Sent emails cut off characters; "FRONT-END-HTTPS" apprearing in sent messages
Im having an issue with sending emails via my exchange account in Outlook Mobile. I first noticed this when people told me that messages i had sent them contained "FRONT-END-HTTPS: on" in the body. WHen i took off my signature, this disappeared from my sent messages. However, i then noticed that some characters were getting cut off in the messages.
For example,
I sent an email with the following in the body "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz". When i received the email, it only contained "abcdefgh"
After more testing, it seems it is cutting off 18 characters off the end of what i type. THis only happens with the exchange account. Gmail sends fine.
Any ideas as to why this might be happening? I doubt its kaiser related, however, I never noticed this with my 8525, and i figure someone in here might have seen it, or have some ideas. Thanks.
still noone else has seen this or anything like it?
In the past, i could get rid of this by deleting and re adding the account. However, I just flashed the [Mar 08 08]Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19199 UC RTM and now it happens right off the bat.
I am able to workaround the issue where it cuts off text by padding my signature with extra spaces. However it is annoying because every sent message from my outlook exchange account on my mobile device has that "FRONT-END-HTTPS: on" stuck in it. THis appears now whether or not i use a signature.
Anyone have any thoughts?
below is an example of how it looks:
Sincerely,
FRONT-END-HTTPS: on

Would that be more a problem with the Exchange Server your using?

Thats likely part of the problem. But the fact still remains, prior to having a kaiser, this issue never showed up. I was also able to get rid of the issue on past roms.
THis makes me think there is some setting on the phone that might change this. I am hoping someone else out there has seen this.

I am not sure if that is what is going on.. I simply logged into MSN Messenger and Yahoo using OZ Messenger via the ATT Stock ROM. I have been receiving the messages ever since (about 200 hundred of them - at least I have the unlimited text message plan). The message is generally either WVCI 1.1 333 (sent from 1111470600) or WVCI 1.1 444 (sent from 1111470400). I will attempt to find out more about what is happening.. Stay Tuned..

im also getting a weird sms message with every im login. I have a tytn 2 with the stock htc rom. it sent them to me when I was trying to get a oz program working and all the time now as im using mundu.
Ok.. To resolve this issue or actually workaround the issue, change for password for your MSN Messenger, AOL Messenger and or Yahoo Messenger accounts. Apparently once you login with your password, the OZ Network stores the password. The text messages we have been receiving are sent everytime someone on our contact lists signs into either of the 3 IM services. OZ needs to address this issue but OZ does not communicate directly with end-users therefore AT&T needs to help resolve the issue.
Anyway, change your passwords (once I learned about the contact list, changing the passwords made since so I attempted and verified) and you will get NO more text messages from OZ. In the meantime, the only solution is NOT to use OZ.

This is a well known and documented issue with OZ Messenger with the tilt, and 8525 before it. Search the Hermes/8525 forum for the detailed explanation of what's happening and how to stop it, and how to prevent it from happening again.
The above mentioned workaround in the last post sort of works. But basically, log into the OZ Messenger again, and log out properly. The messages happen when you close OZ IM WITHOUT properly logging out first. ANother way to stop the messages is log into IM on another PC. This is force your phone connnection closed. THe SMS messages are basically a "ping" SMS from OZ IM's servers since it uses SMS messages. Ultimately, I recommend you NOT use OZ IM and use another IM program.

I agree on not using the program again.. Unforunately logging in on the PC does not work. .. And yes, I close the app without logging out.. What a crappy bug to have.. Thanks for the additional info..
What program can we use?
i really liked that one.
I am using the built in email app to connect to my Exchange server and I have my phone with me at work like most people.
What I experience is a message will come in to my mailbox, instantly I get the notification in both Outlook and the N1. I will read the message in Outlook, decide to keep it (mark it as unread)/delete it (move it to deleted items) and the N1 will keep notifying me via Trackball glow that I have an unread message even though I've read it.
If I read or delete a message on the N1 it is always pushed back to the Exchange server (and consequently Outlook) immediately.
Anyone else experience this? It is okay when I am not near Outlook, but when I'm in the office it is very annoying to be alerted about messages that I've already read or deleted.
This type of behavior is not happening on my iPhone 3GS when I had it connected and this type of behavior does not happen for my GMail account on the N1.
I actually believe the update to a message from read to unread may actually get pushed to the device they just don't clear the notification. I can confirm this by going in to the mail app and I noticed all the changes I've made are up to date.
The issue seems to be that the notifications won't auto-clear on the N1 once the changes have already been pushed to the phone. This really sucks
Can anyone confirm my findings? Thanks
I can also confirm this. The notification has to be cleared manually. Once the notification is there it's there until you acknowledge it.
Froyo, Desire, they all do that. Notification doesn't clear automatically apparently. Would be nice if it did. Once a check of unread/read is done, just clear the alerts once open/moved etc..

Google Mail notifications will clear automatically so it is definitely something they left out inadvertently. I hope they can fix it soon.
I switched back to my iPhone for the time being because of this. Does anyone know if there have been any attempts to fix this issue in 2.3?
Thanks.
So I receive a text, click on the notification and read the message, then I type a response and press send, now the fun part- it sends to someone else. Not every time but enough to make me not use the app. Phone is stock, using stock messaging app. This isn't going to cut it. Anyone?
Having 2 contacts with the same name, but different phones?
Having 2 different contacts with several phones, one of them being the same?
Look for those, I believe that it's the root cause of your problem.
I unfortunately wasn't able to verify that. I'm going to reset the phone and see what happens....
This is actually why I stopped using handcent sms, I think it has to do with the way the Android OS reads the contacts.
This is a common issue many people have. But its with the stock messaging app. Handcent fixes this issue, or at least it does not happen with handcent. Google never did figure out this bug.

Thanks I guess that settles it. Good to know Google is working on making the OS prettier instead of making its most basic functions work. I understand android has a list a mile long of issues they need to address but this has to be pretty damn close to the top 5 no?
It has to be disorganized contacts on your end. Duplicate phone numbers, etc. I've never heard of this problem.
Of course I could be full of sh¡#.

Do you have friends with nicknames and friends that use their full name?
Sorry, here's an example: Elizabeth and Liz, or Eddie and Edward. I've noticed that the contacts i have with names like those get combined automatically for some reason and when you try to text one it goes to the wrong person
Now I've rooted, running frg 33 and its still happening. But now I have one conversation in my list, I send a text to that person via the conversation, then I get a "?" In reply from a random contact who has received the text as well as the intended recipient. These contacts have the same area code but completely different names, no nicknames. Is it possible this is a phone issue? I absolutely want to stay with android and ill gladly get a different android phone when I can...but if this is just how google rolls then I have an awful decision to make. Also, I searched and it apparently happens on 3rd party SMS apps. I wonder if it could even be a carrier issue....I don't know the intricacies of texts but this is my 3rd android phone and the first that sends texts to whomever it wants...there a lot of small bugs with android, but this is far and away the most disappointing. Anyone had any luck with this? Maybe there are settings in the **464646** or whatever it is, that could help?
I've noticed that I get a lot of duplicate texts or they are out of sync when coming in and just curious if anyone else is seeing this?
I'm currently on my own ROM but noticed this on full stock as well.

+1 on duplicate texts. Also noticed when I get a reply in the same minute it lists above the original text

Just an AT&T thing, methinks.
I've always had this, even when I was back on the LG Shine.
Same here. What SMS app are you all using? Go SMS here

I usally get duplicates when I'm texting someone using a iPhone, out of sync happens when your having a fast paced text convo , notice it mostly happens texting a blackberry, with that said I don't have the sync issue much anymore but 6 months ago when everyone still had a bb it was out of control

It happened most when it's within same minute but there's plenty of times where it could be 5 minutes between and I'll get duplicate texts that come in. It's pretty annoying. And I'm just using stock messaging app.

I'm on the Rogers network here in Canada and I have noticed that as well. I thought maybe it was just the provider, but it may be a system issue. I'm just using the stock messages app that comes with the ROM. I have chompSMS installed as it sorts the message better than the stock app.
There's no fix for this yet, I've searched already. I think is related to the new pta lte apn since I didn't have the problem before on hspa...
Sent from my HTC Vivid via Tapatalk
I have the same issue, but I've had it since I got the Vivid back in November. I just assumed it was an AT&T network issue, but I never had that problem before with other phones. Hearing that it happens with the Raider in Canada makes me wonder if it's something in the phone itself and the way it pulls messages from the network.
I'm not 100% sure of this (just a hunch) but I'm wondering if it has something to do with the NTP servers that HTC has the device set to sync with to get the time (or the method that it gets the current time from the cell network).
It would appear that the clock is just a few seconds behind everyone else's...
I suppose I'll take a look at it here shortly, since this has been happening to me since day 0 of owning this phone and it's quite annoying...
try using this to assign the correct time for w when the messages come through
http://www.appbrain.com/app/sms-time-fix/com.mattprecious.smsfix
Yeah, Ive noticed the exact same thing. If you get a message in the same minute as the one you sent it puts the new message you received above the one you sent. Ive also noticed duplicate messages from people as well, thought it was just them, but when it was mentioned about the duplicate messages coming from iPhone users, that sounds right. Does anyone see any fixes coming anytime soon? Forgot to mention that im completely stock right now, using the stock SMS app. Haven't unlocked the bootloader, rooted, or put a custom rom on it yet.
try using the link from the above post, let me know if you have any success
This issue has been driving me nuts. Sometimes I get the same text three times in a row. And sometimes every single text I get is duplicated. I have unlimited texts, but it's annoying and it shouldn't happen. I'm using stock ROM and stock messaging app and I seriously doubt any other app will resolve this. It's either something specific to Sense, or it's the LTE.
Either way, I wish they would fix it. If I didn't like the phone so much, I would have taken it back over this.

If you simply follow the link, you will see that it is a timing correction app. Not an alternate messaging app.
All "messaging" app's on android utilize the same central database for text message storage, this app runs in the background and detects incomming messages, it then corrects the time on the message as it comes in to reflect the local time on the device, therefor correcting time sync issues. It is a common problem for many mobile devices and there are many apps that resolve the same issue.
This has happened on a large number of devices for a very long time. The root cause is often the time servers in use by either the sending or recieving ISP. The problem can be intermittant as often service providers utilize multiple servers operating in tandem, this same tandem issue can also cause the mutlple messages.
Please take my advice and try the app & hit the thanks button if it helps you

Ive been using the app for a little while now, and it seems to have fixed the problem. All my messages have been in the correct order so far. Is this app supposed to fix the duplicate text problem too or just the issue with the time stamp? I havent gotten any duplicate text since I started using it, but I wasnt sure if it was because of the app or if Ive just been lucky.
I have been having the same problem as this as well. It's super annoying, especially since I tend to have fast paced conversations, so my texts are always out of order. And every time I get a duplicate text message, my phone vibrates or rings again, which is really irritating since there isn't actually a new message.
I noticed this happened on the stock messaging app, and a while ago I switched to Go SMS. I didn't seem to have nearly as many problems with texts being out of order or receiving duplicate texts. In fact, it seemed to go away almost completely with Go SMS. But while using Go SMS, my friends told me that about every 3 text messages, they would receive the same text from me anywhere from 2 to 6 times. That was ridiculous! I loved Go SMS, but I had to switch back to stock because of the repeated text sending, even though now I have to deal with the duplicates on my end.

I beleive that it identifies incomming messages and drops the text if it is a duplicate, but you would need to contact the developer, I'm just a google search user
Hi All,
just wondering if any one else is having issues with the stock email app?
i have it set up with my work email via activesync and for some reason it goes from html to plain text, this seems to be happening atleast once a day which is a little strange.
is anyone else having similar issues?
might not help but I used to have that problem on another phone years ago... Turned out it was a setting on our exchange server that was fixed when company upgraded versions.

I'm having the same issue. I select HTML and it seems to stick at first. But when I receive emails they're always in plain text. When I go back into the settings I find that it has reverted back to plain text. It's getting pretty annoying.

yeah it is annoying the help out of me, I know it is not a setting on the exchange server so I am not sure why it is doing it.
Hopefully someone has a fix or HTC fix it soon
I'm having the same issue. No clue how to resolve it. Drives me nuts. Stock Android's Email client has evolved to the point where I'm considering ditching Sense 5 until this is resolved as HTML-formatted work emails are a big part of my smartphone usage.
I've found also that when you do switch it to HTML, it doesn't suddenly render already-downloaded apps in HTML format. They stay plain text. Irritating to say the least.

Are we sure its a server side setting? If we knew the exact setting this might help.
Maybe we can hack the mail APK to ignore the setting. I am annoyed enough to try it myself.
I don't know the specifics but for us it was corrected as part of an upgrade to a newer version of exchange. Once they upgraded it the html setting stuck without any other changes on the phone.
