Does anyone know if it is possible to have the phone default to the business number instead of the mobile number of a contact?
This can save me quite some usage costs.
How is it you are calling people? Do you use the default WM6 contact's list?
I type in some of the keys of the keypad until the right contact is found and the press the green button to call the person.
This takes the mobile number as default.
Got it...
I'll explain step by step what i did, just so we know we're on the right page...
Pressed Green Phone button
Typed in name using On-Screen Button's (I typed in Kenny, so dialled 5 3 6 6 9)
When Kenny's name appeard, I pressed and held his name, so a menu appeared from my stylus
I selected "Work"
I immediately hung up (cos i didn't actually want to call him, just test this theory )
From then on, whenever I dialled Kenny, it would default to his work number.
Try this and see if it works, I know it's not an ideal solution, but let me know how you get on...
EDIT: Alternatively, I've just found out you can use the D-pad to change the default. SO step by step again...
Press Green Phone button
Use on-screen dialler
when your desired contact appears, press down on the D-Pad untill you highlight them
When highlighted, press right on the D-Pad to change the default number (for reference; h = home, m = mobile, w = work)
That seems to work.
The problem is however that it takes me to remember I actually called this person before.
The trouble is that I have 700 colleagues with a short (cheaper) business number and a mobile number.
An alternative I tried was to switch the business number and the mobile number in the contacts, but the I get in to trouble when I want to send an SMS.
Thanks for letting me know about the PAD
I was actually calling people and hanging up all over the place until I realized through Your note that I can just go into contacts and while scrolling down the contacts with the nav-pad change their default number by pressing the nav-pad sideways... No need to call people hanging up on them
That sounds excellent.
I tried it and it works for me.
Thanks for the tip.

I read about / tried all the best key-mapping programs (AE Button, hButton, etc.), but I couldn't figure out how do to this..
When I press a certain button once, I want the phone to automatically call a certain contact, without asking for any confirmation. Ideally, announce the name of the contact being called, but no big deal if it doesn't.
Press the same button twice, 3 times, etc. -- the call is placed to other contacts I specify in advance.
I'm just trying to make the PDA car-friendly.. While driving, I still much prefer my $50 Nokia cell phone, which had easy single-button-hold quick-dial.
Thank you for any suggestion..
I have more phone numbers in one contact.
I am searching in the phon a contact and i get one of the phon numbers, i stored in the contact.
How can i select (switch to) an another number of the contact.
Herbert
In dialer use left/right arrow on selected contact. Small letter indicates type of selected number.
if i touch to the left or right arrow, the dialer is dialing the preselected number.
Or simply press the found contact and select which number to call.
I am searching in the dialer.
The contact is on the screen.
If i touch to the contact, the dialer is dialing.
If i touch to the arrow, the dialer is dialing.
If i select the menu, i cannot open the contact.
Dont search in the dialer... Go to contacts-all contacts and you'll get everything. The dial menu is just a call history, not a list of your contacts (its the same list as in home-call history).
OK, i am searching in the dialer.
If I go to contacts-all contacts and I get everything, but not with TouchFLO, not touchabel with fingers.
In the dialer I get all contacts, not only the history. I like it. One or two touches and i have most time the right number.
I hoped for a little help.
When instructed to "use left/right arrow on selected contact", you should be using the arrows around the circular action button, not the tiny arrows on the screen. It works perfectly.
Wow, thank you!!
It works!
I also have more phone numbers in one contact.
but even after a hard reset i still can't select (switch to) an another number of the contact without dialing.
magic circle does not work!
I have a T-Mobile MDA phone.
Must be a reg hack to change the phone select.

I know this function because I always used it with my old WM (Wizard, Tytn II) phones, but now when I search a contact wich I have allready called it gives only the history result and not the contact. On the history line you can't use the left or right key....
Is there a way to let de phonepad search give only the contacts and no history?
Or it has to give both.....

No one has a solution for this
I love the HD, one point that I GREATLY miss is a phone dial menu with the old behaviour TAP and HOLD and choose which phone number to dial.
In my contact list most of my contacts have multiple phones (Home, Office, Mobile, Home2 etc .. etc ..). With the HD in order to change which phone to dial you have to swipe left or right in order to get the right number to call (home instead of office for example). Sometimes I need to swipe 3/4 and 5 times ... very time consuming.
I find the "old" system much more quick, reliable (with "new" phone dial often instead of swiping I accidentaly dial the wrong number) and efficient.
Any way to replace the new phone dial program with a different one with "old" behaviour?
Thanks and happy new year!!
All related.. all potentially embarrassingly simple answer, but I can't find them.
Scenario A: when I go into contacts, I can press and hold a phone # (ie. Fred's mobile) and make it "default".. the number gets a little check mark next to it.... BUT when I voice dial, and say "call fred"... it brings up fred's work #.. not the mobile #
a) what gives? how do I get it to prefer the # I made default?? (one would think that is what the default designation would do)
b) is there a way once it brings up the correct contact, but with the wrong #, to rotate between that contacts possible #s?
Scenario B: Go into call log, see a call from Fred on his mobile, but I want to call Fred at work.. I can press Fred and it offers "Call again".. but similar to b) above, is there a way to easily switch to Fred's mobile # instead?
thanks,
Mike
Senario A

B) min gives me a list of numbers to select??
Senario B

Scen A
So I tried "Sue" instead.. lo and behold, for Sue it does give me options.. but for "Fred".. even tho Fred has 3 phone #s
- mobile (marked as default)
- work
- company (tho displayed as "company main")
So... I changed "company" to "other"... and LOL, now this gets stupid... now when I say "Call Fred" it offers me
- work
- other
but NOT "mobile" even tho all 3 are listed in Fred's contact info.
!?!?!
Scen B... bummer, I was hoping there was a shorter way (like swiping the phone number sideways)
Just trying to find a way to paste a code into the dialer ... or better.
I have a special service for international calls. I have to call a number and then I am supposed to punch in the number I actually want to call. Ideally, I'd just like to be able to select the contact number and have the number be entered when I hit the number.
Any ideas??
Press and hold the area above the num pad, release your finger and you'll see the standard paste menu like in every text form

I tried that of course, and the paste does not appear.
Like this?
https://imgur.com/Pstfhb3 (sorry for German language, but it should be understandable)
There's also a Telephone button inside the context menu.
Not exactly. When you open the dialler, you can in fact paste. This what you have shown.
But once the call is being made, you can no longer paste. Even when you go back to the keypad.
Let me explain. I have a special dialing service. First I need to call a special number.
Then I need to paste in the actual number I want to call.
I am too new on the forum to link in a video, but I hope the above is clear.
A solution - of sorts
I've just seen your post. I appreciate it's a bit late in the day.
I've had the same problem
I use 18185 to save money on international calls. My previous phone allow me to cut and paste the number I wished to dial while connected so the access service.
It would seem that is not possible to do this on an S10.
I have however found a workaround which achieves the same result.
If you create a new phone book entry adding the access number first of all.*
In my case 02081802828
Then a comma which will give you a 2 second pause
Then the number that you wish to dial
Save this into the phone book and you will then be able to dial the number directly without having to input any phone number on the dialling screen.
02081802828,+330170732020 would be the complete number.
Hit the phone entry button and your good to go. It does take a while to connect so be patient.
Hope this helps
solved, but no longer needed.
Yes, that is what I did. But it was annoying to have to do it for all of my contacts.
I ended having to download all of my contacts and then edit them all with a code editor macro.
It was annoying but it worked, and for about a year my phone bill went down to just about nothing above my basic monthly fee.
Now, I've changed jobs and have a work phone, so I don't have to worry about it
