Hi all,
My 3 Australia Rom (1.81.861.0) includes internet links in the default ROM Launcher tab of the Home plugin.
In the Windows folder, are some files which relate to the shortcuts, such as My 3.lnk and My 3_smooth.png which relate to the shortcut and the icon.
I cant work out how to modify these links though, nor can I work out how to move them to different spots on the launcher, if you delete them, they are not in the list of programs which you can select from again.
Can anyone help out with working out how to modify the launcher? Programs such as HTC Home Customiser and Advanced Config also dont show links as able to select for the Launcher tab.

I am new so i cant post a screen shot or link. so i will post a partial link so u can see a screenie of the app i am referring to.
http: //img710.imageshack.us/img710/9325/dsc01809l .jpg
to view the link u need to remove the space between "http: //" and at the end " .img"
Thanks for any responses to help with the matter.
BTW i am using the sprint htc hero rooted 2.1.
Use ADW launcher or launcherpro, they both have the option to remove icon text
Select something along the lines of "Hide icon lables" under preferences
I think BetterCut in the market lets you as well, then you won't loose sense if you are attached to it.
*crap wrong section, mod plz move, sry all*
Is anyone else seeing this? Its fully rooted, everything works perfect, but Ive tried 4 different launchers now, and all of them crash the home screen (screen goes black after hitting "create/addshortcut", then resets to the home screen) when I create a shortcut.
I can put everything on the desktop other than shortcuts.
I first noticed it with LauncherPro when I was trying to change shortcuts on the toolbar (to get rid of the phone, contacts, etc) and every time I would try to change it, it would crash, but I was able to change the icon.
GDE is so far the only one that allows me to change icons on the tool bar, but still crashes if I try to add anything to the desktop.
I hope its something stupid Im missing, although, I have found ways around it, its jsut something thats botherin me like a pebble in my shoe lol
Well there is something missing on the NOOK that prevents this from happening. No home app will bring it back. I think the missing component is called "picker" or something like that and just like the market and other Gapps, someone will have to figure out how to add it.
Ah ok, as long as its something thats not working as intended. I must of missed it reading along here somewhere. I did find a way around it with Zeam and App organizer
Zeam allows you to drag icons to your tool bar, then you can drag them from the tool bar to the desktop with no crashing.
And app organizer allows Widgets that act as folders to be created, and widgets have no problem being added
Or you can just hold onto the program icon for a few secs and that will alow you to drag it the desktop.

Click to collapse
I'm able to drag apps straight from the app drawer to the desktop with Zeam. Perhaps you're talking about something else though.
I found a work around for this. Since I've seen the question brought up every few days, I'll make a wiki article on this as well.
Requirements:
Desktop Visualizer: http://www.appbrain.com/app/desktop-visualizer/jp.co.bii.android.app.dskvzr
Icons for the shortcut you're making [not necessarily required, you can pick an existing app and use that apps icon for the shortcut as well]
Steps:
1. Long press desktop on launcher of choice
2. Add widget
3. Pick the desired widget size from the Desktop Visualizer options
4. Set your icon in Desktop Visualizer
5. Hit the Select Action button in Desktop Visualizer
6. Hit 'Other'
7. The menu you're now at should have the options that would normally be accessible from the shortcuts menu
8. Find the shortcut, finish up in DV, and voila, you're done.
Great tip, thanks ! Used it to toggle WiFi AdHoc/WiFi AP
Proxy Settings are not available
All shortcuts except the Proxy Settings shortcut are available.
Does that mean there is a way to access the WiFi settings directly ? Can only toggle so far.
Hey guys, im just posting a little help thread for thos who want a 2.3 looking device!
Needed:
Launcher Pro
GingerBread Icons
Launcher Pro can be found in the App market, as for the icons, i have found a Rar pack, containing many icons.
head over here and download the Rar!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870691
after the download, move these to anywhere on your SD Card.
Longpress the shortcut on the Launcher Pro Dock, select change icon, it will prompt you to select a photo, select which one corresponds with your shortcut.
**NOTE** The App Drawer Icon Is Included In This Package
So I have rooted and autonootererered. I have Zeam launcher up and running. No issues.
However, when I long press and try to add a shortcut, it just jumps back to the screen. Nothing happens. I can however add icons to desktop through app list by long pressing.
Also, I would much prefer Launcher Pro as I already paid for it for my EVO. However, I cannot seem to change the icons (phone icon, etc) Want to use it for widget purposes, but dont want inactive icons such as phone and contacts sitting on the dock...
Is there a workaround for this?
These are known issues. There are multiple options that can be found by searching the forum.
1. open the app drawer press and hold on the app you want an icon on the homescreen. you will be able to drag it to the homescreen
2. edit your launcher pro settings on your phone, back up and restore on your nook. (search the forum, i think someone has a blank backup or something.
I can't get any live wallpapers to work. I'm 99% sure it's my fault.
Problem:
I download a live wallpaper (eg Multipicture Live Wallpaper) from the market. It downloads fine, and appears in my app drawer. However, when I try to select a wallpaper (longpress screen -> wallpapers), the only options I get are "Gallery" and "Wallpaper Gallery". There is no "Live Wallpapers" option.
Background:
I believe that my Note was the Netherlands version, came with some apps that I didn't want (Buddies Now, Digilezen, Samsung 3M widget, etc).
My Note is rooted, and I installed Titanium Backup. I did delete some of the things in this list, using Titanium Backup and an apk list that I found (forum won't let me post the link to the list as I haven't posted 8 times).
I didn't do a backup or backup anything I deleted (stupid, I know).
I suspect that I removed an apk that is required for getting Live Wallpapers to work.
As a test, I've tried installing an apk using Astro as well as ES File Explorer, (Buddies Now - I know I definitely removed this one) and neither program could install it.
Questions:
1) Can I re-install the apk that I removed?
2) Which apk is needed for Live Wallpapers?
3) If I can't install the apk using Astro or ES File Explorer, can someone recommend another method?
Thanks.
If you're trying to use a live wallpaper on the default launcher. you're doing it wrong.
Press the 'menu' button when on the desktop (thats the bottom left button on your device) then press 'Wallpaper' then 'Live wallpaper' It should appear there. Good luck
are you sure you didnt remove the livewallpapers apk?
I agreed with the above answers.
1. Recheck the "Live wallpapper" by: On the home screen, press hard menu key, sellect Wallpapper --> Live wallpapper -> Choose 1 suitable one.
2. If #1 not work, maybe you have uninstalled/disabled file "LiveWallpapersPicker.apk"
Try to find on web the file for Galaxy Note and test if it works, ex:

Some live wallpapers nt working... Reboot phn... It will work if u hv nt removed any apk..
