I have seen pictures of other WM6 devices that have a large digital clok on the today screen. How can I go about getting a digital clock on the today screen? I have tried SPB Time but did not like it much. Any other programs or cab files that I can use?
try rlToday.

Lots and lots of skins, easy to program as well.
Just look through the forum.
You can resize downloaded skins to fit the Treo screen here.

I'm guessing you're talking about HTC Home. It can be installed on the 750 according to this thread-

Program looked nice until it crashed the phone. After install the phone hung and then hung after every restart. Had to hard reset or install WM6 again.

Thanks...will give it a try.
well i followed the latest release 2.1 from the big HTC HOME thread link above. however with that version it would not show up on the today screen. Then i got a version from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320190&page=4&highlight=HTC+Home+treo+750
Post 33 has a link. This one works fine but its only 3 button. Also you need to have Dial Lookup on the screen too to make the red and green buttons work.

I installed rlToday V0.1.22b on my Kaiser running WM6 and it works great. I've been looking for something to display a good digital clock on my today screen and this works great. I've used HTC Home and really like having a clock on the today screen, but it takes a lot of space and most of it's additional functions are redundant to SPB Plus and SPB Weather.
I'm about fed up with TouchFlo 3D, nice but pretty useless and I REALLY miss the Cube from my Touch Dual, much more convenient and doens't waste CPU cycles, so...has anyone installed it on the Diamond ?
Found a few existing CUBE topics, but not sure if there might not be interference and if a VGA skin is needed.
Topics : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343583 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348437
Ok had to hard reset...
Was hopeful after a post by SecureGSM :
"HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings:
also, there is one that is suppose to enable cube finctionality there:
EnableCube : default value (0) <--change that to (1)"
But not working for me.
Its not so simple as switching cube on. Cube is simply not there in our Diamond. If u try to install this Cube configurator from the Elf thread, u'll see a multitude of errors, missing files, etc. Cube may be functional here, but we'll be needing all those files
Yes, that sucks, the CUBE is x times more useful than TouchFlo 3D IMHO.
There must be a way though because it was added to non touch devices.
i dun think we'll have to descend to the non touch method, they use flash. i'm sure if we can get the Touch Cruise for example, and get their files, and put it in, it should work? i think
Catching up, I also thought this would do it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348437 but so far no luck either.
bump - hope someone can figure it out ;-)
Another bump, that would be such a useful addition, I'm sure the bright minds around here can figure how to add the Cube back ;-)
have u tried Touch Commander?
Not sure, got a link ? I tried the tools linked in the first message and no go, had to hard reset.
I know a guy who might be very good at this ... Duttie or something like that
Unfortunatly, he is not around (yet)
Sounds good, hope he joins us soon !
Have you considered something like this:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?en
There are a couple of other similar GUIs out there and the good thing about them that they all VGA optimized.

and it's variation by GSmart
http://www.smartdevicefreeware.com/gsmart-windows-mobile-touch-gui/
Thanks, but what I like about the cube is up and down the gesture to bring the contact list and then left to right for the various tools. The Contact list would be enough actually.
bumping it up ;-)

Any news guys ? I was so happy with my Touch Cruise but bought the Diamond for the 640x480 screen and faster video playback.
The TouchFlow 3D looks fine but it's very useless to me, The old TouchFlo Cube from the cruise could be swept away and you had your normal windows todayscreen.
I tried the Cube thing SPD Mobile Shell but the old originall CUBE is way better I think.
Any solutions ?
Bump!!! I Want The Cube!!!!!!
same here, in fact I want it so much I've stuck with the HTC Touch Dual, aka Nike !
links removed.
it does look good but my personal preferance is not to make my device look like an iphone otherwise id of brought one.good work though.
This Looks Great!
Well done!
very cute, great work snachez
if you're going to use HTCHome plugin, then there is no need for a SMS/messaging icon - its already built into that plugin
how did you set icons on your today screen like that. i really like your theme and those icons seems very functional. i want just that today screen and other skins but not all the extra software
ok ultimate launcher. nvm
sanchez, the more i look at those images, the more i can see myself using that theme. it looks very functional. i like. i will give it a try when it comes out
snachez,
Am so glad you's taking part in talk like a pirate day... Arrr!

looks good. when is it gonna be available?
I really like this, it still had the Dark Kaiser style, with some Iphone-y sensibilties lol. Definity one to keep tabs on, good work
Edit - 100 posts, baby!
I like the look, it would be nice if you would consider using Throttle Launcher as another base to do a version.
There are several advantages to using TL:
1 - Its highly user configurable (everyone has different apps they want to access).
2 - It has really nice thumb scrolling
3 - It can easily load the HTC Home screen plugin (and others) on any of its Pages.
4 - It will soon have its own customizable readers and calendar.
Which gives it a much stronger all around integrated interface.
Question - does your dialer have the redial problem most custom dialer have?

Thanks for the comments. I haven't played with TL at all so far, but once I'm satisfied with this release and get bored, I'm sure I'll need something else to occupy my time The youtube vids look pretty cool.
As for the dialer, its Paul DeGroots version - I never need redial so I'm not sure, but there are a few known flaws with a dll thats being worked on presently I believe.
It looks great! Please keep us updated with any news.
I really like the looks of it all. If i was going to re-flash my Tilt sounds like it would make sense to do a lite version and then add this it when available. Does that make sense? Is there one that you know of that has some/most/any of this already included?

Yep, UL and some customised iphone-like icons I've gathered from around the web. The links on the HTC Home sms/email counters do take you to the relevant screens, but I also have two other email accounts set up on the device so I find it useful to have access to those at a push of a button from the front screen (and the menu->sync option syncs all the boxes , not just the default one)
You'll be able to easily change it using the UL preferences to suit your tastes.

I'm not much into flashing actual ROMs personally, so I plan on releasing this theme with all the cab packages required (once I've got permission from the various authors of course.) - as well as an online update repository making all the cabs easier to find in one place.
This can be installed over a default factory ROM to make it behave the way I feel a device of this great capability should be accessed.
I'm thinking maybe a sashimi script ? Any ideas ?
Any of the commercial software I use will be substituted with trial versions and require purchase if you want to use it permanently, or swapped easily to the program of your choice.
sounds good. can't wait.
Yes I agree Looks good Like the icons they aren't as cartoony as the iphones go for it !!
preview update (13.09.08)
Updated with a few more screens & swapped from HTC Weather to Rumbals Diamond WeatherPanel (great stuff, support his work!), a new SPB Calc skin I just finished and changed over to Kies Carbon Keyboard skin for the time being. Reload the image in the first post if you'd like to see the changes.

Can you please upload me a S2U2 background image and psshutXP's diamondish skin, plese??
Can anyone point me to other frontents for Windows Mobile like for example
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshel
PointUI Home was another one that I tried on my previous WinMob phone, it's very responsive and smooth but it's not the most attractive front end in the world. Also, not being able to see the clock and upcoming appointments at the same time got right on my tits. To be honest I've yet to come across a front end with a Today style screen that shows everything the default WinMob one does (i.e. date/time, tasks, appointments and count of unread emails/messages) which annoys the hell out of me, I don't understand how these various companies have spent time writing front ends intended to replace WinMob yet can't give us a Today screen that even has the functionality of the default one. Is it really that hard to do?
thanks, i tried and installes 1.51a of it, but nothing happens, still standard winmob frontend... how must i intall it properly?

If it's installed properly you should now have an entry for it in your Programs list, you can just launch it from there like any other application and I think it then remains resident.
On a related note I found this Wizbar app that seems to allow the customisation of WinMob though I haven't tried this one out. There are some themes for it here.
I'm very happy with SPB software though obviously it's quite expensive to buy. I think it has a free trial.
SPB pocket plus is a genius bit of software because it allows you to quickly select from up to 7 today screens each containing various today plugins and shortcuts. You get up to 6 tabs plus your regular today screen (when the tabs are set to auto-hide).
Other today plugins I'm using are Pocket Player, DevState 1.5 (as a task manager) and SPB Time, Diary, Weather and Mobile Suite (another great program). (Not cheap )
Here are some screens - the photo is a holiday shot from Turkey:
there is also vito winterface which is iphone clone...quite nice but nothing new. i still with manila
This topic may be a bit premature seeing how manilla 2d is still in it's beta stages but...
I havn't tryed Manilla 2d yet but for everyone who has, what do you like/dislike about it? Would you prefer it over Htc Home? Why would you? I'm using Htc Home right now. Especially with the nice Htc Customizer.
I suggest you try it first, before creating a thread - it only takes 5 minutes..
and to answer your question I prefer Home.
Manila absolutely no question about it. Seriously, this is like asking if one prefers a bumper car or a real car. Just my .02 but i think you'll find most will choose manila.
over Manilla
I found this thread while looking for a non Manilla ROM after being annoyed by the screen rotation to not want to use it any more.
Looked cool initially...
it looks cool and stuff but i changed back from manilla to the htc home because manilla had to many bugs

Search for AthineOS. He made two roms, one for manilla and one for htc home. Rom is superfast. I also suggest Duttys_WM6[1].1_5.2.19700_Hybrid_V2 rom. Not so lite as AthineOS rom, it's a very good rom and always had decent battery life no matter what radio u used...
Back to topic..
This is exactly what i wanted. So far poll is 2-2. I think Manilla will outweigh HHome once all the bugs are tweaked and landscape = 100% other than the quick fix he has out right now. In any case, they are both really nice apps to have for our today screen and for the authors to have many donations going there way..
Home until the bugs are sorted although have recently fiddled with mobile shell and throttle launcher. I find I keep going back to home with ultimate launch.

Great analogy mate haha
I figured I would try Manila2D for a day and then go back to HTC Home when it first came out in a Rom but from the moment I first used it I fell in love with the feel and ease of use. You can navigate through all the menus using your finger or DPad as prefered whereas Home tended to be very fiddly and I was always using my stylus or the start menu to get where I wanted. Im using SJ's OPAL build 11th Oct now and I have absolutely no bugs and its extremely fast and responsive. In my experience most of the people who have experienced problems in the latest builds have been down to bad flashes. I always advise everyone to shut down all other programs and keep the Rom update program in the foreground when flashing and to take out the sim card to avoid all posibility of glitches occuring.
Manila wins hands down anyday.
I use neither, because:
1. Manilla vanilla, shmanilla. Sheesh, if I wanted a touchflo device I would buy a Touch Pro/HD or something like that. Every second thread in development and hacking is about manilla something or other. Enough already.
2. I HATE fingerprints, smears, etc on my screen.
3. HTC Home requires far too much Today real estate!
This is my setup:
PhoneAlarm Pro with B&W pure Skin (small footprint)
PDC (Pocket Digital Clock) with Alien Round fonts
Sun n Moon
Homescreen ++ (Ex Batterystatus) with Tray Icons activated.
SPB Traveller
TodayAgenda
And then I use S2U2 with an animated gif. That's it.
I use manilla. I love the customization of it. I love using my fingers to get to the things I use. I alos love the themes I can make. Home just never appealled to me at all. I was lucky enough not to have my phone bit for a week or two before M2d came out.
I use Manilla. It's attractive, responsive, and well laid-out. It's not perfect, though -- I find the built-in weather app pretty weak and I like Live Search better than Google Maps. But even with those complaints, I still prefer Manilla.
You forgot the "None" option. No matter how hard I try, I keep going mad at those "newfangled" interfaces - both of them - and end deactivating them after 1 hour.
Good'ole today plugins and Quickmenu rule.
MANILLA!
If I wanted things plain ole, I'd buy a flip phone or something. Manilla looks great, works great and I wouldn't have anything else.
The new ThrottleLauncher 0.9.5 Beta destroys Manilla. I cannot stand how hard it is to customize Manilla (not graphically), where ThrottleLauncher can be customized very easily. The lastest release is quite fast!

Yes you can always buy a new device with TouchFLO but roms are something free.
I have used Manila for a few weeks and, trust me, you won't have fingerprints on your screen unless your fingers are sweaty. You will always wipe away your fingerprints with touchs

I'm definitely keeping my eye on ThrottleLauncher. I like it a lot in concept, and customizability is great. But my experimenting with the 0.9.5 Beta didn't impress me much. It still felt a little sluggish and I just couldn't control it as accurately and quickly as manilla.
I need to try loading it onto a lighter ROM and doing a little customization.

Make sure you installed NetCF 3.5, and that apps are set to use it as defualt. I turned off all the transarency and went into the vars.xml and set my fps to 30 (because the editor is 20 max). It's smooth and quick.
PM me if you want the NetCF 3.5 standalone cab and NetCF config tool cab. I don't want to hijack this thread more than I already have.
why doesnt a chef put the new TL on a rom ...that would be so cool
I like having all my info available to me on one screen, especially the weather. I have my phone set up to use HTC home, Calendar++, and weatherbug. I don't have any ugly scrollbars on my screen, I have a clear view of messages, time, next appointments, and weather for the next three days, all without having to click through various screens. Plus, Manilla, HTC Weather, and pretty much any other built-in weather app I've used does not have weather info for my small town I live in, but weatherbug does, plus I get severe weather alerts and it's very customizable.
I hate Manila, it sucks to me! HTC Home allow you to have more things under control on the screen. HTC Home no doubts
