Got my Trinity in the mail today and started the process of pimping it up to xda-developers' standards.
1. Ran SSPL-TRIN.exe without problems from "HTC Trinity SIM & CID Unlock - v1")
2. Ran ROMUpdateUtility.exe. Dialog on PC said upgrade was successful, but screen was black on device
3. Soft reset device. Windows Mobile (green screen) shows, but never goes away. Repeated this procedure 3 times (waited over 5 min each time)
4. Hard reset device. HTC logo shows with numbers "M 05, B 05, D 1.16" showing for 5 seconds. The text "No GSM" appears for 1 second and disappears with the numbers. Only the HTC logo on white is on the screen, forever.
Any ideas? Would hate to have bricked my phone after only a couple of hours.
I can get into the three color screen. I attempted to run ROMUpdateUtility, as I wrote before, again, but I get an error message on the PC saying that the ROM is corrupted, after which my device resets. (To HTC screen, forever, like I wrote above)
Sounds like a bricked device already.
There is a lot of information on this problem in the Hermes Wiki and forum. You may find some useful information there to help unbrick.
Sorry mate.
S.K.
Is there a way I can obtain a rom that will be accepted by my bootloader? I checked on the FTP, but there's nothing there (anymore?)
If so, perhaps I could flash over to a standard one, then start over.

Check the Wiki, you will find links to some standard ROMs.

Chek here:

Will try them all now. Results with all roms thus far have been:
Progress bar on both PC and phone moves to 1%, then:
a) Phone reboots & PC displays error "invalid vender ID" or b) Phone reboots & PC displays error about image being corrupt
Good news!
I went to a HTC service center where I live (Oslo, Norway). They said they could fix it in 15 min. (flash the device with an original ROM using more advanced equipment than a USB cable)
After about 10 min. the guy comes back with the phone, which now has the exact same screen I was stuck on and concludes that the motherboard is broken. I told them how I had only owned the phone for a day and they offered to replace the motherboard for free (took a few hours).
Once I got back home with the repaired phone, I was pretty nervous about flashing it again, but everything went perfectly.
Congrats friend... let me tell you that you got balls to re-flash your new device after the repair .

Can you tell us exactly what ROM you used to update and is your Trinity HTC made ?
Always flash from the SD card!

Actually, I'd suggest adding to the Wiki that any flash should always be done directly from the SD card (as per instructions in the wiki) to avoid PC/USB problems. After bricking my Hermes because of a USB comm problem, I always flash from the card directly. Much faster and safer.

I was attempting to flash my ROM to wm6 crossbow, I used Lokiwiz 02b to CID unlock my G3 wizard. Then, I attemped to flash the rom using the RUU. The Shelltool .exe never finished flashing the rom (even after 1.5 hours), so I disconnected the USB and tried to re-sync Windows Mobile Device Center (using Vista 32) as per the directions, but it would not detect the phone. I then entered bootloader mode and tried to run the RUU that way, but vista crashed the program if no sync connection is found. So, I downloaded the latest t-mobile ROM, and flashed the phone through bootloader (curiously the flash seemed to work using t-mo's RUU) and it installed to 100%. However, the phone will not get past the white splash screen. This is what it displays:
IPL 2.26
SPL 2.26
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.26.10.2
I tried to un-rar the tmobile exe to a new folder and replaced the nk.nbf file with the file from the crossbow ROM. The t-mo RUU wouldnt read it properly and it crashed. Now the phone is sitting on my counter with it's battery pulled out for fear it mat discharge completely. Since i can get into bootloader mode with the "USB" display at the bottom, I know the device isn't bricked, but what can I do to get it up and running and hopefully flashed to wm6 crossbow? Thanks for any help!

Well Friend I hate to say it but Using Vista is your problem... The drivers in WMDC are different from those of activesync and thus Vista cannot talk to your phone in bootloader.
Follow this thread here:
Updated!!(10/20/2007) UPGRADE YOUR PHONE WITH WINDOWS VISTA!!! PROVEN METHOD!
Once you complete the steps in that thread, flash the Official T-Mobile Rom. I will be online for the rest of the night so I will walk you through everything if you would like me to. My AIM, Yahoo, and MSN messenger addresses are all at the top of every one of my posts.
First off, let me thank you for your help, as well as the time you have put in the community helping people like me. I had updated the driver before, but I guess several attempted flashed had overwritten the driver. Just now, I followed the link you gave me, updated the drivers, and flashed the T-mobile 2.26 ROM. The problem still remains. The RUU goes to 100%, shows me the finish/exit screen, mu wizard restarts, but hangs at the white boot screen and does not go any further.
Anyone? Need to get this phone up quick, as I am starting a new job soon and need the capabilities. BTW, i'm going to put XP on this laptop in dual-boot and see if I can get the t-mobile ROM to load fully using XP.

If you can manage that, you will be set. All you have to do is create a hard drive partition and install xp to that partition.(from what I know anyway)
OK, i'm gonna try that (my internet is dropping every 5-10 secs, so it'll take a little time) I do have one question though- Last time I used Loki's unlocker, I unlocked the SIM, then the CID unlocker. After the CID unlocker, it locked me out of the phone. The OS wouldnt load unless I provided an unlock code. Then i reflashed it, then the problems started. I think i didn't have it CID unlocked properly. Plus having my miniSD in the slot probably didnt help things either. I've read the directions several times, and I dont see what i'm doing wrong. Could you maybe shed some light on what i'm doing wrong? Thanks!
EDIT: Also, I forgot to mention that I tried to do a hard-reset (hold wireless manager + voive command buttons + soft reset) and when you press the send button, it tells me unable to format FAT volume or something like that. Upon reading around, it seems like i'm having the exact same problem as this poster: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338315

Although, many have successfully flashed using vista, but I'll suggest in your condition flash through WinXP. Download the official carrier's Rom from it's website.
1. Disconnect your phone from the usb cable, shut down any firewall, disable any Anti virus,Reboot your PC.
2. On your Desktop PC, open Microsoft ActiveSync, then go to File >Connection Settings >Remove the Selection from “Allow USB Connection with this desktop computer”
3. On your PC Open windows Task Manager...>Tab Processes...>wescomm.exe...>End process
4. Power off the phone completely (Not stand-by,shut off completely),or you may take the battery out for few seconds
5. Make sure your phone is not Connected to the PC via USB cable and remove the dummy Sdcard or mini-Sd card
6. Get your phone into Bootloader mode (Multicolor screen) by pressing camera button + Power on button
7. Reconnect your phone to the Desktop PC using the USB Cradle and the Charger MUST be Connected to the Cradle (Be sure that your battery is charged over 70%)
8. "USB"will appear on the bottom of the screen of the Bootloader (Multicolor screen)
9. Run the Upgrade again and it will work fine without any problems.
10.Never use Bluetooth sync for the Upgrade
While upgrading, the ActiveSync program will not go on, however the upgrade is running. Please be patient when you're flashing your device, even if 98%. It can wait a little bit, 5 ~ 7 minutes.
Don't cancell the flash or get the phone off the usb cable till it confirms "Congratulations" or stops with an Error!!!
Hope it'll recover back to it's default status, good luck
I'm going to assume I don't have to CID unlock it until I want to switch from the T-mobile 2.26 ROM? I am about to install XP dual-boot shortly. I'll post my results when it's done. Thank you.

As long as you are going to keep T-Mobile 2.26 on your device or are restoring T-Mobile 2.26, you do not have to CID unlock but should you decide to change to another Rom, you will need to CID unlock.
Good luck on the dual boot. There is a detailed tutorial in my Signature if you would like to take a look at it. After I can restore my crashed laptop, I am going to take care of the dual boot also.(I have to do it again... )
I really want to put WM6 on my wizard, and customize it the way I want it. Do you have any favorite WM6 ROM? All day yesterday I spent trying to add a WinXP partition to my Vista laptop. Not fun. First, I shrank the only partition on the drive (where Vista is installed) using Disk management, the Diskpart.exe to create a new 2.5Gb partition to install XP on. I rebooted the labtop with a XP disk, and installed XP on the partition. After the laptop restarted the first time, it did not come back up (black screen, no CD activity), So I changed the boot options in BIOS to HDD, and the Vista partition responded with "Error loading operating system" on a black screen. So now, i've got a laptop with a corrupted Vista install, A partition with partially installed XP on it, a XP disk that just quits working, and my wizard is shot. Normally something I can deal with if I had my desktop, but unfortunately my entire house is packed up in storage, i'm living in a hotel, and the laptop and phone are all i've got. SO, against my better judgement, I went to the store and bought a Vista home basic upgrade DVD to fix my vista partition, and now i'm back on the net- and going to try anothe XP disk. Whew- what a pain in the ass.

It's better if you use 'PartitionMagic' software to create partition and install WinXp,as it has much advanced features as compared to built-in Disk Management. It also has the option to create a partition in the same one partition to install new OS.
I tried that first, too bad it doesnt work in Vista.
Woo Hoo!!! Success!!
Alright! I got it fixed! What I did:
1- Spent $42 on a CID unlocker from: http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3000unlock.php
After i recieved the files from the via email (about 10 minutes) I ran their unlocker program with the file they emailed me. This CID unlocked the wizard.
2- I flashed button's ROM: http://rapidshare.com/files/18212239/CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe.html
I had to flash it twice until it showed a IPL/SPL of 1.01
3- Followed this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276963&highlight=splash+screen+freezing
(make sure you use a blank SD card, as it will require you to format the card to make it useable again after your'e done)
4- Remove battery, and restart phone, BOOM! Button's ROM works fine!
5- Now upgrade to any ROM you like (WM6 etc.)

Congrats ! that's the easy way.....
Yeah, I got tired of screwing with it, and I did it all in Vista!
With this method I have successfully unbranded, unlocked, and updated 2 Treo 750s that were originally AT&T/Cingular branded.
I spent hours running through multiple threads reading and searching to finally find a solution that worked flawlessly. These steps have been compiled from multiple threads:

Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar from http://omnifusionhosting.net/treo750/
(I couldn't find the original posts for Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar so I uploaded to my own site for now)
1. Download, extract, and run MAGIC_UNLOCKER on your phone.
2. Select both options in MAGIC_UNLOCKER and click unlock. This will unlock your phone.
3. Format your SD card to FAT32.
4. Extract Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar and copy/paste CHEEIMG.nbh to the formatted SD card.
5. Transfer 1_CHEE_MountExtROM.cab and 2_Chee_Extrom_rename.cab to your Treo 750.
5. Run/Install 1_CHEE_MountExtROM.cab and then soft reset the phone.
7. Run/Install 2_Chee_Extrom_rename.cab and then soft reset the phone.
8. Click and run Start>Programs>Chee_Extrom_Unlocker. Run it about 3 or 4 time and you should some type of error messages. Just OK or X them and soft reset the phone again.
9. Open File Explorer and click the drop down arrow, in which you will now see ExtendROM. Open it and delete the 2 files in the partition folder.
10. Download, extract, and run CheetahUnlocker on your computer. For this part make sure you have an ActiveSync (XP) or WMDC (Vista) connection to your phone. Click Flash SPL and go through the steps for CheetahUnlocker to Flash SPL. Don't worry about any of the other items in the menu.
11. After going through the steps in CheetahUnlocker and the phone, the phone will enter into tri-color bootloader screen momentarily followed by Loading screen...
12. Next, you'll see a light blue screen with the heading CHEEIMG.nhb followed by a few other entries below it. At this point, it will tell you press the power button. Go ahead and press the End Call/Power button. This will begin the ROM flashing. The ROM flashing takes about 5 to 15 minutes.
13. When the flashing is completed, the bottom of the screen will say Update successful and the entries above with the OK seen at the end. Now reset the Treo 750 with the stylus and immediately (during the Palm Logo) perform a Hard Reset. This is accomplished by pressing and holding the End Call/Power button and simultaneously resetting the Treo 750.
14. You will now be prompted to Erase All Data. Press the Up key of the D-Pad to continue and erase the data. This will format the phone.
11. Upon completion, the Treo 750 will continue to boot-up and go through the initial start-up steps and wizard. Once completed, your phone will now be unlocked, unbranded, and updated to Windows Mobile 6.1.
I made this thread to help people unbrand, unlock, and update their Treo 750s without having to waste hours looking for solutions and how-to something. Basically, made it easier for the noobies and everyone else to find everything in one thread.
Hey man Thanks a lot for the noob hand book
I'll try this but i dont know if it's works for me. if you can let me know thanks..
my treo 750

It should work on all Treo 750s!
Just make sure you are not running WM5 on it and its already upgraded to WM6.
It looks like yours already is WM6 from the 2.25.
SO you should be good!
Thanks for the info
I had a Dash, which I upgraded to 6.1 and it was great. Now I have a Treo and have unlocked it but am not sure how to format the SD stick. I must admit to being spoiled using 6.1 and being able to recognize the SD as a separate USB drive. Is there a way to do that with the AT&T version of 6.0? I am not seeing how to format the disk from the phone. Any ideas?
There are many programs you can find to format your SD card to FAT32. Just look around on XDA and you'll find some posts about it.
I just stuck into my computer and did a quick format to FAT32.
Finally a tutorial for this process that I could follow. The other night, I flashed my treo 750 to WM6.1. It didn't go smoothly for me however, and I had to do it a number of times before it "took". After each of the first 2 failures, I had to reflash back to WM6, and start over. I did nothing different, it just finally took. During one of my failures, it even booted WM6.1, but locked up and failed during the initial regional setting phase. It would help if the following section of the instructions were clearer:
12. Next, you'll see a light blue screen with the heading CHEEIMG.nhb followed by a few other entries below it. (WHAT ENTRIES?)
(WHY NOT HARD RESET DIRECTLY AFTER "Update successful"?)

I guess you could hard reset there but like i said in my post, i compiled the directions from various threads and that's what they said to do.
Were you able to unlock, unbrand, and upgrade the Treo eventually?
Thanks dubLeE so much for the detailed steps.. Here are my comments:
2. Select both options in MAGIC_UNLOCKER and click unlock. This will unlock your phone.
I didn’t do this step since I got my treo 750 originally unlocked.
3. Format your SD card to FAT32.
Succeeded.
4. Extract Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar and copy/paste CHEEIMG.nbh to the formatted SD card.
Succeeded.
5. Transfer 1_CHEE_MountExtROM.cab and 2_Chee_Extrom_rename.cab to your Treo 750.
Succeeded.
5. Run/Install 1_CHEE_MountExtROM.cab and then soft reset the phone.
Succeeded.

Succeeded.
8. Click and run Start>Programs>Chee_Extrom_Unlocker. Run it about 3 or 4 time and you should some type of error messages. Just OK or X them and soft reset the phone again.
OK, what I did is the following. I clicked on the program 3 to 4 times.. Each time I get an error but I ignore, finally I did one soft reset.
9. Open File Explorer and click the drop down arrow, in which you will now see ExtendROM. Open it and delete the 2 files in the partition folder.
The two files are found and deleted successfully.
Mmm this step faild so I couldn’t complete to the next step!!!!
My Treo restart to the colored screen and then I get a gray screen with a counter on the top left. Hey hammod2k, try running magic_unlocker and see if it make any difference.
If not, then do a hard reset on the phone and go through ALL of the steps again. I read somewhere on the forum that some people were having problems and a hard reset first helped unlock and install WM 6.1.
Thanks for your fast reply. I will try it and i will let you know

Ok, After longs hours on the computer, I found a way to fix it and load back up the ROM.
I have also been able to do all your steps line by line with success. I have been able to upgrade to W6.1 but my treo 750 is NOT YET UNLOCKED!!!!
I have done it twice. line by line, number by number and step by step. All with ease but still not unlocked.
Can someone tell me how to unlock it now?
I have a Rogers Version

Glad you were able to fix it! Do you mind posting what you did hear in case others run into the same problem?
Why do you say it's unlocked? How did you come to that conclusion? If you were able to install WM 6.1 then technically that means your phone was unlocked (correct me if i'm wrong).

I had the black screen like the other member on this forum. I had to reinstall my previous ROM/OS (after 10 hours of searching on the net for it) successfuly and then followed the steps again you listed and was successful at upgrading with ease.
However my Treo is still not Unlocked. Not sure what I did wrong or what you recommend I do...
I tried the 2 steps of the Cheetah method and then the Magic Unlocker and still not working.
When I insert my SIM it says SIM LOCK
You have tried 30 times, please wait until timeout... What is that or what does that mean?
Im still on W6.1 and followed all your steps accordingly.
omg, pop my xda forum cherry baby, do you love me?
ok, so after years of lusting after a windows powered pda in one form or another, I finally copped a really really cheap Palm Treo 750 here in Australia. When I received this bad boy, it had WM5.something installed on it.
This step by step guide allowed me to fix any problems and successfully upload (on the first time!) wm6.1
do it guys, seriously. if you can install a new program on your machine, then you can hook this **** up.
fo' real.

Where and when does it say SIM Lock? I've never seen this this issue before nor read about it in the forums anywhere.

Glad everything worked for you!
Really sorry for late reply… anyway, I have tried and yes it worked but I had to do it manually.. First I have uploaded the file using RUUWrapper.exe successfully flashed my ROM to WM6.1
I don’t know what I was thinking of after that to try another ROM made with an uploader called “Kaiser” and I damaged my Treo “BLACK SCREEN”… I got totally mad and I started to search all over the forums to find a solution since I tried to flash back to the original ROM, and tried like 2 or 3 ROMs but never succeeded to get my device boot up
I found a brilliant solution on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366771 which helped me to get my Treo up again
Finally it was by falt… but I still don’t understand the differences between :
1) Kaiser
2) Herman or I think they call it Hermes
3) Vouge
4) Raphael
6) Victor
Are there differences between all of them… are they depend on ROM type? What about Treo compatibility with the above types.. because my experience with Kaiser type cooked by someone I cannot recall his name was total failure..
finally i can say it was great experiance
Thanks
Hi,
I'm hoping someone could help me here please.
My Australian 3-branded (locked I think – never used another SIM in it) Treo 750 has stopped booting into Windows WM5. It stops at the Palm loading screen as the progress bar gets to the end.
I got it to boot again by doing a hard reset once. Then a couple of hours later when I took the battery out to put the SIM back into it (I had the sim out while I was hard resetting) the same thing happened again and it's been like this for a few days now. No matter how many times I hard reset it won't get past the Palm loading screen.
I've also tried to load an unofficial ROM to fix it using instructions found here but doesn't seem to want to load it (perhaps because the phone is not unlocked). I put the CHEEIMG.nbh file onto a formatted FAT32 miniSD and perform the hard reset pressing the PTT and reset button next to the memory card and it just says loading... and goes back to the tri-colour bootloader, with "Serial" down the bottom. I've formatted this card several times and tried also several times.
Would uploading an official ROM perhaps work? I don't have any official ROMs to try - does anyone have one they could upload from here please?
I'm limited in my options for unlocking and loading software as I can't get it to boot!
I'd be most grateful if anyone could help please, thanks.
Hi,
I got given a couple of Treo 750 phones. Both on the Optus Australian Network so I scratched around for days and found the upgrade software. Shows update 2.27
1st one went perfect.
2nd one on same computer got through copying files and executing update and stalled at the start of completing update.
I got the Windows mobile screen show and it just was not loading for ages. Previous one loaded and then asked for input of Date, touch screen settings etc.
The installer can be re run but says no USB connection at the moment.
I have done a hard reset and get the palm display then locks on the Windows Mobile screen.
I saw procedures to use the Mini SD card but the cards I have won't work in any treo, they are not SDHC type but standard 2G ones.
I next found the recovery tool but holding the left lower button and then hitting reset did not work but does work on my good phone where it shows the coloured bars and SPL....
The left button is a bit dodgy so I suspect it may be faulty. Is there anything else I can try?
EDIT: Ok I pulled apart the phone, looks like it had a hard life as broken case around two screws and they would not unscrew easily. Found the tiny button had dry solder joints. Fixed that up and was able to recover using the reset proceedure.
Phone now working.
could you explain in more detail what you did. thanks man

What would you like to know?
Once I physicaly repaired the phone as indicated in the edit I was able to hold the left hand button (which was faulty) and the reset at the same time that allowed me to get into the SPL mode and recover the phone.
I understand it very little and most posts on these forums are over my head.
I would like windows 6.1 but there is so much information that seems to conflict that I don't know I am game since it is now working on an official 6.0 Optus version.
I am happy to help but if you can maybe tell me where you are at the moment and what you want to acheive and what you have tried I hope I can fill in the gaps for you.
because im new to this to and i got stuck in the windows screen also. so i would like to know what to download and where from and step by step if you could please.
thanks man

Ok to start with what country are you in and what telco were you with eg Vodafone etc as you will need that as a start.
USA and im with AT&A
Try the method describe in the thread below - Mine work
Hi, you might want to try this method
Follow it one by one and do not skip a step
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460783
I just did mine last Saturday (it was a Vodafone phone)
AT&T should be easier since the Windows 6 ROM is easier to get
If you'd like to update to WM 6.1, you should upgrade first to WM 6
Something i read about the radio not working to full capacity if you upgrade straight to 6.1
As for the WM 6 ROM, i'm sure you can find it
Good luck
Hi All,
I have a Treo 750 and it WAS running WM 6.0 Professional (OFFICIAL) and I got it onto the phone and then tried to install WM 6.5 and then I downgraded to 5.0 and tried to update back to 6 and it bricked my treo, any of you wonderful xda ppl have any solution?
Also, I have tried installing the ROM again (via SD updater) and it looks like this:
SPLASH1 OK
BOOTLOAD OK
GSM OK
Micro P OK
EXTROM FAIL
OS
Update Terminate
UPDATE FAIL
I cant install the windows installer one as WMDC 6.1 or ActiveSync 4.5 WILL NOT show the device up on the computer. I have Windows Vista Home Basic, and when I tried MTTY, the only ports I get are COM1, COM2, and COM3. I can't get the usb to show up. Even with MTTY 0.01 when I got the USB connection, it would not open. Is it Vista? Or am I not doing it right? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED TO GET MY POOR TREO BACK!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
~Mike

Is this universal (i.e. Hermes/BA/Trinity) or just for the Treo 750. I think what bricked it in the first place was installing a custom rom by veisen (WM 6.5)
~Mike
Didnt Work
That one thing didn't work. It keeps coming up ERROR 226: FLASH WRITE ERROR Anything else???
