Hi there - does anyone know how the lowest line of the start screen can be changed i.e. is it possible to change the list of programms which appear ?
THANKS
Myrin
The Start menu? Sure, start, settings, personal tab, menus. If any appear to be locked (won't let you remove unselect them) then you need to use total commander or equivalent and go to My Device/Windows/Start Menu and delete the unwanted shortcuts. You would then be able to use the menu program above to add in up to seven programs that you want.

I think you mean the bottom line of the Today Screen.
So, you want to change the shortcuts of the HTC Homeplug?
I don't know how to do that cause I don't use it. Maybe anyone knows?
Pls see the file attached - this line below I mean !!!
So you want to change the programs accessed by the soft keys on the Today screen? Vito Button Mapper will let you do this.
Will it work also with Magic Button ?
I'm getting headache with the screenshot
Anyway, I think peter7 meant the Tray Bar program.
I think he is using some Tray Launcher of some sort. Difficult to look at the screenshot.
what the hell did you use to take the screenshot, a Sharpy?
Can you take a better screenshot, this time with a screenshot application that actually takes color images?
anyways, that is one strange looking today screen you got there. What's the icons next to the start button?

Is it possible to remove to whole bar at the bottom of the home screen? Mine has links to contact & calender, but I just want to remove it since I dont use them at all...
Any ideas?
soft key applet
you can use a program called soft key applet, which is downloadable from the xda ftp site, not sure if you can simply turn these off, but you can assign different programs to them.
I use dcinobar, you can just click the .exe to enable / disable it. I have mine placed in the \windows\startup folder works perfectly.

nice post, def. gonna try this one out when I get the chance as I never use the on screen soft keys anyway,(plus I know I ain't the only one who can't stand the fact that the home screen plugin from HTC doesn't allow one to scroll down the today screen in landscape mode)and a little extra room is welcomed with open arms. I'm guessing you can still use the soft keys if you want to by pressing the hw buttons on the device right????
cheers
Heres the trick..
It LOOKS a lot better. It makes more of your image available to use.
But wither or not you use the buttons doesnt even matter, because when at the today screen, even if you press those buttons they still work. I use mine all the time, but I dont like the clutter, but it doesnt matter. I just remember what buttons do what, since they still work.
Im adding this to my newbie thread
Thanks!!
This gives the homescreen just a bit more room.
Another nice mod is to remove the iconset for the unlock/com man/etc located above this bar. I used the regedit method using total commander- simply delete the following from your registry:
\\HKLM\INIT\LAUNCH92
This is the key that launches the tray application at boot (To re-enable create the registry key above with the value TrayAp.exe)
Have fun!

Actually I found the tray icons very useful and actually added my own tray from batterstatus. One touch activation of any of the radio's and various programs makes using the tray very efficient. Plus you can access the tray without even touching the screen so its a win-win in my eyes.
Regarding Neptunes' first post at the top,
"(plus I know I ain't the only one who can't stand the fact that the home screen plugin from HTC doesn't allow one to scroll down the today screen in landscape mode)"
I have spent days looking for a fix/patch for this. Is not having the scroll feature in landscape mode the final answer on this one?
Thanks guys!
Scroll
Go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\HTC Home and change the type to 4.
Poweroff and poweron.
Thanks, exactly what i need.
Hello guys,
This forum is awesome, it is like make a a wish, and it comes true
now I have a question, the battery status has a great feature of showing the CPU load under the clock on the top bar. thru that i can really see if the device busy doing something!
but this is working only when I disable the TF3D. does anyone know how to get that working with the TF3D?
is it also possible to have the other indicator of battery status, they were very useful. The TF3D is taking the whole screen leaving no space for anything else
cheeers!
as far as i know what you want isnt possible... sorry...
until someone comes up with a modification of tf3d that is...
but until then i`m afraid you must look onto alternatives..
for example:
what i did:
installed mortscript, making it able to run scripts..
installed a script wich made it swap between tf3d and today.
bound a hardkey to this script, whenever i hold down this key is promts me the question to change, if i want, i click ok, and it shuts down tf3d and goed to the original todayscreen... holding this key again it does the opposite.. thus starting tf3d...
now ive got the best of both worlds...
i like this solution far more then secondtoday, this way its even frees up ram because the manilla.exe is really shut down..
all plugins like homescreen++ (formely batterystatus) stay active this way... unlike when you just untick the tf3d in "items" wich will leave yoe with a blank today over and over..
thank you for ur answer, that is also takes time to switch between both applications, the niche thing in the battery status, is just one can see system status without pressing anything!
@ Make a search for " FinixNoverBattery.Cab";see here.
It shows you the status of the Battery and your connection.

yes treu,
but it doesnt show any other information that was already shown in tf3d. only a more precise indicator for the batterystatus..
only way i could think of would be seriously changing the tf3f itself to show some stats... maybe a exta tab could be made by someone...

Hey man
Sounds great.
Can you post the script please
I dont really understand why the TF3D is blocking the indicators of the battery status under the clock on the upper taskbar, they are shown on the top of all windows, not only on the today screen. iam here concerned in the CPU load indicator?
Check
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401907&highlight=secondtoday
That will be do the trick allowing you to INSTANT-change between tf3d and "normal" today.
The first time you open it all today plugins must be loaded so it takes a little more time (like 4 seconds in my diamond... but the time depends on the number of plugins u want to load) ... but after first load the change takes 0 seconds... u can use a mapped hardware button or through your "most viewed" apps (big icons) in the start menu .... or whatever way ....
I'm using it in my diamond and works perfect !
By the way ... the creator of secondtoday is the same as batterystatus

They are not talking about seeing the status of their battery, they're talking about displaying a software called 'batterystatus' on their today screen
TFT3D & Battery Status
The software batterstatus `now renamed to homescreen plus plus.
With secondtoday and homescreen ++ you can show several systemparameter eg. battery, temperature,hd etc. (see my attachments)
you can find the program here:

I am using your wonderful program on my Samsung i900 omnia. But have the following problem.
In the settings for second today I assign the right soft key to SecondToday. Then I click on Apply to Registry. This works fine and I can toggle between my first and second today screen using this soft key.
You can find more in his forum, see attachment.

I recently bought TD2, and is by no means a big fan of the new startmenu. How is it possible to replace it with the "old" one ?
I've been searching the forum, since I've heard of a little program that can fix this issue, but without luck .
Thanks in advance !
The new start menu comes as part of Touch Flo 3D.....If you distable TF3D in settings\personal\today\items, you get the old menu system.
I'm amazed that anyone would prefer the old WM one.

There are two great lacks in the new menu :
1. too few items available in the 'icons' start page, and no kind of sub-folders or program groups.
then
2. if you go in the full list because your program is not in the icons page, the list can be long and fastidious.
Hope it will be corrected in next version and be available for D2, or windows 6.5 titanium/CHome will replace TF3D
Try TF3D2 Tweak in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502102
Thank you all, for your replies .
If you just want to change the start menu but leave Manila turned on, just change the following in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu\Enable ManilaStartMenu =dword:00000000
After a restart you have the old start menu
Is it possiple too keep both ways?
I mean when you press the start menu on the top of the screen to have the old start menu and when you press the windows hard key to have the new one?
I think this would be more usefull for many people who like the new menu but want some features of the old one!

Ah right, I see. I've not hit that issue, I guess I just don't use that many programs!
One question: how can I enable the old style like in WM 6.1.
I use 6.5 without Manilla (UDK R1.)
It's annoying to select start/settings/connections if you want to set more the 1 thing...bluetooth, WIFI etc....also for programs.
Or how can I customize the start menu in 6.5 ...order, content...
another way
This would keep the new start menu when you tap on "start" and make pop-up a replica similar whith the old one when you tap on windows or whatever icon you have on the upper left corner of the screen near the text "start". I didn't make this just downloaded from somewhere.

Doesn't seem to work on my Diamond2. (Does nothing)
I was wondering if someone could do a buttom like the settings buttom in the new start menu that could open the old programs menu.
I think this shouldn't be so difficult, since there is a similar buttom for the settings.
Welcome here Liviu. (Bine ai venit pe aici, marfa site-u pt HTC-uri)
I try it Quick Menu, it's like Windows PC START menu and it's hard to use with a finger
I speak about the old menu from WM6.1 not Pc windows...
Ksara it's works on TD2 I try it and work well but it's not what I want.
You are right Pauln, it's not finger friendly but hei! that stylus is there so ...
Anyway for me it does the job so here is a pic for those who want an alternative. The icon "Quick menu" you will find also in Programs.

I'm one of them. I disabled touchflo and installed spb pocket plus: I've got everything in sight, with no need to flip over strange desktops and icons!
I found these registry entries somewhere else and i thing these are the key to make a shortcut in manila programs folder to the old Programs folder Just like there is for the settings folder (number 3)
"Remove the locked program tab items
Code:
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/0/IsReadOnly
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/1/IsReadOnly
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/2/IsReadOnly
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/3/IsReadOnly
Change this value from 1 to a 0 and you can then edit their shortcuts."
Please someone who is familiar with this , create a shortcut.

sorry if this is a dumb question - trying out ahome and it only has 2 screens by default, where do I set the number of screens?
I think it's on aHome settings. On the homescreen press Menu > More to get to settings. Havn't used aHome since 1.1 so it might be a little different now.
hmm... i get menu / ahome menus then loads of choices. can't spot it! :/
Haven't used aHome in a long time, but I have a feeling that if you move an icon to the edge of the screen it will extend it and add a new screen. Maybe I'm thinking if something else...?

yessir that is correct
In the aHome menu, in settings, it allows you to choose number of screens, allows you to number (or mark) each screen, and so on. I can't tell you exactly because aHome doesn't work on my current ROM. Check display settings in the extra menu on the home screen. It's in the same menu where you change your fonts and drawers and stuff.
Thanks a lot guys - Adrian yep that's it, currently you drag an icon to the edge to make a new screen!

I apologize, if English is not your first language, but every time I try to read this, it simply confuses me. You might need to try to reorganize your thoughts before you get a coherent answer.
First, there isn't a call button at the top of any screen I can find. There are call buttons at the bottom of several screens, mostly in the contacts apps. You need to be specific about which screen you are describing.
Total Commander is a third party application that has to be installed by an individual or cooked into a home-made ROM, so its integration into any button combination is automatically suspicious.
It almost sounds like you're talking about the Task Manager, in that you can switch between active programs using that tool. If that's what you were talking about, you should already have it. Go to Start > Settings > System (usually) > Task Manager. It usually has a white icon, and in many home-cooked ROMs there is more than one present. The one you want was written by/for HTC, not by DotFred or anyone else. Click the third tab of this app, and check Enable Quick Menu on Today screen.
