Greets,
Having searched the forum for "reprogram internet explorer button" and "reprogram IE button" I figured I should take the leap and ask the question ...
I have Opera Mini set up, using the LNK "hack". Does anyone know if the Tilt Hard-Button for IE can be reprogrammed to run Opera instead of PIE?
Thanks!

I don't know what the LNK hack is but by default the answer would be no as to be able to be assigned to a program shortcut in your start menu. Now, if the LNK hack is some sort of way to create a shortcut that opens Java Midlet Manager, then opens the Opera Java app, then you could possibly get the button remapped. What is the LNK hack?
Yes ... so how do I map?
Your second alternative is correct - it is a LNK file which runs the midlet, then runs opera, without the inquiries as to connection, etc. Tapping it simply has opera ready to go.
... and I have it remapped - THANKS!

no problem....
Remapping the IE button for automatically opening the midlet manager, then opera...
How? Your email says to do it, and someone replies thanks... but HOW do you do it?
If you have a .lnk to OperaMini, just go to settings -> buttons, and assign button 1, the IE button to OperaMini.
Exactly
... sorry about that ...
yes - ZebProctor is absolutely correct. Opera will be one your remapping choices in the button reassignment.

I would like to open Opera Mini when clicking on a Link in Ilium Newsreader (or similair RSS prog) instead of IE. Is it possible?
It cannot be done. It is a Java midlet.
The best you can do is to put "Java" in the Start menu & be able to access it from the Today screen.

You can also map the "e" button to Opera.

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...n use Opera Mini as the system-level browser!
what about copy paste functionality in opera mini?
does mort have this?
tvos
well... actually there is a copy/paste option in opera mini straight after instalation. select what You want to copy, open onscreen keyboard and press ctl (ctrl for resco kbd) and c. to paste ctl + v.
is that cool or what?
br
bro
I'll have to look at this a little more.
I didn't see any options during the install that allowed copy/paste option.
Since I have the pocket pc at&t tilt, I used the generic opera mini download. Does each version matter? Opera didn't list the carrier/provider for the device, hence my generic selection.

The copy / cut / paste has nothing to do with the inherent Opera install. If you are in Outlook or whatever, highlight what you want to copy, click copy. Open Opera the open the enter web address dialog, open the on screen keyboard and click ctrl and then v and the copied stuff will be pasted!
As far as I know you cannot copy from Opera to something else.
yah, I have done that before w/no problems, but its copying text in opera mini that is not functional.
thank you,
tvos
hmm...
I am having real difficulties understanding some of the posters in here. :/
look: You CAN copy/paste to/from opera mini.
tutorial:
part 1- copy
to copy text- select it with stylus, open onscreen keyboard (standard qwerty should work best), press CTL button and after that press C
to copy current address- go to web page You want to open somewhere else, press left softkey (menu) and choose "enter address", press right softkey (menu) and choose "current address", copy displayed address as text above.
part 2- paste
in pocket internet explorer or in most other apps hold stylus for few seconds in address bar or wherever You want the text to be pasted and select "paste" from menu.
to paste anything into opera select the place You want paste into and from onscreen keyboard press "ctl" then "V".
if You shall still have any questions how to those... then I cannot help You more. I won't post any screenshots, I will not record any video. damn. I just cannot be clear mo on this.
:/

bro
bronx,
I appreciate the info - copy/paste is basic common sense of functionality.
Anyways, opera mini does not allow me to copy text by highligting with the stylius. I am able to activate the virtual keyboard to enter text by typing, but to copy text using ctrl-c and highliteing is not a option.
I have been messing with Opera 8.6.5 and its not bad. Just would like to use the same gui as Opera Mini in 8.6.5
Is there a way to remove the scroll bars completely in 8.6.5 and to force full screen all the time?

Made this cab to add the Opera icon to your Opera Mini shortcut under programs.
I got sick of looking at the generic Esmertec Jbed icon, and feel this is a more polished solution.
I'm running Open Touch V3 which came with Opera Mini already loaded, so this cab may or not work for your specific rom, but it can be easily uninstalled if it doesnt work for you. YMMV
If it does work on your rom please confirm here, Thanks!
Very Nice. Thank You!
Totally awesome... was thinking about doing the same thing!!!
Now this is definetely an ELEGANT solution! Thanks a lot!!!!!!
You should do the same thing for the GMAIL app
I started looking into the whole icon thing once, but ended up not following thru with it... so awesome you got it working.

Can you send me the gmail link file, and i will look into it.
Works great on my wing! Im currently running Open Touch 4.0 Lite. Thanks!
Wow, this is just awesome. Thanks alot
Next step... how to associate url files with Opera Mini
the formula...
I tried to register Opera Mini as the default program to open url files. I used the following command line:
"\Storage Card\Program Files\Esmertec Java\jbed.exe" -run s0_ ?\Windows\operal.exe,-0 "%1" which is basically your shortcut with an additional %1 (open file). Of course it didn't work.
Any suggestions?
And again... thanks for the cab. It finally made Opera Mini my default Browser!
thanks - works great on AT&T Tilt!

JZ SmartMort v1.4 Released!
Announcing JZ SmartMort v1.4!
Now you can use JZ SmartMort to create Opera Mini and any other JBed application icon on your Start Menu!
Have a look at the screenshots of JZ SmartMort, available HERE or at SourceForge. Below are the prominent features that the software offers.
Copy / Paste
Clipboard / URL history
Multi-browser (Opera Mini, Opera Mobile, NetFront, Skyfire, Internet Explorer)
Make any installed browser system-level, where it opens links from anywhere. Ability to have a default browser (with a special timeout in case you want to open a link with a non-default browser).
Hardware buttons - supports Pocket PCs & SmartPhones for advanced hardware button mapping.
Opera Mini - shortcut on the Start Menu, different paste & URL handling methods to accommodate different phones.
JBed - create Start Menu shortcuts for any JBed app, run JBed App directly using JZ SmartMort, troubleshoot your JBed installation.
Ability to open synced Mobile Favorites with any browser, process killing and many other interesting features.
Includes general tweaks and hacks which will keep growing
Revisions:
v1.4 *** 2008-07-07
- Created help files.
- Browser: Skyfire fully compatible now, new scan/detection with fail-over paths (if browsers references don't exist in the usual locations like the registry). If default browser timeout is set to zero, the JZ Browser prompt will be bypassed entirely.
- Opera Mini: full-screen, kill JBed option, multiple URL & pasting options.
- Lots of new options for button mapping. All known registry and link file button hacks now integrated to allow virtually any command to be called up. Also provides ability to create a CUSTOM link file from scratch.
- Changed menus to include menu-returns for easy navigation and better user friendliness. Added letters to Action menu as qwerty keyboard shortcuts.
- Phone-specific menu under JZ Settings which expands button mapping for BlackJack II (Samsung i617) CV/MediaNet buttons, as well as, AT&T Tilt (HTC Kaiser) PTT & Long-PTT buttons. More will be added.
- Creation of Start Menu shortcuts & opening of JBed applications w/o needing to open JBed first.
- 3 different methods under JZ Settings > JZ Misc. Options for opening Favorites. Save a Favorite from the JZ Browser script when you pop a link.
- Incorporated VitoCopyPaste with a timeout to return your directional pad action button back to normal.
- Various speed & optimization considerations incorporated.
- Function to deal with MortScript losing focus (e.g. when Home is pressed while Mort choice menu is running).
thanx a lot!!

Very Cool, how to determine the "CLASS NAME"?
I would like to force the scroll wheel in MobiPocket Reader.
I'm using Gsen for it, Gsen config shows you the class name of every running app...
edit:
Just found: this one
Maybe it works, I didn't try it.
regards
Perfect, thanks alot man. installed it with resco registery editor. works perfect. you rule!!!!
I am expierincing some problems when converting to a CAB file.
Everything goes fine, but if you soft reset the device(with the reset button or with a program) it just don't save the registry entries. BUT when i power off the device with the power button, than the registery changes are saved.
same story when uninstalling the CAB files...after uninstalling teh device must be restarted, but with the reset button it does not uninstall the reg settings, but if I'm power off the device it will be uninstalled.
So if anyone knows the solution for this, I will make the cabs, otherwise it seems for me to buggy to make cabs in this way
And the other hand: it will be more usefull if any developer could write an apllication to toggle the programs for scroll wheel use. But I simply can't.
BTW: nice find, in this way the scrollwheel is more usefull instead of never using it!

Yep, AdvancedCinfig supports a very simple xml format that will handle this perfectly. All explained here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367043
We can compile a HUGE database of apps in 1 XML! Anyone prepared to manage the master XML rather than have multiple ones? I think whoever moves fastest on a big one should become the de-facto master that we all support.

A work around is to use something like PhoneAlarm, you can have "profiles" set up so when you activate say "home" profile with either time/location/manual it can switch on wifi and run opera together.
I personally use this as my home screen and use both timed profiles and outlook items/tasks/appointments to switch. see sreenshot
Can run any program ie switch to car, turn on bluetooth, run tomtom etc.
works for me

you will need to go download the phonealarm and install it on your phone, it's not a built in feature of WM.
You need mortscript - google it.

mortscript looks good!
do you know how to use it for that ?

thanks dude, i will install it right now
Download wirelesstoggle from here.
http://www.smartmadsoft.com/downloads.html
Copy the exe to \program files\wirelesstoggle
A very simple script would be:
Code:
Run( "\program files\wirelesstoggle\wirelesstoggle.exe" )
sleep 250
Run( "\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\Opera Browser.lnk" )
Thats obviously the simplest version. A more complicated version would check if WIFI is already on before running the wirelesstoggle.exe.
Surur
big surur !
How do i make that script easily?
perhaps without mortscript.
any clue?
