I created my own ROM using alex's kitchen tutorial and now no cab will install. When I try it says that it is unsuccessful every time.
Please help!!
Thanks!
Alan
recooked and now it works. I think the problem was that I tried to restore my personal files using sprite backup which claims it can restore to new roms. I just had to manually restore the ppc and now all works.

there is an answer for you question in wiki's

here it's pasted from the link...
///Should I do a restore from backup after I have upgraded my rom to a new version?
Short version N0
Long Version; If you restore a backup after a rom upgrade you are going to downgrade your software to what you had before the upgrade. Thus do a rom upgrade, sync your outlook, re-install your applications, re set your local settings.
Yes you can do it another way but at the momment you are reading BlueAngel For Beginners.///
Thank you, I did look there honest, but not well enough obviously
Hello All,
Got a question about using a restore options after upgrade to a new ROM im on the 2.17 T-Mobile custom rom now and was thinking about going to the 2.2 T-mobile custom rom. I haave both the sprite and spb backup, both work pretty well, my question is can I upgrade the rom and then restore from lets say sprite back up everything including registry and exluding windows directory, otherways its such a pain to go thru all the tweaks and reinstalls. Has anyone tried this ?
I tried Sprite 5.0 and it did not work. When the restore was completed the system went into a hard reset. So I reinstalled my apps using the method I described on my blog here.
Yeah I was reading your blog before, but I tought you were using a older version. I got so much stuff already on and so many tweaks, bookmarks etc... I dont know if its worth it with such a small upgrade no major bug fix no major features.....
I agree, if memory is not an issue then it probably makes sense to wait until an AKU 2.2 or better ROM is available.
Xelencin, how long until you can cook up a T-Mobile AKU 2.2 based ROM?
Hi all, I have a question regarding SPB backup. I have completed a full SPB backup before flashing the ROM. After flashing the ROM if I restore the backup will I go back to where I was before flashing the ROM? For example did I change some of the registry value back to the OLD setting?
Is it better to reinstall all the programs again under after flashing the ROM? Can anyone help to answer? Thanks!

Click to collapse
it will cause some problem if you restore the old rom backup
the better thing is to reinstall all your programs again
Basically it works - EXCEPT that progs get installed on your SD/Internal card/memory, and those create remnants. Easy to sort out if you are even vaguely clued up. I do this, then re-install progs that don't run properly afterwards (usually very few).
I usually run Duttys 6.1 Hybrid V2 w/Cube ROM, but ofcourse like to try other cooked ROMs just to see what the other cooks are working on. My question is restoring after flashing back to my regular ROM and restoring via SPB Backup vs restoring by Sashimi (which I have not used yet) or just reinstall everything by hand (we all know that SUSKS). Which is the better way to restore? Is there anything bad about restoring via SPB backup after flash? Thanks, Kevin
Depending out you are trying to back up you shouldn't use a back up program to back up from one ROM to another ROM. The back up should only be with the same ROM some people do it but IMO it is a bad idea.
Look at using UC complaint ROMS and you pretty much make your ROM flash exactly the way you want it to. Here is a link that explains it.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I am NOT restoring to different ROM, only restoring to the same ROM that the BU is built from. I should probably study up on Sashimi a that way I can rebuild all my apps regardless of flashed ROM. Thanks for the reply and Link. Kevin
Does anyone know how to reinstall the Sprite Backup software that came with the stock rom? I have recently flashed my phone and now want to know if there is a way of reinstalling it.
Find the cab here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446652
Thanks a million. That did the trick.
