XDA IIs ROM - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi, I had my XDA IIs for quite a while now, and was thinking of updating it's ROM. But all the links for the latest XDA IIs ROM that I click on lead to nothing. Where can I find the latest ROM version?
Thanks,
RMSe17
P.S. Apparently WM6 can make this thing faster? Hm.. I'd still like the latest official ROM *just in case*

XDA IIs (Blueangel) Rom
Hi RMSe17,
There has not been an "official" ROM for quite a while, the following link has the Jun 2005 ROM
http://www.seeo2.com/support/XdaIIs/template/ServiceMenu.vm/region/au/lang/EN
I recently installed Windows Mobile 6 (using Helmi's Kitchen V2), really happy with the results, Not sure which version I am using the XDA says Rom 5.6.0 WWE does anyone know the latest and greatest WM6 version that is stable as at today? The version I am using is almost perfect except for a minor font issue in one program designed for WM5.
Cheers, Justin.

XDA IIs' official ROM is still WM2003se...
When you upgrade to WM6, you'll forget about the official.
just dont use the system password in WM6 then life will be smooth sailing from there.

I think the ROM from the SourceO2 site comes with the wrong tools, I believe they are for the Himalaya not the Blue Angel. The iMate ROM comes with tools starting "BA" whereas the O2 ones start "Hima".
Well I flashed this rom a couple of days ago...

It worked and my Xda IIs is now back to life.

Official ROM From Siemens, unofficial 1.40 WM05 most stable?

I am just curious as to what you guys think.
I have been using WM05 for about a week now and decided i can't deal with the current bugs so I am going back to 1.40. I also realized i can go back further and go back to the official rom from siemens.
Also, can someone post the official SX66 rom from siemens? I can't get to the site for somereason.
Back to my first question.....which do you guys think is most stable?
Also, besides WM 10 why is 1.40 improved over the official version from siemens? Honestly, I only used the siemens rom for one day and i immediatly upgraded to the 1.40 rom...so i am unfamiliar with the lack of features found in that old rom.
thanks for the help!

have you checked here?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Upgrades
You can't get to the Siemens SX66 site now because they have totally removed the phone and all links to the phone from their site. I have no idea yet why they have done that.
I had used Siemens officail ROM for months and recently about a month ago, changed over to 1.40 from SX66 standardisation project. THis 1.40 ROM is equally stable and I am happy with it.

If you want WM2003SE, I recommend Orange 1.31 with the 1.15 radio, I've found this the best and the fastest combination so far. If you want to use WM5, Wizard Port 1.0-TuMa is the way to go (link in my signature).
Thanks but arn't there any vodafone specific ones? not to keen on using cooked roms had nothing but problems with lockups and such when I had the xda 1

I've checked the FTP and I can't find any WWE Vodafone ROMs for BA, unfortunatelly (though there are some german ones). However, cooked ROMs works really well for many people with BA devices (including me) so you might want to give it a try.
well gave up and stuck with latest original O2 rom everything working including wifi internet and email so alls well

Re: ROM UPDATE

Re: ROM UPDATE
Hi all my questions may sound dumb but I am a newbie and want to learn!
I have read the wiki but couldn’t find what I was after.
I am thinking about updating my ROM software from 1.40.00 WWE to the latest one offered on the 02 website which is a v1.40.242.
I am running windows mobile 2003 2nd edition version 4.21.1088. Does anybody if I update my ROM will I have to re-install the Windows mobile 2003? As I bought this phone 2nd hand off ebay I don’t have any recovery cds for the windows mobile software. What does the Software update and does it install a operating system when it updates or does it keep the one I am running?
As it is if I update my xda 2s with the latest rom from the o2 website would it mean that after the update my xda would run on the same windows mobile 2003 software or would one be installed with the ROM update?
Also has anyone updated with the latest o2 rom update and has it made their xda 2s more stable? I am not sure whether I should update as I don’t want any more trouble than I already have with my xda! Any help will be appreciated by a newbie in distress!
Thanks
Rio
hi there,
usually the latest rom provided by your vendor, mean there could be big fixes, performance enhancement over the current one, read changelog to be sure of though.
if you decide to go ahead and update it
1. NO YOU DONT NEED RECOVERY CD
2. you will need to reload your own installed application after update.
3. rom update = total current os wipe out and reload a new one, all done by update process itself. so dont worry about that
most ppl in this forum has already given up on the current and stable official rom (windows mobile 2003 SE).
few the guys here like Logout, Tuma and othere are working on a stable release of windows mobile 2005. and we are greatful for their hard work
imatrix
No one has recovery CDs for these phones. While a minor upgrade from your operator is common, having a major upgrade to e.g. WM5 is very rare.
Updating the phone is like a ROM flash on your computers BIOS. So long as you are connected to mains and don't pull the plug, errors are very rare. Especially with the official ROMs.
Finally, all ROM updates improve stability. They wouldn't spend time and money on them just without a big benefit. Testing and releasing a ROM is quite a big deal for the telcos.
EDIT: oops, posted the same time as imatrix. Twice the answers for the same price!
Thanks guys for your help, hoepfully i will be updating my ROM from the o2 website will try the official update since i am new to all this!!! depending how i get on with the uopdate then I may try others!
Once again thanks and im glad there is help outhere as i dont know what id do without this forum!!!
Thanks

Hey RIO
i did the exact same upgrade with my O2 UK version with 1.40 about a week ago.. once i got that done... i went ahead and upgraded to 2005... which is so much better then the 2003.... so i would suggest upgrading to the IVAN LATEST 2005 ROM WITH RAMDISK... if you don't care much about how the software looks and works.. then just upgrade it with the latest SHIPPED (o2) Rom.. it improoves lot of bugs.. but one problem i had with latest o2 rom is that the Hearing vollume of the phone goes down a little.. not too much...

Newbie: How to do WM6 Upgrade for O2 XDA Mini S using XDA Orbit WM6 OS.nb?

Hello,
I am really new to this topic and would like to upgrade my O2 XDA Mini S to WM6 (german). The device currently runs on one of the last original Qtek-Firmware Versions using CID unlock.
I figured out that O2 offers an official upgrade to WM6 for the XDA Orbit and was able to extract the 06_os.nb from the whole upgrade-rom (nbh-file). Is it possible to use the original (german) O2 OS Upgrade with the latest OS Firmware for my XDA Mini S to upgrade to WM6 German Edition or is there any other German Firmware including WM6 for my Wizard?
I found some methods on ROM Cooking, but none of them were basing on a existing OS ROM of third Firmware. Despite of that the process of building a whole ROM seems very complicated and risky to me. Is there an less complicated solution?
Best Regards
Gabriel

no, there are hardware differences which matter - keyboard, different buttons etc

Hello, thanks for your answer. I would use someone's custom-rom but I would like to have a german version which I wasn't able to found yet. Is there any version in German language available anywhere?
What about the ROM-Kitchen tools availble somewhere here? I figured out that some ROM-Chefs use the microsoft emulator images as basis for their custom roms. There is a german version of these rom's available too. Can I Cook my own ROM on basis of the emulator image using one of the ROM-Kitchen tools?
Best Regards
Gabriel
A German WM6 is currently in the works. You can get all the info and contribute here.
Enjoy!
