Tech savvies needed to fix keyboard lag! - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi everyone. I've been having this keyboard lag on my otherwise perfect Kaiser. But it's been driving me nuts!
I've tried all the tricks suggested, like the "Up/Down Control" set to fast, or the Autocomplete turned off but no joy, the problem is always there mocking me
So I searched around a bit and realised that a few devices have had this, like the Blackjack or the Blue Angel. I also run into the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=274282&page=2
So I suppose something could be done by changing the priorities or decreasing the debounce delay/timeout. The thing is I have no idea of how to fiddle around with the registry.
If any of you tech savvies can have a look at that I'd be eternally grateful!

Interesting. Someone in there makes a comment about Pagepool. Maybe that's going to have an effect on it?
I'd really like to nail this once and for all. I'm running Custel's 2.1, and while the problem is improved, it's certainly not eliminated. I've found that not using PIE helps, weirdly.

I would also be sooo grateful if someone could fix this! im fed up of getting: Hello myn ame isj ason.
Driving me nuts!!!

my Kaiser+Any WM 6.1 = screen align. problem

Hello guys,
I don't post many threads with problems, but for this one i can't find any answer and this one seems really weird, cause it occurs ONLY on any version of 6.1.
So I have really bizzare screen alignment problem.
Sometimes when i tap screen with finger or stylus - it will tap not in the point where i want but about 4-7mm under the point. It never goes above the point - always under it. Sometimes it occurs time to time, but sometimes without stop. I don't know what's wrong.
I've tried different SPL's and Radios. I've done really really really many configurations with ROM+SPL+RADIO and nothing seems to resolve that problem.
This only occurs on 6.1 for me(every one). NEVER HAPPENED ON 6.0 ROM. Any.
Anyone have any suggestions? Is this a hardware problem? If so why i don't occurs in 6.0? If its software related, how to get rid of this?
Thanks,
Chris

I've done it already. I've played with every setting known by me.
Still doesnt work. I just flashed to 6.0. And again - there is no such issue.
Thanks for suggestion!
woot I'm no longer the only one with this! i set my sensitivity settings to Normal on kaiser tweak it's the best at reducing the frequency i can get it so far haven't found a 'fix' kinda given up only hope if t-mobile uk release their damn 6.1 rom so i can try and see if i can get the phone fixed or replaced via warranty. also it seems the problem is with the device not the roms im currently on the t-mobile 6.0 its has the same problem more noticeable when i set sensitivity > normal in kaiser tweak.
EDIT: something I've noticed is that maybe the sensitive part has moved away from the screen right now when at an angle i can see a 'large effect zone' like holding it towards the PC screen the tapping with a stylus and seeing the distortion of the reflection i would estimate it to be about 2 cm in radius from the point i touch the screen (maybe this is normal, people who don't have this problem see it you can see this) but I've seen it worse especially after taking it out of my pocket at the end of the day so i think heat my have damaged touch part causing it to expand and detach that would be body heat or heat from when the devices sometimes overheats when plugged in, anyway thats the only theory i can come up with

Thanks Infuruno for your suggestion. I think you have a good point in that disortion but there is one big difference in our problem, and I don't know why.
Its the WM version. Now I'm runnig 6.0 without any problem. Even if I want to do this - it never occurs. And I mean never!. I don't know what's wrong here
Anyway I'll soon try to buy the touch screen for Kaiser and change it.
Cheers,
Chris
6.0 seemed to have sensitivity set on normal by default while the 6.1 by default the sensitivity is set of high (> normal) at least looking at the official t-mobile 6.0 and every other 6.1 rom i've tested, and the touch screen thing is just a theory i came up while well literally as i posted that message just started putting things i've seen together maybe if someone who didn't have the problem could see if they got distortion before you buy a new touch screen.
I just got my Tilt (I came from the Sprint Touch) and I've noticed the same thing. I never used a 6.0 ROM, the guy I bought it from already had a 6.1 ROM on it and I flashed it to HyperDragon's PRO III ROM when I got it.
I was used to my Sprint Touch and it had a 6.1 ROM on it as well and didn't have a problem. It is very annoying if I try to use an onscreen keyboard for those times that I don't want to pull out the other one.
Done more tests.
Today I've installed new HyperDragon III Pro (great ROM ) and I still got that issue. After that - flashed Dutty's V4 RTM (6.0) - and you know what? It works just perfect.
I don't know wtf is wrong with that.
What happens when you set the screen sensitivity to normal using kaiser tweak on a 6.1 rom?

Hmm, nothing at all.
I've tried that every time. That doesn't work on that
Thanks!
This just sucks ass.... I really don't know what to do. I just flashed HD III Pro, Its great ROM, and I cannot use it cause of this ****ing screen thing.
Flashed back to random 6.0 --- no problems. Damnit!
Same problem for me, very hard to make a call
Changing the sensitivity seems to have helped it some for me. I still notice it but its not as bad as it was before.
In KaiserTweak I have Sensitivity and Finger Pressure both set to Normal.

I wonder then where is the problem? Maybe its a problem with some models of Kaiser?
I'm surprised there's not more people with this problem. Are you guys using an AT&T branded Tilt or HTC-branded, or other?
There's gotta be something in common with all of us.
What Hard-SPL version are you guys using that have the problem?
i have same problem
someday i flashed a new rom and i cant manage how to resolve this. i have that even on wm 6.0 roms. im setting up the sensitivity and it helps just locally, not fully at all. tried high sensitive on my friends kaiser and there is nothing worng with that.
i have tried many spls, but none of them seems to work
can anyone help with that?
i dont want to change my screen
ive tried many systems and spsl before, but never noticed this action.
please, somebody help with that.
I have an old Palm Tugsten T3 that started doing that, the way I fixed it was I went to the screen alignment page and clicked near the top of the bulls eye insted of the center of it, fixed it right up. try that and let me know how that works.

Gyrator in Bed

*minds out of the gutter*
I frequently use my phone in bed while lying down sideways (years of using my laptop in bed have made this so). This means that Gyrator gets completely screwed up because my head is sideways, giving no hope for the screen to be oriented the same way as my eyes. I usually have to move around a lot to get it to line up, or give up and sit up.
Is there a way to switch Gyrator, or your phone, to know that sideways is up for a temporary period of time? Does anyone else deal with this problem? Is this the most meaningless problem you've ever heard of? Is all this way too much information about my bed habits?
I have the same problem with Opera on my Fuze.... You are not alone, sir.
+1 Agreed
I uninstalled gyrator last night whilst in bed as it was annoying me so much.
I honestly thought I was the only one with this problem.
I ended up just using PIE for anything I wanted to read (which worked out since I mostly read short stories on websites)
I have not come across anything that might do what you're asking, and although I wasn't exactly looking for it I think it would have caught my eye.
If I find anything I'll let you know. Power to the bed-gyrators! (?)
Agreed. Uninstalled Gyrator for the same reason as yours.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465586
Get it and add exceptions to it for apps you use in bed
I think it might be easier to just crash Gyrator in bed. There are no apps I use exclusively why lying down.
Try playing Teeter while lying down sideways. It's a mess!
follow kraize's advice and install this alternative to gyrator. much easier to configure and has some diff settings that are def what ur looking for.
My wife loves her Gyrator, she uses it in the bed, at her desk at her office... I think she likes it too much......
+1 for Change Screen. I've been using it for 2 days and not 1 problem and very easy to customize.
Hahah, I totally have this same problem. But then, I don't think it bothers me enough to actually do anything about it. And it would annoy me more to have a switch an app on and off to change the behaviour.
Must...get...disappointed mind...out of.....gutter...
I like that I can set Gyrator to allow certain rotations, and not others, so that TouchFlo and the phone app only flip, but don't rotate. I believe I couldn't get that level of control with Change Screen.

This is a great question as I ran into the same exact problem. My issue started after I downloaded the "de Blob" game which allows you to "calibrate" the sensor based on the orientation of how you want to hold the phone during accelerometer based play. After doing so my auto rotate would turn at awkward times and I found that other games didn't respond appropriately. I tried going back and "re-calibrating" by laying the phone flat but that didn't work. What ended up working for me (as I could not find for the LIFE of me where the "calibrate" feature was in the settings) the "Bubble" app which is basically a level app that tells you if a surface is level. Once I calibrated in the Bubble app, I no longer had the issue. Needles to say I no longer use the accelerometer to play "de Blob" and have emailed him to let him know of the issue. (I haven't gotten a response) Hope this helps. I will be looking forward to other ideas on how to re-calbrate the sensor in case this happens again. I'm sure there is a easier way.
yea i tried the bubble app out and now my gsensor is not working at all no matter what direction i put it in the gsensor does not respond
Really? Sorry man. Worked for me. You may need to start from scratch by wiping your phone and reflashing your ROM
The same problem
Hi are you have some solution. My G-sensor didn't respond too.

They recommend you to mahe "8" signs with your phone in hand (twist it in all direction) because the sensor recalibrates that way. This is othe official advice.
Calibrating with the bubble app should work too. If not - alt+w
I have got the G-Sensor.
From Recovery
backup
Alt+W - delete all
and update to CM last stable
No joke, try shaking your g1 around kind of hard, it might be stuck. Reset it again after that and see what happens, worth a shot.
may sound daft, but have you tried this solution?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4424396&#post4424396
it is a quick fix for auto rotate issues, not a permanent solution, but it may help as auto rotate is accellerometer based, as are all the apps you're trying to use
if it works, thanks go to MikeTaylor00, not me, i'm merely a messenger

Best way to fix keyboard repeates without taking apart?

Im sure a fair number of you will have experienced the same thing where you press a key once and you get like 3 of that letter and sometimes for me the Fn key doesnt work too well either
i've tried like swirling the keys around to move dust etc but it didnt help
maybe i should just send it back? becuase its really annoying
I also have this problem sometimes. Thought it might be a software problem or so, but maybe you are right and particles are collecting there.
Did someone try that on X1?
Well, if there was such a solution I wouldn't have to send my X1 to the service centre. And just delaying it as much as possible, but given that my warranty ends next week, I'd probably have to go down soon. And anyway, it's not just repeats that I'm facing. Sometimes it's the other way round, as in the keyboard not responding unless I press the key down real hard.

just tried, and seems to work! thanks
settings-personal-buttons-up/down control
delay before first repeat set to long
repeat rate 3 from fast
works good!
I'd say it works about 80-90%. It does save the X1 from the trash piles, so kudos to the friendly guy who dug up the solution, and no kudos to SE and/or MS who can't think of fine-tuning the keyboard settings before they ship a product that was $800-900 unlocked at launch.
Caveat and an inappropriate rant: I remember doing so much research, and everyone across so many different forums said a hardware keyboard is the way to go if you do a lot of texting. Not true. I find that hardware keyboards require a lot of efforts to press compared to a virtual keyboard, even worse if it's not spaciously laid out, and even worse if, unlike the X1, the positioning of the keys relative to each other is off.
Truth is I type even faster on an iPhone/ipod touch than an X1, without feeling like an RSI is coming on, and it's not because of predictive text entry. It's because my thumbs can use a lot less force on the keys. I believe most people still press way too hard on a touch screen trying to be control freaks.
So the keyboard may be 80-90% improved, but I've got my budget ready for an iPhone. And no more listening, no more being open to suggestions!

Well, I don't want to live without h/w keyboard anymore. And I did a fast typing challenge against an iPhone and won. The guy who wrote on that iPhone was a real freak, had an iPhone since it came out and types really fast...but I love the h/w keyboard on the xperia. If it would not have this double-letter error I would love it even more...Now I'm going to fix it with the solution mentioned above. Thanks!
I just want to add one thing...
The reason I say the fix is 80-90%, is because I think CPU speed and/or power settings might contribute somewhat to the keyboard issue. Once last week, I had the phone plugged into AC, and the keyboard suddenly became free of issues, and responded properly to my typical typing efforts.
Using nueCPL-ClockSpeed v1.3 in an unscientific test, the keyboard produces more mistakes on a lower speed (384MHz), but its Max Performance setting didn't exactly reproduce the AC power remedy.
This is not a very stringent observation at all, but since I am stuck with the X1 for a while, I'll keep on trying I'm betting that the next iPhone will be a significant update, so I have to hold off the purchase for now... and kiss NRGZ28's toes for his rom's.

Is anyone working on a fix for the appalling 8.9 touchscreen sensitivity?

I know that there is the build prop "fix" which helps slightly (changing one of the values from the default 150 to 300 - can't remember which but you'll find it with a Google around). However, I was wondering if anyone is working on the touchscreen of the 8.9, or has any ideas on improving response sufficiently so that handwriting is feasible.
It seems that there is some kind of filter that disregards small movements - you can demo this but putting your finger down on the desktop and wiggling it from left to right about 2mm or so. I'd expect to see the screen "wiggle" slightly, part scrolling from left to right. Instead after a few seconds it responds as if you have held your finger down motionless. This is the issue that makes handwriting impossible.
On the 10.1 there is the app and discussion thread TouchScreenTune which fixes all of this. I have tried it on my 8.9 but no joy - but I can't imagine there is much in the way of difference between the two devices, and reckon that the 10.1 fixes could easily be applied to the 8.9 if someone with a bit of knowledge applied themselves (that's not me, unfortunately)

it seems unlikely:
- I don't have the device
- it uses different touch controller than 10.1
- kernel doesn't support configurable parameters for 8.9

being very upset with this problem i started poking around the build.prop
it might be placebo but i feel that when this is added:
Code:

it gets a little more responsive. still not what i want it to be but better than before.
Try Touchscreen booster
It seems to have helped mine.

hi everybody
I'd like to try to find some answer to the annoying problem of the touch filtering.
I've been searching around the internet for days, I've also asked the author of TST but with no luck till now.
Is there anybody that knows or can address me to how this problem can be solved? I don't think it's just a hardware problem, but a software one.
I'm also willingly to write to Samsung directly, so wish me good luck.
If I'm not gonna find a way to do this in a couple of weeks, I'm quite sure I'm gonna sell this beautiful black useless brick to an iPad.

Hmm, is it really a sensitivity issue? If I swipe first then wiggle like you mention, the screen will wiggle slightly. It sounds like there is a threshold to switch from holding the finger down motionless, to scrolling from left to right.
Perhaps a threshold setting (if available) is sufficient to overcome this?
I'm noticing the samething. When I first saw this thread I thought everyone was crazy but after trying to type large amounts of text I've found it incredibly unresponsive in landscape mode (though portrait feels perfect!). I'm eagerly waiting for the official ICS update as in hoping it'll fix some of these issues.
It would be nice if they at least updated us to 3.2.

Btw no answer yet from Samsung, and yes, the problem is just about some sort of accidental touch filter
