Hello all,
I'm using the Shogun WM6 Threaded Messaging app. I have recently received some extremely important text messages that must be retained. I do, however, have an insatiable addiction with flashing new ROMs.
I am trying to figure out where the messages are stored so that I may copy them to my storage card. I know there are apps like PIM Backup, but I'm not sure if they're compatible with the Palm-style threaded messaging. I would think that this app changes the actual storage location of the messages...
Any help would be TREMENDOUSLY appreciated.
Thanks!
I have resolved this issue!
You can back up your messages by copying a file called "PalmMsgV001" from the \Windows\ directory to any place on your Storage Card. You can restore your messages by copying the file back over to the \Windows\ directory after flashing a new ROM.
way to search the forums this was covered 59595959595959993493939 times already
Not only did I try searching the forums using Google and XDA (found nothing), but I actually figured this one out on my own through trial and error.
Thanks for your helpful reply.
Here is a better solution for you.. i am going to get with the developer and have something added to this little app, but check this thread...

Hi
this is my first post, so sorry if i say anything stupid
I have had a long look for topics covering this problem, but can't find any, if it has been covered already would someone please point me in the right direction.
I have just updated my O2 Mini S to the latest O2 rom. Before the update in an attempt to save my text messages i copied the file "Messaging" from My Device/Windows to my storage card.
After finishing the update i copied it back into place, overwriting the (now empty) Messaging folder.
However, none of my old messages are shown in the text inbox, and all the new texts i get are lost after a soft reset.
I thought i must have done something silly with the copying across of my old Messaging folder so i did a hard reset and started again, leaving the messaging folder well alone this time, but still all inbox messages are lost as soon as i soft reset (which is something i need to do alot with this phone).
Is there a way to stop this?
Update: I have checked the messaging folder and the texts i've received after my hard-reset are still there after the soft reset, but the text inbox doesn't seem to detect them. Same applies to Hotmail inbox, i received lots of emails and the messaging folder now has over 30 items in it, but after a soft reset they are not shown in my inbox :?
Thanks for any help
Anyone ever encounter a problem with messaging not opening? It's as if the program is just missing, but I don't receive any kind of error message.
I have network access, but selecting either email or text message, results in no action.
Everything was fine until a day or two ago. I'm wondering if I inadvertently deleted something.
Any ideas?
I had the same problem a while back. I found the answer in this forum somewhere.
Just delete the inbox folder on your storage card and you're good to go. Don't ask me why, it just works. This folder is then recreated automatically.
Let me know if it works for you.
Regards,
MAC
Check and see if you have multiple inbox.mst**** directories on your storage card, erasing these made my messaging work again. Not sure if you will lose your email though.
Worked like a charm - thank you.
yeah i have the same problem..i dont even have a way to send out txt msges. All that is there is email..no sms..i deleted the two inbox things but nothing happened. Someone please help me i cannot receive or send text msges...HELP
I had a similar problem had no email or text messages.. ended up deleting cemail.vol in the root directory and then setting up my emial again.. then it worked.. of course I lost everything I had in my email box... so maybe backup cemail.vol to another directory before you try...
Just delete email box on your storage(card or phone), or mailattch.box, and reconnect with active sync, synhronise your mails, and your messaging function will be back.
Hi all
Got my topaz phone just yesterday, it is magnificent!
But I am upgrading from a Eten X500+ phone, after I tried to restore messages from my old phone to the new one, the new one now cannot record any new sent messages.
In my opinion, this can be the backup program... I used spb backup. I may doing something with the file attributes in order to make it record sent messages again. But which file?
My x500+ is already dead so I have no way going back and do the backup again, unfortunately
Please advice
Thanks
Unfortunately it looks like SPB Backup might be the problem. The eten was Windows Mobile 5 I believe? And the Diamond 2 is 6.1, so there may have been differences between folder locations / formats between the two. My understanding is that SPB Backup makes an exact copy of the database from the old phone and dumps it on the new phone. Perhaps thats where the problem lies.
I routinely use PIM Backup to save and restore text messages from one phone to another, or in the case of flashing a new ROM. I'd recommend using it in future as it extracts the individual messages in their particular folders and transplants them perfectly in the new phone. For now I think you'll just have to abandon the sent messages.
thanks for your reply.
another question, my phone showed only one of maybe 10 messages on the SIM card. Those messages where copied from my temporary cell phone last week and i would love to see my TD2 showing them. Any ideas?
try to sync your messages, contacts etc.. with microsoft's myphone. It worked fine for me
Hi everyone, i hope this hasnt been resovled before, but i did a few searches and came up blank.
Ive had my TyTn II for quite a while now, and managed to rock up 48000 SMS on it, which stuffed up the memory, making me do a hard reset. But now i have a different problem.
I tried to delete all my SMS, which was about 14000, as i didnt want a repeat of what happened last time, but after a long tiime the SMS appeared to delete, so i did a soft reset, and about 6900 SMS remain, all in sent items. i tried again, and the same thing occoured. also once after resetting the SMSes that i sent/recieved the past day dissapeared.
Has anyone expierenced a problem like this? i think its a corrupt SMS in the Data files somewhere, but i really dont want to fish out a particular one, or hard reset my phone again.
And FYI im running the stock 6.1 TyTn II AUS ROM (Rom version 3.29.710 WWE)
Thankyou for your help
not completely sure whats going on but i have a suggestion worth trying out...
assuming your requirement is to keep a clean house with a minimum number of text items in your inbox and sent items, i imagine you would like to archive those messages (as opposed to simply deleting them) as a bonus.
search for "pimbackup" here on xda and download it and install it to your device. pimbackup has two kinds of backup operations:
1. backup and keep existing items
2. backup and REMOVE the backed up items
try option 2...this way, you will have an archive of all those text messages and you can let pimbackup handle the mass delete operation...who knows, maybe it will "stick" better than a manual mass deletion.
good luck!
i thought when u delete messages it just goes to the deleted folder not really off the phone go to that folder in messaging and delete them from there or from the pc.
Yes, but the default limit for deleted items is 50 messages. then it starts rolling them off and deleting...
Well, I am currently having the following problem. I think it started after using MTTY and upgraded my stock 2.03 NL ROM to Gen.Y R3. I received several complaints from friends that they sent text messages and that I did not respond. The text messages didn't appear in my inbox, so I was very curious if what happened then.
I found out in the Gen.Y thread that user tomoffel had the same issue. He also had a solution for this issue: Don't use PIMbackup but MyPhone from Microsoft. The text messages where visible with a program called SKTools, option databases and folder "fldr32000023". I therefore hard-reset my device, flashed the new R4.1 ROM from Gen.Y and synced my device with MyPhone. Unfortunately the issue still existed, it worked fine for about 3 messages and the 4th one disappeared in the hidden folder fldr32000023.
The things I have tried/investigated:
- Folder fldr32000023 doesn't exist after hard-reset but is created after receiving first text message. The fldr32000023 is stored in cemail.vol
- With SKTools I can not delete the folder fldr32000023, I can only make it empty
- Hard reset won't help
- Used about 4 different ROMs except stock, all having the same issue
Only thing I can try is flashing original ROM again, I don't have any other option left. Or is there anyone who knows what to do?
Thanks!
thats one of the poutlook databse folders, its hidden cuz its a system folder and should be there, so it just proves that your device has received the msgs, maybe its a hardware problem
I don't know if it is a hardware problem, tonight i will try the stock ROM again with hard-reset. If this still doesn't solve the issue I think i'm going to send it back to HTC or something..
