Been Thinking about installing a Rom - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

i really dont know about installing one of these roms. When i install the rom will everything be erased off my phone. Because my contacts are not on my sim card they are on the phone itself, and my phone is not on warrenty so if it messed up im screwed. I cant lie but they are some nice lookin ROMs.

You can sync with a push mail service if you have a data plan. You can sign up for a free account at live.mail2web.com. That's what I do since I reflash my phone way too often.

thanks alot i understand it now
not a problem so much info in here some time hard to look for ever thing they do dam great work here they all rock

I Can't Install ANY Cabs, And the existing installs do not work.

All Right,
First of, I tried searching the website, for about 3 hrs, and could not find a way to fix this issue.... Some people raised it, but to no concrete solution.
I Have an HTC TyTn II, Bought fron HTC i.e. unlocked and i did not alter it in any serious way...Installed a couple of applications.... MobileShell was the most profound change i think i made to it.. I did Read alot bout cooked ROM's, But did'nt think i should risk it(IRONY???), as it cost me allotta money.... more than I cud afford anyway.
But recently i got the Android files off our fourums, and ran it a couple of times.... it worked sumtimes, and did'nt sometimes, but around the fourth soft rest i did, to boot with windows again, my softwares started erroring....ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!
The EXACT MESSAGE ON BOOT UP IS:-
"The file'MapKing_SMS' cannot be opened.
Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate,
or one of its components cannot be found.
If the problem persists, then try reinstalling
or restoring this file."
AND
"The file'MobileShell' cannot be opened.
Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate,
or one of its components cannot be found.
If the problem persists, then try reinstalling
or restoring this file"
etc And SoForth for all my programs.....
So, in I uninstalled all of my installed programs from the Remove Programs feature in Settings Tab, Till there was nothing left, Yet some programs ERRORED even when UN-INSTALLING, saying something like " NOT ALL FILES HAVE BEEN REMOVED" or something like that, or to that effect, i am not too sure, as i did'nt at the time think it would such a big deal.
I then Rebooted and tried to re-install them, but the CAB opens, it asks fo the standard
"This program is from an unknown publisher.......Are you sure you want to continue"
message, I Say yes, And it intantly displays
"Installation of XXXXXXXXXXX.cab was unsuccessful."
And Thats it.... There is nothing i can do....
Some1z Gotta help me, I really need u guy's help..... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASe......
Thanks Alot

Blah blah blah hard reset blah blah blah

Sorry for ya, sounds like you don't want to fix your phone.
i do , but is there lik some file i can copy to the reset phone that restores my sms's....... bcoz the even the installs that go through active sync don't start on the phone.... i'll know i gotta hard reset, but is there no way to get back my sms's afterword????
Why do you need 2000 text messages?

Some help please - flashing x1 to Touch-IT

Hi,
I was really hoping to do this without having to ask for guidance!!
I have backed up my ROM via Kovskykitchen: all OK and nice clear tutorial! thx..
I have X1_HardSPL_V1 ready to run..
I have the Touch-IT Experience ROM..
I think I follow the process but have a question about HARDSPL : Once I have completed the process - will I be able to use the phone at that point - or will I have to flash a new ROM to use it? i.e. is HARDSPL just an unlock so to speak or does it wipe the phone?- been reading this very helpful thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446070 by Phenx - ta..
Flashing the new rom:
all the detailed tutorials seem to be the MicroSD method.. I can't find a decent X1 walkthrough using activesync...
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm obviously searching wrong..
Thanks!!
(One other question: will flashing affect my sim contacts? Thanks)
I'll try and answer ur questions to the best of my ability but i can't say i know much about what hardspl is besides the ultimate tool
After you hardspl u will be able to use ur phone as normal. I believe it still has the same stock rom on it but again i'm not sure but i do know u will be able to use it.
There is a way to use activesync and its fairly simple. Establish a connection through activesync and then run the rom update utility and follow the instructions. This is the only method i've ever used and i've been flashing my phone since the wizard.
Hope this helps
Thanks, thats given me a little more confidence
What flash util would you recommend? or do you mean the one with the HARDSPL download?
I would suggest backing up your contacts to your sim card, pull your memory card and then flash AFTER you hrdspl the phone. The hrdspl enabled you to be able to flash the phone to another rom, it will not interfere with the operation of the phone afterwards.

Most ROM's are packed together with the flash prog. I do recommend the microSD method, as it's less prone to murphy's law.
always use the sd way, it far by the safest.
your sim contact will be left on the sim the other contacts yo want to backup.
hardspl is a unlock only utility, wont affect your phone, rom.
ive done it throught the sd way ...and its really simple and no problems, i had a few problems with hardspl ...but got that sorted quick enough.
yeah so i'd recommend the sd way.
Well don't have a microSD so did it via activesync...
HARDSPL - was painless - click - click, go make coffee - done!
I mistook the ROM update in the Touch zip for another HARDSPL.. It was infact (obviously) the update util needed.. Flashed to Touch-it .21 - As easy as HARDSPL....
I have noticed 1 bug but its a tiny thing: the ok or x in the top right doesnt show when in any menu... Hard reset didnt fix it.. no problem though as the OK or x is there just not lit up..
Can anyone confirm that to change to another ROM, I would just replace the RUU file in the update util folder?
Thanks for everyones help!

yes to the second, just replace the RUU.
and I'd recommend trying wktask http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html
instead of the taskmanager. (disable the task manager through settings) then you can make the X pretty and useful!
well thats the icing on the cake!! cheers - worked a treat.. thanks all

flashed my phone like 10 times now and NEVER used the SD version.
so from my point of view ... usw the USB version. saves loads of time.
plugin USB
sync if not allready done
start update and click a few times
done
download file on x1, save to sdcard,,,,, rename flash, much easier doesnt require windows pc can be done anywhere and less chance of failure
must have flashed different devices well over 100 times
probably a stupid question, but right now i have the Touch-IT 2.1 rom on my phone, if i want to Flash to another ROM, i don't need to flash to HardSPL again do i then flash to another rom?
EDIT: don't worry found the answer.

Decided to give it another chance. Your 52-280 helps, but it still looks kind of crappy with a gray bar on top, no other settings changed.

Charge/sync problem

I have read about 10 pages of charging and syncing problems but they weren't like mine. I flashed hardspl 3.34 and then it all went bad. When it is turned on it wont charge from wall/car/usb. When I put it into bootloader, it seems like my computer recognizes it (it asks me if I want to safely remove hardware) but windows mobile device center doesn't say it's connected, nor does it show up in computer. I did a hard reset and all that. It still has original 6.1 rom. Should I flash another spl? Or another rom? Any suggestions? I really hope I didn't f up my tilt. I finally got it after I bricked my wizard a year ago.

Well, if you are in bootloader and you got the USB sign on it you are ok. Try to flash another rom or reflash your stock rom.
Yes bootloader seems to work and says usb. I think what I did was flashed hardspl 3.29 following the directions in the "flashing your first kaiser rom" thread. But when I flashed 3.34, I flashed it using usb and not an sd card like it said. I just want to go back to original spl and rom.

Let's try this one my friend http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335568 probably you can revert back to the original spl and stock rom
What about these steps?
11. Download pof's SSPL-KAIS.exe and copy it to your phone
12. Run SSPL.KAIS.exe from your phone (make sure you do this on your actual device and not your PC)
I can't do them because my phone won't sync to my computer.

lol, I know that's exactly what I did. I was just saying, that I think that has something to do with it not charging and syncing. I'm not sure though, because I'm not a pro at flashing and all that. I can rebuild an engine, but I can't flash a stupid rom on a phone . Whatever I have to do to fix it, will have to work the next time because I only have about 60% battery left.

You can upgrade SPL via SD but you will need a WM donor phone (spare) or a card reader to format the sd card. Try that and let us know if that worked

Ok, to install from sd card, I put stock att hardspl RUU_signed.nbh and KAISDIAG.NBH into sd card, pop it in and go to bootloader? Correct?

there is a couple of ways mentioned here.
put phone into bootloader and install stock standard nodo rom. that will downgrade your hspl. there is a thread ....how to downgrade hspl with more detail.
just follow the instructions. once u have downgraded then you can install cotulla hspl and after that the custom rom
