View Full Directories Of Kaiser In Vista ???? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Is There a way to View Full Directories Of Kaiser In Vista ????
if i connect through windows vista and try to browse the device i only see a few folders like the basics; my documents, program files, application data
but when i connect it on Windows XP Active Sync 4.5 it shows me full directries like windows> subfolders
application data>sub folders
and everything located on the device,
ahs anyone the same problem?

same thing for me trying to view the Windows folder on my Tilt using Vista. Tried changing folder options to show hidden folders, and even tried typing the address into the browser, but no luck.
I would be interested to hear a solution.

you need a special browser, such as resco file explorer.
such as the common WINDOWS folder is hidden, go to properties and uncheck "hidden" problem solved. Now your computer can see the hidden folder WINDOWS. (may take a while to load files within windows)

To answer the OP, in Vista in your view of the Kaiser folders, click on Organise, Folder Options, View Tab, select show hidden files and ALSO SELECT show system files and folders... (which is just below it)

Yes, I was going to post this too. By Default Vista assumes you are stupid and hides certain files and folders from you.

Thanks, that worked. I missed the Hide System files check box when I tried it.

Ok i was looking and i did what you say about uncheking the box of HIDE PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES; and it shows them but, why they are in vista PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES and on XP Just hidden Files???
also why takes so long to show them???

WINDOWS FOLDER Not VISIBLE

Anyone know how to make the Windwos folder vivible so I can easily get to the RINGS folder fron Explore in ActiveSync. It's marked as hidden and a system folder in RESCO EXPLORER. When I uncheck the boxes in Properties and go back in to look they have not changed. Does anyone know if there is another registry setting to make this viible?
Ta!

Windows folder is always visible, the last folder under My Device is Windows and it definitely is not hidden, anyway which rom are you using?
Using the standard ROM from Orange and it's definitely NOT visiable from within explorer on my PC...it is from the Trinity but its attibutes are hidden and that's why the PC cannot see it. And as I said if I change the attibs and take the HIDDEN off... it puts it back on again (or doesn't take it off)
You cannot change the attributes of the windows folder.
If you change the explorer settings on the PC so as to display hidden files and folders, then you will be able to see it.
Dohh! Stupid me of course..THANKS!!!
As you've been so helpfull....any ideal how I can get a version of Task Magaer on my Trinity. Orange doesn't supply one. Someone posted a CAB they had extracted on here for me that other day. It loaded OK but did not close down the programs only left them in the background as does the OK button???

Browsing to the windows folder

I'm fairly new here and I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but here goes.
One minor thorn in my side has been the fact that I couldn't explore the windows folder from my PC when i had it active synced (and that i can't explore it at all from my mac but that's a different complaint altogether). It won't show up in the explorer window and typing it into the address bar always brought me to the windows directory on my PC. I couldn't find anything here about it so I decided to do some experimenting on my own and found that it was actually deceptively simple. All that you have to do is create a shortcut to your windows directory and put it somewhere you can get to (my documents seems as good as any) then use that to jump into your windows folder from your PC. voilĂ .
On your PC, in windows explorer you need to go to
TOOLS -> FOLDER OPTIONS -> VIEW
and select "SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS"
then when you browse your phone, it will show you the Windows directory as well as other folders that are hidden on the phone.
even easier. good to know.

Hidden Directories

I am somehwat new and have been reading up allot on this forum and still can't figure it out.
I have a AT&T Tilt unlocked.
I am running the Mobile Device Center on a Vista pc and also tried a XP pc.
I cannot figure out how to find the /Windows directory . I made sure that the pc shows all hidden files.
Do I have to use a different software or am I doing something wrong.
Any help would be appericated. Thanks.
Honestly i wouldn't want pc to see windows directory, it takes forever to load and takes up most of my device's processing.
But if you want the pc to see it, just download resco file explorer, or whatever file explorer you like( I think total commander can do it ), tap and hold the windows folder and go to properties. Uncheck hidden then your pretty much set.
On your Vista PC disable "Hide protected operating system files"
It is in the same place as "Show hidden files and folders"

Windows Directory

Is there any way to view/edit the contents of the Windows directory on my AT&T Tilt from a PC? I want to customize the shortcuts/folders/startup programs and the only way to even see the Windows directory is on the phone itself, which is extremely tedious. The Windows directory does not show up in Windows Explorer, ActiveSync or other 3rd party software I have tried that contain file browsers. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!
I must be misunderstanding what your asking because...
If you are using Activesync, you most certainly can browes files on your phone as you would the files on your desktop. Two ways to get there. Either by:
My Computer \ Mobile Device
Or through the Activesync program and clicking on the Explore icon.
You also may want to make sure you have your view settings to where hidden files can be seen.
I can see all folders/files except for the Windows Directory from my PC. Nothing is set to hidden.

I'm guessing that you're using Vista....you need to go to your folder options in Vista (Organize->Folder and Search Options->View) and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Tried on another machine (both running XP) and it's fine. Settings are the same on both. Could it be something with permissions? Thank for your replies.
With active synch up, click explore
Now click My Window Mobile-Based Device
Windows folder should be there along with your storage card
If it isn't, your device is probably possessed by the devil and you should consider an exorcism
Yep - works that way on one machine but not the other.
Oh, and your mother sucks c**ks in Hell, Karras, you faithless slime...
Found the problem. Had contracted a root kit virus some time ago on my other machine. Was able to clean everyhing, but one of the wonderful features of this virus was to delete the
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden" key.
Sneaky bastards...
I restored it from the good machine and everything is all good now.
Thanks again for everyone's time.
I guess Smuook was right, possessed by the devil.

Connection Help

When I connect my phone to my computer, it doesn't show the phones windows directory? how can I do that?
So it connects to the phone just fine, you can open the phone through active sync explorer and look at the files?
If that is the case you dont have a connection issue but most likely need to open the folder display options and allow display of "hidden files or folders"
That should allow the folder to show up and a few others but I cant remember for sure, I always enable hidden stuff for other reasons.
how can I do this enable hidden files?
On your computer go to Start, then My Computer, at the top on the menu options go into Tools, bottom option Folder Options. Then click the View tab at the top, you should now see a scroll down list with two folders, the second folder from the top should read Hidden files and folders, click the show hidden files option, then check the box for apply to all folders.
Then apply. Now you can do this in just the phone directory, but I cannot remember since its not part of the system if you will have to set this every time you sync the phone or if Windows will remember if you dont set it for the whole computer.
The hidden folders will show up as a slightly transparent folder, you will see a lot of them around your system so be careful not to delete something you are not sure what is.
I cannot see the windows directory eventhough I enabled hidden files and directories... Can someone help me?
