Hi.
I did do a search (prior to posting this) and only found one other post regarding this issue, and the question wasn't answered (another issue about morality was explored instead).
Anyway, is there a way to disable the SMS (text) notification feature (i.e the bubble or box that shows a preview of the SMS after it arrives).
I looked at the registry but didnt find a reg entry for this, is there one?
Is there any other way to disable this feature?
thanks
disable Sent Notification:
HKLM|Software|Microsoft|Inbox|Settings|SMSNoSentMs g = 1
and if you want a delivery notification
HKCU|Software|Microsoft|Inbox|Settings|SMSDelivery Notify = 1

Hi Peter, Doesnt the above u mentioned disable the send notification (i.e the notification after you sent an sms?).
What I am looking for is to disable that "arrive" notification. The notification that lets you know that you recieved an sms in a preview format.

Hey friends... I tried to search with all possible keywords on the forum but couldn't find an answer, hence I'm creating a new thread.
I was wondering if there is MOD or Tweak that can prevent a New SMS from being partially opened on the Home screen when it arrives. Instead a Nokia way of indicating a New SMS.
The opened SMS kind of refarains from privacy incase the phone is in someone elses hand.
Please can someone help in this regard...
Thanks in advance

search for ZOOM SMS... you will see a blue sms icons instead of sms showed up!
Its really simple... settings, sounds and notifications, notifications tab, then select whether to display message on screen for each type of new item...
Really should have searched, but here ya go:
Start > Settings > Personal > Sounds and Notifications > Notifications > New Text Message
Then uncheck "Display message on screen".
I'm surprised you didn't look there in the first place.
Fix
Settings>Personal>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications
Event: "Messaging: New text message"
Uncheck "Display message on screen"
I think he means a way for it to display on the title bar instead of the notification. I would like that to and a display of the same manner if you sent it, instead of the big annoying screen a little icon that has a chect and a little envelope and it vibrates the phone and when you recieve a txt it will have a envelope only and it would vibrate the phone or make a sound.
I would love that to happen.

Yes, this is what I mean. Rather a dialog box showing "1 New Message" and the '1' should increase based on the number of new messages.
Thank you all for pointing me towards the right direction. Appreciate it.
For those of you that have a Diamond I have a question for you please.
When you receive an email/sms message, do you receive a pop-up on the screen like the 2007 devices provided (which gave you the option to continue to the message or dismiss it) or do you just get a notification next to the email/sms icon?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Just get a notification next to the icon. Actually I'm going to stop using HTC home because although it looks really nice, I hate that it's not customisable.
You can enable the popup message in Options -> Sounds and Notifications -> Notifications -> Messaging: New e-mail message -> check "Display message on screen".
In diamond, these popups are disabled by default, hence this extra step.
Awesome. Thanks for the feedback.
Hi, i've not ,on my diamond, a feauture that was on my p3600.
when i'm receiving an sms the phone turns on and display the sms on the bottom of the screen. On the diamon the phone turn on but not show the sms only a remainder of a new sms.

Hi,
Hopefully a very answer to what should be a simple setting.
I've migrated to the HTC Incredible S from HTC Magic. The trouble is when I receive a text message the icon is shown but the message itself is also shown on screen. I can't find an option to get rid of that.
All I need is the icon showing me I have a message.
Thanks
Go to Mail -> Settings (by pushing the button with the 3 strips) -> More -> Settings -> Notification settings -> Activate Email notifications.

Hi,
Thanks for replying. However, it's not the mail notification I concerned about but text/SMS notification. I just want to disable the message showing on my screen when a new message is received.
I can't seem to find an option to remove this.
I think your barking up the wrong tree there jkolner, sounds like he is taking about the preview of a text message on the lockscreen....
I have looked for a way to remove this myself, and as far as I can tell the only way to stop it is to use a replacement lockscreen like widget locker. seems a bit of a security oversight in my eyes, should be a setting.
Arh... i use GoSMS so i don't have that problem.
The only thing i can find is Message -> Settings (by pushing the button with the 3 strips) -> Settings -> Notifications.
But that don't solve the problem :-(

You don't have Handcent SMS installed by any chance, do you? That will show any new SMS as a pop-up on your screen by default, but you can switch it off in the settings.

If you use the default lockscreen and the default messaging app, when you get a new text it displays the content on the lockscreen. I think this is the problem he is talking about.

Ah, fair enough. I usually customise the hell out of any phone I get as soon as I switch it on for the first time (and I cannot stand the default Messaging app), so I am oblivious to this particular issue.
I have ChompSMS installed. Again this does not provide a setting to disable this kind of notification. I'll have to look into installing a different lock screen.
I'm just surprised that this is not a setting that can be switched off.
Hi all
I've just bought the Note 9 after managing to crack the screen of my Note 8, which was also on Android 9 and One UI.
Since getting the new phone, I've had some issues with notifications when the screen is off - Whatsapp doesn't notify, unless I switch notifications on but then I'm stuck with the annoying whatsapp pop-up, and it doesn't show up on lock screen notifications.
As well as this, I also have a problem with whatsapp when screen on, not showing all messages. It will either say "conversation: x messages" or "x messages from y conversations"
I had this working just perfectly on my note 8 but I'm really struggling on the Note 9! I hope someone can help?!

The pop-up notification can be disabled in WhatsApp settings > Notifications > Pop-up Notifications > No pop-up.
Check your lock-screen notification settings and then individual app setting of Whatsapp (new addition in Pie) and check if notification is disabled on lock screen.

Do you have many unread chats? Try marking some of them as Read.
If the notification is minimal, then the Message Notification (in individual notification setting) may have been set as 'Silent and Minimized'.

When I disable whatsapp popup, nothing happens, just the screen doesn't wake up at all when a whatsapp alert comes in.
Have checked app setting, which seems ok, and notification on lock screen isn't hidden

Hey, can I have the screenshot of the pop-up you're referring to? I think I may have confused heads-up notification with WhatsApp Message Pop-up.

Hiya,
in terms of the pop up issue, I've found something from the forum which seems to have restored it - disabling lightedge whilst screen on. I'm a bit annoyed about this as I quite like the effect, and it does disable it for all apps, even all the others which work perfectly fine, but hey ho!
My main issue really is whatsapp not waking the screen unless I turn on the whatsapp notification, and I hate that box lol
Thats the real thing I want to try and find a cure for if possible......
