Would this be the same one you've managed to SIMlock and can't unlock?

this the one?

Hi,
It is the same one yeah. But its been unlocked by imeicheck now and works perfectly. Has the htc rom on now so no branding.
Matt

Its sold now.
I must say i have gne back to the iphone. A MUCH better device. I mean the browsing on the tytn was absolutely **** , as close to useless as it could get. The iphone was a much much much better device for browsing.
I have just sold my pc and got an imac too and i must say it is far superior in everything than windows.
Im so glad i got out of the windows rat race , and will never go back.
Matt

Well good luck to you - I hope you find what you are looking for. The Mac is a nice platform but too "cutesy" me though. I am happy to browse at 1.8Mbit/s on my TyTnII rather than the paltry speeds available on the iPhone. But each to their own

Good luck to you too. It is a bit cutesy but i like that instead of the clunky virus ready windows. ALso, i work from home so use wifi 99.9% of the time so get a fair bit more than 1.8mbps and when im out still get an average of 220kbps using o2 edge.
Matt

Glad to hear you sold it and went back to using a mobile phone instead (and a very pretty one).
Reality is that if you're working from home with full PC (or Imac) services at hand then you don't need a PDA/phone/GPS anyway which is what the Kaiser/Hermes/Wizard excel at (ie, why do you need GPS to find your office at home or use a thumb pad keyboard with a full size beast close to hand).
As for Windows - couldn't agree more - after all, the computer revolution would have happened anyway wouldn't it (eventually).

The iphone is far from a beast , especially compared to the kaiser (the kaiser is 3 times thicker and only slightly smaller in height)

Cuteness and entertainment versus functionality. I'll take function every time. Sort of like a trophy girl that looks good on your shoulder but can only sit at home.

LOL I agree. If I were to upgrade my Artemis now, Ill go for Kaiser and never a girly Ifone.
But Ill hang on to my Artemis as I dont think the 400Mhz CPU and built-in keyboard is worth it (for me anyway). I dont like the bulkiness of the Kaiser as well.

Nothing like a trophy girl?!?!?
Its an awesome device that can do most of what the kaiser does. And what it does that the kaiser does it does with style and knocks spots off the kaiser.
COme february when the sdk comes out we will see what happens then.

Hmm.... I'm not sure an sdk will help with hardware limitations... . Good luck with the iPhone. From a pure features perspective, have you considered the following:
Hardware Stuff Kaiser has iPhone doesn't (I think):
1. GPS
2. 3g (HSDPA)
3. "Tactile" Keyboard (the iPhone's touch screen is not useable for me when I'm "on the go")
4. Removable Battery (I burned the iPhone's out too quickly through the day)
5. Nice Motorola Power Interface (works with many peripherals)
6. MicroSD Slot for memory changing/expansion
Software Stuff Kaiser has (iPhone doesn't yet - may be better with SDK):
1. Sirius Radio
2. Kaiser can act as Wifi access point - this is just an AMAZING feature
3. Blackberry Connect
4. Outlook
5. Office Apps
There are probably many more, but those are the ones I thought of in the time I wrote this .
If you can - try the iPhone before you give up the Kaiser? I think the screen on the iPhone is nice (but sucks batteries down like crazy), but the interface, hardware and apps just don't cut the mustard (as least for a highly mobile worker like me).

I TOTALLY disagree. I found after a week that the keyboard is sooo much better than the kaiser
4. Removable Battery (I burned the iPhone's out too quickly through the day)
My battery lasts me 3 days and i am NEVER off it trust me
5. Nice Motorola Power Interface (works with many peripherals)
6. MicroSD Slot for memory changing/expansion
8GB is plenty for me and probably 90% of the population

Stuff iphone does that kaiser cant:
Very fast and slick os , never slows down , never has to reset , never has to hard reset.
Music is just AMAZING! , the kaiser will never be able to compete.
Web browsing is in a different league. It has full internet minus flash , and the rendering and zoom pinch is just the killer thing for me.
Finally what the iphone has that the kaiser or any other windows phone i have had seems to lack is just the wow factor. Every time i pick the iphone up for a call out and about i get wows off people and utter shock on their face when i show them the stuff it does. I have never ever ever had anybody say that to a windows phone.
RIP Kaiser , its Iphone for me !

Well - good luck with your new iPhone! It sounds like your mind is already firmly made up. I hope you have hours of joy with it!

Sounds like it will be going to bed with him as well

Glad you sold your Kaiser...
Sounded like somebody with a Lamborghini in his garage, without a driving license... appreciate thingsfor the sake of it is worth half of their price

Well ill add my two cents here. Im a mod on the #1 iphone modding site, and got my iphone the day it came out. Sure out of the box the iphone is garbage ill be the first to admit that. But once you mod it you can have a prety sweet phone. For some of the features that it is lacking (not hardware specific) the biggest is MMS well guess what we already cracked that and now you can send and receive MMS with no problems. Video record, same thing it is capable of that now. Adding emus and games and multi-function task lists and pdf readers, yup can do that now as well. When they actually release trhe sdk come Feb then i can only imagine what the phone will be capable of. Now with that being said, I just bought my Tilt two weeks ago and I am quite happy with it, i still have my iphone as well. and yes for features the tilt does beat it, but for stableness and looks the iphone wins hands down. My iphone never once slowed down nor locked up on me where i had to reset it, cmon a phone should not "crash" well the tilt has a few times on me, and just switching from portrait to landscape mode is really slow. Plain in simple you really cant compair the two, if you want a stable phone with less features atm get the iphone. If you need every feature/function than get the tilt.

Kaizer or Apple Iphone?

I know, Kaizer packs more in, but i hate 3G due to battery drainage and am happy with Edge. The Apple is way cooler no doubt, but no gps and the keyboard sucks?
tough call...
Your poll is gonna be a bit biased hah
Iphone lacks 3rd party support
can't swap battery
no keyboard
not subsidised
premier discounts voided
just a few reasons I can think of at the moment.
Also many ppl who *would* have an 4/8 gig Iphone have a 20-80gig Ipod already, so theres little advantage to getting it other than its kinda cool.
Don't know what you think your poll is going to show other than Teens will vote for ipone and Business folk will go for the Kaiser....
d
I vote for iphone.
HAHAHAHAHA!
Definitely Kaiser! Can't wait for it to hit the shelves!
Well considering the only thing you say you don't like about the Kaiser is the 3G then i'd suggest you run with the Kaiser as you can choose which network to be connected to on-the-fly.
iPhone really is the most overhyped phone to ever be released.
i'd go for the kaiser out of the two because i like the keyboard, and i'm not really a fan of apple products - and i think having a phone with a non user replaceable battery is lunacy!
what about the new se p1i? i used to really like sony's but went for the tytn as i couldn't be arsed to wait any longer for the p990...

so far only 3 votes on the iphone lol
http://www.mobile-review.com/articles/2007/iphone-name-en.shtml
after reading that, i think you will have only 1 choice... i was really shocked of course i had my bias, but i didnt know it was that bad and that limited
EDGE???
Show me the place in UK where it works???
AFAIK there's no EDGE on nay of UK networks...
Im pretty sure Orange supports EDGE.
It all depends on what you are doing.
I have used the iPhone (my brother's) and I must say that is is pretty slick and rock-solid in terms of connectivity - albeit slow connectivity relative to 3G.
IMHO - if you need something that is half-baked iPod, half-baked iPhoto plus a phone with pretty bad audio, but WAY COOL looking - you get an iPhone. Of course, you cannot mind being tethered to the mother ship.
Now, if you are mobile, need email, want to download RSS feeds, video and audio podcasts and need all of the connectivity options to handle scenarios ranging from client office wireless networks to airports to taxicabs and your own office Plus you want some music and photos of your kids (or car or babe), you get a Kaiser.
Now if either of them had that 1.2 million color screen of the N95 we would be talking some serious beauty!
Personally, I will be camping - pre-iPhone style in front of my ATT store on September 3 for a Kaiser!
Umm, no offense to anyone but it seems to me that when one considers phone purchase of this kind, the iCrap and the Kaiser cannot be in the same category.
Its not a tough call... the Iphone is a piece of **** for people that don't have a hard demand on their phone. If you are a power user get a Kaiser.
if you want features besides an mp3 player and a picture viewer like every phone out there has, get the kaiser.
It is as comparing Apples with Pears (Tytn II) ;o))
Blasphemer
If you were true to htc and windows mobile you would stick with the kaiser, iphone even thou its got its nufty features like that zoomng in and the keyboard (which on our windows mobile you can now simulate) its still buggy even after the updates at least with kaiser you know its got windows mobile 6 plus u get full keyboard and the tilt and brilliant for the gps even thou the battery would drain faster who cares go on ebay get a higher capacity battery and in car charger then get a extra battery while your there and a exturnal battery charger thats what i did for the Htc Universal (which sadly broke grr that usb port breaking and then gettting stuck in bootloader mode)

Oh dear. No-one should stick to a product just because of the company that makes it.
The iPhone is a good bit of kit. Sure, it's got its flaws (no 3G, no custom ringtones) but for the average person that wants to trade in their iPod and Nokia for a single device, it'll do the job.
Most people are here because they use Pocket PC phones. The iPhone can't compete with them (however much it pretends it can). It's locked down, it's got limited email options and frankly, we're used to being able to customise our devices up the wazoo.
If Apple made a decent phone and HTC came out with a turkey, staying with them through loyalty would be foolish to the extreme.
You may show loyalty to a company, but at the end of the day, they're only interested in profits, and they will not reciprocate.
This poll is bound to be biased...
I mean, this is a WM developers forum. After the amount of work we put into the PPCs, most other phones(including the iPhone) look slightly,er, stupid?
On the other hand, I do wish HTC gave us 3in VGA screens. Come on HTC!, Arima does it.
Kaiser all the way.
What can the Iphone do that a Kaiser wont be able to do once the geniuses here at XDA-developers have a a tweak with the ROM. Isn't it only a matter of time before someone comes out with an implementation of the pinch/squeeze-zoom for photos afaik this is the only feature WM devices can't currently match.

Tilt vs Iphone - which is better ?

i dont know if this is the right place to post because you guys will obviously be biased towards the tilt..
what do u think , should i buy a Tilt or the current Iphone ?
i like to browse the net thru wifi quite a bit, check emails. also while talking voice quality is important, signal strenth is important too.
any suggestions is appreciated specially if someone has owned both of these 2. thx
btw i have read other threads and googled other comparisions but there werent too much opinions on this topic.
the few i saw said they liked Tilt better.
okay i dont own a tilt, so thought id post.
i prefer the tilt,
in my opinion it looks nicer, is easier to text (with the keyboard), the hackability is excellent (ROMS) and applications are plentiful.

Not sure what you mean about "weren't too much opinions" but this forum is full of opinions about the iPhone and Tilt and you will find some very heated opinions to boot.
On I side note: I have the Tilt, my wife has the 8525, and my Brother in-law has the iPhone. Each His (Or Her) own....
IMO ~ You may have just reopened a big can off &%#* as this forum is not a iPhone forum and iPhone or related threads generally get bashed on. Start a Poll!!!!
i have heard the Tilt is fat and bulky compared to the sleek Iphone....
and the Tilts touch screen scratches easily and have to use stylus... whereas iphone screen is scratch resistant... i think.
but ofcourse I like HTC, and i like Windows Mobile6 ...i currently own a different HTC phone with wm6 custom rom. so before yall think abt bashing me, im a custom WM6 Rom fanboy...

i have both and i love the tilt better
iphone after a while gets repetitive and boring
tilt theres more to discover by the day
Well, if the iPhone ran Windows Mobile it would be a close call, even with all the WM "limitations", it is still far greater and customizable then the iPhone interface, in which basically... you can swap icons.
Plus Gps, 3G and whatever else the iPhone misses.
iPhone has a bigger and more resistant screen and that's pretty much all I can see about iPhone having better.
I think comparing this version of the iphone and tilt isnt close without 3g and gps. But if you don't use those who knows. The iphone is defintely thinner and sleeker. But the wm phone is much more functiona.
Skyfire browses the web just as well as the iphones and handles all flash content, can't beat that.
well i would get tilt myself but i got piles of 3th party progs which is wm
and want something better then edge and want flash support
but i do think iphone looks better but then i never were a big fan of the looks of kaiser
get both and then decide which one u want and then sell the other one.
I have both, here's my opinion
Tilt
Pro's:
3G
GPS
WMWifiRouter & tethering
Youtube
MicroSD Slot
Easy to sawp sim card
Exchange/Direct Push
Quake I & II
Microsoft Mobile Office
Con's:
Battery life
size (lets face it, compared to the iphone the tilt is a brick)
video issues
slow at times
can't get NES roms to work properly (thats for me atleast)
WM is designed to be used with a stylus, I know, touchflow TRIES tomake up for it, but falls short imo
OEM headset sucks
iPhone:
Pro:
easy to use
video playback is great
surfing the internet is quick and fun (despite the 2.5 modem)
Installer app is really nice (if u hack/unlock ur iphone)
the ipod functions are nice
great ebook reader imo
Accelerometers
screen size & quality
multi touch
threaded sms out the box
solid feel to it
size
comes with a cradle and nice headset
Con:
2.5G modem
No tehtering
no gps
no video recorder (but can be downloaded via installer)
no exchange
calander sucks
keyboard sucks
iPhone plans suck (with AT&T)
App icons on homescreen are static, meaning it wont update the weather on the front screen, u have to open the app to see the weather
screen does not recognize a stylus
easy to scratch
I had my tilt first, and I loved it, and thought it was the best phone ever... I just got my iphone roughly a month ago, and I fell in love all over again. Dont get me wrong though, I wouldnt say anyone of the phones is superior to the other... They are 2 different styles of phones, one is a buisness type personal manager, and the other is a entertainment device. I love the tilts connectivity, I travel a lot for work, and I got to school at night. Its nice to be able to whip out the tilt, connect to the internet and share the connection with my laptop. Also during my travels, if i get lost, TomTom will always direct me to my destination. The iphone is great when going out a night, its slim shape allows me to have in my pocket, for my tilt i have to use a belt clip/pouch.
So there ya go... You just need to make sure the phone your getting suits your needs... the tilt suits my business life, the iphone my personal life... I wish there was a device that did both in 1.. maybe the next HTC device or the 3G iphone will cover all bases... we'll see

Nope I can confirm it does scratch.. I have a fat scratch middle of my screen
I'm a new user here which means my opinion doesn't count as much, ;-), but I'll throw my 2 cents in anyways. I'm looking for a "one device to rule them all" type thing. The Kaiser and the iPhone 1.0 are close. However, I think the phones that'll make me happy are either the TyN IV or the iPhone 3.0. The above poster is right that the WM6 isn't great at entertainment/personal apps and the iPhone isn't great at business apps. In the race of the Tyn IV and the iPhone 3.0, I think that Apple will win because their interface is so much more polished, integrated, and smooth.
Oh, I just got a Kaiser on Friday, I've been using an iPod for years, but don't have an iPhone.
A Man's Phone
I have a tilt and my wife has an iphone. So that is easy , the Tilt is a man"s phone and the iphone is a girl's phone. Just Kidding (kinda) Higherbeing had all the technicals right. I run a business totally (mostly) on my tilt. From editing documents on the go, to planning my day, to finding my way to jobsites(GPS)to organizing contact and the constant flow of emails and I do it all at 3G speed , I could not see me with an iphone. My wife texts her friends, listens to music at the gym, gets a email or two from work, shows everyone pictures of the family, watches a youtube video or two checks the weather occasionally and laughs at my stylus. Like they say, to each his/her own.
oh yea forgot mobile office as one of the pro's on the tilt...
heh denco sounds like we have simular life styles

I bought an iPhone for my wife and a Tilt for myself a few weeks later. At times I've regretted not getting the iPhone in part because:
It has a slightly larger screen
It has a slimmed down version of iTunes.
The touch screen gestures are very intuitive and work out of the box.
There's a steeper learning curve for the Tilt. However, once you get a handle on the basics (thanks xda!!) it can be a more powerful device for a few reasons:
3G is a lot better than Edge.
Built in GPS is awesome.
Works with a lot more bluetooth devices.
There's a lot more software out there for Windows Mobile than for the iPhone.
The slide out keyboard can really come in handy for those longer emails.
Office mobile and built-in full featured exchange sync
Some of these advantages can be had if you unlock the iphone and use FreeBSD/MacOS X software directly.
If you're like me and you're mainly interested in having the benefits of a computer in a very small form factor (one you can carry around - one device to rule them all so to speak) I'd go with the Tilt. The iPhone is wonderful but it's also kind of constraining.
I think this sums up my thoughts.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKsJDLj4nDI
Plus the Tilt is hotter in this video.
thanks for all the post guys... i think the Tilt is the right fone for me.... even though im using Tmobile so 3G phone is useless.
i like the GPS with TomTom feature too...
i might also buy the Iphone later if they drop the price... which they might since the new iphone is coming out very soon.

No problem. Tilt has more options.
Also, I laugh at your statement of Apple dropping their price. My company unfortunately uses some Apples in its Design Department. I've never seen the price go down. When they announce a new "upgrade" The old one sells at the same price, or is dropped $20, while the new one sells for $50 or more over. Then when the old one is sold out, the new ones price drops down to the Old ones price. Just in time for it to start all over again. In fact the price on iMacs has gone UP incrementally.

TyTn 2 Vs Touch Cruise vs Touch dual vs Touch Diamond vs Other?

Hey I am new to the whole smartphone game. My initial plan was to hop on the bandwagon and purchase an Iphone, but after further review there are quite a few phones that serve my purpose's better than the Iphone. I am a college student so as you can imagine pictures and video recording are important too me, as well as video messaging. One of the things also that turned me on to the HTC camp was the fact that I can edit word doc's which you can't on Iphone (such as reports or essay's for school). Another thing I am looking for is a phone with both 3G and WiFi, I know the dual doesn't have wifi but I am also wondering how important is that too the phone. I also plan to play quite alot of movies (and of course music) on my phone. This will also be used to manage pretty much, my life as it will be my own personal assistant in every way possible. My desire is so that I don't HAVE to update my phone for quite a few years. I know the diamond doesn't come out for a few months, I can wait if need be. Now this is the catch, I am an at&t gophone customer so perferably I would like to get an unlocked phone of whichever of these phones are the best (at&t doesnt support prepaid use of at&t tilt, fyi) but I may just get a plan (and give them the damn 500 deposit, grrrr) if NEED be. I am also a big fan of touchscreen so I would love for whichever of those phones that has one of the better models/ easier use of it. Also I just moved to a new city so of course a GPS nav. would be great.
Anyways post away, thank you in advance for the help guys.
If you want a full keyboard get the TyTn 2
If you want something slightly slimmer with no keyboard get the Touch/Dual
For the most part you can emulate the Touch apps on the TyTn 2...so you kind of get the bet of both worlds.
However since your first inclination was for the iPhone I gather one of two things (or both):
1) You are an "apple" person and therefore probably don't want to tinker with your stuff to get it to work right for you.
2) You are concerned with looks and graphics above all
If either of these are the case I would wait for the Diamond as it really does appear to be much more fluid and you won't need to tinker to get it iPhone-esque. Of course, by the time they release it there will be hints of even newer device coming...
Cliff notes?
Dude, add a poll!
it really depends on your personal taste. Keeping the diamond off this review the tilt is the best among the other available options imo. I love having a full qwerty keyboard as texting and writing messages (especially for here ) is easy. The only place where it falls short is graphic and video drivers, note that i didn't say anything about hardware which is perfectly capable .. just need better drivers.
Anyways it all boils down to personal choice .. the tilt rocks imo.
p.s. CUSTEL there is dude looking for a tilt i recommended you
Well one of my biggest things is going to be both putting movies/music videos on my memory card as well as streaming videos on my phone so - these graphic and video drivers, are they major complications in that? I have read some things on the issues with playing videos on the tilt but was unsure if these have since been unresolved issues.
I am not an apple person, no. Looks I can live without but the graphics of the videos I play as well as the video recordings are of importance. I don't mind tinkering with the phone to get a better phone at all no. That is one of the things I like about these phones are that you can download diff things for them (so I've read). The reasons why I wanted the iphone are simply that, I HEARD the iphone is the best phone out. After further research I have not found that to be the case, especially in my situation. The fact that it doesn't have a video camera NOR MMS are huge faults for me. I loved the fact that it was touch screen, but seeing as there are so many more touch screen phones out there that I didn't know about opened a whole new world too me =].
And yes, the fact that better phones ARE always coming out is something that I have thought about and one of the reasons why I may scratch the diamond off my list =p
Also can somebody inform me on how too add a poll, ty.
The microSD cards are a very good solution for music and videos. Without the graphics drivers, streaming video is not a problem. Also as long as the video is decently sized to the resolution of the phone, playback should not be much of an issue if you use Coreplayer Qtv (not free software). I personally don't like the Tilt (it's too bulky) and think the Cruise is a great device.
The Diamond is another cool device, but the fact that it has no microSD slot and is not a true worldphone (like the kaiser and cruise) are negatives for me. Also I have yet to see what the battery life will be on that device, smaller battery and all. Besides the Diamond won't be out for the Americas for a bit longer.

I think MChapman was being tongue in cheek with his poll suggestion. This topic has been BEAT TO DEATH on this forum and does not deserve to be ever brought up again. EVER. What phone should I pick? Is the Iphone better? Basically no phone does everything well or else there would not be so many phones. You don't seem to want much(laugh) just everything in a small package. The iPhone is a entertainment device with minimal life organization abilities. The Tilt is a hardcore business and life organizer with adequate entertainment functions. Personally I have a Tilt that runs my life and business and an ipod touch that has 16GB of entertainment on it . They both do exaclty what I want them to do.
And if I want an all in one device, I duct tape them together

Well said..... There are so many comparisons in this forum and everyone will have an opinion. Yes, i have the Tilt also and it's the best phone on the planet... (**NOTE** For me that is) Would your "Other" be the SE Xperia X1?
I bet the Touch Diamond's battery life will be very similar to the Tilt and the Touch Cruise due to the Diamond's processor being built on a smaller 65nm process if I am correct. And assuming that the processor consumes the most amount of power in the phone, this new one processor will consume less than the ones in the Tilt and Touch Cruise.
"This topic has been BEAT TO DEATH on this forum and does not deserve to be ever brought up again. EVER."
Oh ok, I didn't know that. I have been looking for people's input on these phones all over the net with minimal results. I am basically just trying to get a sense of what are the strong suits of each phone and on the flip side, what are the negative aspects of each phone and what should I watch out for with either. If anyone of you can point me too reviews or other forum discussions that highlight thats character traits about the phone that would be fantastic.
"Personally I have a Tilt that runs my life and business and an ipod touch that has 16GB of entertainment on it "
Thats cool for you, but personally I am not trying to walk around looking like inspector gadget. That and those are two major investments, especially when you can just get a phone that can hold sd slots (which also scratches out the diamond in my list fyi, ty hambola). Same with GPS and nav, now that your phone can do this it wouldnt make sense too go out and buy ANOTHER navigation system, especially for a student on a budget =] Too be honest also if you can type relatively fast on either one (for editing word doc's) I probably won't even need a laptop =] Just one simple phone would make my life a whole lot easier, man how I love technology.
You know, after further review of each phone I have decided not to get either of the phones. Each one has its own little draw backs that nag me too the point that I don't really want to purchase the phone. Hopefully the Xperia is amazing!!! ANyone else know any other good phones that would be up my alley? Thanks guys.

Xperia does not convinced me at all. That's my opinion.
I just saw a video of the Diamond and I have to say it's a lot better than Xperia.
Hey there is a new iphone coming next month with 3g and other stuff, and I'm pretty sure you already know
Anyways...Tilt is a great choice.
Hey I'm thinking on selling mine but.. trust me is a hard choice. I really like the Tilt.
Well one of my biggest issues with the tilt is that it doesn't have a GPS nav in it which blows =[ The diamond doen't offer card slots (???? wtf???) so I can't upgrade memory or put any music/movies on any cards.
The tilt does have a GPS nav in it.
where are all these so called "Touch" apps located?
TYTNII Rocks
I have a TYTN II that rocks my world. It organises my business, and stores enough podcasts to keep me amused while flying (4 hours per week). I don't do video as am well over the porn thing although do watch Big Brother via Planet 3 here in Oz. It's bulk and I;m looking at a Diamond for my son, as 3 here has ceased selling the TYTN II. the Diamond looks pretty smik.

HTC Diamond or N95 8GB? HELP!!

Hey guys.
At the moment I've got a HTC Elf. Its an ok phone but i want to go onto a price plan with a network and get a brand new phone along with it. So im now torn between the Diamond and the N95, both great smartphones but I need help! Which one is "better"? Im not too bothered about size (within reason) its more about the features and reliability that im looking for.
Also im moving to Australia in around 12 months time with my girlfriend so preferably I would want one that will work on the networks out there and is fairly easily SIM unlocked.
Any ideas??
All comments appreciated!
Thanks!
HTC Diamond of course .I had the N95 8Gb and didn't impress me much.Look at the specs and you'll see why is better the diamond. If you wait 1 month you can buy yourself the perfect phone ,Htc Pro.
Unlocking for the Diamond is free and you can do it in your home.
i too have had an n95(not 8gb). in reality the n95 camera is better then the diamond..... but i wouldnt count diamonds camera out.... it is just as goood as the n95's 5mpx... mpx doesnt always matter

Difficult decision: regarding photo/video quality, the N95 8GB beats the HTC Diamond EASILY, no comparison possible since the N95 8GB plays in a different league.
Then, the differences start: if you have lots of WM programs you still want to use, go for the HTC Diamond. Otherwise, the N95 8GB also allows installing third party programs, unfortunately most of these(commercial) programs are IMEI "locked", so if you exchange your N95 8GB phone with a different Symbian phone, you usually can't immediately use these programs anymore with the new device.
Video playback capability is also much better with the N95 8GB, the Diamond still has issues I'm afraid.
The decision isn't easy but if you're using the phone mainly for your enjoyment and entertainment, I guess the N95 8GB is the better choice in my opinion.
The Diamond has a better support for exchange servers, etc.
I have just switched from the N95 to the HTC Diamond and don't regret it.
Previously I used the XDAII and XDA Exec when they were released and loved the Windows Mobile experiance and big touch screens. I then switched to Nokia for a bit and tried the N73 then the N95 and I have decided I really don't like the Symbian OS and really missed the Windows Mobile software and apps.
Browsing on the HTC Diamond is a dream! The resolution of the screen means web pages look ace and easy to read. It is easy to zoom in and out with the scroll wheel and navigating the pages with a flick of a finger seems so natural.
The ONLY thing I miss about my N95 is that the Diamond doesn't have audio controls on the headset so you have to change the tracks manually on the phone. Although there is software that with the press of a button you can tell the phone to skip to the next track so I just need to get back into that again.
The only downside I have to the Diamond so far is the lack of expandable memory slot. A 4GB memory stick was enough on my N95 but with so much you can do with Windows Mobile phones it isn't enough for me on the Diamond. I will learn to live with it though.
My only other option before I got the Diamond was the Samsung I900 but although it has a bigger screen, it's lower resolution and the I900 doesn't have a scroll wheel so navigating web pages won't feel as enjoyable and easy. THe plus with the I900 though is 8GB or 16GB internal memory AND an expansion slot.
Sorry for the waffle - Final verdict for me is Diamond all the way. Especially with a community like this available.
Trem
I came from N95 8 gig to diamond. mate go fot it.
The Diamond is simply in a different league altogether.
I have them both. Use the Diamond for fun, experimenting and the N95 8GB for when I need a stable device, which can do almost everything and do itquite well. To me the 8GB is the best device, but it's a bit too large.
I am planning on getting rid of one of them within the next few weeks, but right now I am not sure which...

Yeah, I mean thats what its boiled down to for me at the moment. I love the sleekness of the Diamond and the new TouchFlo 3D stuff with the accelerometer.
However, I followed the Diamond closely ever since it was announced and to be honest I've heard such a range of comments about it and some of the bad stuff said about it gets me worried to some degree. For example I've read alot about the interface being "sluggish" and "un-responsive" and to be honest that ruins the touchscreen feature for me. Although many people say that the reason for the slow speed on some devices is because the people using them are not using them correctly.
As for the N95....I havn't really heard a bad note about it apart from the obvious complaint of its chunkiness and the fact that there isn't a cover for the camera. I also found out that the N95 does actually have a built in accelerometer that was apparently hidden by Nokia. So, to be honest my hand is slowly creeping over to the N95 at the moment for the following reasons:
- 5mp camera (that I've been told is alot more reliable and has more effects)
- 8GB of storage (probably alot more than I will use, but atleast its there if i do need it)
- Quad Band (to be honest I think you only need a Tri Band phone to work in Australia, but its likely I will be doing more travelling)
- Slide out Keypad (I dont dislike the touch keypad on my elf, but I guess I would be able to type quicker with more feedback)
- Chunk (I'll be honest, I'm a clumsy Oaf when it comes to holding anything electrical and small, and I have a bad feeling that perhaps Me and that glossy, shiny finish on the Diamond might not get on well)
- Nokia (frome experience with Nokias you can generally get signal anywhere....however I have yet to find an area where my elf doesnt have signal)
I dont want anyone to think that im casting out the idea of buying the Diamond....trust me im not!
Ahhh God this is gonna take me a while to figure out!
Thanks for your comments so far though guys! (sorry for the long reply here!)
If you want to use phone also for music/radio, then N95 is for you. Diamond as mp3 player is abysmal ( sound quality sucks really hard ), but on other tasks it is better ( except camera ).
8GB of storage really isn't too much, 4GB is too little. I don't trust one single GPS app 100% so I always keep a backup program ready (TT7 + iGO8). 2 x map of europe = most of the 4GB storage is gone. Add a bit of music and that's it.
The 8GB storage on the N95 is nice, but sloooow. Such a relief to be working on the Diamond now, it is much faster.
MP3 on the Diamond has another problem: standby time. It drains the battery almost as fast as movie playback on the N95 8GB. Listen to one hour of music and the battery is almost guaranteed to be dead before you go to bed. HTC really need to take this seriously and do some ROM tweaking to save power, just as Nokia did on the N95.
But the size of the Diamond... If they were the same size, the choice would be easy for me - dump the Diamond. But this is where the Diamond really stands out. Just slide it into your pocket and forget it. No way you can do that with a N95 8GB.
The N95 (8GB) has been on the market for 18 months or so. So many updates, so much better a device now than when it first appeared. The Diamond is still only about one month old. Much can happen during the next few months, especially when it is backed up by a site as great as this. Xda developer is as good a 'feature' as any
I totally know where your all coming from. I guess its so hard to choose between the two because they are so different.
If all the functionality and features of the N95 could be squeezed into the Diamond with TouchFlo 3D over the top, I think we'd have the perfect phone that could shove the iPhone's head up its own ass where it belongs. (no offence to anyone with an iPhone).
However this isn't the case, so I guess were stuck for the moment. I really wanted to make this decision this weekend so I can buy my phone next week, im not sure thats gonna happen now .
I shall Ponder!!
Ok guys so...I had a think about this and while doing some other shopping today I popped into my local T-Mobile shop and got myself a brand new N95 8GB on a £30 price plan.
Now I know some of you...if not all...may be slightly confused with my decision; Why go for a chunky Nokia thats been out for 18 months over a sleek, sexy, new HTC Diamond?
Well to be honest, I did alot of research (in place of Work that I really should have been doing!) and I went around and got some brief hands on use of both handsets, asked friends who have either phone and just found out as much info as I could.
When I got hold of the Diamond for the second time, I was still impressed. It is a fantastic device, end of! But my hand felt empty....a strange use of words but thats how I felt...I couldnt get a half decent grip on the phone either, probably because of its sexy gloss finish.
When I held the N95 8GB (also for the second time) I was overwhelmed, first by its size, and then by just how much it can do. My hand was full, but comfortably. The weight and really stable slider reassured me as I played around with the different stuff available. After playing around for about 20 minutes the sales advisor showed me the quick program menu and told me about the "blue light" at the corner of each program icon that tells you that the program was running....every program had this light (because I used everyone) I was amazed to say the least especially after owning the Elf where you only have to open internet explorer for the phone to begin twitching.
I have to admit that I miss the touch screen a little bit...just being able to physically touch the icon you want is quite satisfying, but (from my experience) slow. On the N95 I fly through different menus in seconds.
Im sorry to be a slight dissapointment to anyone who was certain that I must get the Diamond, but I decided that speed and reliability is what I really want over style and functionality.
I know you guys know your stuff and I will have no shame in reporting any problems I have with the N95 so you can all give a huge "told you so", however I really doubt that situation will ever happen, this phone does basically everything....and does it well!

I used to own a N95 as well.
I waited for it for months and months before it got released to get it.
for a month or two I worked overtime to be able to buy it as fast as possible.
Finally I had it.
AND I LOVED IT!
I felt the same as you. TONS of stuff it could do, the camera was soooo good. etc etc.
But the reality cought up on me 6 months later and the damn speakers began to get a distorted sound. I had it in for the same problem twice within the next 6 months, and on the third time they switched it ( even though I wanted my money back ) to a new device with a fresh warranty period.
It ran like a charm.
Two months after I got it....same problem. Speakers.
So I went down and started a war against the store I bought it from cause they didn't wanna pay me back.
But I won. Got my money and ran fast to the store on the otherside of the road to buy me an Diamond. And I do NOT regret it. Remember, I LOVED my B95. But even if the camera was a bit better and it played music a TAD better I still don't regret it.
I wanna give you a tip though. If you work or run around in areas with alot of dirt in the air. Like a workshop, put the damn thing in a plastic bag that you can seal, or you will most likely experience the same thing I have.
The hole in the "filter" infron of the side speakers are just to large and that allowes the speaker ( magnet ) to draw particles towards it.
But as far as I am concerned, I will probably never get a Nokia phone again.
Ever since they started with smartphones it has gone down hill imo. Even though N95 and N95 8gig sold pretty well.
Good luck with you new phone though. And Grats.
/Akezzon
May be N95 and Daimond might come close in some features. But what makes daimond to rock is the interface. Its much better than what N95 has to provide. and Ofcourse N95 does not have touch screen. and Daimonds hardware is of cutting edge technology and specs

After the latest ROM update, i find my Diamond blazing fast, not unresponsive like when i first bought it
Also the diamond is now quad band, Htc magically pulled out the 850mhz band in the phone.
In case you didnt knew, the diamond also has a Tv-out! avaible with a special cable that is soon to come
My stephfather just went from N95 to the new iphone 3g, i told him to check out the diamond touch, but he didnt even take a look at it, guess who will be laughing when he gets the iphone^^
i had it for about a day and sold it on

Agreed. Also add the phone - it's, in general, better (and allows for call recording, which is, as usual, missing from the Diamond.)
That is, if you
- need a phone with call recording,
- need multimedia playback, particularly via the built-in speakers,
- CAMERA (which the Diamond really sucks at)
- need LOTS of storage (another no-go for the Diamond)
go for the N95.
(I'd advise againts the 8GB version. Get the "simple" N95 instead.)
Hi Guys,
Let me join in too. Yes, you might have guessed by now. I am also an ex-N95 user. The N95 is one of those phones that I will have a hard time forgetting. As a matter of fact, I sold my N95 to buy the Diamond. I did regret about it in the earlier days when I first got the Diamond. Common problems like system lags, bugs, hang ups, etc made me wanna sell off my Diamond buy back my N95. But flashing the Diamond to new ROMS (cooked of course), the performance of the Diamond improved 100% ! I am beginning to fall in love with my Diamond again.
Regarding howzatcookie's decision to buy the N95 8GB, I know you will regret. Not because you missed out on the Diamond. It's because you are missing out on a better phone, N96, which is due out worldwide in a couple of months time !

Let me give you a different point of view:
- if you want to use the device more as computer then use HTC TD, else N95

To buy a Tilt or not, opinions please

Hey,
Im moving on from my trusty MDA and came apon a few decently priced At&t Tilts. Ive read over the driver issues and just wanted the opinions of some current and/or previous owners.
Just so you know, I have owned a Wing, MDA and currently a Blackjack2 and had flashed/upgraded the HTCs several times. Thats why I want to come back to an HTC device.
Thanks in advance.
go for it dude

Personally, I think it is a great phone.
I agree. Fully functional 3D drivers or not, this is still the most amazing phone on the market for price point. The only thing I would personally get above this phone is the touch pro....and that wont be for some time to come
I've had a tilt since oct 07. Wouldn't give it up for anything. Does it play 3d perfectly, no...but I didn't buy it to play movies & mp3 files. Does it have as quality camera as my old SE W810i? No, but with patience, it does pretty darn well. I got the tilt because it allowed me to replace a phone & PDA with one device. I use mobile office around 10-15 times a day, 20-30 text messages a day, the camera maybe once or twice a week, and it is without a doubt the best
device I've owned. it has it's quirks, but what device doesn't?
here hear, awesomest phone i have ever owned. I was looking for a phone i could replace my phone and pda with. it rocksas far as features. sure the graphics suck. but they get the job done in a pinch. weee it's the most technologicaly advanced phone that att has right now. I dont have to synch eight devices. i just got rid of my laptop. I use this for most everything. i have school comp labs for everything else. i thought about taking it back and waiting fr something better to come out. but. when the touch pro comes out it will cost 450 dollars with a new 2 year agreement. school stsrts before then anyways. HEY thanks you guysfor making this the coolest phone it can be with what is available. is there any feature that another phone has that this one does not. in america anyways. it is a business phone. it does just that. it will play most regular phone games out there. damn it doesnt play crysis at maximum detail. boo hoo. it is a freakin miracle these slow resricted devices can do what they do. having said that. im sure my opinion would be changed with a good foreign phone. hey and htc come on. what other company out there encourages hacking their phones by putting xda developers in their wiki. i have dropped this thing onto concrete hard twice and to my knowledge it hasnt phased it. oh and btw. i dont have a data plan for my phone. i am typing this on my tilt at panera bread on my hardware giant qwerty keyboard. this has taken me fifteen mins to write. do that iphone. do that old style 12 key phones. i just got the thing and i am typing fast on it. if you want a gaming phone this is not for you. if you want relatively long battery life when you surf the net using wifi get this phone. i am comparing the batt life to my sony clie which had first generation pda wifi in it. i have gone over an hour today surfing the web. i still have 20 pecent left and i started with like 60. my clie could only go for like 45 mins with a brand new battery with a slower processor. well panera bread is cosing and i should probably get home. but it isnt becase my pda ran outof juice. i have the oem batt btw. good night all. i hope this helps you in your quest fora new phone.
i have owned the tilt since Nov 2007 and it has been a excellent pocket pc/phone. what i really like about the phone is having the ability to flash the rom that chefs have to offer. it's nice to have options and incredible free applications out there offered by the programmer's.
i have been through four previous pocket pc phones and it's nice for once that there is everything packaged into one device. I use gps, wifi, watch movies, listen to mp3s, outlook/exchange, bluetooth etc.. i take the phone to the limits and it meets expectations.
despite the video driver problem, its not a big deal if you are really into eye candy.
if you have other questions, you can email me..

Nooo. Don't get it. I personally plan on selling my Tilt and shelling out some cash to get the AT&T Fuze (Touch Pro). It's much better. The retail pricing is only about $100-200 more then the Tilt's. So it'll retail for about $550/$650 w/o contract. =) This is a great deal compared to $1k. It's going to come out before year's end and AT&T data managers are currently testing the Fuze. It'll be out before 08 ends I can swear on it. It has a different color TF3D as we've seen. It has no front camera and an extra button for PTT. That's about it.
Guess how I got this info =)

Rofl. I know exactly what I'm talking about
I dont want to sound negative
but your posting on a Kaiser forum and asking people who own a Tilt if they advise you to get it... haha i got a feeling your gonna get around 90% yes...
the real test is to ask some guys who have a htc touch diamond or some of the other smart phones out there what they think of the Kaiser...
oh and my answer is yes... get it... with the right tweaks and a few apps to your liking, it will be the best phone you have owned (well atleast it is the best phone i have had)
I had mine since March. Pretty good phone. A tad on the heavy side. And depends on how you like to hold it, the little corner of the USB port may dig into your pinky. The AT&T bloatware are garbage but nothing you can't fix on your own. There are enough people that like it to get a constant supply of goodies.
Knowing what I know now, would I get it again? Probably.

Hey,
Im moving on from my trusty MDA and came apon a few decently priced At&t Tilts.

I look for speed and stability in a PPC, and I'm sorry to say that once again I have not found it in a HTC phone. I previously had the S710. Compared to that, the TYTN-II is fast as lightning. But compared to previous Sony Ericsson and Palm phones, the TYTN-II is sloppy. Admittedly it has GPS and WI-FI, which the others did not. The stability is below what I think is reasonable to expect for a smartphone in 2008. The touchscreen and buttons are occasionally unresponsive, and normal operation is often replaced by random "irregularities". I soft reset the device some 1-3 times a week, because unexpected stuff just happens: ranging from missed calls, broken activesync, unable to connect to EDGE network, software crashes, buttons not working.
Yet I hold on to it. It sports a nice set of features, and the software for it is plentyfull. The stability and performance can be improved by careful configuration (involving a lot of trial-and-error), but be prepared to spend a lot of hours on it. If you are a "point-and-shoot" type of person, who just want a phone that works out of the box, you may be disappointed with this one.
At least this is my personoal experience with the phone. Your milage may vary!
If you're prepared to put up with what can at times be an annoyingly slow user interface, then I don't see why not. The feature-set is excellent, the build quality is excellent and the tilting display shows no sign of flimsy construction. It has a nice weight to it and feels comfortable to hold and use.
But the dsmn lack of drivers *REALLY* grates at me after a while, especially when switching between portrait/landscape modes. The more time goes on, the more you notice how slow it is. There are tweaks that help, for example if you set the X button to close instead of hide apps the effect of this is minimised somewhat, but that shouldn't be necessary.
Unless you have patience for a UI with an average speed of "slow" I would go for one of HTCs other offerings which actually uses the hardware it contains, although if the custom drivers that are underway reach completion, perhaps the Kaiser will be a serious contender. So if you DO buy one, you may think of it as an investment for the future

I have a Wizard (8125) and a Kaiser (Tilt) and just got a Hermes (8525) for another family member - the Kaiser obviously has the best feature set, but the build quality of the other two is better, IMO. The 8125 is clunky looking, but solid, and the spacing of the keys makes it much easier not to miss-key. The 8525 is super-solid, has the best battery cover, and I think is the best looking.
That said, I will keep using the Kaiser. I have also tried i-mate 8502 and HP iPaq 910c, and returned to the Kaiser. The chrome is wearing down on the buttons, and some of HTC's software design on it is annoying (e.g. fast backlight shutoff - fixable of course). In the inevitable comparison to iPhone 3G, the iPhone does some things amazingly well (threaded SMS, internet browsing) but still doesn't have a spreadsheet for crying out loud! I depend on Excel, use it constantly in eyecare clinic.
So despite its flaws, the Kaiser is the best thing for me - until Touch Pro for AT&T 3G is available - then I will get that - the 5 row keyboard and the VGA screen are the big pluses there, and you can never have too much memory.
You know I researched a lot before buying my tilt, knowing I would need to unlock and flash it to get the functionality I wanted. I could not be happier with my purchase. Things I know I can not do with an Iphone easily or at all at no additional cost include excel & word editing, connect to Citrix, RDP, tether my laptop by either USB or BT. As for the d3d drivers, while they would be nice I don't see them as mandatory since this is first a phone and a PDA not a iPod. That said, I have no issue other than bandwidth when I comes to streaming media through ORB to my TILT and playback is more than acceptable for me.
Just do it since your no stranger to flashing,
z
