Hi, I know this sounds quite stupid and n00bish but I want to organize the programs into separate directories as Dutty has done in his ROMs. For e.g. programs like Registry Editors find their place in "Utilities" directory, all games go into "Games" folder etc etc. Can someone please tell me the way in which I can do this with all the programs that I install ? Actually this will make use of QuickMenu 2.7 less messy.
Thanks in advance !!!!
using file explorer Browse into folder \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Create folders and cut & paste the shortcuts / applications into
various folders
Tada you are done....
Thanks a lot rohanmaini...

Hi i want to organise my programs in the start menu\programs into folders so they arent scattered all over the place can anyone help??????
open your file explorer, navigate to \windows\startmenu create the folders and move the links into them. suggest you use totalcommander or similar.
Thanks for your reply. But half of my programs are not located in that folder so i can not even move them to the folder.
Please help, as they are totally unorganised and it is doing my head in.
I think that mahsidi should make difference between the programs and a link to it.
In Windows\Start Menu\Programs, you'll find only links. If a program that you install don't automaticly create a shortcut in this place, you'll have to create yourself : with Resco, go to the install folder of your prog, tap and hold on the .exe file and then, use the "Send to" fonction (the "Start Menu as Shortcut" item).
hello
i need to move many application shortcuts from programs menu to folder.
like ofice mobile: contain word, excel , power point...
system tools: internet sharing, comm manager...
i am using romeos rom
Hi,
What you need to do is using your phones File Explorer or something similar, navigate to your windows directory, then the directory called start Menu.
In here you can create new folders and move icons around into different folders. this will then show how you want it to on the Start > Programs menu when you navigate your programs list.
Hope this helps you.

ROMeOS containts Total Commander on the start menu (not in programs). Open it and navigate to the \Windows\Start menu folder, then you move files like in you do in Normal Desktop Windows.
Thanks

I searched couldn't find anything. I want to know if it is possible to put the programs I install into folders in the honeycomb menu, for example put Corplayer in Multimedia. BTW I have energyrom 3.0 build 051209 but that shouldnt be hat important.
yes it is possible, use a file manager such as Total Commander or maybe even just File Explorer goto you program files folder and create a shortcut of the .exe that loads CorePlayer and then move that shortcut into \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Multimedia and then your shortcut will be visible you don't even have to soft reset
ok thanks man
dont mean to be dumb, but when I use file explorer to cut and paste shortcuts in new folders, they appear in the folder and on the start menu. How do I fix that?
think i found what ur lookin 4. its called reSTART

Ok, I've searched and searched and searched and keep coming up short.
I'd like to make shortcuts to program that I've copied from my computer to my SD card. I've tried creating shortcut with Total Commander, but the shortcut is not appearing. What am I doing wrong?
Is it also possible to move a shortcut to another folder? I've installed a game that didn't place the shortcut in the games folder and I'd like to move it to where it belongs.
It's working fine here. Maybe your version of TC os corrupted? I never use it though, I prefer Resco Explorer.
Anyway, you can make shortcuts and place the:m wherever you want. For example, sometimes games install in "Programs" not in "Games" or show no shortcuts at all. I just make a new shortcut or cut the existing one, browse to windows/start menu/programs/games and paste the shortcut there.
u dont need total commander to make a shortcut.
with windows explorer:
if u go to your program files or what ever u want to make a shortcut to and on the .exe file (if its a app) press copy. u can then have a choice to copy the .exe file or make a shortcut where ever u want.
if u want them in your programs menu, after u have copied the .exe file go to windows/startmenu/programs and paste here, also from here u can also paste it the games or any other folder.
Thank you for the quick help. I was failing to go to the windows directory, instead I was going straight to the programs directory. It works now. Your guys' help is much appreciated. Thank you again.
I have ATT Tilt with TPC's stocklike rom, and whenever I go into file explorer and move files in Windows/Start Menu into a different folder, such as a Start Menu subfolder, my phone seems to not understand the change in the filepath, as shortcuts and icons stop working and eventually a hard reset occurs. So I assume in order to organise my icons, I will have to edit the filepaths in registry? Could somebody please point me to where and how to do this, or to a program which will facilitate the changes I desire to make? Im sorry if its a noob question, I have looked around the registry a bit and only managed to become confused and frustrated. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
please describe your intent a bit more precisely...
what i understand is that you simply want to organize the icons/links in your start menu into subfolders...is this a correct understanding?
if so, then you must first understand that files already present in the "\Windows\Start Menu" folder are actually "links", or shortcuts. you can freely move these files into subfolders rooted at "\Windows\Start Menu".
if you are moving the actual program files that these shortcuts point to, then that will cause all sorts of problems, such as what you describe as "shortcuts and icons stop working".
so the idea is to move existing shortcut files as you see fit. if one or more programs/applications don't appear in the start menu, first create a shortcut file to the said applications. leave the application files where they are and place the newly created shortcut in the "\Windows\Start Menu" folder or one of its subfolders to your liking.
i suggest "total commander" to perform advanced file and folder manipulation. it will also allow creating shortcut files as well as editing the paths stored in shortcut files (if i remember correctly).
finally, the device should NEVER hard reset on its own, even for pretty big screw ups with moving files around. most program files will be unmovable with the regular file explorer anyway. so, the operating system effectively protects and prevents major f-ups anyway.
if you are using one of TPC's WM6.5.x ROMs, you will read in the FAQs for nearly all WM6.5.x ROMs that the ONLY known and reported reason for the device to hard reset on its own when using one of these ROMs is if you did not flash a "stock ROM" first before flashing said ROM.
hope this helps...
Thanks a whole bunch!!
Moving my icons into subfolders was exactly what I was talking about. I hahd thought that that rom was the one 6.5 rom that you didnt have to flash stock first, but I was wrong. Flashed stock then flashed back to the rom & radio and it worked like a charm. Cant believe I missed such a simple step, but definitely a big thanks for your help and knowledge!!
