Fix for automatic profile going vibrate during "free" event? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

When an all-day calendar event is marked free (not busy or out of office) and the automatic profile is selected, the TyTN II switches to vibrate mode. I expected the phone to remain in the normal sound profile, as if there wasn't a scheduled appointment. Is there a fix for this?

But you Do have an appointment, as you said you have an all-day calendar event...so in essence, it's an appointment.

Well no not really, its not an appointment because that would require him to be busy or out of office, its a reminder because he set the status to free.
I can say that using SPB Phone Suite in automatic profiles will not switch to meeting mode (i.e silent or whatever I set the profile to) if the appointment/calendar-entry is set to free.
The problem is that if I have a 2 day event which starts on the last day of the week (i.e Friday) and ends on the first day of the next new week (i.e Monday), on Saturday & Sunday my phone will go into meeting mode/profile which is really annoying. I wish the phone knew that weekends dont count as work days or that it would ask me if I really have 2 day event which cooincides with the weekend or is it really a 4 day event.

HTC Home Sound tab

The Automatic button in the HTC Home Sound tab will set the device to vibrate during the scheduled event in the calendar. However this is done also for all-day events. Consequently if I have an all-day event such as 'Vacation' then the device has vibration set for the whole day - pretty lame in my opinion. At least there should be a minimum of configuration options, but then this is a 'free' app after all...
Hmm at least you know how it works=)
i have been figuring how and i can't come up with a way at all

customize email syncing

hey guys is there anyway to set it up where my phone only downloads my emails during set hours? i'm sick of waking up in the middle of the night cuz i just inherited $5 million dollars from my long lost ancestor in nigeria....
in active sync you can change the time interval and time to connect like 10 til 18.00 rest by hand
hey, sorry but i still dont get it. you mean i should go to activesync on my comp while my phone is connected? i did that and didnt see any settings for limiting the number of hours my phone downloads emails... please clairify. thanks
omar
One thing I do so it doesn't wake me up at night is disable the notifications. I just remember to check my mail during the day. I don't need to get buzz/alarm each time a mail comes in. If you want to try this do the following:
Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications
From the drop down tab select "Messaging: New e-mail message" and you can set the type of alarm you get. I just disable everything.
If you're using Active Sync to sync you mail (I don't, I use IMAP) you can setup a schedule as the previous post states. Just go to ActiveSync, click on Menu and there's an option for Schedule.
I understand your frustrations with this, but rather than limiting the download, why not limit the notifications. What I found and installed was PhoneWeaver from SBSH.net. This is an automatic profile changer. With this you can specify when and what notifications are set and how loud they are. For me, I have it set to be on vibrate while during work hours, silent at night, and full ring all the rest of the time. For me, this works great.
Hope this helps.
Good suggestions, thanks. I have a 17 year old son that goes out on the weekends and I want to have my phone ring if he needs me. But I have three email accounts and several google notifications that send me a lot of emails. Middle of the night waking up to an email blows.
When I travel, I have been just putting the Kaiser into flight mode, but that doesn't let my wife phone me during an emergency. So, disabling notification before I go to bed in those situations makes a lot of sense.

Ring/Vibrate Automatic option on HTC Home.

For those wondering which one it is, it's the last icon on Home and last icon on the top. I never realized this option until now. But how do i access the scheduling of ring/vibrate?
It's linked in with your WM calender. When you're in an appointment it'll vibrate and when you're not it'll ring. I'd be happier if it did the opposite as when I'm at work I could do with a louder tone, but still. I guess it's handy for some people.

Hmm, is it possible to change the settings whether you would want it to still ring on a certain appointment?
I prefer Phone Alarm for this function.

This feature is built directly into WM6 Standard. On Standard, the automatic profile would still ring if the appointment is marked as "Free." However, the HTC Home automatic profile will still mark "Free" appointments as vibrate. I have yet to figure out how to get it to do otherwise.

Has anyone figured out how to NOT switch the phone to vibrate on "free" appointments but on all others? It is quite annoying for me if the phone switches to vibrate, especially on all day birthday events.

It's frigging annoying. Even though I set the all day appointment as "free", it still goes to vibrate mode. Nearly all of my appointments are all day events. Hence I can't use the automatic mode. Damn!
If i disabled touchflo, where can you enable this option ?

Ringing Profiles

Does anyone know how to assign different ringing profiles on the Tilt?
My old phone, I have different settings for a Loud Ring, Soft Ring, etc.
The reason is that I have my Tilt checking my emails every 30 minutes and it sucks when at 3 am I get a ringing from a junk email that I received.
I know that in the HTC Home for the ringer, there are 4 choices - Standard, Silent, Vibrate and Automatic....what is the automatic for?
Any advise/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Someones got to know the answer to this question. .....

I **LOVE** the Automatic Profile.
When you set the phone to Automatic the Profile is on Normal UNLESS your calendar contains an appointment that you have marked as "Busy". Whenever a 'busy' appointment happens the phone AUTOMATICALLY switches to the "Vibrate" profile for the duration of the meeting. Then, it switches back to Normal.
I love it!
I'm good at remembering to turn my sounds off during appointments.....but I never remember to turn them back on again!!!
-Dawn
Hm....for some reason it also changes to vibrate even if the appointment mentions that I am free...

Schedule mail checking

Hi all,
I see I can set the email accounts to fetch check every 15 mins which is great - and play a sound when I have email - even better. However, I am often on call and need the phone on at night but do not want the 'you have mail' sound every time I get a spam at 03:00 Is there a way to schedule the email checking so it only occurs during daylight hours???

Yes - they're 'peak hours' on the activesync screen
I cannot see 'pak hours' so must be looking in the wrong place. Can you walk me through it? These are POP3/IMAP email accoutns by the way - not exchange - does that make a difference?
Hello,
I had the same demand and found with the Phone Suite from Spb the best solution. Beside some profiles like loud, meeting and so on you have the possibility to configure a time-controlled profile where you are able to disable the sms or mail.
For me between 11pm and 08am there are no sms and mail sounds - only telephone calls.
Andy
There is another very good reason for turning it off during night: saving the battery. As for the spb phone suite, it's an overkill and many of its functions conflict with existing ones added by HTC.
Does anybody know if there is a registry entry where the schedule is stored? If it is in the registry, it should be trivial to write a small program that allows you to turn off mail sync at night.
ok - I can see scheduling for my hotmail and itis perfect - only between these hours and either check every X mins or as they arrive. If only I could use the scheduling part for my POP/IMAP accounts...
