Hi Guys,
I've used the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) before on the AT&T 8525 with Schapp's WM6 ROM. I am trying to do it on my Mac using my AT&T Tilt running HTC stock ROM. It shows that the connection works, paired, and is "connected" on my TILT via Bluetooth, but when I try opening a webpage on my Mac, the browser isn't connected to the net.
Is anyone else having the same problem or can offer a fix?
By the way, running OS 10.4.10 and am on an Intel processor.
In "Systems Settings/Network" you got to arrange the different inteface in right order, with "the most wanted" highest on list. I have my bluetooth PAN above Ethernet and Airport. I'm on a MBP 2.4 and Leopard, and for me it works absolutly great!!!

Thanks so much!!! That works. I moved the BT and BT PAN up above ethernet and airport like you said and it works like a beautiful charm!
You might also want to consider sharing your internet connection via WiFi instead. It's much faster.
There is a thread floating around here somewhere with an all-in-one wifi router program that will do this without you having to perform the registry tweaks.
edit: and it works great on my mac
Is sharing the internet over WiFi a bigger battery drain than the USB ICS?
Sharing Internet over wifi = More battery drain on Pocket PC
Sharing Internet over USB = More battery drain of Laptop PC as your phone will also be charged by this time.

Carty..

has anyone tried internet connection sharing via HSPDA to a PC using activesync or bluetooth yet? any issues?
I use USB/ActiveSync and it works fine.
Just follow the manual. I followed it and got no problem.
One thing though, in the manual, it said "execute 3gnetopt.exe in the PC to optimize it for 3G connection".
It seems, after that it changed the routing automatically and can slow down your internet connection when not using the ICC via PDA.
Well, that's easy, just disable the "additional" network interface in the PC.
i could get the usb internet sharing to work but bluetooth internet sharing doesnt work. my pc is able to detect a local bluetooth pan network without internet access. anyone got their bluetooth/internet to work?
I have internet sharing working via bluetooth on a tablet and laptop (both running XP). First I tried DUN and it worked which suprised me. Then I set up a PAN connection and got Internet sharing running. After that DUN will no longer work, it looks like it trys but then fails. But Internet Sharing is faster and works fine over bluetooth.
It can be tedious at first, you need to create a BT PAN Connection on the PC, you need to create a BT partnership with the Kaiser in your Bluetooth manager on the PC. You need to set the Kaiser's Internet sharing to "Bluetooth PAN" and have the Network connection set to go to your ISP's GPRS internet AP.
Once I have PAN setup on the PC, it's showing "Network Cable Unplugged"
I then Start the Kaiser's Internet Sharing and press connect, it starts a GPRS connection.
I then open the Bluetooth Manager on the PC, select the Kaiser's Connection Icon, right click and select connect.
Then the two devices connect and I'm off and running.
With 3G I have been able to answer calls and talk on my Jawbone BT headset while still connected to the PC via BT as well, pretty much MAGIC
bluetooth still cant work with those instructions, i'll just stick to USB for now.
how do I ensure that HSPDA is working and its not just 3G?
My 3G icon changes to H when it connects hi-Speed. I'm wondering what Bluetooth Stack your PC has, I had issues with my tablet and Hermes until I got new BT Drivers from Fujitsu support. Your PC may need updated BT profiles? My laptop is Dell (uses a Toshiba BT Stack), the tablet is Fujitsu (also Toshiba BT Stack). Just a thought.
On the Plus side, using a USB cable will keep the phone charged, which is good because HSPDA is a power hog anyway.
i'm using a bluetooth dongle with my PC running vista
Both USB and BT ICS work great for me. I've used it on Edge, 3G, and HSDPA.

Internet sharing only working on 2G and not 3G
I am connected right now via internet sharing using my USB cable. However, this is working only if I have a 2G signal showing on my tytnII. When I am in a 3G location, the internet sharing program sits with the message "waiting for network"....this is just after the message "checking USB cable".
I have tried many things including a hard-reset, not having a full sync relationship between the PC, just connected etc. All to no avail.
I am using a new Dell laptop running Vista Ultimate.
Unlike previous PDAs I've had, I don't know a way to force the tytn II to stay on 2G, so when I am at work in a 3G environment, I cannot get internet sharing to work.
Help!
I was thinking of using my kaiser to connect my pc to a wireless network,
I have a wireless router in my house but i dont have a wire that goes to my room, so i want to connect my Kaiser via usb to the computer and the Kaiser to the wireles router via WIFI so i can use the internet in my room in my computer.
Is it Possible?
I have a wireless modem option on my dutty 6 hybrid rom. I would think that that option could be tweeked to add an option to use wifi instead of cellular and then you would be able to recieve over b.tooth and wouldnt need a cable either. I would donate and then ask one of the devlopers very nicely if they knew of or could write a tweek for me. But thats just what my plan of attack wood be
It is possible and there is a reg hack that allows wifi sharing over ICS - but sticking a wifi usb dongle in the pc would be a lot easier.
As a second thought, it dawned on me that i hacked a linksys wrt54gs and changed the flash/os to dd-wrt`s 3rd party software
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_Bridge
By switching to dd-wrt i then had an option to make the AP a wireless bridge and thats how i connect my slingbox to my network. I would recommend that anyone with a linksys router re-flash to this 3rd party software which enables TONS of features to this device. Hope this helps. PEACE!!
These might help you.

holy crap !
the jongma thing works perfectly with dutty's rom.
im amazed, my computer is connected to the internet via wifi signal that my phone is broadcasting. thats incredible.
on 3g its fffffffffffast!
Is there any way to use wifi instead of 3G etc? I have a Wii here at school with wireless. It wont connect to the schools wireless network because of the routers used. Im thinking if I could use the Kaiser to brodcast wifi and connect the Wii that way then maybe it would work? Any thoughts?
Hi
My connection to internet through my diamond (internet connection over USB or bluetooth) is very unstable. The program show that it is connected and my computer gets an ip-adress from the phone, but I don't reach the internet (my phone answers to ping(default gateway))
The connection profile I'm using works (i use it to sync with Exchange) and one out of 10 times it works with my computer too
Anyone have similar problems?
Best regards
Andreassg
i have the same problem!
hey - i have the same problem - im trying on my mac (10.5.5), the computer connects to the phone fine and gets an IP address, but no data gets through to the net - strange though it works find using dialup bluetooth, just not using the internet sharing app and bluetooth lan connection. It has to be a windows mobile issue. Strange thing is though - and this is where things go strange, it works fine with the widcomm BT stack on an XP machine.
just my thoughts

Is it possible to use the Kaiser as wlan-router? I got a cablemodem for my computer. Now when I connect Kaiser via USB I can use the connection.
Can I share this connection via wifi of the Kaiser? (wifi is not available when connected to usb!)
Look for WMWIFIROUTER
Thanks a lot, thats it!
I heard of the prog brefore, but didnĀ“t that it has so many features.
I purchased Walking Wifi Hotspot. Works good and has all the features that you could need.
Jim
So those allow you to use your phone as a wireless bridge with your PC? I thought it only used the cell data connection.
I have recently started using my diamond a a modem to connect to my netbook to the net via usb. When using the standard ICS utility on the phone and having a HSDPA connection, internet pages would load really slowly and would timeout but when I installed the WMwifirouter and started using it I had no problems with the connection speed.
Anyone know why the WMwifirouter has a better connection???
Anyone know how to improve the ICS so its the same as WMwifirouter??
Thanks in advance

This is just my take.
ICS scenario:
3G network> phone > USB > PC
WMwifirouter scenario:
3G network> phone > Wifi > PC
For both protocols the three of the four are the same. The only difference is that Wifi connection to PC is a lot faster than USB connection to PC.
So, to answer your question, ICS CANNOT be FIXED, to be as fast as WMwifirouter.
Cheers
Both ICS and WMwifirouter are connected through USB so I dont understand why one is quicker than the other. Something is definetly up with my ICS program.

WMWIFIRouter doesn't use usb. It broadcasts your internet like a wireless router. Your netbook probably just had wlan turned on and automatically connected while you thought it was using the usb.

NO. Wmwifi router does not use USB. Disconnect it and you will see.
Cheers
I am using the latest version of WMwifirouter and it has 3 options on how to connect external devices: wifi, bluetooth and USB. I am using the USB option to connect my diamond to my netbook. I'm sure the wifi on my diamond is turned off when I have connected.
ICS app seems to be working fine now. Not sure if by installing the WMwifi router it changed some of the settings.
Also there is now a free app for Wifi router by HTC. See the coolsmartphone website for details.
I use my phone for connecting to internet all the time, and the problems i had with nokia e51 were the main reason i switched to touch diamond. I recommend usb connection because creating and broadcasting wifi signal drains your battery drastically and it also makes your phone generate ALOT of heat. At least thats how it was with nokia where i used joikuspot (usb and bluetooth kept disconnecting) it was pain in the ass.
so USB > WiFi for longterm use
