There is possibility to change manner of saving contact name to 'First Last' <-> 'Last, First' etc. in each of the contacts separately. But I'm looking for a solution how to do it on all contacts at once, but without using Outlook or any other computer software (directly in the device).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...
Please search the forum, I am sure I answered this questuon about a year ago. It involves downloading a few cab files, which give you that option in the context menu. I no longer have the files ( did not need them), but there is still a link floating around here somewhere.

Thanks, I'll do that.
Ive searched quite a few times for this in the past, tagging this thread to remind me to check it, if you manage to find these cabs and get it running Eva, post back in here

I've found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=966683&postcount=3
But not tested yet. Paul from MoDaCo also suggested using WebIS Toolbox for that.
Those are the .cab files I meant. Install them on your device, then select all your contacts (there is a separate .cab for that as well, not available in that thread, you have to search for it, it provides an option in your context menu) and then bring up your context menu. Then select the way you want to store your contacts. Worked on my Hermes, not tested on my kaiser

'Select all contacts' would be the secret then, as it's not possible to select multiple contacts by default...
Correct, but I found a .cab file around that period that makes it possible. It only works once though, after selecting all contacts once, only a soft reset would enable you to do it again, some kinda bug I think. But that file was posted here at xda or at modaco, it worked for me.
check out this tool @ http://www.shubaroo.com/index.php?module=contact. it's worked for me without issue...

Thanks - it looks very promising, and I'll test it later in the evening
You need no .cabs to change the way the contact names are displayed on your WM6 Kaiser. Just select a contact and select edit then scroll down till you come accross "File as" click the drop down box and this will give you several options by which to list your contact. For example: John Smith, Smith John or Company Name (Even By Nickname). Try this out.. And hope it helps.
Yeah, sorry read your question wrong...Sorry don't think there is a built in option to change whole list at once. Better stick to those .cabs
Am I Bad!?
Hi folks,
Is there a way to remap the soft keys on the Kaiser?
I am sure there is; I would appreciate it if someone explained to me how.
I had to uninstall Pocket Informant and I can't access the original Calendar app on the left soft key!!!
Many thanks,
MAC

SoftKey Changer
There you go.. Install, soft reset, and its under Start -> Settings -> System
I gave it a try but my expectations were that would be what that soft key would be no matter what program I'm in, but that is not the case. I guess I'll use somethign else like AE Button to get teh keys I want.
Thanks for the post though.
[EDIT]
By the way, after uninstalling, the button assignments remain. Interesting.
Yep use AE Button. It's an amazing tool! Although be careful what you change as it can mess up your device used carelessly.

Thanks very much. I will give this a try.
In the meantime I had to restore a previous version from SPB Backup and this got sorted. I have decided not to re-install Pocket Informant 8 as it caused some isues with ringtones and performance.
I put this on my HTC Tilt and it works awesome, exactly what i was looking for to change the two soft keys.
Hi there, hope everyone is well.
I installed the softkey changer cab , and it seemed to install fine. I was able to find it under settings with no problem and set the left softket to 'new sms'. However when I try to actualy use this from the homescreen i get an error message saying:
"The file 'tnsms' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components could not be found. If the problem persists try reinstalling or restoring this file."
I have tried reinstalling, but got the same problem. I can still send an sms if I go through contacts, or messaging, but would love to have this as a working softkey as it tends to be the function I use the most.
Other than installing google maps and opera mini, there have been no changes made since I received the phone a few days ago. It is a standard HTC tytn II.
I'm completely new to this, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, James.

This helped:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357163
Essentially, change the value of the key to /Windows/(your SMS program)
Mine was tmail.exe.
Now I wonder... how do I not go to the messages screen and go directly to a new SMS?
I'm having the same problem on a Tilt.

Thanks for the advice, I will probably give that a go when I've stopped being so scared of changing registry stuff.
I did find another app that does the trick though. Just make sure you add a shortcut to 'new sms' first (bottom option of the config screen), you should then be able to assign this to either softkey.
Works for me, and I'm able to go straight to a new sms from the homescreen.
Hope it helps, all the best.

Hello,
For the past few days the (from what I gather) well-known problem of not being able to install or run an 'untrusted' application has been plaguing me. However, I've been searching here and googling around for a long time now with no result...
Been using Dutty's 5.2.19199 (WM6.1) and I really didn't change any setting! So what gives? Any ideas?Basically, how do I get the prompt back (the one during installation)?
Thanks in advance!

Check your registry settings! Use KaiserTweak or Schaps' AdvanceConfig!
Yes, I know it must be something in the registry, but what? And, I thought of Tweak and AdvanceConfig but -guess what? They're not authenticated! Argh!

If you are technical, try this: Download KaiserTweak's latest XML file and open the file in Notepad. Then see what registry key(s) is(are) modified for this tweak.
Ah now - that's a great idea! But, do you know of any PC-based registry editor, since I cannot install one on my TyTNII?
If you're really technical, you can follow through with cmonex's way found here.
If not, search for dot fred task manager, which includes a great *FREE* registry editor amongst other tools, much better than PHM Reg Editor, imo....
Whoa, thanks a bunch. I'll try the task manager first (found here, btw), but I'm not sure if I'll be able to run it either - the whole system seems VERY restricted! I'll try to make heads from tails with the instructions in the other thread. Thanks so much!
Btw, I do seem to remember a program that allowed you to edit the PPC's registry from Windows PC, anyone remember that?
Thanks again guys - much, much appreciated!
You can run the untrusted app, i.e. Advanced Conig. Just select yes. Then make the changes.
BTW, to view the xml, just Open notepad on pc & drop the xml in the notepad window.
No I can't that's my problem - it just flat refuses to run it, it doesn't give me the prompt.. that's why I'm asking for a PC-based registry editor!
Anyhow, I'll try it today and will let you know if I manage it!

Here is another PC based mobile registry editor. Simple to use and works well. Havent found any serious problems with it
Yes, I'm trying this right now
Btw, the registry setting seems to be:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\0000101a
Value=1: disabled
Value=0: enabled
Desc.:Enable or disable the warning you get when opening a program that is not digitally signed
A small cab to disable signing-security: Download: http://www.PocketPC-Live.com/ds.cab

The problem with this cab (and another one I had found) is that, once the mobile goes berzerk, you can't install it because, of course, it's unsigned... Catch 22! Thanks anyway - and, by the way, superb site, added to my RSS aggregator at once!
Anyhow, I just applied the reg tweak (set to 0), reset, thing asks me to verify running unsigned start-up programs, I OK them, and then... still same problem! What the heck? There doesn't seem to be any other tweak...

It has to be set to 1 for disabling.. You set to 0?
Regards,
Carty..
Yes, I set it to 0; it was set to 1 (probably an earlier KaiserTweak session), but I actually wanted to get the prompt so that I could tell it that f*cking yes, I want to run/install the app!
Anyhow, been switching between 0 and 1 with no effect... Feel a hard reset coming on, but it's weird because I've found quite a few posts around (not necessarily here) and no solution...
Got the same problem after a white screen after hardspl, but changing the registry worked for me. Thanks, now I can try jumpspl.
Hi there,
I'm fairly new to my Diamond but I love it a great deal.
There is one thing that disturbs me though and that is that I can't sort my phone book other than Name, which is "Last, First", and by Company (I don't bother about Company). I would like to be able to sort my contacts in First, Last Name order, I have a about 300 names in my list and it is really confusing when I don't find who I'm looking for anymore.
I would like to hear with you if there is a way to hack the register or any other solution for my issue.
And no, 3rd party application is not an option, sure, it would do the trick but I want to use and have easy access from the Contact tab.
All help appreciated.
Thanks!
there is a way, but it's not going to be fun, and you may want to do it on the computer in outlook instead.
Outlook on your PC and Windows mobile default to filing contacts as Last Name, First Name as you have found.
however, if you edit a contact, they both have a File as option. here you can select various different options, one of which being first name last name.
it's a bastard having to do it on all contacts, which is why you might want to do it on the computer instead.
hopefully, someone knows of a reg edit that'll fix it.

I developed an Outlook form a few years back that goes through all Contacts and sets the File As fields to First Name Last Name. Is this what you're after? I still have it but haven't used it in ages. Worked perfectly back then.
Feel free to try it (attached and I would recommend backing up your Outlook contacts in a PST first)

I will definitely try your form and I really hope that it does the trick.
But I think there should be a register hack out there somewhere.

In your contacts, on the Diamond, you have the option : "save as", but you've gotta do it manually for each one. Open a contact, tab the right soft-key (menu) choose edit, there you go

Hi there,
using a touch Diamond and some time ago went through a ROM upgrade and used Sprite Backup.
On the messagign screen I now have some phantom mail boxes on the right hand side. If you click on the envelope it will come up saying "no Messages". If you then click on inbox it will take you to the Select an Account screen (as the selected account doesn't actually exist)
If you go through to the Windows Mobile interface you can only see the current mailboxes which are configured.
I have looked into the option of creating a new backup and hard reset and restore without the mail and configure all over again but would like to avoid this as I have found in the past this leaves me with duplicate records (due to sycing with multiple machines).
I am looking to find where I need to go to remove the phantom mailboxes. Looking around I am assuming there must be some configuration files or registry elements for TouchFlo which tells it to display the folders.
Does anyone know where this information is to edit or delete? All ideas are welcome and encouraged.
Thanks in advance

I have the exact same problem and it's quite anoying
i had the problem once too, and then I was advised to use the file i'm posting here. Copy to phone and run the .exe from phone.
I got it from another thread here on XDA-Devs, but don't remember who to credit.. Post if successful.
