Restore SIM contacts to PDA? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have a sim card with only 100 entries, so I have 200+ numbers in my old GSM phone. The Kaiser is my first PDA/XDA (what to call it?). I have a backup of all numbers, but I cannot see how I can get all these numbers into the Kaiser without entering all of them manually - or - copying 100 at a time, from the sim card. There must be some way of restoring contacts from file to the phone?
Of course I also want to be able to back up my contacts in the future (I am not using Outlook, btw). Software for that?

use sim manager, it's in the contact's menu button.

I have been there already. I am not looking for copying from sim to phone, but from a contacts file to the phone. Something like "Import ..." or "Import vCard". I used to use Oxygen Phone Manager, but it seems it does not work for PDAs, so I need to find similar program for PDA - also to back up all the info I have gathered in it by now ...

What do you plan to use to manage contacts on your PC? Once you've figured that out, import your file into it, then sync that with your PDA. There's no "Import from File" feature in WM.

Try NS Contacts .. http://nscontacts.nyxbull.net

Contacts problem.

In trinity, when you copy contacts from sim to phone, u only see phone contacts. So you can edit and save more information under contacts stored on phone. However, in Kaiser, when you enter sim card, all sim contacts are already shown under contacts and sim contacts have limited editing. So in case you copy contacts from sim to phone, it makes it double in conatcs, showing two entries, one saved on phone and one on sim.
Is it possible to view only phone stored contacts without actually deleting contatcs from sim. I want original contacts to be stored on the sim. But copy of them should be in phone with extended informations like 2nd numbers, address, emails etc. But how to avoid two enteries? How to switch sim contacs off in "Contacts"???
I tried finding any solution but :-(.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Email contacts...

Hey does anyone know how to get all the contacts that are listed in my Gmail account onto my phone so that when i compose new messages i dont have to type a person's entire email address?
It seems like there has to be a way but i can't quite figure it out.
Thanks!
I'm sticking my neck out a bit here, but I think this will work
Load up your Gmail account on your PC, and go to Contacts; over on the top right of the contacts display is an "Export" link. This opens a new window, with two choices - pick the one that says "export to Outlook" and then save the file it generates somewhere on your PC. If you don't want every single contact imported to the phone, edit the .CSV file with Notepad (or whatever) and delete the lines containing the contacts you don't want. When you're done editing, save the file back as a .CSC file with the same name. That's the easy bit, now comes some fun
Use ActiveSync to copy the .CSC file to somewhere on your phone - the Storage Card is probably as good a place as any......then,
....use DotFred's "PPC PIM Backup" utility - get it from HERE - on your phone and select "Restore" from the drop down list on the first screen. Then navigate to where you saved the .CSC file on your phone and select "Next". You will then see a screen similar to the one attached - make sure you select "Comma" as the field delimiter and then tap Next to import the contact data...
CAVEAT: If you have contacts already stored on your phone, use PPCPIMbackup to take a backup of them first.....just in case this procedure f*&ks things up completely (as I said at the beginning, it should work!!).
You should now have all your Gmail contacts on your phone and you can edit them with the phone's Contacts application so they look (maybe) a bit more presentable...
Hope this is of some help
Mark.

No contacts in htc home favorite people

All my contacts are in the regular contact option, but when I tap on an empty slot in "favorite people" the contact list only shows the "built in" contacts (pay bill, etc), none of my personal entries appear.
I have the latest (I think) 6-tab version of htc home on my AT&T Tilt.
Are your contacts all on the SIM card?
I believe so. The salesman transfered them to the sim when I bought the Tilt.
ok, here's what your going to do. Go into the sim manager (I don't have the tilt rom so you need to interpret and do detective work) then copy all your sim contacts to contacts (on the phone). Then search this forum for kaisersimfix.cab or something like that (because your contacts will double in your contact manager... sim/and phone ... the fix removes the sim listings)
Then you're set.
Thanks, that did it.

Sim Manger from HTC not showing all contacts

So I had this problem with several sim managers, but I'm currently using the latest one from HTC. I have 150 some odd contacts on my sim card. I'm trying to copy over all contacts from sim to contact list in the phone. But when I view them in Sim Manager, it only shows part of my list of contacts. About 60 or so. I can refresh the list all day, reboot the phone...but I can never get it to view all the contacts. If I remove my sim, and insert it in any other phone (have tried with Nokia e61 and blackberry curve) I can view all the contacts just fine on the sim card. But I'm trying to copy all of them to my Tilt, and for some reason it won't let me see them.
Has anyone had this problem or know of any fix? Thanks in advance!
No idea what the problem is but try this SIM Manager still prefer it over the new versions give it a shot....
I'll give it a try...I BELIEVE I've tried that one already... its the manager where you just have options to copy to contacts, copy to sim, delete from either...you cant actually see the sim phone book in edit form right? I think it didn't work with that previously, but I'll try anything!

How to back up contacts

YES I am sure this question gets asked a lot of times so I am sure by now people have come up with a GREAT answer for it instead of just telling me to use google.
Trust me I have used Google. I find Apps like
Backup Contacts
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.uia.android.backupcontacts&hl=en
which gets bad reviews and doesn't really seem to work.
I find a guide on how to save your contacts to your SIM card but it only seems to work on the Nexus S.
So here is what I want to do:
I use a Galaxy S (i-9000) and I want to save my contacts to my SIM card or a file I can copy on my PC and copy it on other android devices OR save all my PHONE contacts to my google account if that is somehow possible because I want to buy a NEW android phone (that's why I guess Samsung's Kies with the option to back up contacts won't do the trick)
I am looking forward to any help.
Thanks a lot!
I think the simplest way to backup contacts is to go the Contacts, or People on ICS, and press the menu button (bottom left on phone). From there go to import/export contacts, then it asks where you want to import/export them to. It creates a file on your phone storage that you can copy to your PC/new phone.

When I go to Contacts - Import/Export - Export to SIM card : it says "No contacts" and "search contacts" so it seems like I would have to export each contact by HAND. I can't find any way to select all and EXPORT all???
original rom?
using Go Contact will do...

It imports all my e-mail contacts from my Google account as well. How do I do it so that only people with phone numbers get imported?

Anybody got a solution as to how I can prevent importing contacts from my SIM card whereby all my Google e-mail contacts get sucked in there too?

Download my phone explorer for android app and the my phone explorer program for your PC, connect by Wifi, USB or Bluetooth and make a backup of all your contacts, sim contacts, calendar entries etc.
I've been using this tool since 2006 (it was originally developed for Sony Ericsson phones) and it allowed me to switch from my Z710i to my W595 and from there to my Desire, back to the Z710i and then to the SGS+.
It saved me so much hassle and I did not hesitate to donate to its developer. It is a superb tool (yes, I really like. He does not pay me for this post).
