Attached is a small tool to help you

For some reason I'm unable to get the file but if it is sharkys softkey changer I think it is the reason my tilt can't attach the left softkey to my calendar. I get a error saying "The file 'HTCCalendar' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate........" you know the rest. I would really like to fix it in the registry. Can you help with that?

After much searching, for the exact same reason, i have found the correct value for that key.
"\Windows\Start Menu\Contacts.lnk"
this will load your contacts as the softkey originally would have

HTC Home: Missing Contact Tab

At some point in the past few days HTC Home stopped displaying the Contacts/Favorites tab. I am (and have been) using HTC Home Customizer and I see Contacts as a choice on the Tabs setting and have selected (and de-selected several times) it but it still won't display the tab on the home screen.
I tried re-installing HTC Home but no joy...
Any and all thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. I'm hoping someone can share their registry entries for HTC Home and/or Contacts?
Did you install one of the TouchFlo/Biotouch Cube installation cabs? They add a registry key that hides the contacts from HTCHome
^^^ If you did
i had the same problem and this worked

I did (unsuccessfully) and the registry tweak above fixed it.
Thank you all!!!!
Greg
ZILLA - thanks, couldn't remember the exact registry value off hand ... didn't have time to look it up at that point
gregeast - glad to hear that fixed it. Sorry you didn't get the cube working ... it's not an easy install at this point, but pretty cool when you do get it working.
Thank the lawd! It works! I've been searching and reinstalling for a week.
Nice thanks
Where do you find the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/MASD/QuickDial on the unit, have searched loads of directorys but couldn't find it to delete it?
Well sounds stupid, but you really looked in the Registry and not the File Structure? It is exactly there under MASD....

You have to use Regedit program and to search you have to search for QuickDial
not the whole thing. If you cant find a registry editing program, I think you are out of luck.

soft key re-mapping issue

hey guys, as you know, the left soft key is mapped for the calender, and i had no issue with it. i used the program in dutty's #7 rom to change it to something else (htc action button).. however, i decided to change it back to calender, and now every time i try to open the calender through the left soft key i get the following error message:
"The file "HTCCalendar" cannot be opened. either it is not sined with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. if the problem persisits, try reinstalling or restoring this file"
whats going on? thanks
omar
Use a registry editor and go to the following key:
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112
Change the value of "open" from HTCCalendar.exe to calendar.exe - there is no HTC version of the calendar application, but the soft key changer seems to think there is!
Mark.
hey thanks for your help, i did what you said, and now it gives me the same error message but with Calendar instead of HTCCalendar. ha u know whats going on? thanks
Does your registry key look like this?
\windows\LSK\calendar.exe
If so, look in your LSK folder in Windows via Explorer and I'll bet you'll find it's empty. Mine was and I had the same error as you. All I did to fix it was remove the LSK\ from the registry. Soft reset and it should work, mine does.
Yeah...what he said
Sorry, I forgot to say you had to remove the "LSK" bit from the path in the registry key.....it was late and I was tired OK
Hope it's working now!
Mark.
hey guys, worked perfectly, thanks for all ur help!
omar
I just noticed this fix doesn't stick and will be wiped out during a SR. Maybe it's something I've done wrong.
EDIT: Memmaid was causing this problem during a Quick Clean operation.

Remap Soft Keys on the Kaiser

Hi folks,
Is there a way to remap the soft keys on the Kaiser?
I am sure there is; I would appreciate it if someone explained to me how.
I had to uninstall Pocket Informant and I can't access the original Calendar app on the left soft key!!!
Many thanks,
MAC

SoftKey Changer
There you go.. Install, soft reset, and its under Start -> Settings -> System
I gave it a try but my expectations were that would be what that soft key would be no matter what program I'm in, but that is not the case. I guess I'll use somethign else like AE Button to get teh keys I want.
Thanks for the post though.
[EDIT]
By the way, after uninstalling, the button assignments remain. Interesting.
Yep use AE Button. It's an amazing tool! Although be careful what you change as it can mess up your device used carelessly.

Thanks very much. I will give this a try.
In the meantime I had to restore a previous version from SPB Backup and this got sorted. I have decided not to re-install Pocket Informant 8 as it caused some isues with ringtones and performance.
I put this on my HTC Tilt and it works awesome, exactly what i was looking for to change the two soft keys.
Hi there, hope everyone is well.
I installed the softkey changer cab , and it seemed to install fine. I was able to find it under settings with no problem and set the left softket to 'new sms'. However when I try to actualy use this from the homescreen i get an error message saying:
"The file 'tnsms' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components could not be found. If the problem persists try reinstalling or restoring this file."
I have tried reinstalling, but got the same problem. I can still send an sms if I go through contacts, or messaging, but would love to have this as a working softkey as it tends to be the function I use the most.
Other than installing google maps and opera mini, there have been no changes made since I received the phone a few days ago. It is a standard HTC tytn II.
I'm completely new to this, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, James.

This helped:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357163
Essentially, change the value of the key to /Windows/(your SMS program)
Mine was tmail.exe.
Now I wonder... how do I not go to the messages screen and go directly to a new SMS?
I'm having the same problem on a Tilt.

Thanks for the advice, I will probably give that a go when I've stopped being so scared of changing registry stuff.
I did find another app that does the trick though. Just make sure you add a shortcut to 'new sms' first (bottom option of the config screen), you should then be able to assign this to either softkey.
Works for me, and I'm able to go straight to a new sms from the homescreen.
Hope it helps, all the best.

TF3D Program Tab Mystery!

I went to the program tab on TF3D and noticed that an extra row of blank spaces appeared out of nowhere. I didnt think it was that bad since I get an extra row. Unfortunately when I try add a new program, it stays blank and another row of blank icons appear! Anyone know how to get rid of this?
You can manage the icons/programs in the program tab with a freeware utility called "diamond TF3D Config" (you will find it here by using the search)
Greetz
Boris
I know all about TF3d config. Im having problems with the amount of rows present in my programs tab. I cant use them and I cant remove them. I havent installed any programs lately and IDK wth I need to do to get rid of them. So far I have 12 rows of unusable [+] icons. TF3d Config does not manage this.
I have the same problem!!!
I now have an extra page (3x3 icons) of "add program" icons.
In tf3d config it shows the programs I wanted to add, which appear as add program.
And if I try to delete them the add icons still stay....
Does anyone know a solution?
Thanks
ditto... I randomly got the same problem about 2 days ago shorty after I installed the diamond config I think. I also installed the footprints cab and navipanel as well... and recently installed facebook chat and wfacebook.
maybe one of these new installs caused the issue?

Had the same problem too guys, it has nothing to do with the footprints cab or facebook chat, all you need to do are some very simple registry edits. I saw the solution a while back in this forum. Can't remember any more what the title of the thread was, but it solved my problem. Will try to find it and get back to you.
EDIT: Found it! Here you go: (credit goes to Rabangus)
Open the registry editor and go to:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher
In there you should only have keys 0-17. Just delete any additional key you find there (i.e. key 18 and above), do a soft-reset and you're done
Hope this helps...
Peter
thnks this solved the problem.
yeah this happened to me a while ago and that solution worked
That's great and all but WHY did it happen in the first place?
Thats part of the mystery.
maybe u have installed xbodmod manilla HD and then u have unistalled.. that should give u some new entries in program tab..

Excellent post, this one had me confused as well but your solution took care of that.
Is there any way to make these extra buttons functional instead of deleting them?
I have the same problem - extra row of icons that I cannot assign to programs...
It happened to me just after I clicked on the FM Radio icon, I had just installed the TP2 icons which installed that icon but since my phone did not have an FM Radio it gave me a really weird error and that's when the icons showed up.
