I can't seem to get htc streaming media to work on my tilt
I've intalled clean ROMs. then put the streaming media files over. this usually ended up with a sdkcerts type error when running the exe, and the javascript and flash out of date in PIE.
I then flashed shaps full ROM which has streaming media installed already.
this lets me load up the streaming media exe just fine. haven't tried opening anything in that yet. no untrusted error. but PIE still gives me the javascript and flash error and no video. I've grabbed sdkcerts.cab from duttys repository, and still nothing.
has anyone got this runing on a tilt yet?
does anyone have any ideas on how to get it running or what I need to do short of buying a TyTN?

1. I've explained why S.M. doesn't run on some ROM's in my article in the first bullet of the "UPDATE (06/29/2007)" section at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=2045&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
2. you must go to http://m.youtube.com/ , NOT the traditional YouTube page
you gotta get the tcmp install package... i had to install 3 things...
m.youtube.com is for lame-o iphones
youtube.com is working with i.e. and tcpmp
fyi, i have a tilt and i do NOT use the streaming media to view youtube.com. i use tcpmp

Other people with the same ROM have it running fine with no changes. I did a hard reset with this rom and it still gives me the javascript error
just for a test, I followed the links in your article and tried installing the available links and it still doesnt work.
So far, the people that have said that it's running fine for them are TyTNs, not tilts. but with the same ROM as I am running. So something about my phone being a Tilt is making this not run.

I've got tcpmp running great with ytpocket. I consider myself a bit of an expert on it now hahha.
What I dont have running is htc streaming media on my Tilt. and I havent seen anyone post that they do have it running on a tilt, regardless of rom.
The reason that I want this is for non youtube sites.
This (not work safe, but fully clothed) video, for example, plays just fine on my friends TyTN, but wont play on my Tilt
http://www.livevideo.com/media/playvideo_fs.aspx?fs=1&cid=80F6C6492B334402A9F98361628D06C5
Will that one play on your phone? in PIE?
you could also use www.veohgopckt.com and www.ytpocket.com to stream them to tcpmp.all you need to do is install the FlashVideo plugin.
try these cabs... this is all you should need to install to get the "real" youtube to work

Hi All,
I have been using YOUTUBE on my HTC TYTN II since last two months through FlashVideoBundle.CAB and TCMP and it was working flawlessly until I checked yesterday.
Now I am not able to see any videos on www.ytpocket.com and moreover when I go to main www.youtube.com and click on a video and say either save or play it shows me error message “youtube swf args not found”.
Please help me to sort out this problem.
Thanks.

Hi, Thanks for prompt reply....
Are you sure it will not screw any existing applications as i was able to stream youtube before and apart from youtube i am still able to stream videos from other websites like goggle videos, VEOH videos, DIVX STAGE6 videos etc...
It is just a concern.....
Thanks for your help
Not sure about that, guess you'll just have to try and find out.
Just out of curiosity, how do you stream vids from stage6? Is there a plugin or a certain player for that?

I use TCMP and FlashVideoBundle for Stage 6, Just you need to associate divx files with TCMP.
Just as additional information, in the event that someone had the same problem as me.
I had problems through wifi where it failed to connect.
The phone had defaulted to trying to connect through "My ISP" in the streaming media app options. To get it working through wifi, just change the option to connect through "The Internet" and it goes for the wifi rather than the phone network (which I have disabled with Modaco".
I just tried m.youtube.com and everything works as usual. I use HTC Streaming Media, it intergrates with browser perfectly. You can find a cab floating somewhere on the forum.
Sorry to hijack the thread man, but I thought it might be better not to open a new one for a very similar problem.
I had to hard reset my device yesterday and then I've installed everything back.
Now youtube doesn't work as it is supposed to. When I'm watching a stream in landscape mode and I want to see it full screen, it rotates back to portrait.
Before the hard reset it was working just fine. What could it be?
Thanks.
The ROMeOS Rom works very well with YouTube. If you want to try it here it is, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406346. It as actually a very good, stable, and fast Rom. It is on the Lite side and an excellent base to add just what you want in your Rom.
hey guys, ive been reading ur treads and everything. i got all necesarry files on my phone to play youtube videos. but, when i enter any of the youtube pages u gave links to. and wanna open a film to se it. i get this message could not find the network.(the film always open in the phones media player)
can this be the problem? i dunno how to fix it. so a little help would be great
I have searched the site and found a bunch of threads on viewing you tube vids, however there are so many post edits etc. that I can't follow which .cab etc we are supposed to be using.
I have downloaded that TCMP and the new version of flashget but still no luck.
Can someone that has a tilt please post what they are using and if it works on this thread - many thanks!!!!
I simply go the mobile version of you tube (m.ca.youtube.com). When I click on a video link the HTC Streaming application (which came with my Kaiser) starts up and plays the video. That simple.
Two notes, however;
1) Over my WiFi connection I need to configure my wifi router to put my Kaiser in the "DMZ - Demilitarized Zone" so as to allow full access to the internet. Otherwise the RTSP streaming fails and the HTC Streaming application complains about an inability to access the connection.
2) Streaming doesn't work over GPRS for me. This is most likely due to my cell phone carrier not allowing full internet access (much like when I don't have my WiFi router configured to put my Kaiser in the DMZ).
To use the "proper" YouTube, as opposed to the mobile version, you need these two .cabs:

I have both of these intstalled with duttys rom ver 4 and I still get the "failed to find network" error in streaming media when using 3g att or wifi. I used to have no problem streaming vids (besides it being really slow and chopy) over att when I was using an older duttys touchflo 6 for att.
I searched too but all I found was some blurbs about youtube changing addressed and wifi in DMZ mode (which neither seemed to apply)
but I am a tard so who knows...

ah, try using internet explorer
Follow these steps & pay attention...
Dude, Seriously...You may have read the thread, but you really need to pay attention to what you read. FLASHGET??? FLASH LITE??? Both of these have NO IMPACT on playing flash video.
What you need is:
(A) TCPMP either .72 or .81 (You said you have)
(B) FlasVideoBundle
Instal This:
http://rapidshare.com/files/87945596/FlashVideoBundle.CAB
After installing, make sure that the following files were all copied to the TCPMP root directory (i.e. For .72 \Programs\TCPMP or \Storage Card\Programs\TCPMP or for .81 \Programs\TCPMP\Player):
DiagVL.exe
DisableVL.exe
flvffmpeg.plg
flvsplitter.plg
MenuToggle.exe
VideoLoader.dll
These files must be in the TCPMP directory! It should do it automatically if you use .72. However, for .81 you must copy the files by hand.
After insuring the files have been coppied to the right directory, then launch TCPMP & go to preferences & set the file associations for the flash video, i.e. flv)
Note: without the current version of FlashBundle Youtube will no longer work. I have attached the most current version to the link above.
AND YES, you must use either PIE or (OPERA Mobile 8.65 (NOT MINI) with the macromedia flash player 7).

Dude, excuse the hell out of me...when neither the TCPMP and flashvideo bundle worked - someone suggested flash lite so I installed that as well...I don't think I EVER read where you couldn't use opera mini - thank you to you guys for pointing that out. I will try what you just posted, thanks for taking the time to help someone who obviously "didn't pay attention to what I read"
I can provide some insight, although I really new at this. I installed both cabs and can view all youtube videos through a portal site called ytpocket.com, using the search field at the top. This does not address the larger issue of how to play streaming flash videos from other websites. Specifically, on real youtube, I get the error message "youtube swf args not found" and the title bar of the error message is "VideoLoader." I have no idea what this means.
I also can't get the m.youtube.com site to play videos becuase the Real Player doesn't recognize 3gp files, and my attempts to associate these files with TCMP have apparently failed.
Hope this helps and hope someone smarter than me can solve these two problems! Thanks all.
dt, for the mobile youtube, install htc streaming media
I need help with youtube/TCPMP 0.72RC1 with flashflv and also youtube player. I also tried the WM6.1 TCPMP install from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367070
Both duttys newst ROM and L26 ROM are giving me troubles with youtube.
Whenever I load a video, it will show the first frame, and then nothing else. It wont play. I have a tilt. With older ROMs it worked just fine. I could be wrong, but it seems that since the ROMs started using wm6.1 I've got this error.
I know other people have it running fine. I know other people are having the same problem as I am.
I install a ROM.
Install tomtom. works great.
Updated my contacts with Active Sync.
Went to ytpocket.com and pulled up a video and it loaded WMP and didnt work.
So I downloaded TCPMP 0.72RC1 and TCPMP FLV Plugin from ytpocket.com
changed file associations to include flash and mms
changed these settings
-Normal buffer size: 1148KB
-Preload at underrun: 5%
-Preload for audio: 64KB
changed it to run at start and in full screen.
Rebooted.
Still freezes on first frame. Program still responds. just movie doesnt play.
Tried different clips.
i'm stuck
bump
anyone?
mhm i have dutty 6.1 hybrid and it work fine havent ran in to any issue with youtube i dono why your having the problem do you hear the sound tho atleast ???
Using dutty's latest rom here, and I'm having no problems at all with this app here
It doesn't have the ability to search or play the other video sites, but as far as youtube goes, this app is superior.
Today I just got Youtube working for the first time in my life with the TyTN2
With L26's Diamond V3, connected with WiFi (I don't use GPRS/3GP)
Not with TCPMP, just clicking a link in PIE, opens the video with Streaming Media player..
Only thing I changed was options > connect via: The internet in Streaming Media
I finally got it working with some hard work on my part on L26 v4 ROM. Posted the solution in th l26 v4 rom thread.
lots of ppl are having this issue. glad i could fix it.
try youtubeplay i use that now to watch youtube vids instead of TCPMP
I have flashed every rom that dutty made. And all of them supported Youtube. I watch a lot.

Check out this site to watch Youtube videos (and other videos from around the net). I have tried programs to make Youtube work, but it won't. I found this search site which I can finally watch videos. Does any one else Know any sites where you can do this?
The mobile site is at m.vtap.com (they have a regular web based site at vtap.com too).

What build of Opera 9.5 do you have? I have build 1957 and flashlite 3.1 and it doesn't seem to work on youtube. Thanks.
My Tilt plays youtube videos just fine, and on the regular website, not the mobile one.
I use PIE, have TCPMP with the flash media bundle installed within TCPMP's directory.
When I click on a video, TCPMP asks to play or save the videos... and it works perfectly. My Tilt came with the offical 6.1, I hard reset the ROM and got rid of the bloatware. It's easy.
I wonder if m.vtap.com works with my setup?

I've just tried a app. called Fewidget it needed flash player 7 to work. After installing FP 7 youtube stopped working on Opera. Even uninstallation of Flash Player 7 didn't help. I had to soft reset to get it working again...so maybe you have or had flash player 7 installed on your phone?
Yes, I've searched and searched, this forum and others and can't seem to get this to work. I've installed the Flash Bundle and TCPMP, in the same place and neither IE or Opera 9 will stream even youtube mobile videos. What am I doing wrong?
BTW, stock ATT tilt WM 6.1
Thanks
Google youtube play
its an awesome program that allows you to play videos as well as save them and convert them into audio files which is pretty sweet for ringtones
haha
Oh and if you really want it browser style try skyfires new browser
opera mobile 9.5 is still in beta and does not currently support video
Or flash the latest official HTC WM6.1 ROM. It is the STREAMING MEDIA PLAYER integrated and works without additional configuration even through Pocket IE.
download skyfire browser and you should be able to view youtube videos with no probs or any video

I flashed the latest official HTC WM6.1 ROM as soon as it was released from AT&T a couple months ago, and still nothing (not PIE not Opera, not Iris) will stream video for me except Skyfire.
Just a quick question... did you do a soft reset?
If so and it still doesn't work then unistall your tcpmp and flashbundle.
I was having the same problems until I installed this combination of cabs.
1 TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB

Obviously, install to the same location, soft reset and let the videos begin. To see applicable websites go to start\programs\video sites.html
Hope this works for you.
a solution if you're willing to pay a bit
I used TCPMP with the flash bundle with no problem for WM 6.0, but started having trouble with the 6.1 version as well. My solution... go with the upgraded version of TCPMP (CorePlayer). Yes, you have to pay for it, but it can allow for direct search/play of Youtube videos. It's also a pretty fanfreakintastic media player. It's going to cost you about 30 clams, but for me, it's well worth it. I've been playing videos and music with it nonstop since WM 6.1 came out without any problems. No crashing, no excessive pauses, nada.
