Is there a plug-in that will show the current temperature on the Today screen? I'm using SPB Mobile Shell, which has an icon for the condition outside (cloudy, sunny, etc.), but requires a click to get to the temperature. Anyone using anything that will display it without having to click?
Thanks.
You could use the HTC Home plugin and set the Weather tab to be first and to be the default tab. That may do it.
You could try Weather to Go although it appears to show min/max temps by default though not current temp. I dont know if that is good enough for your requirements. The std HTC Home always shows current temps for me when selected as it always wants to update before displaying anything despite being set to update automagically.
I use weather panel. It works great. You can set it for how often you want it to update the weather. It also allows you to view radar images of your area. It is free and although its a couple of years old works very well.

Thanks. No longer free -- 15 day trial, but it looks cool.
WeatherPanel just says it's a 15 day free trial. The developer for this app disappeared quite a while ago and must have turned off the trial before he left. Mine is also supposed to be the 15 day free trial version also but it's been working just fine for at least 8 months now.

This app is very nice, my passion is cycling.

New version is available for download
SPORTYPAL 1.0.6

I am going to try this out later, been using RunGPS for recording my running.
This looks great and simple, also you get to view all your results and records on line, which you can either allow others to view or not...brilliant, how did you find this software ?
I'm using the 1.0.7 version now, i can see the pace while running and also some other options added to their web service. Because i'm running on the same track good thing now is that i can compare my runs. Still trying to get good GPS coverage. Sometimes it gives me really correct mapping, but not always, I don't know if is the GPS or I have to change something in the settings?
I use this since it came out.
It has everything, loggs nicely, good social function, includes running and biking and has all the map **** you'd need.
It's pretty much perfect.

From FAQ:
Tracking accuracy of SportPal is dependent on the accuracy of the GPS data that it analyses. GPS accuracy is influenced by many factors, such as: atmosphere, the ionosphere and the position of your mobile phone.
I use Sportypal since it come out also.
It is greater every time I use it. I like new features compare tracks and goals.
Social part of Sportypal is the best, multyplatform and Sportypal friends are right features.
Yes, both of this features are very useful, especially the one for comparing tracks. I'm not that active for the goal feature .
From the social part I like the option to embed with the ride summary data along side the mapped route.

Yes the "goal" feature is interesting, in my case, I have to cycle at least 20 hours prior to 22/10 which I can then trace through the website. So I will see how the results are gonna be next week.

The beta (0.695) disappeared from my market a week or more ago... I had a backup .apk but that now reports that the beta period has expired and closes straight away.
The full version 1.0 is in my market, but priced at a fairly lofty $9.99..... quite expensive for an app in my eyes! I'm still trying to weight up whether it's worth it.
try toggle setting 2.5.8 it's nice, not like locale but 10$ its TOO much for that kind of program..
maybe can u try to look setting profiles full seems to be nice and still in development! it cost 3$..
ciao
setting profiles works actually better, easier than locale beta used to; also: less battery drain! Thanks to Locale making THEIR price so ridicul, showing that there are good alternatives!
I just switched from the Locale beta to Setting Profiles Full. In my opinion, it blows Locale out of the water.
It doesn't use GPS based location, only cell based. However, it seems way more responsive (no 10 min waits that I've observed). It also has an option to backup current settings. It can change the brightness without turning off the screen (something Locale said it couldn't do because of the OS). Battery consumption seems on par with what I had before, but I'm only on my second day of using it.
The only big thing I think it's missing is prioritizing the rules, so one rule can clobber another rule. Also, it doesn't support any kind of plugins.
I'm totally sold on it. I played with the free Lite version first. It has all the same functionality, but can only have one active rule. Once I saw it did everything I used Locale for, I purchased the full version. All the configuration I did in the Lite version imported to the Full version. I also put it on my wife's phone and restored a backup to it to copy all my settings there (another thing totally impossible with Locale).
For the record, I used Locale to alter brightness (including use of the Dark Screen plugin), alter volume, enable/disable wi-fi, and enable/disable airplane mode. I based this stuff on location, time of day, charging status, and calendar entrys. Settings Profiles does all this stuff just like Locale (but I miss Dark Screen).
So to sum it up, as a former Locale beta user, I think Setting Profiles is BETTER and well worth the $2.95 I spent for it.
Another plus point: my stubbering bluetooth headphone issue was also gone after switching from locale to setting profiles! Jogging is fun again!

Not old at all actually. The day I created it, I went through my installed applications and hand picked them. It was called something else and they changed the name only very recently.

Edit: Also just realized there was a typo in my original post. It's fixed now.
Sent from my Galaxy S2
that app never worked fine for me... I use another app called "MB Notifications for FB (Free)" (had a different name before but was suspended by Facebook for a while and had to change name)

I'm thinking of buying the pro version since the app is quite cool
Just bought a stylus. Was hoping it'd work on the vivid! If so, are there any note taking apps that are really nice? Thanks!
I use evernote with skitch, but there are more 'notebook' style apps out there that I'm only vaguely familiar with. Anyone else have suggestions? Also, which stylus did you get? I was thinking about getting one for use with my nook and vivid.

Does stylus work on Vivid ? Can you confirm please ..
Thanks
Any stylus should work, it's a matter of how well it works. without the custom software like the htc flyer and with the big footprint of most stylii, notes seem to take up way too much real estate on my phone, but acceptable on tablet. Personal preference though.

Not true. Has to t least be capacitive.
Oh. I sorta took the capacitive to be a given. Probably shouldn't have though...
There was one I liked but I can't think of the name right now. Will post it when it comes to me though. Acase seems decent but they all look like bit of a rip off to me. Could just buy capacitive foam, wire, and make your own. Tons of videos out there on how-to.
I'm wondering if the HTC one will work with our phone, the one used on the Flyer and Jetstream.
That would be awesome. Even more if we could get the app that lets us pen notes while recording and then link them to our calender, like with the tablets.
A student's perfect tool

Laranzu
Does this works with already existing calendars or you need to add that to the app ?
The app use the calendar associated to the account you set in your phone.
The app recover automatically the appointment set for each account.
And what are the benefits/advantages/unique features over built-in calendar? Why should I buy this one?

Because it displays week numbers, maybe?
I'll give it a try and report back...
Edit: On the Display page (as shown on last thumbnail) maybe you should leave the start and end times free to choose, not everybody does a normal job, you know, just an opinion. And by tapping the tile, day or week (depending on the tile tapped) should be opened instead of the parameters page which IMHO should be last..
Nice app otherwise, the built-in calendar is frustratingly lacking features.
well, the starting point of the project was to offer a week view. It's something that the built in app doesn't not offer
The browsing between the different view is done with flick instead of having to tap on an icone in the application bar. In the build in app to access month view you have an icon for that.
The month view i provide give some usefull information that let you know if you have appointment in the morning, afternoon or all day. The build in app just display text so small that it's useless.
You can swap easily between view by clicking on week number or on the days. Nice when you want to set an appointment in the futur.
For the tile, you have 2 kind of tiles : week or day. The built in app offer only day and for only the next appointment.
With my tile you can have a graphic view of the day or week and/or the next 2 appointment for the current day.
But the best way to discover the app is to give it a try
Its nice application, but only 5 starts in trial mode is very liitle :-( When i set Live Tiles, some options and trial is done :-( Cannot test, 10 starts could be better number...
One definite bug, and two maybes (first one is a bug);
1) When doing AM/PM, it shows Noon as 12AM middle of day - should be 12PM (this is on day and week views)
2) When viewing day, it does not display starting at the start time you select (not sure where it starts, at current time of day you view it?). Week does.
3) My live tile shows nothing when you first pin it. Takes awhile to show anything (I am guessing the 30 minutes).

This one is a critical; if author not implemented prompt tile updates (using push notification), this app is useless (regardless of week view).
1) hmm, my mistake. didn't notice that as i mainly use 24h.
2) when you display current day, time is set to the current time. When it's not current day, it's start à midnight. I have to agree that currently the parameter is not clear. Should be better with the next update
3) The first tile update is not generated from the app. you have to wait max 30mn. it's also something i'll adress in the next version.
Beside the first generation, update are running fine.
Thanks for the feedback, it'll help improve the application.

Thanks. Love the week view. My wife loved it so got it for her's as well.
Following the return of the betas testers and also of the first users, here are the main elements of future V1.1:
View:
- Addition of fixed hour day view (almost finished)
- Addition of a 24hours scrolling week view
Tile: Improvement
- dedicated screen for customization
- Tile preview in the app
- First tile generation made from the app
Number of launch for trail version increased : between 10 and 20 (to be defined)
+ several little things
Delay : Less longer than you wish, faster than you hope
Benefit from the last days to profit from launching price: change of price Monday
PS: don’t hesitate to evaluate the application
One suggestion, please consider making it open on the day view instead of the parameters page.
It's already done
check in the parameters

This is a nice app. I'll like it more when it can be used to actually edit the calendar. I understand this is a limitation of the OS and not the app though.
A thought:
I don't like when calendars show Sun at the end of the week. It'd be nice to have the option to have it at the beginning of the week.
My touchpad is still going strong. Amazing this old dinosaur is still working. Sadly it's too slow to do much with. I tried setting it up for my toddler, but after numerous attempts at games and whatnot we've given up - just too slow.
My wife asked me if I could at least make it into a clock. I thought adding weather to it would be nice. I used to have this working prior to installing the latest tenderloin OS, but can't seem to make it work now.
Running ev_tenderloin-9-userbuild-2019.08.30, been running OK for over a year.
It sits in the wireless charging cradle.
The OS doesn't have the 'always on' option in settings. At least not that I could find.
I can not find an app in the play store (after trying half a dozen) which will
a. Be an always on clock
b. include weather
I did find one app called "Clock Weather Launcher Clean" which seemed to show promise of at least handling the clock side of it because it had a setting to make it always on, but it's a pay now test later app which times out after 3min. no real way to test if I don't want to take the risk of pay now.
Anyone have any suggestions to making this work?
As always, thanks in advance.
woops, sorry mods, double post, please delete this one
