3G = NO CALLS, NO MESSAGES, NO DATA (solved) - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi All,
As few of you, I've had a similar problem as well. When using tytn2 within 3G network coverage it wasn't able to work at all in terms of data connection, calls and text messages. I tried many different things like different simcards in different countries and I could have confirm that it wasn't a network problem at all ! I took the second Kaiser from my friend and tested the same simcards in the same places and at that moment it was confirmed that it was my tytn2 which was physically broken (not from the start, it stopped working about 2 weeks after I bought it).
It was sent to HTC and they replaced the mainboard and it works like a charm now.
PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO TALK TO OPERATORS CLAIM FOR WARRANTY REPAIR !

vario 3 not receiving half the calls, any ideas??

Hi guys,
Tried searching for a similar problem but didn't find anything.
I have had it changed twice now, so it could be a problem with the current software.
I am finding that I am missing most of my calls, and they are going straight through to voicemail, despite having full reception.
This is not happening with the Sim card in any other phone, just with the Vario 3.
This is a T- Mobile UK handset
has anyone had a similar problem? I'm thinking if they are just replacing it again then I may have to try a different handset.
It's very disruptive for work and social purposes when callers are getting straight to voicemail most of the time.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated

Hi, The problem may be with the 3G network, I had a similar problem and was told to change the network settings to standard GPRS settings through the network settings menu on the vario iii.
This did solve the problem of calls not coming through. I changed settings back to 3G a couple of days later and all seemed to be working again.
I think that the problem lies with the 3G network as I was advised by someone I know who works for T-mobile UK that T-mobile are still experimenting with 3G and certain areas may work better than other areas due to problems with the network at certain times.
Were the other phones that you used your sim in on 3g or standard gprs settings?

Thanks for the response.
I have put it on GPRS which seems to have helped.
It's just defeating the purpose of web and walk.
My previous phone was the vario 2 which to my memory worked fine, although I did put the latest radio version etc on it via this site.
They are sending a repair bag for me to post over to them the handset, but I imagine they don't have any updated software to stick on it or radio.

Problem with internet Communication

I have a problem with my kaiser, it started i think 2 weeks ago. I have vodafone (netherlands) with a data connection account (hsdpa). Now is the problem that i can't use umts (3g) or hspda. The only thing i can use is gprs. It looks like the modem or something is broken. But that is a kind of weird because (if i understand correctly) its al the same chip (wifi and so on). When i open internet explorer it begins to connect a gprs, 3g data connection. But it can't connect, than you can see a X by the synchronisation arrows (on the top of the screen). And after a few secconds it comes with a message that with the current settings there can't be a data connection. But if seen other messages as well ( the modem on the other side disconnected the connection) The weird thing is that i tried my sim card in my friends kaiser there it works fine, so it have to be my kaiser.
Ok what i tried:
I have a dutch htc kaiser (not vodafone branded or anything)
I use the latest dutty rom, but i tried the orriginal rom and different roms to see if the problem was the rom or something.
When i let the 3g mode on i can see that the phone finds a 3g connection (to call over umts).
Is there any program or tool or something so i can test the modem?
Or does anyone know a sollution for me, i will be very greatfull!!
Ok i tried a other radio to, maybe this was the problem. But it didn't, at this moment i have the default htc dutch rom (who was on the phone when i got it). I searched the net for the same problems, what i found was that this error could be happening when you have your wifi connection open, but i have wifi disabled. The phone is still receiving a 3G connection, but after a few secconds the 3G icon is gone and the failed synchronisation icon (two arrows with an X) is visible. than you can see that the phone is reconnecting. and then if i want to connect to the internet the same story as above is happening.
When i search internet i couldn't find an tool to test the chip/modem.
Because i have it spl unlocked i can't return it for rma, is it posible to restore the default spl?

unfortunately I have the same problem with my Kaiser. I have an unbranded German version and it worked fine with all bands (GPRS, EDGE, UMTS(3G) and HSDPA) but since two weeks ago its only working with GPRS and EDGE mode. I have to change band-selection from AUTO to GSM in order to make or receive any calls.
I didn't do any ROM flashing, everything remains the same as the device was shipped.
I assume, that something is damaged but I have no idea how it could happen or how I can find out exactly what is causing the problem.
Since there is still warranty I'll return my Kaiser soon.

ok, thanks for your reply. I've allready found another thread for that issue. But im still uncertain if its a bug in my device or a combination of a bug with a provider specific (Tmob Germany) problem or if its only the provider to blame for??

I have a slightly different problem. I don't have 3G in my area but only EDGE. Now the problem is that I cannot get speeds higher than about 80 kbs with EDGE.
Now when I put the same SIM in my Touch I can get speeds upto 200 kbs. So obviously this is not a problem of my service provider but rather something wrong with the device.
I have repeated the trial by swapping SIMs a number of times but with similar results all the time. Really don't know of a solution. Will appreciate any help.

my edge speeds seem to vary more by location...I measure up to 200+kbs but have seen it go much lower too. there is a location where I can still get 3G working and i measured up to 1.7mbs for downloading! At my home location it is sporadic edge only and I can't even always get to speakeasy.com to test it, sometimes the speedtest says its not licensed..switching to wifi and it works. My guess is some needed ports are getting blocked by at&t at times..because sometimes it works. I brought all this up with at&t..they are taking some charges off this month and switched me to a cheaper plan too...so they at least seem to care even if they can't quite fix things yet.

3G not working

I'm having major trouble with my phone and need some help.
I've got a standard Vario III no flashed roms etc..
When I'm on standard GPRS network the phone works fine, calls internet etc..
However whenever it switches to a 3G or H network I cant make or receive calls or use the internet. The funny thing is that when it tries to access the internet it looks like it connects but when you click on the 3G (with the arrows) it says there are no sessions active.

yes.. i have the same problem too
so we must switch the band using gsm to get phone works normally. if we set AUTO it will failed to make call or to receive call.

maybe I have the same problem, I can't make calls, when I make a call it do a sound alert and end the communication.
The line is ok, I was using it with other phone without problems. I spend today 5 hours with the mobile service provider (CLARO ARGENTINA) tech service and they finally say this must be a problem with the pda, not with the service (after testing all possible alternatives)
The phone is almost new! I can connect to EDGE and navigate the internet, H or 3G appear "some times" but it get EDGE 99% of the time.
When somebody call me the phone ring and then then lost connection. When people call me they receive a "network error".
1 of 20 times I CAN do a call.
Do you think is the phone? or there is some update ? I'm downloading a 6.1 rom to test with it.
it is not the phone. Assuming your are using T-Mobile, Edge network coverage is almost 100% complete, while T-Mobile's 3G network is in the early stages. So you will usually get Edge until 3G is nearing completion - T-Mobile is slow

Well I use Claro AR (in Argentina). EDGE is 100% and 3G is quite well in my city, but what do you think about my phone calls are closed after 5/6 seconds with error and then it lose phone coverage. Never happened with other phone, same provider, same line, other phone.
Now I have updated to a duttys Rom with a newer radio version (1.65.x, my phone comes with 1.21.x) and still happening. Now I will test another rom

If you do a search on this board lots of people are having that problem, as I found when encountering it myself. It's a hardware fault in the radio part, that requires sending the device back to HTC. They actually replace the whole mainboard to cure it, so it's a serious issue.
Awaiting to receive mine back, it's been there for a month now

I force the phone to run under GSM network (not WCDMA) and the phone works perfect, internet too (only EDGE). But I can't use 3G because if I set it to WCDMA or AUTO in the phone network section, it's unusable.
That's the one. I'm receiving my Kaiser back from repair tomorrow, can't wait, and hope it will be fine this time... It's been at the service center for 6 weeks now

Yep, received it back like 3 weeks ago, everything works flawlessly. They replaced the whole mainboard just like for the other people with the same issue.
Ok I'm dead. Sending the devide to north america from Argentina? now way.
Why? I had to send it to the UK, not much of a problem...

No Incoming Calls or SMSs

i m from qatar. recently i shifted to another apartment abt 500 away frm my old apt. in here QTel(operator) is having 3g network.
normally, wen i m out i get good 3g signal but at home i get edge or gprs.
in new apt i m facing strange problem on my TYTN II. wen i enter into living room, the edge or gprs signals also get lost but phone shows good signal strength for GSM. once the data signals get lost i stop getting any calls or SMSs but i can call out.
i had original HTC WM6.1 rom downloaded from HTC having radio 1.65.17.56. i thought upgrading the Radio shud resolve the issue so i upgraded the radio by downloading new official HTC rom frm this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439408 but i m still facing the same problem. my current radio is 1.70.19.09

I live in Serbia,Europe and I have faced the same problem many times...I just wanted to tell you that your phone is perfectly fine,and work great. However it has a network problem. Network signals,especially 3G sometimes make a lot of mess and confuses the phone. If you leave your appartment and if your signal is fine and phone behaves well,then,it is obvious that your network has bad coverage in,or,around place where you live.

thnx for ur reply. i know that i looks like a network problem. thats y i disabled 3g using Bandswicth Appln. but i face same problem. also if i put the Sim in other mobiles they work fine though i don't get 3g which i really don't need. i just want all voice calls n sms to work OK

I have 2 phones a HTC Diamond and a Nokia, and problems appear only at HTC (Nokia works perfectly).
Why Diamond is only affected by network problems?

[Q] Cannot connect to service provider (network unavailable)

Two days ago, out of a sudden my phone stopped connecting to the carrier (Rogers, Canada). I can't call, send text, or use data at all. When I go into Access Point Names, my Xperia Z shows the lterogers.apn installed. If I go into Service Providers I can see a list of Canadian networks, I've tried connecting to the LTE, 3G, and 2G networks of Rogers to no avail. Also, I tried my SIM in a Nexus 5 and it works, I also went to the company and there are no issues with my account at all. Any advice on how to solve this?

Hey guys
I'm having the exact same problem! Haver only had the phone a month - previous xperia z replaced due to sudden death - and then this morning I lost my mobile data connection, closely followed by my entire reception. I've repaired/reset the phone multiple times, all per Sony's instructions without any luck. Hoping someone around here has a fix for me!!! At the moment just bashing my head against the wall with this phone and its issues!
