Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone had any tips as far as getting the pim file back into the root directory of the phone.
It keeps the file in use when the phone is on and I'm unable to copy it.
Unfortunately when the phone is off I can't see it connected any more via USB.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Anyone know how to copy the file on device boot maybe?
Don't know but I can copy the pim file to my MC and back without any problems.

Hello.
I have a backup.stg file on my PC and I need to restore it over my v1620. But the problem is that some files can't be restored, because they should be in use, I suppose, when I try it with ActiveSync. Some of these files are in "Databases" folder, the more important for me is the Contacts Database. I can't recover contacts.
I try to recover just after switching on the PDA (no open any program), but these files are in use.
Somebody can help me to recover them? Thanks.
MobileVault
I try with MobileVault, and it works!
Hello,
I just bought the new HTC Touch Diamond today from Telus Mobility (My Provider) and when I put on a program to install and try to open the .cab file in the File Explorer, it tries to open it in Opera Mobile and I cannot install the program.
I am using ActiveSync to transfer the files from my computer to the Internal Storage area of my phone, then I find the files using the File Explorer on the phone, click the .cab file and it tries to open it in Opera Mobile.
Anyone have any ideas?
P.S. I just tried a Soft Reset, and that didn't help.
Thanks in advance!!
Try to manually rename the files to "whatever.CAB." Add .cab to it and see if that'll get it working.
Hmm..
Okay, I tried that and it didn't work.
I am trying to install a program and the files it has is:
_setup - XML Document (I click on that to activate install?)
ADVANC~1.000
ADVANC~1
ADVANC~1.003
ADVANC~1.004
ADVANC~2.002
Hope this helps..
(Yes, I realize it's not a cab file >.< )
After reviewing the situation over. You are NOT supposed to extract the files, then put them on your phone. Leave them in the archive (.cab file), upload to your phone and then execute it.
It should start installing right away.
Hope this helps for anyone else!!
I've managed to brick my Galaxy trying a lag fix. However, I still seem to be able to connect to the phone using ADB. I have been able to 'pull' some files from the system folder onto my c drive so I'm hoping I can get some pictures off it.
Can someone please help me with the standard folder structure on the internal card. I need to know what the picture folder is called.
Cheers,
Matt
Found it after a bit of looking:
/sdcard/dcim/camera
Managed to recovery all my pictures. Will make I back my files before I start messing about with it again.
Could someone please upload their entire preinstall/app folder from 905 for me? Safestrap hosed mine and now the ICS update won't install.
Much appreciated!
No one? Come on.
I had the same issue, but I just bit the bullet and took the long route by reverting back to 902.
Had the same problem but you can save yourself a TON of time by doing the following:
1. download the Zumocast apk from Play or anywhere on the internet really
2. move the com.motorola.zumocast.apk file to the preinstall/apps folder using your favorite root file explorer
3. rename the file com.motorola.zumocast by just deleting the ".apk" part
I don't even know if it has to be the zumocast apk or if it's just looking for the file name. Hope this solves your problem because it fixed mine.
Yeah I figured it out, the name change worked. Thanks anyway.
Hello friends,
Thanks for sharing your information, Really I am highly appreciated here.
Best regards
Nicholas
Is there anyway to possible open this backup file with a program. I no longer have an htc phone, but I would like to retrieve some old contacts and sms messages. When I open the folder, the files have no association, it just says file. They are are also oddly names like "1a0c21af-b4f3-4927-bae2-e05fadbd901b". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

This is really complicated if you dont have access to a HTC device anymore. But there is a way if you are able to do that or you know someone who can... http://blog.interrupt3h.com/?p=328 What is written on this page is for restoring mp3 files out of the HTC backup, but it should work for every file. Just read it
