I want to control my itunes client on the pc via my mobile can anyone recommend me an application for pocket pc for this - preferably free!!! I have my pc transmitting via a usb radio transmitter meaning all my hi fis in the house can now play the music!! all i need is a remote control for itunes!!!!!!!
There is a few methods. What they rely on though usually is setting up a web http based interface on the computer iTunes is on and your phone connecting to the web page.
Usually you'll find most of the HTTP stuff being setup for PSP's which is fine it will work for you.
The method above links:

A pretty oddball way that you might be able to get working on a PDA:

Try Salling Clicker. Not free, but worth the price.

PuppetMaster - the program that turns your mobile phone into a universal remote controller for Windows. PuppetMaster works using bluetooth technology to allow you to control your computer from a short range, or GPRS data to control your computer from anywhere in the world!
Do you have a PowerPoint presentation to give? PuppetMaster allows you the freedom of a remote controller - at only a fraction of the price. It'll show you your slide notes as you go, and on supported phones, even the actual slides themselves!
Perhaps you just want to skip the song that is currently playing through iTunes or WinAMP? Just a click on your mobile phone and you're on to the next song. Or you can browse or search your songs by name or artist.
If you're proficient with VBScript or JavaScript, you can make PuppetMaster perform just about any action you wish. And if you're not, you can use the built-in scripts, as well as configure your own keymaps or file-open actions to provide a wide range of functionality.

I have used this software for about 8 months on my symbian phone....Wanted to post it a long time back and finally managed to post it today...It works like a treat on the wizard...though some buttons are preconfigured for symbian but you can always assign your own shortkeys to control your windows media player and any player in the world from ur pocket pc...it gives u an option to search the playlist in ur winamp for the song u want(press space button when in winamp mode) and the only thing u have to do is press enter on your PPC and your song plays on the pc...browse your PC from Pocket pc...get into mouse mode and the mouse moves on the desktop when u move the stylus on the pocket pc...u can configure in such a way that when u receive a call on ur PPC the winamp pauses on the desktop and resumes once u r done with the call...shutdown/restart ur pc from ppc through bluetooth...when there is power outage and u want to listen to songs on ur winamp then just switch of ur monitor and control the songs via ppc and then later shutdown the pc when ur battery backup is abt to finish(the backup comes for more than1 hour with the monitor switched off) the capabilites are unlimited...just try it!!!!
Try it out! Download it and use the demo for free. The demo version provides a limited number of actions before you are disconnected and must reconnect. The full version can be registered securely from within the program to give unlimited usage. Payments are processed via eSellerate. Alternatively, payments can be accepted via PayPal - Contact page

I use Remote Touch and Remote Desktop Mobile, I have used the latter for 6mths over GPRS and am still impressed.
GRemote to control PC Media devices, also has a cool laptop Touchpad style mouse...
Cannot live without My Mobiler to control my Kaiser from my PC
ALL of these work over wireless lan, blutooth and the internet
how well does remote desktop work? Does it allow you to view your PC screen on your phone? Its something iv considered trying but iv never been to sure on what the results would be/whether it would be worth it!

I use RDM+ and it works great.
Hey all.
How about a simple music server for the G1 that uses a windows compatible file sharing system? (smb?)
I am always at a loss for music to listen to on my laptop, but my G1 has about 10 gigs of music on it.. it would be great to have an app that shared this out simply, and allowed my windows box to browse the contents of the phone without having to tether via usb.
By the by, I'm available to any developers out there who need animation / graphics for Android apps / games. Get in touch via my website at cartoonmonkey dot com.

That would completely rape your battery, you'd need to have it plugged in after an hour or two. Why not just use a USB cord?
If there's anyone doing the opposite of this, and wants to listen to music on their G1 that's stored on the PC, check out five: http://code.google.com/p/five/
Unfortunately there's only a Linux server atm.
Use Orb.com works great for me, can view my web cam, open any picture, most videos, and get all the music from it.

OK here is an app I believe it might do what you're asking, honestly I haven't tried it enough (only showed my Laptop's screen on my tilt's screen, which's -as you know- so small for comfortable viewing), then I could handle it (windows explorer of my laptop) almost completely.., so yea I guess this can help, "Z2 Remote2PC"
the publisher's site is: <www.z2software.com>.. and of course.. google
Cheers, T
Once again... GRemote

Hi,
I am avid reader of these forums, and finally pulled the trigger and got the Samsung Captivate (I had to stick with AT&T). I am relatively new to Android, and I was stunned but what I got with my Captivate!! (all due respect to my old beloved Tilt with WiMo). To think I was seriously considering iPhone 4
Anyway, I am yet to root the phone - will wait a few more days to get comfortable. For now I have been playing with a ton of apps etc.
I have a 100 GB iTunes Library which sits on my home server. I am looking for a solution where I can selectively sync certain albums and playlists to my phone. No point in carrying around 2 devices. I have already tried Double Twist. The problem is I need to install the client on my Laptop and get the music synced from the home server. I have got this working by manually adding 1 folder at a time - which is cumbersome, and not to mention that I loose artwork, ratings etc.
So, I am looking to [Home Server] <--> [Laptop] <--> [Phone]. At any point the source for this library is the Home Server, Laptop is only a pass thru.
Why use the laptop in the middle? I don't want to store media files here (work laptop).
Why not directly sync with the Home Server? It sits in the basement and I am lazy to go down the every time I want to sync that was my major irritant with iPod syncing.
Any recommendations?
Regards
Nick
Can't you set up home sharing in iTunes? That way you can see your library from your server on your laptop, and have doubletwist pull your playlist from that iTunes.
Home Server <--> Laptop --> DoubleTwist --> Captivate
I can't remember the exact steps, but I know you can pull from a home server like you are saying. Most people do it with their home theater set ups, but I don't see why it couldn't be done this way
I just use estrong file manager, and am able to get to my file shares via wifi. While this might work exactly like you want you won't have to plug in. just a thought.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-CAPTIVATE using XDA App
I found Doubletwist to be unstable. I used MediaMonkey. It supports playlists and syncing to mounted drives or media devices. If you mount your homeserver as a drive letter on the laptop, then MediaMonkey should work fine.
The free version did all i needed, but it doesn't sync video - just music.
Google is your friend.

This works with any android phone.
