Transferring contacts directly between handsets - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I've just got my brand new Kaiser today (T-Mobile UK flavour), now I have quite a problem. My old Wizard at the end of 2 years has stopped syncing with computers, I've tried with 4 different machines, no luck.
Is there any way to transfer directly between the two handsets at all? Although I have a copy of my contacts in Outlook its quite out of date and I'd prefer to do this directly.
Can anyone help?

You could use backup software like PIM Backup, to save the contacts to a memory card, and then restore it on the other side.
In terms of installing it, you could transfer the cab using a working PPC/card reader and then install off that.

You should be able to use bluetooth to beam the contacts.
Might have to do one by one though.

Don't know about the prophet, but with the Kaiser you can send individual contacts as messages. Probably better to save the contacts to SIM, and then place the SIM into the Kaiser, and copy them to contacts.

If you use the SIM, don't you lose a great deal of info from the contacts? Like street or e-mail addresses.

Read http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde... other WM devices WITHOUT Outlook or Exchange for a COMPLETE tutorial.
(And DO SEARCH the Wiki before asking questions - most of the forum questions have already been answered there!)

Thanks one and all, feel a bit stupid now having searched the forums and not found what I was after I should have searched the wiki as well!

Switching back to Symbian: How to backup SMS?

Ok, so I'm switching back to Symbian and my Nokia E61i. I would love to keep the TyTN II, but the device was just not the right choice for me.
All my contacts, e-mails, calendar/todo's etc. are stored on my Exchange server, so that's a no-brainer - however, I would llike to copy my SMS inbox over to my Symbian device. I've been doing some searching but I cannot seem to find a solution for this.
So basically what I'm looking for is an app that will let me copy the whole SMS inbox and move it over so that I can import it on my E61i.
Thanks!
Make backup to your Outlook using trial version of Jeyo Mobile Extender - http://www.jeyo.com/companion.asp.
I don`t know how to transfer SMS directly to Symbian phone...
Thanks RStein, that worked. So now I have the complete inbox in Outlook, but I suppose I need to export them as .vmg or something like that in order to transfer them to my Symbian device... Any ideas? Thanks!
I think You have now Symbian specific question - try some Symbian forum for probably better answers to Your question.
You can always copy SMS to your SIM using Kaiser.
How many SMS will the Kaiser allow me to mover over to the SIM?
It depends on SIM capacity - my SIM has only 10 slots for SMS messages...

The only way I know of is to delete the duplicates one at a time from one device (easier to do this on the PC) and then re-sync. Hope you don't have too many.
UGH, thx man!
Take a look at this free apps: http://www.vaita.com/ODIR.asp
sktools has an option of deleting all the duplicate contacts
Found a nice one over at Coolsmartphone forum...

the ODIR works perfectly for me, as already recommended by jack leung:

silly & stupid M$ and its products: WM - activesync - outlook
you will not got this stupid behavior by using Nokia PC Suite, and in addition you'll get more complete and powerful settings
(how many settings you can change in activesync?)
Duplicate Remover
Have a look at Clone Remover, it is utility to find duplicate files, mails, folders and to remove duplicate files on Windows and Vista. This program is free. duplicate outlook
Duplicate File Finder
Try this freeware Fast Duplicate File Finder by MindGems inc.
This software worked for me - dublicatefilesdeleter.com
Many users are reporting they then get duplicate contacts and I'm one of them. I've been using this Mac outlook and encountered same problem. A total headache as I have hundreds even thousand of contacts duplicated.,.you can imagine how frustrating it was. This deal breaker for me. Until I found Scrubly Duplicate Remover.I really need this for life. This is also been used by my friends and family. I'm very thankful of having this tool. I think you should also try this. Hope it helps

I need a software..

Since I got my kaiser I always saved all my contacts as outlook. Lately I find myself using/testing different phones that are not necesarry WM. Is there a way to copy all your contacts phones on the sim card? Or some kind of interface between different softwares out there Nokia/Sony/Apple?
Thnx
just gonna say, this site is for WM users, specifically HTC device users. now as far as software that allows you to easily transfer contacts from phone to phone, your sim card, you need nothing else just keep all contacts on your SIM and you have your contacts on any phone you use
Thanks and I do appreciate your answer. I am aware xda site caters to WM devices. However I know some ppl here have more than one device and I did hope they know about some kind of soft.
Is there an easy way of transfering outlook contacts onto the sim card?
sim manager can copy all contacts to sim. Depending on the rom, sim manager should be in programs folder. hit menu -> contacts to sim.
if its a windows mobile to windows mobile contact transfer, a simple PIM backup, would do the job. (do a backup on contacts, logs, whatever you want and put that file onto the other wm device)
good luck!
thanks... that did the trick. I do feel stupid sometimes and this is one of those times.
Don't feel that way. I understand your question, and copying to SIM card does not solve your problem if you got more than 200 contacts right? Mine has 900 contacts with mobile phones, work phones, home phones, emails, etc, hence why I used WM device. It's getting overwhelming to manage if I use standard phone.

1st of all, you need a PC with MS Outlook installed.
Synchronize your WM device to PC's MS Outlook (don't ask me how to do this, okay). Then if you have Nokia, you have to install Nokia PC Suite, the latest version if possible (try search nokia website). After that, you sync your Nokia to your PC (using the USB data cable, if you don't have any, find one) also to MS Outlook. So you kind of making MS Outlook as your central repository.
With this I believe you can sync to any phone, provided that the phone has ability to do syncing, has the USB data cable, and has the sync software that can do sync to MS Outlook. That's all the prerequisites, AFAIK. And I can tell you that most synch-er apps is at least compatible with MS Outlook.
It's different story if you use something else, such as: Lotus Notes or whatnots. Then it will be very difficult.
There, hope it helps.

Sync/Import .wab address book to Diamond?

I have just received my XDA Ignito from O2, I have my old SonyEriksson phone address book saved as a .wab file and want to sync this with the Ignito/Diamond.
It does come bundled with a 'trial' version of Outlook but I don't really see the point in using it if it's just a trial that will run out. Plus I don't want to install Outlook just to sync my contacts!
Are there any free progs out there I can use to do this?
My old SE and Motorola phones came bundled with software that would do everything!
Thanks in advance!
Dave
I have Outlook installed on my machine... and I hate it, always have always will! I only need it for sync'ing my contacts. When I had my wizard way back (in technology terms anyway), the answer I kept getting was NO you can't sync with anything else.
The problem I am having with my contacts (and I have yet to find an answer for it) is that the Diamond/Ignito shows both my sim contacts and the phone contacts. The two lists are the same so when I go into 'all people' everyone is listed twice!
Any ideas anyone?
Matt
I'm till struggling with this. All I find is annoying 'trial' editions of programs that calim various things. When I left Outlook Express behind I assumed I was doing the right thing exporting to a wab file to back it up!
I've even installed OutlookXP now from an old office CD, but it can't import WAB files!! Can the version on the bundled CD?
There must be another way of getting a wab address book onto the Diamond?

Contacts not syncing on Tytn II

Hi folks,
I've recently noticed that my contacts are no longer syncing from my PC > mobile. I've noticed this because I've recently added two new contacts, and couldn't find them when I wanted to call them!
To give more info, my environment is: -
O/S: Vista, SP1
ROM: Stock T-Mobile Vario III, WM6
Office: 2007, using Outlook 2007
Additional notes: -
- sync up with 2 computers, but contacts only sync with the home one (calendar + tasks on both).
- Recently acquired a SE W880i of my brother for weekends, which syncs up with Outlook as well, via a SE program.
I've searched for an answer, and the only one that sounds reasonable is maybe the photo is too big, but the other contact doesn't have a pic, so most likely not the problem.
Many thanks in advance for the help! ^^
.... I take it take it's not a common problem, then?
OK, I've figured out a workaround, in case anyone else has this problem.
what I did on the PC was copy the details onto notepad, then delete the contact. My PPC then synced (as it was cradled), and made another copy of it out of spite! I then deleted the new contact, and it was deleted on both.
After this, I made a new contact and filled in the details again, pic and all, and it synced up all nice again! the other contacts also played nice, so all's good.
Note: I didn't have a problem with tasks nor calendar throughout, so Idon't know if it affected anything (most likely not in my case).
Hope that'll help anyone who had the same prob.
Thanks for sharing it with us.I also had the same problem...
