop activesync dialing a gprs connection if there is an active wifi connection.
Rob
Push Mail can be used only with GPRS. If Push Mail is on, you cannot use WiFi.... (as I know)
Thank you for the response.
Guess i'll have to see if I can setup a profile (possibly using phoneAlarm) that turns off push email, turns on wifi and then sets ActiveSync to sync at 5 min intervals and then a profile to turn push email back on.
hi. how many kb's per day does GPRS uses with Push mail?
tks

What i do is using the activesync schedule. During working hours i set activesync to "as they arrive", on other hours i set it once per hour.
When working/on-the-road i can't use wifi anyway. And back home i can turn on wifi as i like, since pushmail is automaticly turned off via the activesync schedule.
Simple, but it works for me
I have been tryin to setup the mail2web.com but when i install the cab i get an error message that the install was unsuccessful.. what am i doing wrong

How to force activesync to use only wifi

Is there some way to force activesync to use the wifi connection only? When wifi isn't connected activesync and, i'm assuming other apps, revert back to 3G or GPRS. My data plan is crap so I'd prefer not to sync at all when I don't have wifi available. I'm using dutty's latest rom, btw.
Google search says: http://www.wifizard.com/tutorialsXP/sync/index.htm
Thats an old article and no longer works for local connections to your computer. When MS released WM5 and the new activesync (which WM5 requires) the feature to sync over WiFi was removed. We were left with with syncing over USB, Bluetooth. If you have an exchange server you can sync to it over WiFi (the only feature you loose is Push Email).
Thanks for the replies. I should clarify my situation though. I sync to an exchange server and an imap server with no problem. But I have it scheduled to sync on a regular basis. So, if wifi isn't available then activesync will automatically use my data connection. I'm looking for a way to have it only use wifi and never the data connection. If wifi isn't available, I don't want to sync.

Disable your data connections completely

hotmail wont use wifi

hi all,
If i switch on wifi and check my pop accts or browse the web all is well. however, if i check my hotmail it starts a 3g session. anyone know why it wont use wifi?

If this has anything to do with Windows Live / messenger, then it'll always ignore the Wifi connection. Try manually setting up an IMAP account in pocket outlook.
Nah, had this working through wifi on a previous ROM so must have set it up differently. Have a feeling I usually install it usnig WIFI but may have used 3G this time - maybe it assigns preference to the first one it uses - might uninstalla nd re-install with wifi to see if that works...

Email services war

Hi,
I have data plan with Blackberry service unlimited(for email with BBconnection) + 1GB Internet (over another connection).
The problem is that BBConnect works as service and its connection is almost all time active and changes with inet connection only when i browse, yuotube or use some inet programs and no way to use programs that required permanent internet connection .
I use BBConnect for only 1 email account (not enterprise) and forward all email to this one.
Another plan for the same money is 3GB Internet .
And I be faced with a dilemma - if I use this plan everything seem be OK - one alltime connection, no obstacle another connection , but I don't make choice how to use email:
- use SEVEN as push email service (i tried for 2-3 days together with BBConnect and battery drains very fast)...
- use ordinary way (pop3 accounts, check every 5 minutes )
- use microsoft direct push in conjunction with mail2web as an example
- use imap push or something else
pls help me guys to make right choice.
p.s. sorry for my bad english ...

Problems connecting to hotmail account

Hi There,
I have a HTC viva, when I try an connect to my hotmail account (obviously using the correct settings etc), I get a message telling me that windows live was unable to establish an internet connection.
The data connection is turned on, I have had access to my mail before however, I have loaded spb menu on there and when I chech the internet side of this, it tries to open Opera to access the internet.
How do I stop the phone from using opera to access the internet, as I think it is this that is stopping me from getting my e-mails etc?
Also, cannot send or receive picture messages, as like the above, my type of contract lets me do this.
Cheers
