Any way to disable Wifi network notification? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have configured my Tilt to connect to my home Wifi network, and I want to leave Wifi running on the Tilt at all times so that I can just connect automatically when I get home.
However when I do this I get annoying notifications every 2 seconds about wireless access points in my vicinity. Is there any way to disable this notification for all networks?
Thanks.....

Goto Sounds & Notifications. You can disable all notifications for "Wireless network detected" event there.

And be ready to have a dead battery by the time you get home.

There should be an option where it says to not show this message again. On the notification**

Thanks, I tried that. However all notification options ('Display message on screen', 'vibrate', etc.) were already disabled for 'Wireless network detected'. However, I still get the notifications when a new network is detected! gar....

Yes, I think the ignore will only ignore until you toggle wifi again, or will only ignore networks which have alrday been dismissed. Anyone know for sure.
In any case, I too find this annoying use AEB+ to map the wifi on/of toggle to a long press on the Contacts softkey, then it is virtually hassle free to turn it on and off.

Try This
Here is a program i made that fixes this problem for the HTC touch pro, let me know if it works on your device.

Vibration on GPRS connect

Please, help me to disable vibration, that happens on every GPRS connection successful attempt. I am failed to find such registry settings.
You need to go into Start - Settings - Personal - Sounds and Notifications - Notifications.
Select the "Connection Established" event from the dropdown list and untick the "Vibrate" option.
Have to admit, I didn't realise Vibrate was an option under connect until I just took a look, but I can only assume you managed to set this to on at some point.
The option is in the registry under:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{8ddf46e7-56ed-4750-9e58-afc6ce486d03}]
Options under this key can be set to change the notification settings, but I am not sure of the various numbers. It is much easier to set through the method above. Also, I would not guarantee the last part of the registry location as this may be a generated location. The "(Default)" entry in this key on my device is set to "Connection Established" however, which is a dead giveaway.
Hope this helps,
Graham.
Thank you, but under "Connection Established" I have all boxes cleared. Vibration occuring only when GPRS connection established. No Active sync or Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth, or Dialing...
Hmm... The notifications settings is definitely the right place to set the vibration effect you are seeing (I have tested it here to make sure I am not telling you rubbish).
It sounds as though the notification settings for the connection have got themselves messed up on your device. I would suggest enabling/disabling various of the "Connection Established" settings to see if there is something wrong there (or if refreshing them might solve the problem).
The "Connection Established" notification does refer specifically to the GPRS connection (I am not sure about WiFi as the device I am using here is the XDA2, so it does not have WiFi). The telephone and Activesync have separate notification settings.
If it is feasible (and I appreciate that it is not always something people want to do) take a backup of important files and hard reset the device. This should restore everything to their defaults which should not include the vibration on GPRS connection.
Beyond that, I am afraid it is not a problem I am very familiar with. Hopefully someone else may read the post and give you a hand.
Graham.

Just select "None" for "Ring Type".

Thanks GBird for the tip, it was driving me crazy!

"Connecting to GPRS" alert...

Hey,
I was just wondering if there was a tweak of some sort that would disable the stupid and annoying "Connection to GPRS" alert bubble that occasionally comes around. I'd be typing a message and it would randomly pop up and completly mess up my message and GPRS connection cuz sometimes by pressing "space" it selects the option "cancel". thanks!

you can install a program called GB Tweak that will keep your GPRS connection always on.
There's also a registry settings somewhere that will keep it always on ...
but there might be a problem where u may not receive phone calls if your data connection is on .... but we're not 100% sure of that.
Actually, there is a setting that's easily accessible. Go to Start Menu>Settings>Personal>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications.
Under Event, go to "Connection Established" and uncheck "Display message on screen". That should do it. Some programs re-establish this setting, don't know why, but that's the easiest solution.

great thanks phreke!

Data connection never drops

I was away for a week and upon returning my Tilt is exhibiting some strange behavior that's different from before.
Basically, data connections never drop. So once the first ActiveSync, use of Pocket IE, etc, occurs, the connection stays on forever. For example I just checked my phone and the connection has been active for over 16 hours (the phone sat hibernated for most of that time).
I could have sworn that previously, the connection would drop after some period of inactivity. The little H with the signal strength on the title bar would change back to the triangle antenna. But no more. I tried with HSDPA off too and saw the same problem (except I got a little 3G instead of a little H above the signal bars).
I even hard-reset my Tilt and this did not fix it.
What can explain why my data connections used to drop on their own before but suddenly stopped doing so? Basically, my phone used to behave as if the "disconnect after" KaiserTweak was enabled (even though I never enabled it) but it's now behaving as if "always on" is enabled (even though it is not enabled).
So you know about Kaiser Tweak - have you loaded Kaiser Tweak and set the setting? and it still behaves this way?
I cannot explain it - but if Kaiser Tweak fixes it do you still need an explanation?

I agree with Bill... If You have a solution that will work even though you haven't had to use it before, why not fix the problem a new way instead of Dwelling on the problem.
Maybe Check this. In Phone Goto Menu -> Data Tab. Check your Check Box on Disable data connections when device enters Sleep Mode. Soft Reset and see if that will fix it for you.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I didn't want to fix this with the KaiserTweak because it comes with a disclaimer that (a) it might not work with all programs and (b) is might prevent simultaneous voice and data calls. The latter seems more problematic; maybe this is not an issue with 3G/HDSPA (and only with the older data technologies)?
I can't find a data tab anywhere. I have a Tilt with stock ROMs... is the menu and data tab available somewhere? I'd like to try that suggestion.

If you don't have that tab the option has been "hidden" by the ROM Makers. So Though there is a way to get to it, It is One I don't know.
I would suggest then getting Schaps Advanced Config, Is what I use to put my Data Connections to off after three minutes. I haven't had any problems with simultaneous lovin' with Voice and Data.
Well I turned on the KaiserTweak for this and it works. Maybe I had it enabled before and didn't realize.
One thing I notice is that I always get the "connecting to" balloon pop-up when a connection is being established, even if I tell it to hide. So there's one annoyance, but it's better than having my battery drain down due to the constant connection.
Interestingly this never drop behavior coincided with the switch-over from the behavior of the 3G icon that goes to H only when a connection is established, to always showing the H icon. Could these 2 behaviors be connected somehow, and due to a change on AT&T's side?
You can turn off the notification by going to settings -> sounds and notifications -> notifications tab ->event = connection established, uncheck "display message on screen".
I was just experimenting and I found that enabling the "disconnect after" KaiserTweak prevents simultaneous voice and data. If a voice call is going, I cannot establish a data connection and if a call comes in the data connection drops. If the KaiserTweak setting is not enabled, I can get simultaneous voice and data.
My phone always shows the H icon.
It seems I have to choose between the stock setting of "connection never drops, and drains battery" and the KaiserTweak setting of "can't get simultaneous voice and data connections". Ouch!
Does BandSwitch use a different way to handle forcing the disconnections, or is going to boil down to the same registry setting that KaiserTweak uses for this?

Prompt before switching to 3G?

I did a search and couldn't find anything on the topic: is there a way of making the Diamond prompt you before opening a 3G/GPRS connection?
At the moment I work in a building with bad WiFi reception in some parts, if I enter on of these areas the phone automatically switches from WiFi to 3G for data transfer without prompting me. This is contributing to my phone bills
Thanks
yes i agree, some kind person please make an app/tweak for this, if i move out of range of wifi it goes straight to gprs/3g, and at the moment im roaming in portugal and costs of gprs/3g while roaming are astronomical!!!
if you tap start/ settings "sounds and notifications" then notifications tap on the scroll down view for notifications select connection established, where you will have the option to recieve sound vibrate and on screen message upon a data connection established

Wifi Connection Available Notification

I searched the threads and couldn't find anything...
I go into settings, uncheck "Wifi Network Notification" and uncheck "notify me when launching apps, notify me when wifi is available", and it doesn't work. It always notifies me that there is a network available. The icon is perpetually there as long as a connection is available. Please help me fix this.
I'm on ViperOne but i had this issue on stock sense 5.5 as well. It's one of the reasons i rooted, but rooting did not appear to fix it.
Thanks.
I'm having the same problem, though it disappears whenever WiFi is turned off. It is still annoying to have to turn off WiFi whenever I leave my home network in order to avoid getting the notification, despite the fact that there has always been a setting for it...
Is there a fix for this (besides turning off wifi/ rooting and flashing)?
