Tilt programs disappearing and/or not responding! - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have an ATT Tilt and it's been working great. I did a backup using the sprite backup. Now, I am not sure that had anything to do with it but my email shortcuts on my today screen disappeared and my text messaging will no longer work. When I open my start programs folder, they are both gone, I seem to have magically lost my text messaging icon and my messaging icon. I still have the htc plug in on my today screen but when I click on my text messenger icon it highlights the icon but never loads, just sits there. I cannot access my gmail or my road runner email; hell, I can't even find them anywhere on the device. Does anyone know what the heck is going on? I have searched high and low for any info and have found nada. I was thinking that maybe ATT or HTC would provide a listing of software on the rom and the file names so I could maybe try "re-installing" but again, screwed. nothing out there. I have used resco explorer and searched every inch of the tilt phone but without a listing of software and the associated filename it's freaking ridiculous. Please, if anyone has any info, no matter how small, please post; I will post a detailed fix if one is ever found.
Many Thanks,
Jasper

I have exactly the same problem . I have also run Sprite Backup but I dont think it coincided with losing messaging.
I removed some programs just before the problem but I cant remember what I removed as I was just having a tidy up.
I think I'm going to do a hard reset which should restore the messaging. Please let me know if you solved problem.

OK, this is freaky. I was just going to start this same thread.
I lost my entire messaging application last week. I think it happened after I uninstalled a bunch of apps, mostly spb apps. I tried a Sprite restore to no avail. I had to do a hard reset to get messaging back.

Just happened to me today
Along with my text messaging I also had three e-mail accounts and one e-mail sync account (to outlook). Since I can no longer get into the program, I cannot access any of the data on this device. I am running Windows Mobile 6.1 in case that helps someone come up with a solution. I will probably do a backup on my PC as well as a sprite backup and then reload the whole OS I think AT&T has a link on one of their sites to the ROM.

Sluggish Messaging app etc, please help?

I've got the ATT Tilt running the original Kaiser ROM. There are a few (small) frustrations I'd like some advice on.
Currently, I'm running FlexMail full time, and PocketCM for a contact manager. These apps are rarely stopped. I have a feeling that FlexMail, PocketCM and the internal Messaging app are conflicting. Every time I receive a notification it comes immediately (tested with friends), but when I try to open a text in any of the three apps, there is a delay of a good 10+ seconds; if I try to compose a new SMS or reply to one, in any of the programs, the phone seems to freeze entirely for sometimes up to three full minutes; even after that, text entry via any method is very slow to respond.
I soft reset my device about every night, just to make sure it's running as quickly as it can. I find that the Messaging problem is persistent even immediately after a reset. My preference would be the have PocketCM quit trying to deal with SMS at all (every time I receive one, it switches to my contact list, and I hate that), and to use FlexMail to deal with SMS (but only if I can figure out how to deal with MMS as well in that app, otherwise the internal messaging is fine).
Also, recently when resetting I get the error immediatly after the HTC Home screen launches: "The file '' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file." I have no idea what this belongs to!
Other information that might be useful - I've added the HTC Phone Pad to the device; I tried Pocket Informant and removed it, and am currently running SPB Pocket (which I will also probably remove). I've installed a number of other packages which I decided I don't need and removed, having kept just a couple emulators, PocketPuTTY, and Opera Mini (latest beta).
Sorry for the long post, but I LOVE this phone - it just sucks when you can't text quickly, my LG VX6000 was better at it *snicker*.. gotta make this thing zippier!

No Messaging - Help Required

Has anyone had this problem MDA Vario III?
I cannot access any of my messaging services, not even read previous messages that are in my email and sms/mms inbox's. My friend sent me a text and although it has gone through at his end it hasn't shown up on my phone.
I have taken the phone back to factory settings, removed pocketcm and at least can now access my contacts (pocketcm would open and then close within a few seconds).
For me this is my worst case scenario as the messaging module is more important to me than the phone.
Anyone got and suggestions how to sort this
Oh Well, No Joy So Hard Reset
Problem solved...
Now have to reinstall all my stuff fortunately I keep all the cabs on the Storage card with the folder name CABS, re-sync and it will be back to new. Would be useful to know if anyone else has had the same problem though

Text messaging and email won't open..

I have a Tilt on Dutty's DualTouch v3 rom. everything has been running fine until a few days ago when I noticed that my Messaging services was unable to open and receive messages. i have clicked Messaging from the Start menu and even through the Today screen icons, yet nothing opens. All I see is the box with the circles loading and then nothing happens. I have had a bunch of people ask me if i received their texts and it seems that not only can i not open Messaging, but i am not getting any text messages or any email from my Gmail account that is synced up with Messaging. Can someone please offer me advise on how to fix this? i would prefer a fix that didn't involve installing another rom. thank you for your help.
No ROM, but no email either
Not an answer to your problem, but I'm having the same issue running on the factory ROM on my Tilt. I haven't installed anything new lately to account for the happening. The most recent install was Opera Mobile, but a quick uninstall yielded no improvements with Messaging.
I'm pretty much to the point of wiping the slate and starting over. Anyone else with this issue?

Whats your provider? Alot of AT&T people have been having issues recently with the data/messaging plan do you have another phone you can plug your sim card into and test?
Problem solved
Provider is AT&T, but I actually found another thread further down my search list:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350862
I actually had two directories that started with 'Inbox.mst2....' and I copied them to my computer before deleting. The first of the two deleted just fine, but the other wouldn't budge until I went in through the File Manager on the phone itself. Luckily enough, I didn't lose any of my messages or emails with all of this.
It could very well be linked to Xpressmail, but that's strictly a guess.

Completly Wiping SMS -> Phone Restart -> SMS returns

Hi everyone, i hope this hasnt been resovled before, but i did a few searches and came up blank.
Ive had my TyTn II for quite a while now, and managed to rock up 48000 SMS on it, which stuffed up the memory, making me do a hard reset. But now i have a different problem.
I tried to delete all my SMS, which was about 14000, as i didnt want a repeat of what happened last time, but after a long tiime the SMS appeared to delete, so i did a soft reset, and about 6900 SMS remain, all in sent items. i tried again, and the same thing occoured. also once after resetting the SMSes that i sent/recieved the past day dissapeared.
Has anyone expierenced a problem like this? i think its a corrupt SMS in the Data files somewhere, but i really dont want to fish out a particular one, or hard reset my phone again.
And FYI im running the stock 6.1 TyTn II AUS ROM (Rom version 3.29.710 WWE)
Thankyou for your help
not completely sure whats going on but i have a suggestion worth trying out...
assuming your requirement is to keep a clean house with a minimum number of text items in your inbox and sent items, i imagine you would like to archive those messages (as opposed to simply deleting them) as a bonus.
search for "pimbackup" here on xda and download it and install it to your device. pimbackup has two kinds of backup operations:
1. backup and keep existing items
2. backup and REMOVE the backed up items
try option 2...this way, you will have an archive of all those text messages and you can let pimbackup handle the mass delete operation...who knows, maybe it will "stick" better than a manual mass deletion.
good luck!
i thought when u delete messages it just goes to the deleted folder not really off the phone go to that folder in messaging and delete them from there or from the pc.
Yes, but the default limit for deleted items is 50 messages. then it starts rolling them off and deleting...

Microsoft My Phone - SMS restore problem for Xperia!

So I decided to try flash another ROM, and this time I thought I'd try backing up my personal data using the Microsoft My Phone service, just to see how it works. As well as that, I made a complete backup of my phone using SPB backup.
The ROM flashing over, I attempted to restore my old sms messages to the phone from the server, and the My Phone application DID appear to download them. However, upon checking my inbox (as well as every single other mail folder), I found nothing. Delving a little deeper, I was able to find a couple of pre-ROM-flashing messages using the phone's built-in search function; when installing My Phone, I let microsoft text me the link, and a search for 'my phone' illicited the old text message. However, the search function does not allow for me to trace messages back to their location, and this message (even after being opened) did not appear in the sms inbox.
I haven't lost anything because of my other backup, but if possible I would like to find all of these loose messages floating about somewhere in the memory banks of my Xperia. It would be nice if Microsoft got it half right, like normal. Does anybody have an idea where to start?
