Hi All,
New to this forum (and to PDA phones). I recently got a Vario III which so far is working very well.
A couple of queries though! I want to set up sound profiles.
eg:
General - All Alerts (Mail/Call/Alarm/Notification) give a vibrate and ring
Silent - All Alerts (Mail/Call/Alarm/Notification) gives a vibrate
Night Mode - Call and Alarm Alerts gives a ring while Mail and Notifications are slient
The problem is that I use my current phone as my alarm clock but spam often arrives to the Vario III in the night disturbing my beauty sleep (which I need lots of) so I put the phone on silent but then the alarm doesn't sound!
I'm sure if I can do this or even how I go about it so any hints would be greatly appreciated.
Also can anyone recommend a bluetooth handsfree that works with it? My current Sony Erricson one isn't recognised for some reason!
Thanks in advance,
Phill
Phill,
I use phoneAlarm from pocketmax.net
pA let you set profiles and automate them per time and/ or specific situation (like automatically switching to Flight mode for a scheduled flight)
There is not a blacklist capability (yet), but you can set a profile that shuts off the SMS and email alarms during certain times.
Great app!
Good luck!
Richard
PhoneAlarm is a very good product, but it can be overkill for some.
SPB Phone Suite is a "lighter" app with less customization, but many of the same features. It also adds whitelist/blacklist capabilities and automatic profile switching.
There are other apps that you can find as well with a quick Google search.
Personally, I find Phone Suite to be perfect for me, but if you want more profiles & control, PA is a better product.
I just use flight mode at night and switch the phone to vibrate for theaters and the like. Easy but effective. Of course, I don't want to have my sleep interupted by a phone call, your needs/desires may be different.
The advantage to PA, Phone Suite and similar apps is the automated features. When my calendar has an appointment that shows my time as "busy," the phone goes into vibrate mode automatically. When I connect with my BT headset, the profile goes to "Headset" and reconfigures some settings automatically. When it's night, the phone only rings for people on my white list and I don't get most notifications.
There's more to the app than that, but it's that's a rough summary of the profiles. It's a great addition to the today screen and phone.

In moving from wm5 to wm6, my favorite alarm clock, WolfClock, seems to be broken. It works fine as long as the Kaiser is on. But if it goes off, when the time for the alarm comes, it turns on ok, but no sound is produced by the alarm. ARGHHH!
The developer is no longer working on this, so I don't think he will fix it.
So, my questions are:
a) there is a debug mode....anyone want to suggest what I should look for and how to "fix" this?
or
b) what's a good alternative? I tried SPB Time, WaWa Clock...didn't like either one. Other suggestions? (Can't stand the built-in alarms...so don't bother suggesting that!) Would prefer free but will settle for something pleasant, customizable, and can do alarms, snooze, and - my favorite - naps!
Thanks.
I use DelMar alarm clock and I really like it. The only issue I am aware of is that I am pretty sure it won't wake up the phone to sound the alarm, but since my phone is plugged in at night and I have the power settings to not turn the phone off if on external power, it's not that big of an issue.
.:Christian:.
enAlarmPPC
I use enAlarmPPC. Nothing fancy but it has worked 100% reliably for me. One of the nifty features to me is that when the alarm goes off almost the entire screen acts as a snooze button (you can tap anywhere on the screen to activate the snooze). & its Not bloatware (not bloated with useless graphics and such).

Delmar is the same way.
I'm also using enAlarmPPC. It does exactly what it has to do!
Works perfect with WM6 even with Slide2Unlock2 running not a problem.
I don't know what it is about WM6 but I've had a lot of problems with alarm clocks and timers not being able to wake the phone up to go off.
I have been using pTravel Alarm from BurrOak Software for three weeks now in my Tilt.
It works flawlessly, wakes-up the phone to sound the morning alarm and doesn't seem to have caused any freeze-ups at all.
It uses a large clock display. I set it at night before I pass out and it is about the only time I actually tilt my Tilt.

I Use SPB Time Its Really Nice it has a nice clock plugin and the alarm lets u put ur own wake up tones.
Download It Here!
admin edit: serial removed, warez is not allowed!
I am using Chronos Time Clock (www.activekitten.com).
Very reliable and never failed to wake up the device.
One of the very useful things for me is that you can pre-program it to send a text message at a specific time. Very useful for birthday wishes to go out at 00:00 when you are fast asleep.
I'm using CradleAlarm now, that is the successor of enAlarmPPC. Has many nice features and seems to be very reliable. And the price is OK, too!

another vote for chronos, but haven't used it for awhile. had the smartphone version w/ my mpx220 but it was buggy on my strtrk. i switched at that point to GenTimer, love it as well.
I'm running the PPC version of GenTimer on my Tilt and it's very nice, entire screen functions as 'SNOOZE' with a long-press and it never fails to wake the device up. Very customizeable, skins are kinda ick so I've rebadged the exe resources images and resigned it to run.
It includes alarms, clock, world time, stop watch, timers, etc.
Chris
I am also using Chronos and it works great. Another alarm that i used to use was enalarm pocket pc. They changed the name now to cradlealarm i think but they both work great.
I use GSAlarmClock ver 1.20
It's FREE and allows me to mute my phone so SMS and Email doesn't wake me up but the alarm still sounds.
Works flawlessly, never late for work thanks to the annoying alarm sound it makes that forces you to get out of bed!
My fav by far.
hey everyone, i have a att tilt and was curious if i am able to change my ringer profile from normal to load like on other windows phone. Ive been searching and i haven't found a definite answer . thanks again steve
You can use SPB PhoneSuit. It has many profiles options and its customizable.
I think you will find this litlle app very helpful. (Phone Alarm) You can set like up to 10 custom profiles your phone, ie Work, Home, Theater. Then you can set it up so that either based of time or ur GPS position, the profile will automatically change. Or you can just make a simple silent profile and loud profile and then manually switch back and forth.
Hello. Here is what I am looking for and maybe my Fuze can already do this, but I can not figure it out.
I would like to have more control of the phone profile options like I used to have on my Blackberry phones. Basically I want to be able to make custom profiles.
For example. With my old phones I was able to use an "advanced" feature in the phone profile section to create what I called a "night" setting. When this setting was activated the entire phone was on silent (texts, emails, etc, everything was silent) EXCEPT the phone, which would ring if I received a call. So it was basically a "phone only" setting. This was perfect at night because I would only receive a call if it was a real emergency.
Or let's say I want EVERYTHING to vibrate EXCEPT the phone that I want to ring. On my Fuze I see how to put the entire phone on "vibrate" or "silent", or "normal", but how do I adjust those profile settings if I want to or create new profiles
Is there a program/script/plugin that will accomplish this? Or can I already do it on the phone?
Thanks for any help with this.
i am looking for something like this too so if anyone knows of a program that does this or can make one that would be really awesome.
phoneAlarm from pocketmax.net is the program you want.
You can create several different profiles controlling everything from ring and alarm tones to backlight level to WiFi status and automate switching between each of them based on time, appointment, location...
Though written as a Today screen plug-in, there is a TouchFlo support mode that lets you run TF as well.

dgduris, thank you for the info. I am going to go check it out now to learn more. I am currently using spb Mobile shell. Does it work with this program?
thanks again for the info. I will report back what I find and how it works!
How does phonealarm support TouchFlo? I used to use phonealarm with my 8525. But with my new Fuze, I've been trying out SBSH Phoneweaver. Which seems to be working well enough. It has a pop-up profile screen menu overlay that I set to one of my buttons.
spb phone suite was the answer for me. really a nice program.
does spb phone suite mess with the Touch Flo? and my manila? i dont want to have the entire SPB thing show up in my home screen. I want to it to be like an app where i can just open it and chang I just want to be able to change profie profiles and then close it again.
I believe it will be in your profiles or setting list and it does not mess with TF3D. It works great with my Mobile Shell touch screen settings also.
Hi folks
I'm just curious as to what alarm applications you guys are using. I'm find the built in "Clock & Alarms" to be somewhat limited as it only allows for 3 alarms.
I would like something similar to it, but to be able to easily add new alarms, and maybe even customize the ringtone/vibrations for them individualy, if possible.
Thanks for your interest

You won't find anything better than G-alarm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422362
I use the alarm functionality in MortPlayer.
It has the advantage of turning the volume up and launching itself (obviously).
This leaves my phone ready to resume playing the podcast or audio book I was listening to the night before with just one button press.
This affords me another 30 seconds in bed ;-)

I've tried them all, and for me, the best is phoneAlarm, PERIOD!!!
SPB Time
While not free, it is a nice option. Very easy to use.
After trying Mobile Shell, I tried just about everything else the SPB house has put out. Some I tried and deleted, like the lame SPB Online, this is one I kept.
i second G-alarm. nice if you are looking for a free program.
pTravelAlarm
I also agree that G-Alarm is one of the best. You can set multiple alarms for reoccurring times and days. Also, you have to make a ball run through a maze before you can hit the "Snooze" button. It kind of forces your mind to wake so you dont just roll over, hit a snooze and fall back asleep
Also, it also automatically turns the volume to max even if its on silent. Handy feature if you do like I do and leave your cell on silent all of the time when working, then forget to turn it back on later

Here's a good one, too.
SPB Time
Like someone said earlier: Since I use Spb Mobile Shell, I found that Spb Time is perfect. It includes an optional today plugin and can be a tab in Mobile Shell. It lets you set one-time alarms, recurring alarms and you can set specific sound files to each one (can also set to vibrate and auto-snooze).
I still use pTravelalarm.

very good, and finger-friendly. installed all of the others mentioned above and winded up using this. Still happy.
Hi!
I'd like to ask for your help. What I want is to use my alarm (to wake me up) and at the same time ringing and vibration for incoming calls and SMS should be muted. I.e. alarm with phone profile set to Silent.
Currently I use Pocket WakeUp application which does not offer such possibility.
(This is no problem with my old SE K750 "dumb-phone".)
Thanks
i can suggest TWO options:
1. if you want to use the windows mobile built in alarm functionality, go to Settings->Clocks & Alarms and make sure that "Sound alarms even when the device is set to silent or vibrate" is CHECKED.
2. use "G Alarm"! you can find version 1.5.1 somewhere...it was the last version that was free. if you like it, go ahead and pay for the LATEST version. it is an EXCELLENT alarm application.
i personally use option 2. option 1 is available on most new versions of windows mobile. i'm not sure if it is present in windows mobile 6.0 but i am sure i have seen this option in every build of windows mobile 6.5 and 6.5.x that i have used.
Thanks, ASCIIker!
The problem I'm having with the 1st method is that I can't set the alarm sound to whatever I like (WM6.1)
So I'm probably going to try G Alarm.
Although it looks as though the OP has already decided to try Galarm, I thought I'd post to say that I quickly found version 1.5.1 last night and have used it succesfully today. It's a cracking little bit of kit and works as you would need it to.
You can switch your profile to mute or silent and the alarm will still go off in the morning. The added bonus for me was that you could personalise elements such as snooze time, puzzles to wake you up or prevent you snoozing, you can create a playlist of mp3's as your alarm tone, you can start other apps be default too.
Awesome bit of software and it's easy enough for a noob like me to understand.
I finally got to test Galarm. Well, on the positive side it works. And on the negative, it is quite slow on my HTC Kaiser
Edit: Well, it is slow, but it does not have to be running permanently
