Active synch and simlock - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi,
I just put a new htc rom on without reading up first and it is now simlocked.
I want to revert back to the original rom but cant get activesynch to see my phone now it is on the simlock screen.
How do i do it?
Matt

something in your info is wrong, as roms don't simlock or unlock a phone

My info is right. It was an orange branded kaiser and didnt know that if i dont unlock it before putting another rom with a different radio stack it will simlock it.

Sorted now , was my computer , wiped it and it sync'd flawlessly. Been unlocked by imeicheck now too and runs perfectly.

Help would be appreciated... New MDA to upgrade

Hi Guys,
Firstly, i am new to this - so if i ask any stupid Q's, please forgive me
I will be getting my MDA Vario tomorrow, and before i do too much customisaton and transfer my phonebook over, i would like some advice on upgrading.
From reading this Forum, i believe that I have to do a CID unlock and a SIM unlock. I am familier with a SIM unlock, but what it a CID unlock?
Also, from what i can gather, in order to do this - i have to downgrade to an older version of the rom first. Once i have done this and unlocked the device, does anyone have any recomendations on what ROM i should upgrade it to? I have heard the Qtek rom is a good one, but will is this the best one to be going for?
Thanks for your input guys. You can be asured, once i get familier with this device i shall be providing much imput to this forum!

Hi, I'm new to WM5/vario as well (experienced on palms & treos).
You only need to unlock the wizard if you want to use another suppliers SIM card, and to get rid of the T-Mobile stuff you need to remove the Carrier ID (CID), so you can then change the rom to another one not recognised by your TMobile rom.
I understand, but could be wrong, that you only need to down grade if your device already has one of the latest a2dp stereo roms with push email built in.
Hope this helps (if I'm right)!!!

I want to upgrade teh ROM on my O2 to a generic version but.

I got the phone from a guy on EBay and though it is unlocked to all networks and works with my Orange SIM, how do I know if it is CID unlocked ? :?
you will not know if it is CID unlocked.
your best bet is to CID unlock it anyway.
it wont harm the phone to CID unlock more than once.
If you just want a generic ROM and are happy with the one you're running right now (Minus the o2 junk) just hard reset your device and then when it gets to the "wait three seconds" part, soft reset right when it gets to that screen. It will prevent WM5 from installing all of O2s crap on there and you have basically a clean slate version of what ROM you're running.

Reflashing Unlocked T-Mobile Wing to use on ATT Network

Hello all. A noob here. I am getting an unlocked Wing and I am planning to reflash it in order to use it on Cingular/ATT Network.
I've looked and couldn't find step-by-step instructions on flashing.
I have the roms that I need downloaded already, but I didn't know if it is as easy as it appears to be. (WM6 WWE v3 +/- TouchFlo)
Do I take the sim card out before reflashing? Do I plug in the device, Turn activesync on, then double-click on the rom?
If someone can reply with the step-by-step process, that'd be great!
Thanks in advance.
You don't need to flash it with new ROM in order to use it on ATT. All it needs is to be SIM unlocked and you should be able POP your ATT SIM in and go. If you want to experiment with custom ROM's your phone would need to be CID unlocked first. I don't know if there is an easy/free CID unlocking tool for Wing, but "search" is a helluva feature
thanks
Yes, so it is SIM unlocked, and I can pop my SIM in and make calls. However..........I do believe T-Mobile locks their browsers and I can't edit the GPRS/Network settings in order for me to use the phone for the internet. That is mainly why I want to reflash--getting rid of the t-mobile crap would be nice too
So Flashing instructions...or, if someone can't link me to some source that would be great! Thanks.
ok, CID unlocked.
So plug it in, connect activesync and flash away?
nevermind, i get it hehe.. i found some instructions here that can be tailored to install other roms:

Sanity Check - Still CID Unlocked?

So I've upgrade my old 8125 successfully - got a new one due to a second USB port coming off main board. This new one is a slightly newer model - T2. Anywho - Was running Lokiwiz to CID and SIM unlock. Successfulyl Sim unlocked - also THOUGHT i successfully CID unlocked it (based on the progress of the program - all the way through auto hard reset),
but apparantly I didn't (as confirmed by the MTTY tool telling me I don't have sufficient privelages to create image of rom and an invalid Vendor ID error upon tmobile rom RUU). Also i get the familiar "fat format failure" message at the option screen when hard resetting.
So i can flash the heck out of the device with old and new Cingular roms as well as the TouchFlo and Touch Diamond roms but the only thing that changes after successful flashing is the splash screen and depending on the ROM the IPL/SPL number. The device remains frozen and hangs on the Boot Loader screen.
So in attempt to get this thing up and running i need a sanity check.
Mmy first question is
1) Based on info above would you agree the device is still CID unlocked?
2) Is there (cuz I can't find one) a utility besided IMEI unlock to get into the phone and CID unlock it through the RBG boot loader screen?
3) Since I UNSUCCESSFULLY CID unlocked the device using Lokiwiz in the first place - I still have the output file from Lokiwiz - is there a way that the IMEIUNLOCK progrogram from IMEI UK can read this binary file and unlock the device or do i just need to pony up the 40bucks and CID unlock this.
I can't think of another way to get back to a functioning device.
Additional Thoughts
I also had a thought - which is probably an impossibility - but is there any way if I get the IMEI unlock code from Cingular to somehow get it into the IMEI Unlock software or use some other program like MTTY to insert that code into the phone?
DAMN! - I still don't know how the CID unlock didn't go through the first time. -Maye it was because the rom didn't roll back.
BRoke Down
and purchased IMEI unlock - unlocked just fine. Now I was able to upgrade to the Tmobile rom- INstallation went through without a hitch- now I am stuck on the Tmobile Boot loader- WTF can't I get past the boot loader on any rom I use? This makes no sense. Anyone have any thoughts? IPl and SPL at this point both show 2.26. THis is really pissing me off.
Try using the SD method to create a OS ROM dump and restore it. Some people works with it.

Orange TYTN II

Hey Guys.
i have had a TYTN II for about two years now and i love it. i have flashed and flashed my rom, never with any troubles. my friend has just purchased a TYTN II, it is unlocked but was originally on orange. I have read some horror storys about flashing an original orange device. if i flash his device will it become a brick? or will it be ok as the phone was unlocked?
Cheers.
Karl
I've got an Orange Tytn11 and after it was unlocked I've managed to flash it a couple of times without anything bad happening...
I have an Tynt 2 from Orange and i never had issues with it. at least not because of the phone, if you flash everything right he'll be ok.
@ karldonteljames - I may sound (or read, lol) a little paranoid here, but when you say "unlocked" do you mean sim unlocked or hdspl unlocked? I mean if you haven´t checked that (although I think you already have and I´m just being too carefull) you should as sim unlock is a totally diferent thing from spl unlocking and if you ever try to flash a non stock rom without checking that you could brick it for sure.
