media player library adding problem

Hi,
I have a problem, when i try to update my library on media player it finds them all the trys to add them and it just gets stuck half way through?
Any ideas?

delete a hidden file
Sometimes the library gets corrupted. Try this
1. quit media player
2. open file explorer, and check "Show All Files" menu option
3. Locate and delete the folder MSMETADATA from the root (mine is in the root of the Storage Card)
4. Restart media player, and rebuild your library.

Need WMPlayer.exe!!!!! Accidentally deleted from the windows folder..

Can anyone here do me a favor and copy the windows media player.exe (uses the name wmplayer.exe) file out of their windows folder for me I accidentally deleted it when trying to get mort player to launch from the HTC Home plugin...Thanks you

What do you mean you "Deleted" it. As far as i know it's not possible to delete things from the ROM. Is it???

yes i overwrote it using total commander file explorer if you could just post up a copy of your wmplayer.exe file then i could copy it back into the windows folder and then i can access windows media player again lol

Nevermind I found a cab on the internets.

I overwrote too my wmplayer.exe using total commander file explorer.
Could someone send me his wmplayer.exe ?

hmmm...errr...i think files on the ROM that have been overwritten can be recoved by just deleting the file...this will undo the overwrite and the original file from the ROM will pop back into place

Yes, you're right.
I just deleted wmplayer.exe with ActiveSync and I rebooted, and wmp came back.

windows media player as default

Hi guys,
I had 2 media players in my kaiser, one was sompy player and other windows media. All the songs were playing in sompy player as it was the default player. Later, i had to uninstall the sompy player and the song are not playing when i click it. If i select the song through windows media player, it is playing. how can i make windows media player as default player? even when i transfer new songs to my mobile, i cannot play it directly. please get me some solutions!

one thing that you could do, is install Schaps Advanced Config. then go to file associations and associate WMP as the defualt player for those files.

thanks a lot for the advise. I have installed it and tried to associate the WMP files but still the same issue exist. Or may be the way, i have tried is not correct. when i opened the file association, i get so many extensions and for each extension, a description is given. for mp3, the description is sompy player. I located the file that i wanted to play in windows media player by clicking the WMP extension and clicked ok. After that, i tried to open the song file, but the same problem happening. please advise

1. Get to the file association menu in Advanced config.
2. Locate the file that you wanted to associate(.mp3 in your case)
3. Single click on the file extension
4. Click on "Select Program"
5. Then the explorer will open up.
6. Go to the windows folder(takes some to time to load)
7. Locate the file that says WMplayer.exe or something like that, the one that has WMP's picture next to it.
8. Select it.
9. Now you should be back to the extension list.
10. Click on "Save"
11. Click Ok
12. Click "Done" on the Advanced Config mainscreen.
13. Do the Soft reset, when it asks you to.
14. When it rebbots, try it.

I have the same problem fot file association, but my advanced config doesn't have a file association menu ! do you know another work-around?

version 2.02.0.2.0. but it came with a cooked rom (Blue Elves 5.0).
Well I guess this version of advanced config is latest but I still can't find file type association in the list.
Do you think reinstalling advanced config will resolve?

TF3d Music Library Persistent info after files deleted

I have a strage behaviour on my diamon's tf3d music library, I copy my Albuns to Internal Storage/content/music, at first all went fine, the library updated with new files after powering on the device again, but the problem appears when I delete some albums directly with explorer, even after powering off and back on, the music library still shows the deleted albuns ...artists...song...etc related to the files that are no longer on the device, I cant find any library reset or something like that, and the info on the mobile wmp library is correct, so I cant understand where does tf3d music library info comes form.
Anyone ?

You need to rename the follow file to "AudioManager_Eng.vol.vol"
Device/Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/AudioManager_Eng.vol
Soft Reset . . . . New AudioManager_Eng.vol will be created.

I had that similar problem last time, get advice from SwiftBL and plus few tries . . . The conclusion is:
If Album Art embedded in mp3 songs, u might have problem. What you can do is copy all your mp3 file to InternalStorage/My Documents/My Music/xxx
xxx = Your individual Artist Folder, copy a jpg file(or the album art) rename as folder.jpg
Then do the following steps . . .
You need to rename the follow file to "AudioManager_Eng.vol.vol"
Device/Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/AudioManager_Eng.vol
Soft Reset . . . . New AudioManager_Eng.vol will be created.

just one thing, get rid of that tab and use S2P

How to create the ".nomedia" file....

I might be missing something really obvious here, but how are you supposed to create the .nomedia file so that the music player won't see files from system folders? I have a whole bunch of mp3's appearing in my music player because of Real Football 2010. If I try and create the file on Windows 7, it says "You must type a filename". Any help?

Open notepad, rename file ".nomedia" and change the file type from txt to "all files". Try again, report back.

rename it on the phone

Easier way is to create a folder directly inside the one that has the music files (did this on letsgolf it has tons of sounds) just tap create folder and name it .nomedia works for me.

Creating .nomedia folder in windows 7 solution
1. Goto command prompt : Run->cmd
2. Goto your flash drive e.g. F:
3. Goto you desire folder e.g. CD gameloft
4. type "copy con .nomedia" and press enter
5. press F6 and press enter.
This will create the .nomedia file in windows.

Old thread but here is a no Computer needed option:
Download ES File explorer (its free)
Install and open it
Navigate to the folder you want to exclude (remember it propagates down e.g. if you place it in the root of SD then the whole of SD is excluded including all the sub-folders)
Press Menu and select "new"
Select "File"
Call it .nomedia
Rescan your memory Cards
Sorted no PC required

Does creating a .nomedia file in a folder also stops it from scanning lower folders?
Ex.
\Mystuff
\Mystuff\lotsofstuff
\Mystuff\lotsofstuff\pics
Will putting it in \Mystuff stop it from scanning the lower folders?

I have created a ".nomedia" file but the pictures in that folder still shows up in the gallery.. Anyone have similar experience?
Using SE Xperia Arc.

Restart ur phone so that media scanner runs once...

Gallery excluder is another app from the market you can use, even to restart the media scan afterwards to apply the changes.

You can open notepad via Windows->notepad and ctrl+S to save it (with blank content), in the "File name" field, you type ".nomedia" and in the "save as Type" field, you chose "All files (*.*))"

No need to create file or using an application
You don't need to find a way to create that file. Connect your mobile to pc by USB and browse in your sdcard. Enable show hidden or system files from your operating systems file explorer. Find a .nomedia file and copy it to the new location you want. This is more practical. Also if you have a root explorer on your Android, you don't even need a pc.

AW: How to create the ".nomedia" file....
Another way doing this (imo the best):
1. Open terminal emulator and navigate to the folder
2. Type: touch .nomedia
3. Done

I misplaced .nomedia file into home dir. and then rebooted my device. Gallery or music player not showing anything. I removed .nomedia file and then I tried but it won't work..:crying:

I'm confused. Are you saying it didn't see media before and after the file was in the directory? Did you restart?
