rom question - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

is there anyway to keep ur number text etc... after flashing a rom everytime i do it it erases all my info help plz thanks in advance

If I understand what you are asking. I use spb backup to create a full backup off all my personal files/setting/contacts/docs and so forth to my mini sd card. Then when I install a new rom or hard reset, I just run the self extracting archive spb backup makes and everything is back to normal.

what to backup???

Hi I'm tired of re-installing all my programs after every upgrade to new rom. I know people here were talking of back ups so they could get back all their programs after upgrade. I'm confused as to what and which folder to backup. Note most of my programs are installed in SD card. Messages, contacts and emails are no problem it's just the programs. Help appreciated. Thanks.
??? nobody knows the answer???/ Pls!!!
you can use Sprite Backup...and NS Contacts for your numbers and stuff...

Sprite is the only app that can restore after upgrading your ROM. I suggest you make a full backup (including sd card) and use upgrade mode to restore after the ROM update. Make sure you read the FAQs first.

It is recommended not to use a full restore when changing from different rom versions as a lot of system data, registry entires, databases etc will be different resulting in an unstable rom.
It is better to use a custom restore and only restore PIM info (contacts/emails etc). There are other backup apps out there including Sashimi which allows you to automatically reload apps inc. settings etc so process or restoring apps is quicker.
What you could try is the full restore and try and retrieve your information on 'one note'. Once retrieved (if successful) copy info on paper or try and save it to SD card. Then perform a hard reset and then only restore PIM info. Even if your full restore seems to have had no affect on new rom, I would still not continue to use this and would preform hard reset. You will most likely have restored older information from older rom and as a result will have possibly lost some of the newer functionality, graphics, apps etc of new rom

backup

I want to consider going to another ROM but my current one is running pretty sweet. Currently I am on Perception 4. If I do a backup through the recovery menu, can I copy that off to my external SD put whatever on I want and if I dont like it just slap the external in, copy the backup file to my internal sd and be back where I started? Any gotchas???
Sorry but the best you can do is run titanium backup backup all ur apps because when u flash another rom it clears ur data so u have to reinstall all ur apps. Via titanium backup I think I know what ur saying u can flash a new rom and if don't like it u can flash the backup file and BAM u have perception back just as it was before u flashed but it doesn't work like that u have to set up ur icons and everything on ur homescreen and reinstall ur apps via titanium backup here's some help tho in titanium backup to help restore ur apps quicker at the main screen of ti. Press the menu button then hit batch then hit hit restore all missing apps with data it makes it go by much quickr

[Q] Sim Contacts and Sim Menu

Hello Guys and Devs. Sorry if this will be a noob question for you, but your the only i know who can help me,. FYI, using I9070, i've flash a CustomROM (OmniROM - my first time to flash custom ROM) last night - from Stock JB to OmniROM 4.36 buill 12-19-13. i found it very nice but i have a problem in viewing my contacts in my SIM and also i dont see my SIM MENU on my application. I did a factory reset for this Custom ROM, wipe cache and dalvik but nothing happens. Other says that i need to go back toi Stock JB so i can sync my contacts to google and flash again this CustomROM. Is there other way to view my contacts on sim not doing a downgrade..? Please help me guys and master there..? MERYY XMAS to all and God Bless Us ALL. Thanks in advance.
The best way is to make a backup of your contacts. Sure you can save it in your sim but for smartphones it is better to make a backup file of contacts(contact.vcf file). And for your case, make a backup of current rom to restore later. Then flash back stock and make a backup file of your contacts. Just use the export function in stock to save it on your external sd. Then flash back omni and restore your previously nand backup back.

I am assuming you do not have a backup of your contacts as contacts.vcf file and all your contacts present in sim card. Again you have factory reset OMNI rom, so there is no point taking a nandroid backup of this rom.
First Flast Stock JB using ODIN. then copy all your sim contacts to phone using the menu settings in contacts app in stock rom. Now export all your phone contacts to device SD card as contacts.vcf file. Copy this contacts backup file to your PC.
Now you again flash omni rom. Put contacts.vcf file in device internal memory and not in external sd card. Do import of contacts in contacts app and you will get all your contacts in OMNI rom.

[Q] Critical Out of Space Problem

It is first occurred after installing recoveries from this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649923
I was new that time so take out backup of system from ROM manager app, it started backup into internal memory, after a which it ran out of space so i rebooted in system.
XSP prompt low internal space message so i decide to delete backup file. succeed to delete from Rom Toolbox root browser.
n from now on this problem started.
i tried deleting .odex files from /data/app nothing happened.
some one suggested to delete .odex files from /system/app, i started deleting butt it turns into soft brick (bootloop).
so i flashed XSP with stock ROM 4.3 India with the help of this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658952
i lost all my data n all but i was happy to see that problem is gone.
then i started rein-staling all apps + root app like super SU, Rom toolbox, titanium backup, luckypatcher (same as before).
then i realize xsp is not rooted so I rooted again with Towelroot n installed recoveries.
everything goes fine for some day n problem occurred again. :crying:
then i find a trick to wipe cache/ dalvik cache, i tried it without taking out backup.last all data again but problem is gone again.
i stared reinstalling apps again.everything goes fine for few days.
n then problem started again. i take out backup first (TWRP) then start wiping cache n all.
then i start recovering that backup,
But This Time Problem won't gone keep showing OUT OF SPACE message again n again, also unable to install app from play store.
i dont want to flash it again coz problem will come again.
sorry for bad English.
please help me guys..
please reply n help me.
Thanks in Advance
You should start all over again and use an external mini SD for your backups and media files.
Backup to external SD card from recovery rather than backing up to your internal memory.
Backup files are known to be large files.

No, just wipe everything on your internal SD card.
Wipe /cache, /data... etc.
Format /system
And then start over again like you've just bought your phone.
You must have a load of bloatware since I cannot image an internal SD card being full with only installing a few apps.

i have done that before n its perfect solution.
but then why problem appears after few days.
n should i restore backup from TWRP, asking because i noticed that if i restore it, problem wont go.
If you restore a nandroid backup from recovery it will not solve your problem!
There are always folders with files in them that remain on your internal memory.
Restart all over (format) and when you're installing big apps like games or so, move them to your external SD card.
If not, you will be confronted with the same problem over and over again.
Simple logic if you ask me...

You possibly have one or more nandroid backups in your internal memory.
Check folder clockworkmod\backup.
There might be some folders in there. Delete any backups (complete folder) which aren't needed.
To avoid running out of memory again, backup to external SD card from now on.

Don't make a nandroid backup. Just make backup of apk's then make a backup of contacts manually in vcf format and all other things you need. Then partition your SD card and then use App2SD and make your internal memory grow more in space don't follow anyone's else crap suggestions.
If I helped press thanks

It seems you're having a personal grudge against me now. Grow up, kid!
Telling people not to use a nandroid backup is what I call a "crap" suggestion!
I can name millions of reasons why it is always good to have a full nandroid backup.

Who keeps grudge that I know
And as far as it is about making a nandroid backup then keep in mind that Nandroid Backup makes backup of compelete device as it is in what so ever state it is. He download apps over and over again so it's better to backup apk's rather than a nandroid backup And yeah you help me growing up if you know XD
