I read a comment that someone posted (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4&postcount=12) about an error that they were having with videos recorded on the Kasier when played with QuickTime on a PC:
"-Error -2401: an invalid sample description was found in the movie."
I have an at&t Kaiser running the stock ROM and was wondering if anyone ever found a fix for the error. I have a bunch of videos I recorded and they all are giving this error when I try to play them with QuickTime on my PC. VLC Media Player will play the videos, but I get no sound.
All input is appreciated. Thanks.

in case you didn't find an answer yet, I read this on the at&t forums. Annoying, but it works:
I found an answer to this issue on the Quicktime Forums.
Simply change the extension from *.mp4 to *.3gp and all will work just peachy.

As long as you can see the extension on computer you can do it "normally known extensions are hidden but can be changed in folder options" or on phone
ok, but that doesnt tell me "how" it just tells me that it can be done. could you please explain to me how to do this? I ahve put all the files i want to change into a folder on my computer. XPpro
by the way, did i mention Apple SUX?! just checkin in case i didnt.
Well all it says is to change the extension:
Eg: moviename.mp4 to moviename.3gp
If you can't see the extension:
Control Panel\Folder Options\View"it's a tab" and untick hide extensions for known files.
so after you change the extention it will just play? no conversion at all? hmm i will give it a shot.
I found a real cool suite of programs to help out with this kind of stuff and much more. thought it might be helpfull to yourself and others.

Ok everyone I know some of you may know about this, and some of you may not, but there is a way to watch Youtube videos on your WM6 device. And no, I'm not talking about the downloading, saving and relaunching way. It works the way it (more or less) should, you click the link and the video plays. Just use these two files that I'm posting for you. Here's all you have to do.
1. If you have a version TCPMP already installed, uninstall it. Then SOFT RESET!!!
2. Install the tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab file
3. Then install the FlashVideoBundle-v1-2.cab file.
4. SOFT RESET
5. Go to youtube and enjoy!
Hope this helps.
Does not work on mine
When trying to play You Tube on my TMO Wing, the windows media player opens and then a box opens with message "Unspecified error".
I get a message about not being able to open the file after I get a warning about a system command that might be harmful to run. It says that the file is not signed with a cleared certificate or that one of the components doesn't exist. It tells me to reinstall the components if the problem continues.
Hmmm, maybe I need to rename some files.
Did a little snooping with the explorer, but could not see any files that could be problematic, like language locked files.

Did you soft reset after installing the 2 cabs? Becuase if done right, Windows Media player wont be the default player for the files.

Would these work if I install them on a storage card?

From what I've heard yes, but they both have to be installed onto the storage card. I don't have one yet so I can't confirm it.

It might be lagging just because the GPRS/Edge network you're on. Try it using a wi-fi connection, if it still lags, then I would suggest a couple of things:
1. Use the Quick Page Pool changer to change your Page Pool to 6MB to free up some RAM
and/or
2. Use Battery Status to overclock your device.
Good luck!
Hi All,
I have been using YOUTUBE on my HTC TYTN II since last two months through FlashVideoBundle.CAB and TCMP and it was working flawlessly until I checked yesterday.
Now I am not able to see any videos on www.ytpocket.com and moreover when I go to main www.youtube.com and click on a video and say either save or play it shows me error message “youtube swf args not found”.
Please help me to sort out this problem.

Are you sure it will not screw any existing applications as i was able to stream youtube before and apart from youtube i am still able to stream videos from other websites like goggle videos, VEOH videos, DIVX STAGE6 videos etc...

Not sure about that, guess you'll just have to try and find out.
Just out of curiosity, how do you stream vids from stage6? Is there a plugin or a certain player for that?

I use TCMP and FlashVideoBundle for Stage 6, Just you need to associate divx files with TCMP.
Just as additional information, in the event that someone had the same problem as me.
I had problems through wifi where it failed to connect.
The phone had defaulted to trying to connect through "My ISP" in the streaming media app options. To get it working through wifi, just change the option to connect through "The Internet" and it goes for the wifi rather than the phone network (which I have disabled with Modaco".
I just tried m.youtube.com and everything works as usual. I use HTC Streaming Media, it intergrates with browser perfectly. You can find a cab floating somewhere on the forum.
Sorry to hijack the thread man, but I thought it might be better not to open a new one for a very similar problem.
I had to hard reset my device yesterday and then I've installed everything back.
Now youtube doesn't work as it is supposed to. When I'm watching a stream in landscape mode and I want to see it full screen, it rotates back to portrait.
Before the hard reset it was working just fine. What could it be?
Thanks.
The ROMeOS Rom works very well with YouTube. If you want to try it here it is, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406346. It as actually a very good, stable, and fast Rom. It is on the Lite side and an excellent base to add just what you want in your Rom.

I'm using aruppenthals rom and would like ot get CV back on this device. There is a post on NAFT's thread (v3.2 ... 4 Flavors Total) where he says to go to post 4 and download the modified Opera.ini file, drop into Windows\Opera9 and install the cab file to make this feature work again. I can find neither file anywhaere. Can someone tell me where to find theese items and something a little more specific than 'somewhere in the 148 page thread.
you can use these two cabs and it should work again for you. one is the CV and the other is realplayer not to be confused with REALONE player. the actual controls will be a little garbled in the player since this was a cab Sakajati (chef) extracted for the tilt (qvga). vids play fine though.

All in one solution
Use the attached file, it an all in one solution. It will install Real Player and Cingular Video and it's much smaller footprint. Just remember to change your user agent to HTC-8900 with Advanced Config and to run the Hidden proxy.
only problem with that cab is it will keep asking you to save them to the device first. my cab will stream them, no need to save them.
I've tried both with no success. Either way Real palyer does not even open. The 'Streaming Media' player opens and then errors out saying something about not being able to. I'm guessing that it is not set to be the default player in this rom. I'm using rup's 3.3 .
First off you need to change the Opera.ini file. Its located (some ROM's may vary) in the "Windows" under the "Opera9" folder.
Lately there have been a lot of errors "File re-entry not allowed" with Streaming Media Player. I think it is a compatibility issue with the ROM's.
If you are getting this error there is no need to change it to Real Player if you don't want to. I am not going to take credit for this, just in finding it. I would give the page where I found it, but unfortunately I cant remember where. Below is a cab, install it to your device and it should play video again just fine. The only problem right now is the fact that the player doesn't match the screen size, but at least the videos play.
Both these files are in my CAB FILES BELOW on 4shared under AT&T Fuze, cab's, "fixes".

They won't work because streaming media player has registry settings to open when you click the button to stream the content. Most custom ROM's now come with it built in and make it uninstallable.
In order to change the "streaming content" to Real Player would require you to change those settings. Can be done, but without being able to delete the streaming media player, to me its just a waste of space.

So I'm resurrecting this thread because I'm sorta in the dark here. First off, it's taken me forever just to find a download of the AT&T CV cab file! (This is actually more about the blood feud between me and the XDA search engine. )
I seem to be missing something, though. Where do these two cabs, Opera.ini and Diamond Streaming Media, fit in the whole CV solution? Am I still supposed to install the 'ATT_Cellular_Video_v2.cab', but use this streaming media cab instead of the RealPlayer cab above? What if I already have streaming media installed? (Which I do. Using EnergyROM 3.0)
Also, for god only knows what reason, when I tried to start CV after installing the cab provided above, it started PIE, NOT Opera. And it said it couldn't find the "http://cingularvideo.cingular.com", which is what it defaulted to.
I've seen about a dozen postings about the Opera.ini file, but none of them tell you what to do after that! I suppose if you've gotten the "only on 3G" error, you're already far enough ahead of me to know that!
Anyway, If the CV app tries to get to a site that doesn't even exist, where do you go from there?!?
Hell, I don't even fully understand what the "CV" app itself does, if you can go through a browser and have some streaming video app installed, then what does this app do? Obviously, I've never even gotten that far!
BTW, I have tested to make sure my device it attached to the web. I can reach anywhere else. I'm also set up to use wap.cingular, and I have the hidden proxy installed.
Basically, I need help understanding which of the above installation files goes with which, and what the CV app is supposed to do when it starts, since I assume opening IE to go to an address it can't reach is not standard behavior!
Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks!
P.S. The Opera.ini cab above contains an "Opera.ini.txt" file. Shouldn't it just be Opera.ini?
Hi guys,
I was trying to upload some videos I made with my HTC HD7, but failed to do so.
I do have a Zune software, and managed easily to transfer videos to my computer, but mp4 file I get is one I can't open or upload to Youtube(unable to convert, it says, after it hits 100%).
How did you do it? Directly from your phone, or what? Which application do I need?
Thanks in advance, cheers!
So, no one uploades videos on youtube?
Whatever.
hmmm i haven't tried moving from HD7 to computer but it should be the same for videos which i think you have down, but maybe it's a different format that youtube doesn't eccept like some audio codecs or something?
try vlc player to play them onthe computer, if that plays it, then the file is fine.
if it doesn't but on the phone it does, something is going on when transfering.
after that i guess you might need to convert the file to something youtube is friendly with the like i think H264 or something like that i can't remember.
sorry if i cant help too much
Thanks for your reply, tombrighteyes.
I tried a lot of these things.
VLC couldn't open it. Then I tried downloading different codecs - no success.
I also tried importing it to Movie Maker and Sony Vegas Pro 10. No can do
Converting - can't recognize that file. Like it's some kind of alien mp4, idk..
Really annoying.
am I missing something also about uploading them. I could upload them direct from my TP2 by attaching them to an email. now I can't find the attach menu item for nothing but pictures. like we don't send files from our phones. stupid microsoft.

yeah at the moment now video sending via e-mail or MMS which sucks but what can we do for now. just hope that with an update like mango or something we can have that feature.
let me try and get a video from my phone to test if its just yours or mine is fine and will reply back.
(Edit) just tried with a small recording of about a minute. worked fine :/ which is wierd for you..
i have the HD7 T-mobile US ver 7392 recorded at 720p highest
did you try recording different in different settings? or maybe length times? try recording something quick and see if that works. maybe something hada hiccup when recording for so long.
im not sure, oh and btw running Win 7 64-bit and it ran under my windows media player just fine. im not sure if it's default but i do allways install the K-lite codec pack found around the web that makes most video files on windows media player if anything else i use VLC.
try these things, you never know.
Thanks a bunch, tombrighteyes!
I did just that. Tried it on my laptop which has 64 bit Windows 7, and installed K Lite Codec Pack, and it worked! On my dekstop, though, the same technique didn't work, but that doesn't matter since I can upload everything now
Cheers!

Nope, that doesn't do the trick cause, you know, the file is not finalized one way or the other by the phone itself.I guess I should edit the file somehow on the PC.

Thanks for reply i'll keep the files, but there must be a solution (
Various free video conversion software should do the trick. I've had success using the conversion feature of VideoLAN's VLC media player to 'convert' to .mp4; the video is full size, with sound, and at the original quality. The VLC media player could even play the temp_video file as-is, without any conversion...the conversion was only necessary to play with other players/to burn to DVD.
Hope this helps.
Found a utility that does the trick
I had the same problem. Some people claimed vlc would work, but it didn't. So I tried out this tool: http://grauonline.de/cmsimple2_6/en/?Solutions:HD_Video_Repair_Utility
It worked when I gave it a reference video (video shot from the same phone), but it only saves half the video unless you buy the license. After watching the video, I determined that I don't need the second half for the price they ask (29 euros), but at least I got half. If the author would only charge say $5 per video I'd probably buy it. In lieu of that, I simply joined the file together to create one file twice as long and re-ran it. In windows "copy /b file + file combined_file". This worked as a stop-gap, but the sound got really off at the midpoint. So, if you really want it to work right, I'd suggest paying for the license.
Credit to this person for pointing me to the tool.

DId you bought programm and got better result with or without added longer file? Cause for me full version got and maybe thats all there is to get- all ok but video or sound is going at different speed. So just readjust that in video edit programm. Also in options can select to divide files in seperate audio and video files and then combine changing speed only for video in video editing sofware.
Recovering the temp_video file
Dear all,
i know it is odd to response to a "long time ago" post, but i wish that this may help people who are facing similar problem.
I have just tried the app from the Google Play, MP4fix.
It requires the corrupted file, temp_video and a well-recorded file, i am not sure is it better to be a similar length for the well-recorded?
After processing, you can freely play the recovered file or paid to save the file.
Which means you can use another phone to Rexxxx while the phone is pXXXing the video.
However, it is better to pay for the developers who make this app.
VLC Works as of This Writing
I had this problem. Went looking for a solution and found this article mentioning VLC. On a Galaxy Tab A (purchased new in late 2017), VLC was indeed able to play it as-is. Renaming the file with the mp4 extension (no conversion) meant that even the Samsung Video Player could play it. Maybe Samsung improved the readability of the temp files.
I got the fix
I know this is 7 years later, but I just got this problem and got an actual fix for it. Go to your file manager and click on DCIM then on Camera then scroll all the way to the bottom and press and hold on your temp video and press share. Share it to your google drive and then once its on your Google drive, you can download it if you want to back on your device. Worked on my s7, hope it works for yall
