Big Mistake - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I made a huge mistake while trying to upgrade my Sprint ppc 6600 to WM6. Not reading the very top heading I proceeded to upgrade my phone. After the process was complete I couldn't figure out why it was not working. I saw that my version could not support WM6. The phone won't do anything. How can I reinstall the old version of WM2003se.....thanks

Put your device in bootloader mode, and then run the upgrade utility for your original rom

Bootloader question/trouble

Hey there everyone, I am pretty new to this forum so I must apologize for throwing you all into the deep end. I recently purchased an o2 XDA mini S second hand from a guy on boards.ie here in Ireland. I got the phone and really liked it because it allowed me to get rid of my Dell Axim X3i and mp3 player and keep it all in one device.
After a little bit of more research I discovered that I could remove some of the bloatware from the o2 xda mini S by just hard resetting and choosing the basic option which I than did. Still not satisfied with the overall performance of the XDA I decided to try a rom upgrade. Not wanting to do a totall overhaul I decided to just do a radio upgrade first.
My device is sim unlocked, it was like that when I bought it. I used the latest wizard service tool to CID unlock the device before I even flashed the phone. I also used the wizard service tool to change the nk.nbf file within the o2 mini S radio update into 96000000-GSM.nb. I then used this file to write to the GSM radio code (Bdk 1) according to the wizard service tool in the hopes that it would upgrade my radio version.
Well when I restarted, nothing of the sort happened, on the boot screen I noticed I was now missing my GSM version and when the phone finally got into windows mobile, it did not pick up any signal even though beforehand it could. The phone also became super slow to the point where it was unusable.
I have gone into bootloader mode subsequently after reading on this forum and tried to reflash with a number of updates with active sync disabled and nothing else running with the phone connected via usb to the pc. None of the updates would even pick up the phone or allow me to flash it.
My phone is pretty much screwed, I have a spare so it is not that big of an issue but I would like to make this usable again if at all possible. So my question is how do I flash a rom while the phone is in bootloader mode?
P.S I forgot to include the Current boot screen details:
IPL - 1.05
SPL - 1.05
OS - 1.5.4.2
Hi,
You can use the Wizard Love Rom from here http://rapidshare.com/files/17792050/Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii_CF2.rar
Hey there, thanks for the advice, I did download that ROM but like I said before, none of the roms manage to flash my XDA because they all cannot seem to connect to it. Activesync does not even pick it up in windows mode, and even when I have it connected in bootloader mode via usb and I double click on the love rom, it goes through the motions but never managed to "verify the information with the pda"
Try a stock Tmobile ROM but not from bootloader. Also, I would check the activesync app on the device. Make sure it's set to use USB as the default connection method.
A few other steps to try...
Uninstall ActiveSync and install an older version. If still no go, try a newer version.
Try a different USB cable and/or USB port.
Try a different computer with XP, not Vista.
Try flashing it without the SIM card or any memory cards.
If all else fails, you can try the SD card flashing method. There are instructions in the Wiki on how to do it, but always a stock ROM.
Try this one... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311027
Updated IPL/SPL and radio 2.69
Hey Devis, I think I have come one step closer, I tried all the suggestions that you made. Except well now my phone will not even go into the operating system when I switch it on. It will boot and the version numbers show but then it just resets itself.
I tried a different usb cable and I am not using vista, tried a different pc and the same result. The one place I did have some marginal success was the sd card method.
Basically what happened is that It backed up the OS from my phone and then reloaded it, not exactly what I wanted since the OS and rom are both screwed on the phone so my question at this point is, is there anyway using the SD card method to load one of the stock roms onto my phone?
I searched around the net and found the opposite to the "r2sd all" function, would be the "s2d" function, would that allow me to flash the phone with a stock rom?
Thanks for your time, I am going to call it a night here in ireland and head to bed.
Ok, if the phone resets then you probbably have a dead/dying battery. Charge it for about an hour or so using the wall charger, not the USB cable. Try to restart it and see if you can get in the OS. I was looking in the SD card method thread and some guy was successful at restoring the image from the SD even though his OS had died. He then had a fully functional phone.
The other thing to do would be to get the image file from someone that has a living and breathing wizard, preferably one with a stock ROM. Since this method is the equivalent of making an image of a PC using Ghost, the restoration of such an image to your Wizard should work just fine.
Just make sure that the other Wizard is SIM and CID unlocked. Or just go buy a Wizard from the store, unlock SIM and CID, copy the image on the SD and flash your device. Or... since u've got a new Wizard in your hands, just take the freaking thing appart and swap the guts return the store bought wizard to the store saying that the thing just doesnt freaking work!
As for the AT commands... it is possible that s2d would workfor you, it doesn't work in my wizard. from what i have been reading it appears that the bootloader is password protected and that password is randomly generated. I haven't played long enough with it to figure out how to get the password.
It looks like you've got some "trial and error" processes ahead of you. There is a wealth of info on bootloader AT commands on Wiki, nothing for the Wizard though. But something may work... not sure.
I could try to get you a ROM dump from my Wizard but I already am on SPL/IPL 3.08 and running WM6. the SPL/IPL version alone wouldn't allow you to restore from my backup.
Hey Devis, thanks for your time, just woke up here, will work some more on the phone today and let you know what is going on
Hey Devis, I did not even get a chance to fiddle around with the phone today, from being able to switch on less than 24 hours ago, it does not even want to switch on now so I am going to officially declared it a brick and move on. Will see if anyone can fix it for me, spent way too much time already when I should be working on my dissertation, thanks alot anyway
Sorry to hear that...
I have bricked one phone myself in the past... my old Pana GD87 and I absolutely loved that phone. I know how you feel.
Good luck with your dissertation.

Can't upgrade OS BUT phone is unlocked!

So I been trying to upgrade my OS to the tnt 1437, however every time I try my old OS keeps popping up (OS: 5.1.xxx (Build 15671FARIA.3.5)) ... so for the last 3 days I been trying to search this site for any answers, however all I get is that only happens if the CID is locked, but my phone isn't 1) I unlocked it before to upgrade it in the first place to the above mentioned OS and 2) I checked its status with the Wizard Service Tool (which is AWESOME). So i'm at a lose here as to why every time I either upgrade or downgrade the ROM the same OS keeps showing up. BTW Everything else I can upgrade except the OS. Any help is appreciated. thanks!
I've had this.. flash the original rom (or wizard_love rom or something) and then reflash your WM6 ROM.
Don't forget to hard-reset when you're using the ShellTool to flash
Yea I forgot to mention I've done that. I've downgraded to both button ROM and love ROM however I get the same results, the IPL and SPL are downgraded but not the OS. The only thing I have NOT done is the hard rest, is that the missing link here?

Bricked Vodafone Kaiser ... HELP!

Hey Chaps,
Just thought earlier today i'd have a go at upgrading my phone with the new HTC firmware for my Vodafone Kaiser. First i tried it on it's own only to find the 'vendor' had blocked the upgrade, then i ran the HARDSPL software, when it rebooted my phone to the tri-colour screen i stopped pressing enter on the batch file and ran the HTC upgrade again! ... success - sort of; the upgrade got to 15% and stopped with a connection error (my usb's dodgy i think), then when the phone rebooted to the tri-colour boot loader it'd a) no longer accept the HTC Rom (vendor thing again) and b) become irritatingly broken.
Is it possible to flash an older vodafone rom to the device? if so, where can i find such a beast. Or does anyone know of any devilish ways to put the new rom on using the bog standard bootloader?
Thanks in advance big time to any clever phone experts who can de-brick my... er... brick
Dan.
your supposed to install hardspl before upgrading it if you try it on its own it will brick it at least thats what i heard from the stickies
azazelx, he has hardSPL installed, anyway.
@JimmyJangle: flash via microSD card. Read here.
You need winrar to extract file nbh from the shipped ROM.exe.
Hmm, i don't think i do have HardSPL actually installed,
When i saw the tricolour screen come up with different version information I stopped that batch file that was installing HARDSPL (impatiently) and started the HTC one (which failed at 15%). So now i (think) i have a phone with no firmware and the bootloader says:
KAIS130
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD=8
I reckon if i can find a vodafone made rom the bootloader'll let me install it.
Any idea where i could find one?
What is ur orginal shipped ROM?
Your solution now is flash back the orginal ROM by using microSD card method I mentioned above, install HardSPL succesfully, then flash whatever ROM you prefer.
Hey Nghiem,
Thanks for the help, that link doesn't go anywhere though.
Also, wouldn't i need the original rom from somewhere in order to do that?
Thanks,
Dan
where did you buy the phone e.g vodafone, orange, etc...so I can tell you the original ROM? Because you phone CID is not unlock, hence you must flash the back the shippied one.
Get the WM 6.1 Vodaphone official here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365058
Hi,
I got the phone from Vodafone in the UK.
It had WM5 on it... erm, that's it.
I've just beem trying to load original voda roms back on to it but it's not happy - i don't know if they really are the originals though, one says 'reconstructed'.
Dan
Actually, that was the rom i tried and it came up with the Vendor ID error.
Dan.
Link on post #6 is the official not reconstructed. How about download directly from Vodafone website? It's strange when you have carrier ID block even with its ROM. Also, try reconstructed ROM listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1586817&postcount=2
Search for mtty, see if it can help you out.
MTTY saved the day!
Only 3 hours of my life lost!
Thanks,
Dan
Cheers. Don't forget to flash HardSPL and read the wiki before doing anything.

SW & Firmware Version

I’ve been trying for weeks without success to upgrade from WM 5 to 6.1 on the Treo 750. I’ve used Herm Unlock v3, Magic Unlocker & CheetahUnlocker they all run ok, I’m pretty sure the device is unlocked! I’ve used 3 different sources to DL the ROM copied to SD card which is FAT32, CHEEIMG.nbh resides at the root. + Reset + left button.
Rainbow screen appears
CHEE100
IPL-0.20
CHEE100
SPL-1.40.01iNex
And that is as far as It gets!!!! it just sits there and does nothing.
I’m following every steps to the letter but still it doesn’t succeed, the only thing I can think of through reading all the threads is that the SW & Firmware version on the actual device seem to be different compared to everyone else’s, if I navigate to settings/About/phone I see the following:
Software version
Palm Build 272
HTC Version 1.01
Hardware version
P1
Serial Number:
***********
Phone Number:
***********
Firmware Version
1.16.00.00
IMEI
***********
SA Number
Unknown
Software & Firmware Version, seem to be different on this device, is there any method for upgrading this?
I have not tried the GUI version of the upgrade utility (if anyone has a DL link, I will attempt that too)
All advice very welcome
Is the storage card fat32? It has to be...
Is the storage card fat32? If you did not format it, then it is not. It comes by default as FAT16. You must format it as FAT32, then copy the ROM file to the drive. If not, it will just sit there, like you describe.
Hi a011528:
I feel your pain! I've been trying to get my Treo 750 unlocked for weeks! I finally did it!
If the boot loader is any indication, it looks like you have successfully unlocked your phone. The boot loader screen (which you can see if you press and hold the bottom button on the left side of your phone, while pressing reset to the right of the SD card socket) does display what it should:
CHE100
IPL-0.20
CHEE100
SPL-1.40.Olinex
At this point, once that screen is displayed, it will stay displayed until you press reset again.
Now, as for the Software/Firmware versions, I'm thinking that those will depend on the carrier that the phone originated from, or would be different if it originally came unlocked from Palm. For instance, my Cingular phone displays this:
Software Version: TREO750-1.13-CNG
Firmware Version 1.16.00.00
What brand/carrier is your phone? Can you use a different SIM from a different carrier? If so, then the phone is unlocked.
Now, as I understand it, Unlocking the phone is different from Upgrading Windows from 5.0 to 6.0/6.1! For example, I have, so far, only unlocked my phone. So I still have Windows 5.0!
Unless I'm totally wrong here, you're trying to upgrade to Windows, but all you've done so far is unlock the phone.
I believe it must be unlocked in order to use any of the Windows upgrades that are not "official" for your particular type of phone. As I understand it, ATT/Cingular did release an "official" Windows 6.0 upgrade.
But the carrier for your phone may not have released an official upgrade, so you'll need to use one of the ones found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335402
Bear in mind that I'm only a few days ahead of you in this process, and I'm by no means anyone you should listen to!! But I've just successfully gotten through the unlock, so I can at least help a little with that!
Would anyone care to jump in here and let me know how much, if anything, I've said in this post is correct!!
you can always flash with usb cable through activesync. thats how i flash my treo and tilt. download a kaiser custom ruu. unzip it if zipped. should look like a mini tilt. put into a seperate folder the ruu and the rom file. rename the rom file before starting to RUU_signed.nbh then run the ruu. follow the instructions on the screen. thats all. very important to make sure activesync is synced before starting. also dont run any other programs or browse the web while flashing cause it can cause a bad flash and dont let the computer go into stand by or hybernate while flashing.
