Is it possible to have Segoe replacing Tahoma as the default system font on my TyTN II? Check out an early WM6 review: http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/articles/wm-crossbow-en.shtml
(Does anybody know why Segoe isn't the default system font on Windows Mobile 6 Professional? It's sexier than Tahoma - and the very first screenshots of WM6 suggested new font face, so what happened? )
it's pretty easy...
1. make backup copies of the tahoma.ttf and tahomabd.ttf font files located in the \Windows folder on your device. I copy them to your microSD card.
2. on your laptop, create copies of the segoe.ttf and segoeb.ttf files on your desktop.
3. rename the segoe font files to tahoma.ttf and tahomabd.ttf. copy the renamed files to a folder on your device, e.g., My Documents.
4. use Resco Explorer to copy the tahoma.ttf and tahomabd.ttf font files from the My Documents folder to the \Windows folder on your device. you'll get a message warning you that you're copying files that are in ROM. i simply click ok and proceed with the copy process. everytime I use the default explorer, it will not copy over files in ROM.
5. soft reset your phone and now all of your fonts are Segoe. i've done this with every device i've owned, except i've used the MS Reference Sans Serif font.
Hmm... think this would work for displaying asian characters too?
Thanks cortezzi, it worked like a charm.
However, I still havent found the font face used here: http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/articles/wm-crossbow-en.shtml
What kind of font face was being used in the early versions of WM6?
Thanks!
how do we set the permission to allow us to overwrite the files on the at&t rom? Also, I think nina is the other font we are talking about here. It was designed for the small screen and is in my vista fonts directory.

I cannot seem to find Nina on my Windows Vista machine (running Vista Business). I would very much appreciate it if you could zip and upload the font face! Thanks!
Is this the one you are looking for ?
That also might be verdana. I know it's in XP's fonts and I use it as the Commanager font on both my kaiser and my wizard.

I happen to have 'em. Uhh.. yeah, I have a good chance of owning every typeface you want out there.
But I don't think it's Nina on what you see on the screenshot. I'll look into it further once I'm not drop dead sleepy.
And sorry for the obscure name, the archive contains both nina.ttf and nina bold.ttf.

Very Thank you, if you find which font is used in that screening please post it.
B.T.W. I did read I don't remember where, that Nina font was designed just for Mobile devices, I gues that it is stated at Nina maker.

Do you just want to apply that as your background or create an entirely new theme?
Try this.
If it can't support jpg (sorry, didn't use it myself yet) you can always use Paint Brush or any other program to convert it to BMP or other supported format.
or irfanview the best free picture viewer / converter out there
I want to apply it as my background Taurus.. but it wont show up unless it's .tsk ..
I have tried paintbrush .. but it doesnt have an option to save as .TSK

Hey Madcap,
I'm actually able to apply it as a background as-is. What happens when you try?
ok, I figured it out, it let me..
BTW.. Taurus, would you happen to have the green VISTA.TSK .. ??
Sure thing. Here are the HTC and WM6 Green themes for ya.
Enjoy!
tsk are not a picture format it's a theme it include text color and buttom and top bar colours
and support 1 background picture and 1 startbar picture
there are tsk makers for wm not sure if they are anygood though or if they are free i'm sure others or google knows
when i enter my today settings i get a list of tsk files
plus if i check the checkbox called
"use this picture as the background"
the browse button stops being disabled and i can brows for just pictures as in jpg and the likes

If you got WinCE cab Manger there is Another way to make *.Tsk files.
You simply copy a existing *.Tsk file( one that you like on taskbar, start menu etc)
Open the tsk file (with the Cab Manager), the first 2 images are for the today screen.(portrait and landscape)
Replace those 2 images with images that you before adjusted according you screen format (VGA or QVGA + LAnds. & Port.) and you need rename the new image files sames as the existing one (practically you overwriting the existing images files)
Cheers

Check this thread regarding creating WM5 themes.
Has anyone else noticed that installing the HTC Calculator Skin stops the calculator being used in horizontal mode?
When I load the calculator, then sliding the keyboard open (to switch to horizontal), I get the following error:
Code:
Error. Cannot load the skin file:
\Windows\SpbCalc_L.gif
Same error occurs if I switch to horizontal screen mode first, then try to open the calculator app.
I assume this is caused by having certain horizontal resources missing from the skin. It's interesting though that the file is name 'Spb...'. I've never installed any Spb apps Could just be a coincidence though...
Yep...same thing happens to me...
Nikos.
I might try adding some resources manually to the Windows directory (i.e. make up a dummy SpbCalc_L.gif) and see what these images actually are. They're probably just a copy of the existing resources but with a different aspect ratio.
If I can successfully mock up all the resources required, I'll attach them here.
EDIT
----
Should have tried the search a bit harder I think our problems are already solved in this post.
Still seem to have some problems here:
1. Can't install the cab file from the above post because the original cab can't be un-installed.
2. Can't use the .png files that people have been creating at the above thread because the app is looking for a .gif
3. Can't seem to get the calculator to work correctly if I convert the png to a gif myself. The screen looks fine, and everything works... except the 7, 8 and 9 buttons

I think this is probably just a palette problem in my gif. I suspect the colours need to be exact for the button region map to work correctly.
I'll give this another try tonight with a correctly created GIF. Hopefully that'll fix this.
To anyone getting this problem, try dropping the attached file into your Windows directory.
EDIT
-----
Doh! Forum has scaled/converted this when I uploaded it. Ignore this image.
Ignore the above image, the forum seems to have converted the GIF to a different size/format. Try unzipping the attached instead.
This is a known issue. The touch is a Portrait device & originally the Calc skin didn't include the landscape file. Look for the new post with Touch calculator skin P+L.
Calculator Skin in Landscape (Horizontal) Mode
Hey, you may be having the problem you're having because the SpbCalc_L file, which the calculator uses to display in landscape (horizontal) mode, is in the wrong format. It may be that it's a .gif image. You need to convert the image to .png format. Then, once in that format, the calculator will recognize the file and you won't have the problem that you're having. I'm not sure what phone model you have, but I have the 8525 (HTC/AT&T) model. This is what I did, and it resolved the problem for me. There is a free program that you could download from www.cnet.com. It is called FastStone Image Viewer. This program will convert the file for you.
Perhaps you could help me out, too. In the process of installing a bunch of new skins for the calculator, I accidentally erased the original/standard files. I no longer have the original SpbCalc_L and SpbCalc_P files, which allow the calculator to be viewed in its orignal, factory-setting format. Do you mind e-mailing them to me? I'd appreciate it. I'd like to roll back to the original version.
Thanks, and I hope we could help each other out. Take care.

Just a short feedback for others users of a Palm Treo 750. After installing the HTC calc. skin on this device, I got the error msg that file SpbCalc_S.gif is missing in the windows dir.
I downloaded the zipped SpbCalc_L.gif from this thread and renamed it from ...L into ...S. After that the application runs but the right column with the operators is missing. Can anybody be so kind to send me the original SpbCalc_S.gif - file?

does anybody have 2 good sounding sounds (lol) that i could use for when i open and close my tilt?
3 keys on a piano up...and 3 keys down would be nice.
Here you go...
Install CAB and then just rename any two files EXACTLY as follows and drop them in the device/windows directory:
custom-in (Sound when you close keyboard)
custom-out (sound when you open keyboard)
There are two sets in the rar archive, viz. LS is Light Sabre as in Star Wars-This is the one I use. ST is Siege Tank as in Starcraft game. Both are cool.
Basically you can use any two wav files and rename them as mentioned.
ENJOY!!!

here is a bunch i have collected sorry no cabs though there are sonic, mario, halo, startrekand scarface again i did not make these i just found them
where r they?
I'm on a AT&T Tilt and I don't see the windows directory when I browse my smartphone. Am I doing somethin wrong or do I need a special program to be loaded to reach windows????
if you're browsing via ActiveSync from your desktop computer, maybe you'll have to edit the folder-view to show system files (extras - folder options - view)
WICKED!!! This rocks!!!

the sounds go in the windows directory then you need to opena reg editor and go hklm/software/htc/slidingsounds and edit the registry to either add to the existing sounds or editing the exisisting ones. to add more sounds you simply need to copy and paste one of the other folder and change the names and numbers to match your new sound for example to add a fourth sound you would need to pick the sound you want and make i 3_in.wav and 3_out.wav
you wil also need to go into the folder and edit the default to change the name. or if we are really luck someone will cab this up for us.for better instructions go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356400

AFAIK this only works for the Kaiser.
Yesterday I installed MarsWare Technologies WeatherPanel. While the program itself is working extremely well, the font on my Comm Manager page is extremely large and unusual.
Is there a way to change this font, both type and size?
Has anyone else had a similar problem after installing WeatherPanel?
Thank you,
Peter
Image to help explain my problem ...
Here's an image of my Comm Manager to show you the unusual font ...
Check and see if you have the font 'MS Reference San Serif' in your Windows\fonts folder. If not, copy\paste it from the Windows\fonts folder on your desktop. Reboot and see if that works.
There are two fonts that are installed in the Program Files\Marsware|WeatherPanel\Themes\Default folder. They are called BRADHITC.TTF and Pixel.ttf. Deactivate WP on the today screen (to unrestrict the files) and then delete them. WP will work no problem without them.
Thank you ...
Thank you for your quick reply. That font was not in my fonts folder, so I did what you said, I copied the file from my desktop, and now everything appears as it should.
No problem
My thank you was premature, but ...
Okay, my thank you to GWelker62 was premature. It worked when I first copied the file from my desktop to my mobile fonts folder, but when I did a soft reset, it went back to the unusual font.
However, smuook's suggestion works perfectly. Even after a soft reset, the font is back to normal.
Thank you.
For what its worth...
This also fixed the blocky font problem with Googlemaps and Opera.
First, I got the idea and some of the icons from skilty in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425176. Thanks to skilty.
Although I started with skilty's theme, I have pretty much redone all the icons. Not everything was covered in the Rhodium Manila so I needed to add several things. I scoured the internet for some of the other icons and assembled them here.
The first picture is the loading GIF after a reset. The second picture is the background. The third is some screen shots of the TF3D manila. The last picture is the phone dialer.
For the contacts, I have used the Matrix cell phone for the mobile device, the old fashioned phone (hard line) as the home phone, and a phone booth as the work phone.
There are icons for Manila Today Page and for the new Manila TV tab.
Before you do any overwriting of files, I would suggest copying all your manila files to a folder on your desktop in case you want to go back to the way things were before.
I've attached all the manila files in the New Matrix Manila zipped file. The dialer screen, background picture, and other files are in the other zipped file. You just need to copy the manila files onto your device and then use a program like total commander to copy them to your \windows\ directory. I haven't had much luck removing TF3D from today and then re-enabling it. I pretty much had to do a reset after copying the files.
I'm having trouble right now uploading the loading screen gif. I'll see if I can still upload it.
I hope some of you enjoy it! And I don't take any responsibility if anything happens to your phone. There shouldn't be a problem since it is only graphic files that are changing.
I almost forgot to include the Action Screen I created.
You first need to have this installed (I know it was already installed in the Eneregy Rom series 2 I am using). http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=58625
Then you need to copy the contents of the attachment into the \windows\actionscreen\ directory. I have changed one of the buttons to a 3G toggle instead of bluetooth since I never used that one.
Also there is a skin for psShutXP. Its only the image files, so I'm assuming you already have it installed on your PPC device.
Attached is a new action screen by Oz from here.
And finally I have attached a skin for xdashutdown developed here.
Enjoy.
Here is a skin for the power radio app, Resco Explorer, and s2u2. I've also uploaded the matrix background that you'll need for s2u2 background.
Do not understand why this theme was buried. It is soo nice. indeed.

First, do you have Sense 2.1 or the newer 2.5 installed. You should find the info under you device info in settings.
Also, I think I'm going to resurrect this theme so I can use the new CHTScheduler for the CHT Home Tab. So I'll be updating this for sense 2.5 in the coming weeks. You may want to hold on for that.
If you still want what's posted here, I'll throw together some cab files for you. Most of the stuff is manual install, meaning you have to copy all the files to your devices windows directory. Does any of that help?
Hi!
Thank you very, very much! I already took some parts of it (the background pictures) and i put it on my phone. It looks ...WOW...but i still want to install the whole theme.. Yes, i have the latestes Enegy Rom installed, with Sense 2.5...So i will look forward for your new theme (and, if is not to disturbing, the guide step by step how to install it - i undestood that i have to copy all the files to \Windows, but..this is it?? ).
