Converting video for Kaiser - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi,
What do you use to convert (any) video files to play on your Kaiser?
I have several video files (AVI, MPG, MP4) but it plays not good on Kaiser (sometimes jerky, not smooth).
What should be used for the codec, bitrate, etc ... the best setting for Kaiser.
And then play it using Windows Media or TCPMP of course.
Thanks for any suggestions

I use a program called Pocket Divx Encoder. I used these program to convert my DIVX and WMV files so they can be played backed TCPMP. I have done 300, Transformers, DOOM and more.
http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/
NOTE: I genereally convert the DVD to DIVX using Vidomi (700MB to 1000MB), then I convert with this tool.

No, but I am always willing to check out new stuff.

Thanks for the input.
I have checked SpB Mobile DVD, but it does not have BATCH feature to convert more than 1 files at once.
I like to have that feature, convert all files, go to sleep, wake up and all done
After searched, I found "Wondershare Ripper Platinum" which has BATCH feature, but I dont have any experience with it.

Looks good btw ...

Did you try Raw FrameBuffer instead of the default DirectDraw video driver? Smooth as butter for me using Raw FrameBuffer.
I used Clone DVD Mobile to rip from DVDs on .wmv files. When I tried to play through TCPMP I got a message that it could not play the file (something to do with codecs).
I use that as well, what profile did you rip it to? You might try Pocket Divx Encoder (PDXE), it works well too.
I used Generic WMV, tried to keep it simple. I'll look up Pocket Divx Encoder. What player do you use on the Tytn?
heh, tcpmp isn't compatible with .wmv files. and video viewing on wmp is a less than pleasant experience.

it will work if you install the WM5 WMV9 codecs (search)
Found that DVDs encoded to 3gp work with WMP, no jerkiness with the video. Perhaps not the highest quality but adequate to keep me occupied during long waits.

I play TV episodes (HD rips) straight from p2p right into TCPMP, no reencoding. Am able to both on Hermes and Kaiser. Hermes I had to enable microdrive and increase buffer, Kaiser runs it like a champ!

I don't know about converting the videos (yet)...but I do know that using ActiveSync to upload the videos with is SLOW. If you have a Storage Card...just put it in a USB reader and plug it into your desktop for VERY FAST file transfers.
I'm not even looking for a video converter for the Tilt yet until the drivers are fixed...which who knows how long that will take.
For converting videos try this one The pocket DivX encoder (http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/) it converts .avi files to most of PDAs video size and it also work with subtitle inserting.
A nice one
I use Spb Mobile DVD for converting. Although not free, works very well.
Good Converter
I use Sompy MovieEncoder. It converts my 700mb avi files to 120mb - 135mb in about a minute or two. You'll have to play the file in TCPMP or Coreplayer however. Use a card reader to transfer file to your device. As a new guy to this site, I've read about the driver issue. I really haven't experienced(no 3D games or emulators) it. I will say that Sompy's conversion as heads and shoulders better than Media Player's. If the source is good, you wont have any pixelation in full screen. You might want to try it out. Almost forgot...Sompy works on video files...it's not a dvd ripper. Watching Hitman on it now.
If you already have your movie in a divx format on your pc then for converting from DIVX to QVGA divx try PocketDivXEncoder. If you want to go from DVD to divx, it's a bit more complicated.

DVD to Pocket PC..?

What is everyone using to rip a DVD to Pocket PC?

There is a free tool PocketDivXEncoder at http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/
and the tutorial on how to use it at http://forum.videohelp.com/topic349738.html
Enjoy.
Pocket Divx doesn't work? can it nor read directly from the CD?
CloneDVD Mobile, works very well, updated often;
http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonedvd-mobile.html
I use PocketDivx, it works well..
but I've also got Aplus DVD Ripper that works as well, but it does cost money.
Try the trial version and see if it works for you
It has several options to rip the dvd to, PPC is one of the choices
from their site:
"it also able to convert almost DVD to Apple iPod MP4 files, Apple iPhone MP4 files, Apple TV MP4 files , Youtube's Video, flv video , Sony PSP MP4 files, Cell phone 3GP files, Zune files, Pocket PC files , PDA files, Xvid files etc, So you can enjoy your DVD movies in your portable media player."
it works for me, but it does cost $40

Me too - very user friendly.
SPB mob DVD+ coreplayer = driver issue solved ?
I tested at least 5 rippers.
SPb wasthe best and the fastest.
ripping a dvd to 25fps Xvid format with a bitrate of 499 results in FLAWLESS playback on coreplayer 1.2.2.
i got no lag, perfect Q image and sound.
this said, i more and more believe that the original file being converted is the main reason of having lag and blaming it on missing HW accelaration.
Don't get me wrong. 3D support will certainly still improve, but playing a full dvd seems not a problem anymore.
other tips; free enough RAm, disbale any virus scanners or other soft running in the background.

Is there any way to get large videos to play @ full speed?

I'm using TCPMP and I can't get bigger files to play smooth for the life of me...any suggestions?

I second that Especially the new Zune is really nice. You can connect via your router to sync your music. I just hate the zune syncing software it's such a pain in the ass. I wish we could sync with WMP. I mean come on seriously.
Pocket Divx encoder
I had the same problem with my touch. TCPMP would not play large video's .avi even though it supports it. I used Pocket Divx Encoder to reduce the .avi according to my screen size and now I can watch any .avi without any problems and the audio and picture is still incredibly clear. I max out video and audio quality still with no problems during playback.
Pocket Divx Encoder is free
Hope this works for you and enjoy your video's
I use CorePlayer (based on TCPMP ) to play my Divx files (700 to 900 Mo each resolution 660*360, datarate 1010kbps) without any specific Mobile transcoding and it plays quite well with the right settings, with some rare glitches (but i guess it will never work flawlessly until we have the real Kaiser drivers).
TCPMP is good, but Coreplayer is faster on the Kaiser from my own experience.
The only down side about Coreplayer (aside from the fact its not freeware) is that it cannot play AC3 sound unlike TCPMP (due to open source licence)
why i dont understand it...when i had my standard att WM 6.0 rom that came with my tilt...i watched avis and mpeg4//divx movies CRYSTAL CLEAR....and thatt was with no htc ca driver or none of that ****. And now ive upgraded to WM 6.1..first duttys hybrid then L26 and now garmins...and each rom has the same problem...old tcpmps crash and when i use the repack tcpmp app and it works....i have SLUGGISH and chopppy fps when i watch avi movies and mpeg stufff. How is this possible with all the new drivers and such....it was crystal clear to watch movies with WM 6.0..but with 6.1 its choppy and ****ty playback? has anybody found a better fix for this other then converting the movies to sccreen resolution?
have lookedeverywhere for pocket divx encoder but unable to d/l it can anyone post please?
Try xvid4psp. It's free, fast and has enough options. I use MP4 iPod 5.0G settings for Kaiser.
thanks will give it a shot

Sorry, my previous post was meant to be reply to felixthecat.
So, to make things clear:
- XviD4PSP is not media player for PPC.
- XviD4PSP is software for converting videos. You can find it here.
- MP4 iPod 5.0G is just one of the format settings in Xvid4PSP.

I use Core Player for videos. Videos converted with XviD4PSP using my settings does not play well in WM player. You can try it with some other settings.
Here are my current settings:
- Format: MP4 iPod 5.0G
- Denoise/Sharpen: Disabled
- Brightness/Contrast: Disabled
- Video encoding: XviD HQ Ultra
- Audio encoding: AAC-LC ABR 128
I don't know what you mean with "bigger vids", but I use it for converting my divx/xvid movies and shows to MP4 and it works well. I think it supports even DVD files, but i didn't try that.
Last time i checked it took 6 minutes to convert some 30 minutes divx show to MP4 (Athlon X2 4000+, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800GT).
One more thing about Core Player
Core Player with default setup gives me audio out of sync. But you can adjust that in options.
i tried those settings and didn't get a good result
works now i have upgraded coreplayer ... thanks alot

Play movies on the diamond

I tried to play a movie (.avi file) with windows media player on the diamond but it doesnt work. Which format must the movie have to play with windows media player? Is there other good programs beside coreplayer mobile? I dont want to buy coreplayer, do i have to install a codec on the diamond?
Do i have to convert to a special format, i transfered a movie sample file (.avi) from my computer to the diamonds internal memory but when i try to open the movie with windows media player, it doesnt work, what should i do?

Try the previous version of Coreplayer, TCPMP. It's freeware.
use TCPMP, theres a speical version of it for WM6.1 devices, plays any file format you throw at it and super smooth with more options than you can shake a stick at!
oh, and its FREE!

Agree. Hands down best media player. Smooth as it gets!
Thanks for your help i will try TCPMP, but should i just transfer the movie to diamond and then open it with TCPMP?
Yes it works now, how do i zoom in with TCPMP to remove the two black lines that are often in movies or do i have to somehow change the resoultion of the movie so it fits the screen?
when you install TCPMP you can set file assosiations so you can just click on the file itself to play, but of corse you can also go the long way around and open TCPMP first

yes, i use ImTOO Mpeg encoder to change resoloutions, i personally find that encoding files to .mpeg at 500 bit rate and 320x240 does a perfect job for me, doesnt take up much space on the internal storage and you dont notice any loss of quality playing it at full screen
i tried the TCPMP player.. although its good and convinent but it still can't play some .flv files downloaded from the internet, and the interface wasn't as perfect/ pretty.
I took on a more hassle approach. Downloaded PSPVC (a freeware that is able to convert most types of movie files into mp4 format) converted my movie files into mp4 format and then play them using the default windows media player 10. Works perfectly!
PlugIn FLV pour TCPMP
