when i open the calander i get this error:
The file "htcCalander" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.
the last thing i installed was the htc audio manager...
not sure if that is the cause?
how can i fix the calander?
Mine still loads the windows calender.
I'm running htc home and htc audio.
not sure what ya did to get that calender to come up, but you did something
if i can find where in the registry it points to HTCCalender.exe, i could change it to Calender.exe...
i tried renameing calander.exe to HTCCalander.exe, but it woudent let me
turns out the left softkey is the only problem, i can get to the calander from the start menu...
i used "Softkey Changer.CAB" i think this changed the left softkey link to HTCCalander instead of calander...

Hello, I have a Kaiser and I installed the Softkey applet. Then I tried it out and switched the Left button to a different application. I went to switch it back to the Calendar as it was originally and now I get an error when i click the left button for the Calendar that says "The file 'HTCCalendar' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file." It only seems to give this type of error when I set the Left Softkey to be for the Calendar and new SMS or new MMS messages.
Has anyone else experienced this type of problem?
Anyone know how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
El
anybody know what may cause this??
I have had the same problem. I cannot figure it out yet! I'm getting upset.
Copy that...mine won't reasign. It says "contacts" but pulls up the "calendar" on the left softkey.
Softkey Solution
HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Today/Keys/113
Changing the "(Default)" Key value will change the keys displayed name.
Changing the "Open" key to the appropriate alias will then cause that function to be opened by the soft key. i.e. For contacts change the "Open" key value to :MSCONTACTS will make the softkey function as contacts button.
Note that HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Today/Keys/113 is for the right key & HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Today/Keys/112 is for the left key!
THANK YOU!! That worked after a little messing around. It was the first time I changed something in the registry. I appreciate you taking time to help me out.
Works great, thanks!
i went through all this but when i get to the 113 and 112 keys there's is nothing displayed in the lower half of my screen where you can normally change it any ideas?

nm i found the right one in the softkey program it's fine now
Same Problem
I have the same problem:
I changed the Registry Keys for the Softkey 1 and 2 on a Windows Mobile to start a .exe with parameters.
I changed the following keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113
the Open value contains the path to the exe file plus an argument.
(For example "\Path\To\Exe.exe Argument")
If i start the file via the File Explorer it works.
If i try to start it via the left or write button (SK1, SK2) i get the error, which contains the trusted certificate...
The path to the file is definitly right.
I should mention that i get the error on every device i tried...
hey guys, as you know, the left soft key is mapped for the calender, and i had no issue with it. i used the program in dutty's #7 rom to change it to something else (htc action button).. however, i decided to change it back to calender, and now every time i try to open the calender through the left soft key i get the following error message:
"The file "HTCCalendar" cannot be opened. either it is not sined with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. if the problem persisits, try reinstalling or restoring this file"
whats going on? thanks
omar
Use a registry editor and go to the following key:
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112
Change the value of "open" from HTCCalendar.exe to calendar.exe - there is no HTC version of the calendar application, but the soft key changer seems to think there is!
Mark.
hey thanks for your help, i did what you said, and now it gives me the same error message but with Calendar instead of HTCCalendar. ha u know whats going on? thanks
Does your registry key look like this?
\windows\LSK\calendar.exe
If so, look in your LSK folder in Windows via Explorer and I'll bet you'll find it's empty. Mine was and I had the same error as you. All I did to fix it was remove the LSK\ from the registry. Soft reset and it should work, mine does.
Yeah...what he said
Sorry, I forgot to say you had to remove the "LSK" bit from the path in the registry key.....it was late and I was tired OK
Hope it's working now!
Mark.
hey guys, worked perfectly, thanks for all ur help!

I just noticed this fix doesn't stick and will be wiped out during a SR. Maybe it's something I've done wrong.
EDIT: Memmaid was causing this problem during a Quick Clean operation.
Hi folks,
Is there a way to remap the soft keys on the Kaiser?
I am sure there is; I would appreciate it if someone explained to me how.
I had to uninstall Pocket Informant and I can't access the original Calendar app on the left soft key!!!
Many thanks,
MAC

SoftKey Changer
There you go.. Install, soft reset, and its under Start -> Settings -> System
I gave it a try but my expectations were that would be what that soft key would be no matter what program I'm in, but that is not the case. I guess I'll use somethign else like AE Button to get teh keys I want.
Thanks for the post though.
[EDIT]
By the way, after uninstalling, the button assignments remain. Interesting.
Yep use AE Button. It's an amazing tool! Although be careful what you change as it can mess up your device used carelessly.

Thanks very much. I will give this a try.
In the meantime I had to restore a previous version from SPB Backup and this got sorted. I have decided not to re-install Pocket Informant 8 as it caused some isues with ringtones and performance.
I put this on my HTC Tilt and it works awesome, exactly what i was looking for to change the two soft keys.
Hi there, hope everyone is well.
I installed the softkey changer cab , and it seemed to install fine. I was able to find it under settings with no problem and set the left softket to 'new sms'. However when I try to actualy use this from the homescreen i get an error message saying:
"The file 'tnsms' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components could not be found. If the problem persists try reinstalling or restoring this file."
I have tried reinstalling, but got the same problem. I can still send an sms if I go through contacts, or messaging, but would love to have this as a working softkey as it tends to be the function I use the most.
Other than installing google maps and opera mini, there have been no changes made since I received the phone a few days ago. It is a standard HTC tytn II.
I'm completely new to this, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, James.

This helped:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357163
Essentially, change the value of the key to /Windows/(your SMS program)
Mine was tmail.exe.
Now I wonder... how do I not go to the messages screen and go directly to a new SMS?
I'm having the same problem on a Tilt.

Thanks for the advice, I will probably give that a go when I've stopped being so scared of changing registry stuff.
I did find another app that does the trick though. Just make sure you add a shortcut to 'new sms' first (bottom option of the config screen), you should then be able to assign this to either softkey.
Works for me, and I'm able to go straight to a new sms from the homescreen.
Hope it helps, all the best.

Does anyone has a clue if we can remove the small mobile icon on the photo in the Favorite People? I notice this icon will show up if I have more than 1 number ties to the person.
just delete hh_people_16x16_device.png, hh_people_16x16_home.png and hh_people_16x16_working.png from your windows directory.
these are the small icons...
HAllo,
I have the same problem...i found these files in windows directory but the menu items "Delete" or "Cut" are disabled. What can i do? Thanks
petervbeck: Thanks but like Queenmercury I do not have the option to delete them. They are part of the ROM probably because I have a HTC TyTn II. Any program that I can use to remove unwanted ROM files?
xoxo
You can't delete because the files are in use by HTC Home.
Disable HTC Home in Settings -> Today and try again.
If it's still not working, try using TotalCommander to delete the files.
--> Sorry for wrong information: Solution see Post #10
I tried using Resco Explorer to delete. No luck. Error: Files are part of the ROM.
Let me make sure, on the HTC HOME screen you are trying to get rid of the "Contacts" tab (the one where you can assign phone numbers to little blocks)
I did it because I have an app called face contacts which works much better. lol
I just tried this and it works but you have to install a few other CAB files to get it to work.
go to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319308&highlight=home+customiser
Then follow the directions to install the HTC HOME CUSTOMIZER (HHC)
when you go to the set up on the bottom tabs in the HHC there is a tab for the HTC HOME "tabs"
It is there where you can add or take out specific tabs.
hopefully it works for you like it did me.
No, they just want to get rid of the little icon that attaches itself the the front of the contacts image when you assign a specific number, eg mobile instead of home.
I also tried disabling the home screen, deleted the icons with resco, but the icons were there again when I restarted the plugin.
Tried restarting device, and the files I got rid of were there again...
I have the opposite problem... I have the Favorite people tab checked so that it should be on my Today screen. No matter what I do, I can only get the today, weather, launcher, ringtones and musice tabs to show up. I would actually like the Favorite people tab on the today screen. I have the HHC program and have put contacts in, but still no tab showing up.

Have you tried to delete this registry key already ?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/MASD/QuickDial
it's not that hard to find when you do a quick search.... maybe next time....
To keii and Queenmercury:
The solution are transparent pics, see attachment.
Disable HTC Home and then replace the existing files with the attached files. Works fine on my Kaiser
I did a search but did not get any results. When I followed your link to quick search, there it was. Apparently I have not been searching the entire site, only Kaiser. Thanks... the fix did indeed work and I will use the quick search from now on!

Many thanks petervbeck for prompt response but it's still not working. I tried to replace the files with your transparent and it's telling me they are read-only file.
Is there a registry key I can edit to remove the picture?
i have a remaping app for my tilt , but i cant seem to find the lnk or exe for device lock.
any one can help me on remapping my left softkey to "lock my device"
thanks !
Re - Remap left softkey to lock the phone
Why don't you try HTC end Key.cab, it works great and you don't have to lose the use of the soft key.
see - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356192&highlight=Long_End.lnk
I use this right here courtesy of AllTheWay.

I just tried this and the phone lock is not an option on my phone with this. Also when I tried to uninstall this cab my left softkey that is mapped to calendar, now gives me an error, something like, the file 'htc calendar cannot be opened......' Also when I installed it, it changed the color of my today screen back to att default. I fixed this by just changing my theme and then changing it back. Any clue how to make the calendar button work right again?
alright im going to take a look @ that.
What Rom are you using?
Found the solution for you but need to know what ROM you're running.
On your phone, open your registry editor. If you don't have one, get it here. Navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open. Change the Data String from \Windows\??????? to (This is what a stock ROM should be) \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Device Lock.lnk
If you have a different ROM, I have no clue. But, I will keep checking for ya.
I am running the stock rom from att. I don't have a registry editor yet, but I will try the one you posted and try to fix it in the morning, when I get back up to work. Thanks!
Good luck, bro. I'd check the link I provided (Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Device Lock.lnk) to make sure that Device Lock.lnk is there. If it is then you'll be good to go. If not, check in other folders for it. It will be in your windows folder or windows sub folders somewhere. Let us know how it turns out for you.
i think that devicelock.lnk is what i cant find when remapping . its not in my windows folder
im using L26 v11 Rom
I am not able to find the devicelock.lnk either, I have looked in the windows/startup/programs folder and it is not there. I looked all through the windows folder also and could not find it although the windows folder itself is quite large and I may have just missed it.
