Just thought I would enlighten others on how to accomplish this!
I used three files from my XP system: moricons.dll, pifmgr.dll, and shell32.dll. All these files can be found under c:\windows\system32. Basically, just copy these files to your device's \windows directory. Then, use the icon shortcut file in the Games folder and edit them as you would like.
Here's how I have mine setup:
Applications: 1#shell32.dll,-278
GPS: 1#pifmgr.dll,-35
Internet: 1#shell32.dll,-14
Multimedia: 1#shell32.dll,-41
References: 1#moricons.dll,-108
Utilities: 1#shell32.dll,-274
Edit the icon files as shown and place them in respective folders. That is it! I left the Games and Office folders as they were.
Note: shell32.dll is pretty big (around 8.5MB). In case you already did not know this, enjoy this tip.

And how do you read the icons from the DLL file?
You can't guess that you have to use -14 for an internet icon. Do you read the DLL's on your pc, or can you do that from your PPC?

Isn't this like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut? 8.5 MB just for a few icons. I'm sure a smaller solution is possible.

Haha...of course! I just tried it at work this morning. I will definitely be looking into smaller dll files for this once I get off work.
Looks good, but no need for me
Just a quick thanks to sherpa, wizzzard, and vijay555 for the info on how to change icons...works great on AT&T Tilt, and in QuickMenu 2.7!

Does anyone have a CAB to make WM5 have the glossy bars (top and bottom) like WM6?
Thanx.
not that i know off only way is to install wisbar or someother whole gui change program
So, the only "OS" way around it would be to move to a WM6 flavor?
Thanx.
Here it is, but it was super easy to find in a search.
Well, yes, I located that with the "super easy search" as well. However, it is not working on WM5.
Thanx.
Oh Okay. Did you put the uzipped .exe file in your Windows/startup folder, then soft reset?
What happens when you do that?
Yes.
I copied the "Glossy Black Bars.exe" to my "\Windows\Startup" folder.
Unfortunately, as you'll see by the screen shot below, I only have dark grey bars and without the "3-D" look of WM6.
Thanx.

The glossy look is a feature built in on WM6, it has nothing to do with .tsk theme files.
You can get here a program that emulates it, but it only works right if you have cleartype disabled...
http://mobile-comm.blogspot.com/2007/11/change-wm5-bar-to-wm6-glossy-bar.html
Cool...I'll try it and let ya know.
Thanx.
Well, we're definitely 50% closer with this one. It is only working on the top bar though.
Thanx.
Here is a file if just want to remove your contacts bar. Just put the .exe file in your Windows/startup folder.

Hi All,
Been kinda scarce around here lately, since I was checking in today to see what's happening i thought I would share some stuff I put together. The tsk is based off a wallpaper I found at deviant art I think it was from Ken Saunders from mouserunner, The images in the icons i just picked up off the web and tweaked them to suit my needs.
I know everybody is going to manilla 2d but personally I'm going to wait till all the bugs are worked out by the genius's around here before i switch.
Enjoy

What's the name of the program that's at the very bottom of your phone. I like it. It looks like a continuation of the HTC home plugin.
Do you know if you can customize those shortcuts or anything of the sort?
its battery status (now home screen plus plus ), and yes you can pretty much do anything with it if you can set up an xml file.
can these be loaded with HHC (HTC Home Customizer)?
sure, just drop the file in the correct folders in program files, htc home customizer, and then choose whatever you would like.
OK, thanks.
btw i get an app execution error about a missing file from HHV V1.0Final so I will have to revert to 0.8 i guess
hmmm, I have v1.0 and it seems to work just fine on my device, I actually copied the files right off my phone , zipped em up and posted , let me know if there is anymore trouble.
great stuff, thanks
could you remind me of the name of the lower icon bar today plugin ?
thanks,
battery status/ homee screen plus plus, your welcome im glad you like it

use htc home customizer, I tried to upload it but somethings not working, you'll find it if you do a search.Install it then find the files folder in the program and drop the icons in the icon folder, you can then open up hhc and choose the icons. Hope that helps

Inspired by TheDaniel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=518634), I made this cpr for QVGA devices, which uses Segoe UI as a font and uses much smaller font, which in my opinion looks nicer..
The Expanded View of the plugins is still the same, don't know if i'm gonna edit these ones too, maybe tomorrow...
Plugins:
Analog Clock
Notifications
System Panel
Volume Control
Fave People
Quick Launcher
Settings
Tasks
Comm Manager
COffice
+ Standard plugins
So here you go...
UPDATE 29 MAY
Added COffice to the plugin list.
File is found in the attached ZIP.
Install:
1. Backup the file: \windows\Titanium_240x320.cpr to your perferred location. You MUST do this to be able to uninstall.
2. Install and enable the plugins you wish
3. Copy and paste my file to your windowsfolder and confirm overwrite.
4. Restart your titanium or reset your device.
This only supports default theme...
Looks Great! I will test it out now.
Here's my wallpaper btw...

Nice set-up by you and daniel. The only thing that's missing is larger font and weather adjustment. Clouds off the screen and not aligned will there be a fix for this? Thanks Good work.

Great stuff man! Tell me if you need any help.
Looks great, but how to restore default?
Put your original CPR back in your windows folder. If you don't have it, take the one in the attachement...

Thanks for quick reply,i'll try it now
I have Manilla2D on a Shifu 4.2 ROM.
Even using M2DC, I'm not able to:
- Remove "Touch here to update Weather" text just under digital clock in home tab (consider that this text reduces useful heigth for calendar)

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- Remove app name under each Icon in Launcher tab (with the name displayed, the 3x3 icon area goes under the slider, so the bottom 3 icons are partially visible.
So, does it exist a XML file, or a Registry area, to work on to deeply configure Manilla?
Furthermore (less important), I'm not able to apply any skin...
Thanks
Thunder
Hi there
Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4220621&postcount=2 for compatable themes - the old .m2dc files wont work correctly.
The layout xml can be found in the windows folder and edited HTCHomeSettings.xml (images would have to be resized though) here is helpful thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427531
The program names under the launcher tab is annoying - you have to manually edit them under HKLM\software\HTC\manila2D\Launcher\1\Dispname/ Using Total Commander I have to replace the text with a space - just deleting it and leaving a null field doesn't work.... (you need to soft reset after)
You have to do this in folder 1,2,3..... for all the programs - I'm sure someone will knock you up a simple cab if you ask nicely - I really should learn how to do it............
Hope that helps.
Good luck!

Great.
Everything works properly...
I already tried to delete dispname in launcher registry settings, but, as you told, it didn't work. Now I put a space, and it's fine.
I'm also trying to find HTCHomeSettings.xml file, I haven't found it yet, but I trust in me...
Thanks again

What am I mucking up?
Followed Mr.iiwoodstocks guild on Reddit for the TX1254 and I don't know what im failing on....
The IMG is in the fast boot directory I've tried to rename it. Check out the screen shots I took anyone have some insight I've Google's the errors can't find a lot...
Sent from my VK410 using XDA-Developers mobile app
At the command prompt, type dir and press enter. What does the command prompt say the name of the image is?
I'll check when I get home! Haven't had a chance to take another crack at it.

A lot of users were having an issue with the "feature" of windows that hides file extensions of known file types. So when you thought your twrp image was named "twrp," it was actually named twrp.img. When you thought it was named "twrp.img," it was actually named twrp.img.img. That's why fastboot doesn't see it. Typing dir at the command prompt will show you the true name. Flash it using the true name, and you'll be golden. I also recommend turning off "hide extensions of known file types" in your folder settings to avoid problems like this in the future.
Yea I have it set up like that on my PC thats locked down But I just reformatted the laptop with 7. Trying it in an hour.
Awesome close this up using dir to figure the true name worked!

"Hide extension of known file types" is the most stupid thing Microsoft ever implemented as a default setting.
It's the reason teenage boys (and some men) clicking on "NakedCelebeiry.jpg" don't realize they are REALLY clicking on "NakedCelebeiry.jpg".EXE. Because Microsoft has hidden the file extension and the malware writers put jpg in the TITLE name to fool you. (And malware writers can also change the icon type.)
But if you can see the extension, it can't fool you. It literally is almost the first thing I do on almost any PC I use, even a friend's PC. I change that setting to see known file extensions.
