I have tried to setup ICS via wifi such that I can connect with my Ipod Touch and browse using Safari. I have managed to set up the ad-hoc network such that my Ipod connects to the HTC TYTN II but when I launce 'Safari' on the Ipod I get a 'Server Not Found' error. Has anybody managed to do this yet, any instructions?
Cheers Guys
Not with an IPOD touch, but someone posted recently about the registery tweaks you need to make to share ICS over wifi instead of BT.

Yea, seen that thanks, as I say I can connect via wifi to my phone from my Ipod but Ipod won't surf (shouldn't be a problem because I can use the Ipod to surf at home via my wifi router).
Somebody has done this in another forum but using a different HTC phone...
maybe this http://www.pyrofersprojects.com/3gipod/3gipod.html will help you
ICS doesn't share over wifi unless you make changes to the registry and set IP addresses for both the Kaiser and the client device (Ipod).
Are you running ICS on the device? Simply making an adhoc wifi connection between them doesn't share the web.

Tried this also but I get "server can't be found" on the ipod when I run Safari.
I would love to get this working so any help is gratefully recieved
Did you try the IP address change and reg tweaking to share ics over wifi instead of bt (and then turn on ICS and connect it) before connecting with your device?

Yea, I tried all that and got a wifi connection between the HTC and the Ipod but I launch Safari I get a 'can't find server' dialogue. I know this can be done but am getting a little frustrated now.

Hi all,
I am trying to get my trusty Dell Axim connected to teh Intarwebz via my Kaiser (AT&T Tilt). I have tried the WiFiRouter program and while it works, it is too cumbersome still to fire it up in a hurry every morning to check traffic. Ideally I'd like to use BT Dial-Up Networking, which I see offered from the Tilt, but no matter how I configure the Axim, the DUN connection is never successful...
Any ideas on how to do this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and merry Xmas!
Get the new version of WifiRouter, works great!
To get DUN working, You have to install the DUN crack, found here
info about DUN crack here -

Many thanks for the quick reply! I now have the Axim able to pair and discover the DUN service on the Tilt. Do you happen to know how to configure the connection? The number to dial and other details?
BTW, I have already tried and finally got the WiFiRouter prog to work, but it is too cumbersome still for quick connections...
Thanks!
Use ICS ( internet connection sharing) on your kaiser , select bluetooth, and from your axim connect via dun, after that your computer should automatically make internet connection and give you an ip.
i ve managed to make an adhoc network over wifi ,and my laptop and kaiser could see each other. i couldnt find an option on how to share the gprs connection from the kaiser to the laptop though.
also, can i sync over wifi as well?
bluetooth and infrared are not available on my laptop.
i can share net fine over usb, i am doing this atm, but because i had to drive back to pick my cable, i will like to know how to do that over wifi.
thanks in advance.
Internet Connection Sharing app in your programs folder is the way to share it.
But you need to tweak it or download wmwifirouter to use WIFI.
Similarly you need to do some tweaking to sync over wifi.

You got it unwired4.
I am looking into putting a generic internet connection on the Internet sharing selection pulldown. The new Sharing facility uses the new WM6 calls but I am sure you can hook this proto to the base TCPIP connection you have running at the time.
Will keep you informed.

Can you please tell me what is the tweak to sync over wifi?
Hi,
I have Windows Vista and use Windows Mobile Device Center to connect to my TyTN II using USB. Can I use my PC's internet via USB on my PPC?
I was also thinking of turning my PC into WiFi access point so that my Kaiser could connect to it using Wifi
Any ideas
Thanks
As long as you are connected through activesync (sorry WMDC) you can use your PC's internet on your phone. As for your second question you should just get a wireless router if you want wi fi for your kaiser.
Thanks for the quick response.

But that never seems to work ... it used to work with activesync on Windows XP on my home PC but not on my laptop with Windows Vista.

Hmmmm... I have been using Wifi on Kaiser without a problem. I was just thinking if I could use my Laptop as access point so that my Kaiser could connect to it over wireless connection... Or any other idea for internet connection sharing (of PC for PPC).
Yasir
anyone? ...
You want to keep your laptop on to use it as a Wifi AP for your kaiser?? Might as well use your laptop already and not ruin your eyes.
Haha... yeah right... actually I was a bit unclear in my statment.. let me try to put it a little differently..
laptop uses internet via LAN cable... I want to share that internet with Kaiser over Wireless ... is it possible... (now that's more of a PC related question that Kaiser, so I have a Kaiser related question too)..
I can't use internet via WMDC on Vista ... what could be the possible reason?

Yes, but for that you need to have your laptop powered on... his point was that if your laptop is on you might as well use the net on it rather than on the obviously much less comfortable phone.
I never tried it, but could be possible by making a ad-hoc wireless network on your laptop, and making your laptop a gateway.
There are settings hidden away that need ticking for sharing the internet connection of the PC, although I thought they defaulted to "on". I'm not sure, I haven't touched a vista machine in months!
Ad-hoc wifi would be the way to go, but good luck getting it working; it's a royal pain in the arse half the time, and for the rest it works like magic. Depends on the devices.
If you're browsing on your phone I hope you've got a copy of Opera Mini; using wifi my phone can nearly outpace my PC at browsing the net.

Open wmdc
choose mobile device settings >> Connection settings
Set: " this computer is connected to" to either "automatic" or "the internet"
That should do it.
Hi...
It's already set to "automatic" and changing to "internet" didn't work either..
thanks for the suggestion on wifi adhoc..i'll try to find more about it...
Hi,
I was wondering if it is posible to share the Pcs internet with the Kaiser with a Bluetooth set up?
i have adsl on my pc. i want to use my bluetooth connection to share the net access that my pc has with my g1. any ideas how i can do that? thanks in advance.
you can do 1 of two things, format your computer and reinstall your OS which will get rid of the ads OR buy a wifi router and use that for your G1, but to answer your question NO there isnt a way to share your internet through BT
If you have windows vista, you can go to network sharing center and share the network via your wireless card(if your pc has a wireless card). But no, there's no way to share via BT, that I know of.
thanks for the responses.
i've searched this forum and found out that someone's been asking the same question but for windows mobile. http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-319068.html. i wonder if it could be done in android. but cmiiw.

You can make wifi hotspot (if you have wifi) from your pc by Connectify.
oh, i have to make a wifi access point in my laptop then coonect via phone the internet shares..?
or u talking about a option in the phone which named wifi hotspot .??
I forget the steps in Windows XP, but for Windows 7 go to the
-Network and Sharing Center
-Set up a new connection or network
-Set up a wireless adhoc (computer to computer) network
and follow the steps to setting up the connection. Then, at the last step, enable internet sharing. It'll let other computers, or, well, anything that can access a wireless network connect to your PC. Secure it with a password if you want to be safe.
Notes: Some devices will not be able to connect. There may be a software bug or they've not been designed to work with adhoc networks. I'm not sure if the laptop can connect to an alternative wireless network while it's hosting an adhoc network. If you want to share internet, you may need to be plugged directly in with an Ethernet cable.
Yeah my internet connection is from my lan..
but my phone don't detect my network which created from laptop, what's the problem..?
How is this is Nexus one Q&A? This is not even android related lol

You're probably creating it using the way described above, ad-hoc network setup. Android by default doesn't recognize ad-hoc networks. Some custom ROMs solve this issue, but stock setup won't allow you to see the ad-hoc network. Use Connectify.
Thank u very much but unfortunately this only works in 7, i have vista now....
I want share my pc internet with my Nexus one, isn't here best place for asking such a question ??

Sorry, I've been using CyanMod for too long I can never remember if it's supported by default or not.
To the OP, sorry if I've caused any inconveniences.
i'm using connectify now, but still my phone can't find the network, waht should i do??????
Did you set your network to Infrastructure? Also make the SSID visible, do not hide it.
i'm using v2 & i can't see such setting that u said, where can i find them to change..?
IF you have a windows 7 PC, i advise you to use conectify or virtual rooter. You can also follow the instructions in the following link - http://www.technospot.net/blogs/how-to-enable-windows-7-virtual-wifi/ - it will enable in your windows 7 pc a virtual ap). Hope it helps you
