I tried to unlock my wizard yesterday, but no success. I tried lokiwiz02b and awizard-v1_2, but it did not work. Any experience?
If you follow Faria's instructions regarding SOLUTION FOUND -CID/sim UNLOCKING FOR WIZARD WITH AKU2 ROMS. you should have no problems. Disregard the notice about it not working with 2.21 or above because it does!
First though, make SURE that you don't have a G4 because you WILL brick your phone if you do this.....

i've read a lot of threads on this forum and posted here and there but haven't got the answers I need to start messing with my phone.
could someone please help me out and give some advice?
I have a CID & SIM locked Dutch MDA Vario G3 with IPL/SPL at 2.21
I would really like to upgrade my ROM for getting rid of the tmobile stuff AND speed it up.
I'd like to know the following:
1) Can I upgrade a locked DUTCH vario to the Official tmobile 2.26 USA software without hacking or is this prevented as well?
2) I read stories about CID unlocking a G3 2.21 being possible AND being Impossible ..... which is it?
3) Can I downgrade my phone SAFELY to the custom ROM on this forum, I read about success stories but not for everyone .... what makes it work sometimes and does it matter that it will downgrade the IPL but NOT the SPL?
4) Can I or can I NOT just flash a G4 ROM over my G3 phone and leave the locked IPL/SPL as it is?
5) is there a disadvantage to NOT unlocking it and just flash a G4 ROM? what would I be missing out on? can I upgrade to 2.26 official and then flash a G4 ROM and have the same end result?
please help me out on this, I am ready to flash my phone but would not like to brick it since it is just a month old.

i trie craptree's guide, and I can read back all relevant data from my locked vario, at 2.21 I just can't write it back, so that's a nogo either.
any advice? G4 ROM or downgrade?
I have tried to upgrade my G4 Wizard (MDA T-Mobile) with the WM6 (TNT) ROM.
I had a first ERROR 300 problem solved using the exe ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe
I have finally updated successfully the device, but when it restarts the old T-Mobile MDA ROM reinstalls itself!!!
The result is not a ROM update, is more kind of hardreset!!!
Any idea?!!!
What's happening is that your device is not CID unlocked, I'm not a G4 owner so I'm not sure how it's done, but you'll have to use a tool called 'shelltool' I believe. You can probaly get detailed instructions from the G4 forum stickies.

I bought a bricked mda vario which still gets into the bootloader. I read the tutorials but they dont really state what software I need.
I see that I need PDAphone Rom Update Utility 2.00.0, I need the rom's.
The rom I've already downloaded from here. But where do I get RUU?
And my mda says it has IPL/SPL3.08, So I think that my mda is a G3
Could someoune tell me what software I need and if I really have a G3
I assume your device is not CID unlocked, what you need now is original MDA ROM. Flash with that ROM and you will get a working Wizard.
I had unlocked cid and sim using lokiwid0.2, and I had already flashed a wm6 rom. Now I want to flash a new rom(only OS), do i need to unlock again before flashing a wm6?
My cellphone is MDA Vario , G3, ipl/spl is 2.26.
