WM6: Is it even WORTH the upgrade??? - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

When I first got my Herald I spend a good day or so customizing the hell out of WM5, editing the registry, installing custom themes, dialers, etc... so everything was to my liking. Then I saw screens of WM6 and waited eagerly for HTC to release the official WM6 ROM. By the time the ROMS were out there I was already happy with the way my Herald was functioning under WM5.
My question is this: Of those of you who have used WM5 and then upgraded to WM6, was it worth it? What benefits can I expect to see other than a slightly better looking interface??? Does the phone itself operate better? Do you have better reception? Better memory usage when using multiple apps?

March 2006: What is the BEST ROM FOR 8125 right now?

Had my 8125 Wizard now for 2 weeks. Absolutley love it - wish it was a little faster. It frequently hangs up for 1 to 2 seconds when I rapidly switch tasks.
Was looking to update to the BEST most STABLE ROM currently available, and then maybe load OmapClock to bump up to like 228mhz?
WHAT IS THE CURRENT BEST/STABLE ROM?
I did a load of searching on here but the dates are scattered throughout the past year or so... Thought I would start a NEW CURRENT THREAD.
I have seen numerous posts with issues on the new 2.x.x roms so I guess I should stay away from those for a while???
Im just looking to upgrade from my factory Cingular ROM to something better and stable. I am a total PocketPC New.B so any info/links on how to and where to locate and install these roms would also be appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance
try the last one... realeased today

I thought that was for a QTek 9100 ? Will it still work for my 8125? am I correct to understand that all HTC WIZARD roms are compatible with each other???
Cingular, T-Mobile, QTek, iMate, Dopod, O2, etc... they all are HTC Wizard with different badges and covers or shells sharing the same blood.
I upgraded my Dopod 838 with the latest iMate ROM that is the best investment I've done to this device.
There are many happier Cingular 8125 owners with upgraded non-Cingular ROMs. The new ROM certainly makes the device snappier, among other improvements.
Look around this board and read on. Enjoy.

upgrading to WM6, worth it?

does upgrading a cingular 8125 to WM6 worth it?
What are the diferences that you get?
Dont you loose some performance upgrading to WM6 on cingular 8125?
Thanks
I've only updated a couple of days ago, and tried out 3 or 4 diferente ROM's.
I can tell you that the performance is great, better than using WM5.
The rest, you can choose, and try.
Only then can you see if it's worth.
I've been running WM6 ROMs on my 8125 ever since the first one was leaked here on xda. I can tell you -- without a doubt -- there's NO WAY I'd ever go back to WM5.
The device is MUCH more responsive and snappier than it was with WM5. I can't think of more than a couple of times in the past 4 months that I've had it freeze up or hang when running apps.
There's plenty of WM6 ROMs in the Wizard Mobile 6 forum. Just take a look at each one and see what it has to offer. No one particular ROM will satisfy everybody, as each person has their own likes and dislikes. Just read the entire thread for the ROMs you're considering to see if it's the one for you.
I upgraded to WM6 and shortly after: Back again to WM5.
I think you don't really need WM6 because there are only little improvements to WM5. The Speed-up is the same as after a normal Hard-Reset, what is often said here is maybe a "feeled" speed up, it's everything but objective.
What you get from the "cooked" WM6 versions, you can find here, is a different software equipment, which in some cases really can be interesting. But if you really need some, you can install it on your WM5 aswell.
I think you should try and decide by yourself. It's the only way to get a good answer.
I also was running WM6 and am now going back to 5. It was nice, but I had a lot of missed calls as well as bluetooth problems. Try it out for yourself and see if you like it.
wm6
just like newbie I'm using wm6 since then.
only went back one time to wm5 cause i messed up my wizard and wanted to start from scratch.
the speed is tremendously faster than with wm5
about the mentioned missed calls, did not occur to me as yet.

Best ROM for Trinity?

Yes, i understand theres no 'best' rom, all are different. But i'm looking for a good WM 6.1 rom that isn't bloated with heaps of applications, though things like touch-flo are nice.
Something nice and up to date, where things like GPS are going to work. There are so many options, but i was wondering if one could be recommended.
Its for a Dopod 810 which is the same as the P3600 as i understand it. Currently running WM5.

New to the Xperia X1! Woo!

Hey everyone, I'm new to the xperia x1, and I'm a little lost. I read a lot about the rom development and I've seen soooo many people using the 6.5 roms, and the 6.1 roms. I'm not sure which to use... Regardless, I thought I'd ask you guys some questions:
1) what is the best 6.1 rom, for european (vodafone). I don't want the vodafone rom, but I would like to know what's a more "oem" 6.1 rom that's been customized. I'd like the panels and such, until I get bored of them. I do need good battery life, that's for sure. Can anyone recommend a good 6.1 rom?
2) 6.5, OK, I know it's a lot better. But one error i've seen is that the alarm clock doesn't work in a lot of devices. Does it work in ALL the xperia 6.5 roms? Could anyone recommend a good, battery strong, not too flashy with panels (since i'd like to use the panels and then also use the touch flo 3d) ROM to use? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks a bunch guys
Welcome !
I am using the UK GENERIC R3A ROM. If you want a nice customized one, I guess itje's "Touch It" is the way to go.
Tried many 6.5 roms, but by far the most flashed and used on my handset are Agent 47's Firestorm roms. They rock. Only had OS alarm not working with one release (can't remember which one, but think it could have been 2.1), anyway, his roms come highly recommended by me
And these 3 roms you're recommending are pretty much good on battery life? I use push email and I send TONS of messages a day.
hi and welcome
what i'm getting of youre questions is that you want a good battery life. sinds i'm using wm6.5 the battery life improved i dont know how maybe wm6.5 handels the background programming better.
so if i where you i would go for the new wm6.5 and you can use itjes one that looked the most stable for me.
Just wondering, I saw a little while back an xperia rom for 6.5, OEM (more or less). I just want everything to work out of the box, and then I'd like to do the changing later on. Which 6.5 build would you recommend that is the most complete?
Thanks

WM 6.5 Official Uncooked Upgrade, should I go branded(t-mobile) or unbranded(htc)?

Hi everyone,
I have a T-Mobile TP2 and have been torn on whether or not to upgrade to 6.5 for some time now. Well I finally decided to go for it, but then came across the official unbranded HTC rom.
My question is (dealing only with official release updates from tmobile and htc):
Who has upgraded to both branded and unbranded and can relay pros and cons of both compared to 6.1 and each other? Or has anyone heard enough about both, or can give me any relevant information?
Also, do I need to HardSPL in order to flash the HTC rom?
I'd really like to lose all the bloatware and sh!tty splash screen and everything else t-mo, but I don't know if there is any clear-cut advantage to doing so.
Also, if I am completely daft and missed a similar pre-existing thread, please inform me of my mistake. Same goes if I posted in the wrong section, this is my first post in evar.
THANKS!!!
Put Hardspl on your phone and you can test yourself You can always go back to the 6.1 rom.
is there a stock manila 2.5 ROM offered by t-mo?
if not, 2.5 + CHT is definately worth using the HTC ROM.
I would not mess with Sense 2.5 unless it is cooked. You need a lot of tweaks to make it run smoothly on the TP2, especially in HTC messaging. I am using a cooked version of the T-Mobile stock rom with Sense 2.1, has been the best and most stable rom for me yet. Sense 2.5 is good if you don't mind giving up some performance for new features. Sense 2.1 is what our devices run best with. Hope this helps you decide.
EDIT: In comparison to WinMo 6.1 with TF3D, upgrading to 6.5 with Sense2.1 will in my opinion make the device run smoother. 6.1 is a very solid OS and works well with TouchFlo to make scrolling much easier. However, I say if you can upgrade the device to 6.5 without losing performance go for it because it is much better integrated than TouchFlo, making the touch experience much better. Through my testing, the TP2 functions best with WinMo 6.5 with Sense2.1. The newer WinMo builds are probably better off using on the HD2 and other high performance devices. Same thing with Sense2.5, it can run smoothly but you will be giving up some speed as well as memory and battery life. I have come to terms with my phone, lol... Nothing beyond Sense2.1 and WM6.5 from now on. But you have to test on your own to see which you like better. Good luck!
I've been cooking own ROM for a few weeks now, and it's a T-Mobile no frills ROM.
It's not quite finished, but it's very stable and the battery life is excellent. I could always use another tester if you're interested.

You would have to hard SPL to use the HTC ROM.
The Official WM 6.5 is a sense 2.1 version, but you would not need to hard SPL.
Thanks for all of your help!
I'm still not sure what i'll do for now, but i'll probably end up just biting the bullet and becoming an addict. I'll start with the official sh!t and gateway into flashing every stable rom that exists lol.
