Photo Dialer - Today Plug-in

Here's the PhotoDialer today plug-in that you may have seen on the Treo700w, works great on 8125/8100, enjoy.

This is awesome! I have been waiting for someone to get this out to us.
I noticed a few things that users should probably note:
1. When setting up any of the speed dial numbers, the Advanced tab options for [ ]Dial extra digits and [ ]Show Recorder Buttons DO NOT WORK. It is a shame that the voivemail recorder buttons won't appear on the today screen. That would be great for one handed phone. But I guess this plug-in works with the hard wires today screen dialing system of the 700w.
2. The quick connect numbers assigned do not work - even if using in landscape and pressing the keyboard buttons.
3. Any number dialed will go through but it will not pop you to th dialing application. So if you are planning to dial you voice mail or other system that needs digit input, you are best to use the dialer that is native to the wizard.
It is a shame that we can't figure otu a way to take the speed dialing app that HTC built into the dialing screen and get it into the today screen. I love the way it finds contacts quickly when I dial. But I suspect it would not be all that helpful with our devices because of the lack of keyboard.

where do i get the dialer cab from? its not there..

shouldnt it be possible to make a registry entry that would enablke the dialer app to appear after pressing one of the picture/shortcuts?

Sweet is all I can say! This along with the SearchToday (also from the TREO 700) is mighty fine. No it's not perfect but it is sweet!

Yes I agree with you
Some things to know :
- you have the choice between Text Speed Dial and Photo Speed Dial
- You can post only one line of photo in the Picture Speed Dial
- After 5 photos a button appears for scrolling (fast scrolling with the D-Pad)

I like this plugin.... Runs great on 8125.. Now, what is that profile changing program shown in the screenshot????/????

pmc todayshrink - app for your today

here is perfect app which will remove both soft keys from the today screen - it will makes your today longer + soft buttons are still working (this app is not working for inside menu).
just install, soft reset and enjoy. uninstall for reverting back to original.

transparent title and tasks bar?
I was wondering is a way to use this and have the transparent title and tasks bar like in htc album. I think that will be tight.

On my htc tytn II, the tray bar disappears when I install TodayShrink. Any solution to this problem appreciated.

Yes, my softkey bar was gone, but my today app (Pocketbreeze) did not take up the space (it is set to auto size).
Any ideas as to why that would be?
UPDATE: Got it working. If I added another plug-in (which did use the new space) and then removed it, PocketBreeze expanded to take up the new space. Kinda odd...but I am glad it is now working.

Try renaming the vijaytodayshrink.lnk file in \Windows\StartUp to 1vijaytodayshrink.lnk and do a soft reset. It works for me as it will load the TodayShrink program before the tray itself.

You might ask if vijay555 is the creator.
I'm guessing because of the vijaytodayshrink.lnk that gets added to the startup folder at install.

Is it VJToggleToday II Alpha?
There's a thread on this forum about it.
It was, and always will be, an Alpha release, as I have since internally updated to Version IV.
However, version IV has not been released yet. If version 2 does the job for you, great. However, it was never designed properly for VGA screens and onthe fly correction (eg when rotating), has an issue with the phone on Palm devices, and doesn't deal with the tray properly.
Hopefully all of those issues are fixed in Version IV (except for the Palm thing, which I can't test!)

PS note that there is a -config command line to allow you to change settings.

an "Auto-Hide" feature would be great on this!!..
(just like the windows one! when you auto-hide the bottom bar)

Like I said, that's just wrong for people to try this crap. VJ's work has been around for a long time and works great, i know many people who use it. To the original poster, get some balls and fess up to stealing someone else's work.

In case anyone wondered, YES, it does work great on my Schaps 4.30-equipped Kaiser. Perfect for fat-fingering items in TaskMan!

I had the same problem on first use.
Check this registry key and verify that the value is set to 1
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager]
"EnableLargeIcon"=dword:00000001
After all is OK.

wwe means World Wide English..ITA probably is for Italy and hence Italian language.

it dosent help, after you press advanced tab inside the task manager, it goes back to the previes settings, small icons.

quite true, just went to visit.
Was 0, changed to 1, and buttons got all huge. Hooray!
However, visited the Advanced tab, OK-ed, and they got to 0 (and small) again.
Damn.
Now we have three options:
- avoid visiting the Advanced tab (after all, about the only thing one can change is order of appearance);
- bug the cook(s) so the TaskMan gets updated (and I'm sure they have better things to do);
- or use some MortScript or some other to poll the registry periodically and revert the DWORD value to 1 (n/c).
It's option 1 for me, then.
Or maybe even option 4 if ever I change my mind: fire up Resco Explorer, switch to My Registry, navigate to the path above, change, confirm. Time: maybe 6 seconds. Shorter if path is set as Favourite

I have HTC task manager 2.1 build 34837 on my omnia II I-8000 working but icons are too small. Large icons are enabled in the registry setting above. Anyone else with some assistance getting large icons showing? HTC TaskManager 2.1.33556_1 won't run, btw. Get busy thing then nothing...

It's build in some new ROM's like Artemis Touch 4.02 WM6.1 WWE ROM, 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0) (Full, Lite and Vanilla), SHAP’S ROM but I can't seem to find it seperate as a CAB file. Since the old one isn't working for me I was hoping this one would!

Do you have a screenshot of this in action. I installed it and I havent seen anything different with my start menu. I am using the shipped att tilt rom. Is there some kind of setting i need to activate?

Thanks for sharing! This is a good alternative to the htc enlarge start menu. But how can I turn this on and off? If I press the .exe file under my programs it starts to run but I can't turn it off again or I can't configurate it, there is nothing in settings either???

after instaling the cab file you will get an icon in your program list run it then it works
to stop it you need to restart your device this is the only way i know
if you want to make it start up with windows move the icon from your programs list to startup folder in the windows folder by using any explorer software like resco or total command
it will start up with windows automaticly

This looks good if when it works but...
Shuts down by itself occasionaly, does not work at all times and can not be mapped to start button on wm6.1
It starts fine after soft reset - works for a while and then unexpectedly quits for no specific reason...

This really rocks very well on my hermes with wm6. And basically total stable. Reason for unexpected closing the pogram is when switching to landscape mode (slide out keyboard), i guess this version is not for device which can change to landscape or the one who made the cab deleted the landscape...png file. Does a landscape version exist?

I have this one (unknown version) and it works great in portrait or landscape mode. FWIW, I'm using the ATT 6.1 ROM.

i´m searching for a touchstartmenu.cab wich works in landscape mode. On my Hermes with WM6.0 it closes with an error when I slide out hardwarekeyboard (error: cant open file....no certificate or some components not found....blablabla.......)
HTC-enlargestartmenu.cab (and allother variants out there) are different programs. Seen screenshoot at post #7, then you see wat I´m talking about.

the first is normal Enlarged Start Menu, and second one is Enlarged Menu from Manila2D.
Well, I cant really find the second one right now.

New hotfix somewhat out...

I found this today on htc.com(Date: 2009-05-22):
Hot-fix for resolving TouchFLO the top part of the item descriptions under Communications (WiFi, Bluetooth, phone, data) are slightly cut off.
If you move to the Settings tab in TouchFLO, the top part of the item descriptions under Communications (WiFi, Bluetooth, phone, data) are slightly cut off. If this happens, please download this hotfix to solve the problem.

Yeah, seen it, but never encountered the bug myself. Not sure if I should update.

I actually didn't notice this bug on my Diamond2 until they posted this hotfix. You have to look more closely on the screen to see the slightly cutoff "WiFi, Bluetooth, phone, data" display.

There are SO many bugs in the device, this is the last one I was thinking about. In the last couple of days I was e-mailing HTC's tech-support like a nut. Hopefully they will do something to fix all of them.

That's a picture from my own phone... As you can see it's a small line just at the top of the words WiFi, Bluetooth, Telefoon and Gegevens that's missing.
However, it's very nice that they actually post a hotfix, especially if you can't download it...

Doesn't seem like a terribly awful bug... but nice to see that they're still continuing to update the Topaz!

The fix-file has more than 700 KB ........

in traditional chinese version, this issue is obvious cuz the "letters" in chinese is very complex
